[My] Life in Wisconsin

She Cries in Her Sleep...

Another Frigid Good Morning From The Frozen Few in Flintville, Wisconsin!

It seems to be that all is well here. It is 13 Below Zero this morning... (Sorry, I lied, it is only 12.6 degrees below)... Hmmmm, What a sly liar I am eh? hehehe

I did get to the dentist yesterday... and 'knock on wood', the car ran just fine. People just have to remember not to be pushing their luck and thinking that a car can operate as these temps as well as it can if the temps were between about +30 and +80. And to never jump on that foot feed if it is colder or hotter than those temps. I saw more than a few stranded and abandoned vehicles on the side of the road... Most were the smaller variety- 4 cylinders... (Somebody forgot NOT to tromp on their accelerators). I saw no semis that had gelled up. But I saw on the news that there were many MANY calls for service on those same tractors...

The dentists office was busy, (and unfortunately everybody showed up for their appointments or else I would have stuck around for that root canal I need)... Oh well. But I am on the 'call' list for broken appointments, so perhaps I will not need to be waiting so long to get in.

That dentist (really) is so nice... giving me all that gas to calm me down... "la~la~la~la~la" ...Except for the needle, I didn't feel a thing, even though it was just a 'surface rust' cavity that he filled. He said my 'mouf' is healing exactly as it should... (And I don't care what he says anymore, no one should have to pull bone fragments out from any part of their body, at any point in time, nor for any reason)! Still, it is SO much better than it was even a month ago.

Unfortunately I cannot say the same for my little Miss Punk. Since Saturday when she woke up and shook her head for the better part of an hour, I have cleaned her ears, spotless; and put her drops in to cleanse them a bit more too. But when I got back from the dentist, I thought maybe I would call the vet. She just wasn't herself... (And while I DO want for her to calm down a bit, this just was not the right way to accomplish that). I told them I thought that maybe she had an ear infection; would he have time to see her? Janine scheduled us promptly for 45 minutes later. A short ride there, and then to have Master Gabriel "casing the joint" He literally checked each door, and because it was chilly, just kept moving around.

They BOTH got weighed. Punkie is a FAT 87.5 pounds; and Gabriel weighed in at a very skinny 25.1 pounds! (Why does "Jack Sprat" come to mind)?!?

...........
So fun to watch him always!

While Gabriel strolled around, Miss Punk waited patiently for the doctor. She was watching Gabriel too!

Look at her eyes; you can see she isn't the same perky pup she generally is.

She cried when Dr. Spires looked in her ears with his "ear~looker~thingie" ... And she hated it even more when he used the stronger stuff in her ears too... I have medication to be putting in them now, and they should clear up in a few days. Her ears are both infected. I knew it wasn't ear mites- Just not the right stuff to be cleaning out of her ears for mites.

I asked him if she was contagious to Miss Milly, and he said no. He said all dogs have the bacteria in their ears to begin with, but generally they do not have a problem unless they get water in their ears. I have not bathed Punk since the beginning of January- (Takes too long for her to dry completely and safely once the temps went down)... I told him she had been in the river on New Year Day... He said no, that it was too long before; that the infection will show up after about a week or two...

...He then asked about snow?

Yup. Remember the pictures of her and Miss Milly burying their heads in the snow? *If you don't remember, please CLICK HERE .* (Heck, I didn't know... I thought it was just freakin' funny)! And now to feel so badly for her-

Please don't let your dogs do this!

Poor little girl... And yes, she is whimpering every now and then in her sleep... and crying out every so often... So sad. I noticed too, how very closely she was looking at me after I had put the drops in her ears, and it occured to me that she couldn't hear, or barely at all... She just kept looking at my face as though she would miss something.

I'd better get busy with my day here... Punkie is still asleep on the couch, Milly in the entrance... Not too bad of a windchill today- and the ACTUAL (real) temperature should be a few degrees above zero! YAY! And maybe (if we are really lucky), we should be in the teens for the weekend! We shall be having a 'heat~wave' then!

Break out the rubber rafts and the ski~doos!!!

XOXO
