[My] Life in Wisconsin

Credit, Where Credit is Due...

A late P.S. to all... and especially those with green and gold blood in their veins... (ok ok maybe a bit of purple too)...

I know how much fun it is for us to 'pick on' the Vikings... (And vice~versa)... But maybe please just say a little prayer that ALL the 'fans' (and 'fanatics'), might arrive home safely after the game is over. Already it is nearing the freezing point... (It is a little after 6PM)... And it is raining a cold (straight through to your bones) kind of rain/snow/sleet. I know how very many people will be on the roads; and these roads will very possibly turn treacherous for everyone. The road warnings are coming out on all the TV stations already...

Be Safe.

Enjoy the game.

I am thinking that the only REAL winners here will be the ones that get home safe and sound.

Good Morning to Everyone;

I took this picture well after sunset last night... and there was such a special glow, coming from above, that really was SO neat to see; and I just HAD to share it with you all.

I have been up for the better part of four hours already.... Catching up even on my little emails that have gone so neglected as of late. I have inadvertantly hurt someones feelings by sending out an email entitled "Jesus Writes"... It came back to me shortly, (with an awful admonishment to me for sending it out). Of course I have already sent my apologies... I had mistakenly thought that since the person in question had many displays of Christmas within their own page/blogs, that receiving this email would not have been a problem. I am SO sorry.

My words, then, to the rest of you are these... Please let me know (gently if possible) that you would prefer NOT to receive these emails. I believe that the email addresses are/were provided on the 360 when we hit 'accept' as a friend, and I know I have taken many liberties in forwarding things to you. If I have been offensive I apologize now. Some things are very dear to my heart; and some things are just damned funny. (To me anyway)...

Again, my apologies if I have ever offended any of you; whether by my own Beliefs or even with my off~color forwarded jokes...

That said, it is time to move on to what I had planned on writing first in here; with respect to the title of this blog...

Santa came early this year. Santa came to the Post Office. (And Santa is even an artist)!

Yes, that is an 'original' of my Amos~ and he is right where he LOVED being; (right on top of the fridge)!

And yes, I cried like a baby as I finally opened it... This, done by a friend. And along with her kind and generous heart, she has an awesome talent! (I think, seeing this, my girls are all probably shedding a tear or two also). What a grand gift... And yet I feel so mightily humbled too...

In the company of greatness! I thank you again!

For Amos' Story, CLICK HERE (Or maybe the links in the tag cloud will work too)...

I also received pictures from Jenne of the wedding, and even though I would LOVE to post them all, I will not. She will probably be doing so on her own blog- as her time allows... However, I do particularly love this one!

(Oh, I should have made this bigger). Jennifer, Aaron and Isaiah.

My 'mouf' still hurts, but not as badly as it has... (And, along with our county 'boys in brown', no mushrooms have appeared in said mouth either). Yup, I have lost my touch... (And yes, I did leave the check on the counter; but I also laughed out loud at that comment yesterday that questioned whether or not I had)!!! **evil grin** Next time kids...

I HAVE to find my house!!! It is under all the mess here... SOMEWHERE!!! That email this morning kinda took the wind out of my own sails; so a whole lot of work will restore these spirits of mine!

On that note, I shall close for today!

4 days and counting, kids!

Are you ready??? Cuz I sure as heck am not!!!

XOXO

Anne

'MOSTLY' It's Common Sense

"MOSTLY" It's Common Sense... December 20, 2006

Good Morning Everyone!

Oh my goodness, (YOKES)!, it is December 20th already!! And Miss Amy, you will be happy to know that YOURS was the only card I got back in my box... (thus far anyway), marked "postage due". hehehe ... Oops, I promise it shall go out in the mail today then!

I called back to my dentists office, (just wondering if they were creating drug addicts or ignoring their patients).... But a different gal answered the phone, telling me to at least call the oral surgeon who had done the extractions.

I did, and THEY told me to be there within the half hour. And so I made record time, (and watching my gas gauge carefully as it was sure getting down there)... I arrived with 7 minutes to spare!

He took one LQQK in my mouth, and proclaimed how wonderfully I have healed! Speaking of ME, he also said 'beautiful' and 'mouth' in the same sentence! (Maybe he had his share of drugs yesterday too)? But anyway, as a reaction to the abuse my mouth has taken, he said there could be a bit of a dry socket on the bottom back, but was NOT about to disturb what healing has already gone on since it looked so good. He also gave me a prescription for my mouth, thinking that his aforementioned abuse might also have triggered a fungal infection. A rinse that will take away the burning and all... (It hasn't yet)... Shall I be expecting mushrooms then?

Hmmmm....... ?????????

Casey had come with my prescription refill, and I was so lucky that she was here to begin with; otherwise I would have had to waken Miss Valerie from her nap and taken her along.

Valerie, still a bit short from that awful chicken nugget experience...

But anyway, Thank God for KCN, that she was here to keep an eye on Miss Valerie!!! But she also said she HAD to leave here by 4:30. It was only 2... so, no problem, that...

Or, gee Batman, at least it shouldn't have been...

...Simply because 'mostly' I can drive fast if need be!

And 'mostly' I am a patient sort of person.
(C'Mon, let's face it, I gave birth 4 times, and they have all survived to adulthood. That, in and of itself should be a testimonial to the level of my patience).

'Mostly' I can abide any/everything, save for obvious stupidity.

(But mostly I do NOT like eggplant either). hehehe

Now remember how I said my gas gauge was 'getting down there'? (please also keep in mind the 'title' of this blog).

By the time I had left the OS office and restarted my car, the "low fuel" light had come on. And since I have ONLY ever used Shell Brand Gas in my cars, I was happy that there was one of those stations not even half a block away...

I pulled in, and as I normally do, I look for my credit card so I do not have to go in. Oops. No credit card, as I had given it to Casey to be doing a bit of shopping. And I think "Oh well, I have my checkbook."

So I filled up the tank, went inside and grabbed a Sierra Mist for Miss Valerie- (her 7~UP was all gone); and I proceeded to the checkout. I wrote out my check, adding my driver license number AND my phone number. (I do NOT have any identifying info on my checks, as per any 'full faith' warnings that had come out over 4 years ago from attorneys etc; including the Snopes warnings... And hey how about those plain old common sense lectures that we all should have gotten already from our own banks and credit unions? ...As a sidenote, I also have my P.O.BX number preprinted on my checks.

The gal gave me my total, and I wrote the check out. She took it, was going to run it through, and asked for my I.D. I showed it to her.

She then wanted to write my home address on the check. I told her she could not do this; however that I would not object should she care to write it down elsewhere and hold onto it for a week or so, until she was sure the check had cleared. She got downright ugly with me then. And GASP!, she even threatened to call the manager!!! Ooh.. (Having run these stations, and for too many years, I simply told her to go ahead). Please insert another "Ooh."

She did. When she had hung up the phone, she told me that I had to let her write the info down.

(I don't think so).

And so I again, (still) politely declined to 'let' her do so. (With my mouth hurting so much, I must NOT have made my point clear when I had refused her this the first time)... And so I repeated my denial. She said OK, that she would call the manager again. (I must really be obtuse, because I gave her my blessings all over again)...

And OH MY, she said the 'manager' wanted to speak with me! Oh wait, have I mentioned that I am NOT the type to be intimidated, gracefully or otherwise- (Or do intelligent people simply recognize this about me)?

And so I spoke to the manager, who, when pressed, turned out to be the assistant manager- Note: generally in these parts (and with all due respect to the company in question), an asst manager needs NO more than an ability to count money and stock the cooler... (And both things only have to be 'close'). Simply "amazing"!!! And sad but TRUE.

Once more I was adamant. This girl informed me that she had a handwritten sign on the counter that stated "No PO BX's" (Yup, I'd seen it). And she was very upset about that. Now at that point, I might have informed her that I believed State Law would supercede her handwritten sign. State law provides that the customer needs to make every possible attempt to pay. (And yeah, I really do know this 1st of all it would be common sense to 'mostly' anyone; and 2ndly, by my many years in retail). She hung up saying she would call her General Manager, which again, might have been after I had asked HER for her own danged home address...

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!!

Oh crap you say?

Nah. (I have also been G.M. for an LLC service station)! hehehe

And so I sat and waited for the phone to ring once more. I believe that many years ago, this is exactly the time when my own mothers' hand would appear out of nowhere... Just "to wipe that 'sass' off my face!"...

No hand appeared; but the phone did ring.

YAY! It was for ME!!! (Imagine that)!

I said, "Merry Christmas, this is Anne." And I surely am glad that I said that right off the bat, because this gal started cussing at me immediately, berating me etc etc etc...

...(I 'll bet her hubby didn't have an easy time of it last night)...

But anyway, she had concluded her tirade with, "Do you understand?"

I calmly said, "No, could you please repeat that?"

And she started all over again!

(I swear on my parents' graves that she actually restarted her entire tirade)!!!

At that point, I simply set the phone down on the counter- quietly, and walked back over to the register- As I picked up my little things, I quietly said "I think she's still talking."

She was. But the gal had customers and couldn't get to the phone right away. I walked out. And of course now in my car, I called my friendly deputy and explained the "shituation" This, before I had even pulled away... I was only doing my level best to make sure I had given the little lady ample time to tell the G.M. I wasn't on the phone anymore; and to make sure she got my license plate number too. Honest.

Because God only knows that the fake cameras they have won't be recording anything! Any semi~idiotic FOOL knows that when there is a sign (usually handwritten, hehehe) on ANY pump, ANYWHERE, that says "Credit cards only" after such~n~such hour, that there are NO cameras on that pump!

"SHEESH"...

...As I would say, there is nothing like free 'advertising for drive~offs' (and then having the managers wonder WHY there are so many drive~offs on those same pumps during the day)?

Strangely enough now that the word "DUH" comes to my mind...

Yuppers, the words "DUH"??? & "HIRED"!!! seem to be going hand~in~hand at these places!

I had to stop at Fleet Farm and pick up a rug- (or three)... and having already wasted so much time at the stupid station, I went really fast through the store- I didn't think that possible 6 days before Christmas, but I was wrong! I just ran everybody over is all.

(There might still be a little old lady in aisle 5)!

Then on to the drug store where I had to shell (hehehe) out almost $84.00... Oh happy (crappy) day!!!

I called home to see if the sheriffs department had shown up yet, and told KCN to tell whomever that I would be there by 4:15, and to simply have them wait.

No such visitors though.

*sigh*

Damn!!!

'Mostly' I must be losing my touch!

Have a 'mostly' wunnaful day... (And please, if you comment, keep in mind that I just might be in need your phone number for bail money yet)!!! hehehe

I shall be patiently awaiting my visitors then... (with mushrooms growing out of my mouth)?!?!

XOXO
Anne
