Randall Staeven found guilty in 2009 death of estranged wife, Christine | Green Bay Press Gazette | greenbaypressgazette.com

Do the click above- This creep has been found guilty on ALL counts!

Good Morning All;
Friend Chris called me mid-afternoon yesterday; just as the 'news' came over the wire...
Chris has always been such a good friend to our family- Ever since we bought his family's home. A dear dear man. He also commented that he was glad that WI has no death penalty; better for him to rot away in prison and think about what he has become.

I just say there is a God who ensures that bad things happen to bad people too.
Whoo~Hoo!!!!

Not only was/is the 26th my daughter Jennifer's birthday, it is also Staevens birthday.
Yes, I called Jennifer first! She was celebrating in San Antonio!

XOXO

Staeven may not have gotten what he wanted for his birthday, but he surely got what he deserved.

More on Murder

Randy Staeven

Good Morning All;
Here are the continuing articles in my ex-next door neighbor's murder trial.
The jury was picked last Friday. His trial has been ongoing, and should be done with tomorrow.

XOXO

Yesterday's article, from here:

OCONTO —
Randall Staeven frequently was violent and abusive toward his family, once setting fire to his children's toys because they had not been cleaned up, according to testimony Tuesday from his teenage daughter and stepson.

Staeven — on trial this week in Oconto County Circuit Court for first-degree homicide, arson, mutilating a corpse and reckless endangerment of children — called his 13-year-old daughter "a pig" when she had bathroom accidents as a young girl, according to her testimony.

His 16-year-old stepson said he and his mother, Christine Staeven, fled many times to escape the defendant's violent outbursts, only to return home later.

"I honestly don't know why we kept going back," the stepson testified, "but we did."

Staeven, 51, faces life in prison on charges he killed Christine Staeven, 40, in May 2009 and set the family's town of Chase home on fire to conceal the crime.

Prosecutors are scheduled to continue presenting their case today in a trial that is expected to continue all week at the Oconto County Courthouse.

About a dozen witnesses provided more than seven hours of testimony Tuesday, including neighbors who reported seeing or hearing strange things around the Staeven house on the day of Christine Staeven's death.

Neighbor Tim Saindon told jurors he saw Randall Staeven driving from the scene at about 4 a.m., down a road that is seldom traveled.

"I knew who it was right away," Saindon said. "There's no doubt in my mind who I saw."

A forensic pathologist, Mark Witeck, testified that Christine Staeven's body was too badly damaged by the fire to pinpoint a cause of death.

Witeck, however, said he was certain that her death was a homicide.

Defense attorney Jeff Jazgar questioned the pathologist about an anti-depressant found in Christine Staeven's body in what the attorney called "awfully high" amounts.

Other family members and acquaintances described a rocky marriage between the Staevens, who were in the midst of a divorce when Christine died. Some said they had heard the defendant say he wished his estranged wife were dead.

However, one witness for the prosecution turned hostile.

Scott Heitzke, a nephew of Randall Staeven's, said his uncle was understandably upset about the impending divorce when he said he wished Christine was dead and that the house was burned down.

Heitzke then questioned the accuracy of some police reports and told jurors he personally had been threatened by police officers to cooperate with the investigation or face reprisals.

The nephew said he agreed to wear a listening device and gather information from Randall Staeven for investigators after the alleged threats.

"They told me I should go along or I could get my Social Security taken away and go to prison," he said. "I felt like I had no choices."

And Today's article, (which is the top posted link):

— An Oconto County jury Wednesday heard Randall Staeven's own words about his family's money trouble, his marital counseling sessions and his belief that his wife was having an affair.

Staeven, 51, is on trial this week for allegedly killing his estranged wife, Christine Staeven, in May 2009 and for allegedly attempting to cover up the crime by torching their town of Chase home while their three children were inside. The children, now 13, 9 and 5, escaped unharmed.

Randall Staeven didn't testify Wednesday, but large parts of his testimony at a previous hearing were read to the jury.

Staeven had testified in July 2010 at a secret John Doe hearing, a procedure that allows prosecutors to put people under oath as a way to investigate a possible crime.

Special prosecutor Vincent Biskupic posed questions that had been posed to Staeven at that hearing, while special agent Michael Rindt of the state Division of Criminal Investigation read back the answers Staeven had given.

In his testimony, Staeven denied being physically abusive to his wife and children. He said he was angry about the bills the family generated and said he and Christine consolidated their debt and filed bankruptcy in an effort to get out from under it.

He denied being particularly upset when he learned that Christine had become involved in a relationship with another man while the couple were separated a few months before Christine's death.

Asked whether he found it upsetting that Christine had plans to marry someone after the divorce, Randall Staeven answered, "Not much."

He claimed it was just coincidence — not stalking — that he spotted her car at 4:30 a.m. one day during their separation, when he suspected she was visiting a boyfriend instead of watching their children.

"Are you typically up at 4 a.m. and on the road?" was the question Biskupic put to him at the hearing.

"No, not typically, no," Staeven answered.

Staeven characterized their relationship as being pretty good in January 2009 when Christine suddenly announced she wanted him out of the house.

Previous testimony in the trial indicated a pattern of verbal and physical abuse during the couple's 10-year marriage and even before.

"He needed to know every place I went, always wanted to be in control of me," said Sue Paulick, 49, who dated Staeven in the 1980s, lived with him in De Pere and had a child with him.

Paulick said she ended their relationship 10 or 15 times because of his abusiveness.

Diane Stachura* of Abrams testified she lived with Staeven in the home he bought at 740 Jaworski Road in the town of Chase in the early 1990s.

She said their relationship went well for the first few years but then Staeven started getting abusive. He threw things at her, gave her a black eye and pulled phones out of the wall to prevent her from calling police, she said.

Christine Staeven's mother, Connie Heling, testified earlier this week that her daughter obtained a restraining order and later divorce papers because she "couldn't handle the anger and the violence."

Jurors Wednesday also heard from Kathleen McWilliams, who ran a day-care business out of her home and baby-sat the Staevens' children in the years preceding Christine Staeven's death. McWilliams also helped the couple balance their checkbook.

McWilliams said Staeven frequently became enraged over money matters, such as when his child support increased. Christine Staeven had a china doll collection and occasionally overdrew on the family checkbook when buying clothes for the dolls, and that sent Staeven into a rage, McWilliams said.

One time, he became so angry, he flipped a table over and called her names, McWilliams said.

Christine Staeven twice told her that Staeven forced himself on her sexually, including one time when he wrapped a T-shirt around her neck and twisted it to cut off her air flow, McWilliams said.

Christine Staeven made several attempts to leave Staeven but returned to him several times, McWilliams said.

Michael Stier, associate professor of forensic pathology at the University of Wisconsin, testified that Christine Staeven died of homicide by undetermined means.

He said it was a fairly new classification of death but one that was accepted by experts in the field of forensic pathology. He said Christine Staeven's body showed no sign of carbon monoxide or soot, which indicated she was not breathing at the time the fire started.

Stier indicated there was a presence of an anti-depressant drug in her blood but not of a dosage significantly high enough to have been a contributing factor in her death.

The trial is expected to run through Friday.

Randall Staeven is charged with first-degree homicide, arson, mutilating a corpse and reckless endangerment of children.

He married Christine later, after Chris had moved in with him.

As I had written on my Facebook page:

Worth the read!
If you have ever had a mammogram, you can identify with this.
I thought this was laugh out loud funny, and much of it is so true!
ENJOY!

At my recent assault trial, I offered a plea of "Guilty with an explanation." The judge asked me what my explanation was, so I told my story.

"Your Honor," I said, "I had a mammogram appointment, which I actually kept. I was met with:'Hi! I'm Belinda!' This perky clipboard carrier smiled from ear to ear, tilted her head to one side and crooned, 'All I need you to do is step into this room right here, strip to the waist, then slip on this gown. Everything clear?' I'm thinking, 'Belinda, try decaf. This ain't rocket science.' Belinda skipped away to prepare the chamber of horrors.

With the right side finished, Belinda flipped me (literally) to the left and said, 'Hmmmm. Can you stand on your tippy toes and lean in a tad so we can get everything? “Fine”, I answered. I was freezing, bruised, and out of air, so why not use the remaining circulation in my legs and neck and finish me off? My body was in a holding pattern that defied gravity (with my other breast wedged between those two 4 inch pieces of square glass) when we heard, then felt a zap!
Complete darkness and the power went off! 'Oh, maintenance is working. Bet they hit a snag.' Belinda said, and headed for the door. 'Excuse me! You're not leaving me in this vise alone are you?' I shouted. Belinda kept going and said, 'Oh, you fussy puppy...the door's wide open so you'll have the emergency hall lights. I'll be right back.'

Before I could shout 'NOOOO!' she disappeared. And that's exactly how Bubba and Earl, maintenance men extraordinaire, found me ... half-naked with part of me dangling from the Jaws of Life, and the other part smashed between glass! After exchanging a polite 'Hi, how's it going' type greeting, Bubba (or possibly Earl) asked, to my utter disbelief, if I knew the power was off. Trying to disguise my hysteria, I replied with as much calmness as possible 'Uh, yes, yes I did thanks.' 'You bet, take care' Bubba replied and waved good-bye as though I'd been standing in the line at the grocery store.

Two hours later, Belinda breezes in wearing a sheepish grin. Making no attempt to suppress her amusement, she said, 'Oh I am sooo sorry!' The power came back on and I totally forgot about you! And silly me, I went to lunch. Are we upset?'

And that, Your Honor, is exactly how her head ended up between the clamps...."

Yahoo/ATT's continuing misappropriated payments...

Some of you may have already received this in your emails. If so, I apologize for the 'repeat' note.

To my friends, my family, and to the organizations that may have emailed me from 8-19-2011 through 8-22-2011.

Through my own phone calls, and my mailed letters, I have practically begged for help from Yahoo; short of driving to their offices...
(Not an option, my wheelchair will not travel that far). hehehe

As you know, I have dial-up through Yahoo.

As of May 2011, I have had to call Yahoo, (various numbers), no less than 25-30 times to rectify an error on THEIR part. ie: my lost/misappropriated funds.

Calling in, in May, I had made my requisite payment.
Yes, I have BOTH the confirmation number AND the printout from my bank showing that my account with Yahoo is NOT in arrears, and has been paid in full.

It is this May '11 payment, erroneously applied, that has resulted in much frustration, (and for the Nth time now, to have had my email service cut off from the ISP server site)...
This, in itself is wrong, since yahoo has 'free' email service, whether or not they are your ISP provider, (do they not)?!?!

My apologies if any of you tried to email me since Friday last, (8-19-2011).
You would have had your email message to me returned as undeliverable.

I ASSURE YOU THAT "onthefarm@prodigy.net" IS MY EMAIL ADDRESS!

Please continue to use the email you have on hand for me- Should you have your note(s) returned, I promise that this will be rectified as soon as the next service day begins- or shortly thereafter.

Unfortunately for me, I discovered that I could not access my Yahoo mail on Friday evening.
Their office hours are 8-5 Monday through Friday; so I was quite screwed for the entire weekend!

Again, I apologize for Yahoo's inept service.
I am wondering if any of you have an active email (OR, snail mail) address for any of Yahoo's bigshots? I should very much like to send this note to them, again.

In advance, I thank you for your time and help.

Hope all is well with y'all. hehehe

XOXO
Me

PS
Please too, let me know if you would have any suggestions for me to add to Yahoo... I will be mailing this letter through the USPS, certified mail.

August 21, 2017 Total eclipse of the sun- North America

Hi Everyone!
I know that some of us won't be here when this happens.
I know that plenty more will be- And they may wish to have a reminder of this awesome event!
(Whom shall I impose upon to join in watching)?!

I have seen one total eclipse of the sun in my lifetime here.
It was the most eerie, yet the most breathtaking and interesting few moments of my life.
Eerie prevailed- in the sense that it was around noon- so the 'greenish' darkness that prevailed on us all was just "wrong".

Beautiful they are- (Some might even think of me when this next total eclipse comes through the United States)?

My love to all.

XOXO
Me

The greatest show on Earth

A total solar eclipse is the most amazing spectacle in nature. Everyone should try to witness this event at least once in a lifetime. Once you’ve seen an eclipse, you will be touched for life and might be inspired to join the ranks of eclipse observers who plan trips long in advance to remote corners of the world.

Eclipse maps are the vehicle for eclipse observers to plan expeditions, study observing prospects, and relive adventures of eclipse day. Any eclipse observer will tell you that eclipse maps are vacation guides for a lifetime. You use an eclipse map to find locations for the eclipse phenomena you wish to observe. You can choose a spot along the center line to maximize your duration of totality along with good weather prospects or you can choose a point near the limit lines of totality to enjoy dramatic effects, such as extended views of the sun’s photosphere, the innermost and most colorful section of the sun’s corona.

Eclipse maps are astonishing because they dare to predict precise locations and timings of future eclipses as well as the paths of eclipses in antiquity. Each eclipse map tells a story that weaves together geographic knowledge, information visualization, scientific understanding, and artistic flourishes. Eclipse maps are remarkable artifacts of our civilization.

Credit where it is due

The new eclipse maps that I publish on the Gallery page of this web site are built on the work of others. My chief collaborator is Bill Kramer who runs the comprehensive web site http://www.eclipse-chasers.com. Bill developed a solar eclipse calculator and built me a custom interface to generate millions of data points for each eclipse.

These maps apply prediction results from several eclipse researchers. Xavier Jubier has an indispensable web site for generating interactive eclipse maps at http://xjubier.free.fr/en/index_en.html. I use his data for mapping the limit and central lines of eclipses. The foundation of contemporary eclipse predictions comes from the work of Jean Meeus and Fred Espenak. They have produced the authoritative Five Millennium Catalog of Solar Eclipses at http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEcat5/catalog.html. A notable characteristic of the newest eclipse maps on this web site is that they incorporate eclipse timing corrections for the precise shape of the Moon. Dave Herald of IOTA (www.occultations.org) generated the lunar limb profiles used for calculating the timing corrections from the laser altimeter data collected by the Japanese lunar orbiter, Kaguya.

Several persons have kindly provided research and reproductions of early eclipse maps. Robert van Gent, historian of astronomy (http://www.phys.uu.nl/~vgent/), shared his research and many images of early eclipse maps. Klaus-Dieter Herbst, historian of science, uncovered the two earliest known eclipse maps from Jena, Germany. Eli Maor, professor of mathematics at Loyola University and collector of eclipse maps, gave advice and several reproductions from his collection. Jay Pasachoff, professor of astronomy at Williams College and chair of the International Astronomical Union Working Group on Solar Eclipses (http://www.eclipses.info) provided research, advice, and eclipse map images from his collection. Sheridan Williams (http://www.clock-tower.com), director of the Computing Section of the British Astronomical Association, has kindly provided many eclipse maps from his personal collection.

Hi everyone, and thank you for doing the click above-

This is the drug I had been given in March. I am due for another infusion of the same next March...
I don't think I will be having it. It seems as though, perhaps, I have lucked out; by bypassing these awful side effects- especially those that cause death!

After reading many stories, (not all as sad, yet, as this one), I am thinking that perhaps I did not do my necessary homework as well as I should have.
Shame, shame, SHAME on me.

As I replied to my letter, "I have a dentist appointment tomorrow- A referral. Casey has written and said she would come out early- Having her here should calm me down a bit. I have NO idea what they will think to do with my mouth.
I saw an ad on the TV, late-night, a while back- and it was for some device that fits over your existing teeth. I will ask them about that. I just hope they don't think they will be pulling any teeth. That is *not* going to happen.
And I do realize the %'s would be in my favor. (Then again, I think about how my luck goes). Not sure I would ever care to take the risk.
Maybe teeth are overrated?" (But heck, I don't like pudding)!!!

PS
I had written to Polly earlier.
Part of her reply was this: "I don't know much about those injections you get in your back--I'll call and talk to you about that but maybe will wait a day or two to see how it is going. It still sounds to me like you are trying to do things that you shouldn't do, which could make things worse (which you know and I promise to quit saying now). I don't think you made a mistake trying the bone density drugs given your stage of osteoporosis--you had to try something and who knows--they may help build up some bone.
Some bone is better than no bone and that jaw thing happens with all of those kinds of drugs and it doesn't happen to a very high percentage of the women taking them (I think it was less than 1%---having said that I am still glad that I got off the Fosomax because I wasn't bad enough to use it long-term;
However, my mother had been using it for many years with no problems).
_____________________________________________________

So who knows?
Maybe I really *am* one of the lucky ones...

News. Thanks. Thoughts. And still no news.

Good Afternoon;
I have had the TV on in the background all day long- On the Animal channel-
They have had a few shows about the Animal Cops.
I have been asked *how* I can watch- which I really don't- But when I am in the room, I do look at the abuse that these animals have suffered at our hands.
This, and children being abused, have to be the worst of any imaginable sins...

What occurs to me is that, sad and revolting as these animals are to see, and to know that it happens; it is FAR WORSE that basically the same thing happens to our children.

They are as defenseless as these animals; fully dependent on others to care for them and to love them; and not to harm them.

I believe America needs those shows- about her own children. (And more, about our unsung American heroes that try to change this, bit by tiny bit).

Keep our dollars on American soil.
Feed our babies. Care for them always.

Do not fall for the sadness on your screen, or in your magazines that show children starving, dying in other countries. Yes, it is sad, and it is tragic- So are your neighbors.
We absolutely need to care for our own FIRST.

Walk down your block, around the corner...

Listen closely to what you hear-
Why is that child crying? Is it the same from day to day? Call your local police/sheriff departments, or contact your county social services...
DO something to help! (You will never forgive yourself if/when something ungodly happens.
And yes, do the same for the animal that you see/hear being mistreated, please.

OK. Rant done.

Let's see...
Along with my camera (which passed away several weeks ago), my desktop also seems to have perished... Unless Mr. Greg wishes to do an autopsy on the damn thing, I will probably have to have a service for it as I bury it in the backyard.
Perhaps I should bury the camera and the HP together?   hehehe

Thank God for my laptop! Took a while to fire up, but is doing well enough for me. Crap, a TV, a desktop, or a huge enough laptop to cover my many pictures, and a new camera too.
What the heck is going on? (I am waiting for light bulbs to flicker as I pass by).
hehehe

No news on the surgery front.  Casey is at the doctors office as I type, and will be coming out here shortly after. I hope he can help. (Rumor has it that he HAS been a great influence to the Contract health dept, AND with contacting the surgeon; each doctor agreeing that to make this wait 'til October is still playing that damnable roulette game)...
Happy that we have doctors that can and will fight for their patients.

I received my new brace yesterday. Initially I loved it.
Today I do not share that sentiment.
The brace is too short to help my lower back, no matter how it is adjusted. I need a longer one. My back, neck to coccyx, measures 25", the brace barely covers 17" of that.
Not even close.

For my middle back and my upper back it is a great fit and to have it nice and snug. But I had to take it off to sleep too. Not a good thing because then I want to stretch out and roll, (something that must be done very carefully)- My brace is to maintain that while I sleep... This one surely doesn't.

The PM office called me right back yesterday morning, emphasizing that a red 'reaction' can occur after any shots, or cement procedure. She wanted me to have it checked, close up, before making an appointment to come in.
Casey checked it while I was getting the new brace. No streaks of any red, so probably not an infection. Casey said it might be a reaction to having my old brace so ill~fitting, and rubbing on an area where I have a bad disk, or maybe a bone spur...
Time will tell. I do not have a fever so am guessing it is nothing to worry about.
I will have Casey recheck it again today when she gets here.

I'd better close. I had cut two fingers open on Sunday morning helping Jim work on the lawnmower deck. They need to be soaked good, so I shall try to get my dishes done. Adding a bit of bleach because they have been undone for a few days. The hot water will pull out any infection there, and the bleach will ensure my fingers are not infected.
All this possible infection!!! Ick! Makes me want to go take a bottle of antibiotics. hehehe
But I do heal fast enough no matter what, so all will be well.

As I hope it is with all of you.

XOXO
Me

From my email... "Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved." XOXO, Me

With a Little Help from my Friends

Good Morning Everyone!
Lots of 'stuff' going on today; this, in addition to having had a very, very, busy weekend. (And a very happy one)!

First of all, my heartfelt thanks to my friends, and to Casey too, (not only my daughter, but a very special friend- a rare and special combination). These people that I love who made it possible for me to have my bedroom downstairs!
YAY!!!  -
No more sleeping on the couch! I would do a little dance, but... no can do.  hehehe

But what a job!
Lynn came out to help me clean out my "junk" room. This is where I have many of my eBay things stored, waiting to be put up for auction. These all had/have to find new homes/space for me to have access to them.
(We didn't even touch the surface of the smaller walk-in closet either).
As I look in my living room now, there are 6 boxes that need sorting; most to recycle, some to file, some to save, and of course, some to the trash.

Casey and Greg came out too- around 4, and got my old bedroom set down to put in that room.
That room is darn beautiful if I do say so myself. The same room that for 3 times in its existence has been called "Grandma's Room". The circle completed now, for my generation too.
And ALL with heartfelt thanks to these 3 very special, helpful, family and friends of mine!

Now, also add one more friend, ("Jim"- of snowplowing fame). In the past few days here, he has put many hours of his time to fixing up my Cub Cadet to be good as new. (As for me, I $pent lotsa dollars that I didn't even know I had).
  hehehe
My little tractor is now ready to tackle my lawns--- Well, just as soon as I can be ready to do it too.

In the future, I may be needing to replace the double pulley on the mowing deck. Not just the bearings mind you, but the whole dang pulley system.
Crap. I did this thrice already in my life... Not fun- Plus it has a tendency to rob me of DNA.
  hehehe
I believe that Jim will do that when/if I live long enough to buy the system. This is quite probably why the front end keeps throwing the drive belt. (I bought the 2nd new belt for this one, this year).
Enter Nate, (who I once worked with at Pulaski-Chase Cooperative). He is now employed over at the other hardware store, and is keeping a special eye out for anything (parts wise) I might need later on. Thank God for Nate too!

This morning, I have an appointment @ 10:00 for a brand spankin' new brace.
(Double~YAY)!!!

But, (and there is ALWAYS that damned "but" isn't there)?!?
Throughout the weekend, I have been having some sharp pains in my back where I had my 6 injections last Thursday.
Waking this morning, I think I will also need to go back in to the doctor who performed that surgery. I woke with awful (and a very "odd" -yet quite severe) pain in my back; very near to where I had received those shots.
Trying to see it close up in a mirror is almost impossible, even using two mirrors.
But I do believe that the red/maroon dot, (approximately the size of a dime), directly over my spine, (PLUS the 'rashy~looking' area around it), might probably suggest an internal infection of sorts.
Wish me luck. I will call my surgeon around 8 or so this morning when his office opens...
But geez, I hope the only appointment they have for me is not at 10:00. (Still, by now, most of you have figured out how my luck goes).

hehehe

I'd better close and try to stand under a hot shower for my back for a while. When I am done in there it will be time to call Dr. Mario's office- Just in time to be behind the barrage of phone calls that any office receives on a Monday...

Wow. What a weekend, indeed!

Hope yours was as fun as mine! I hope too that you were able to spend time with family and friends, the very special kind that aren't afraid to offer, to show up, to sweat, and to pitch in.
OH! It is always so nice to have friendly voices around! (No offense to my Little Miss Punk).
hehehe

Love to all.

XOXO
Me

PS
As a side note, for those who read and replied, we still know nothing further of Casey's impending surgery.
Perhaps I must go roll a few heads in the insurance, and the contract health department...

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: "Security should be taken seriously, and it's great that people are kind-hearted enough to think of warning others. But take the time to think twice before spreading a hoax message to your friends." -- Graham Cluley,

Cans stuck- Cane broke. "hehehe"

Good Morning All;
Been a while again, I know...
Nice picture, eh? But of course there is a story to it!
Getting ready to shower the other morning, I needed no more caffeine after opening the shower curtain. The guy on the right -->>>> was jumping across my tub as I reached to turn the water on.
Commence mouth and engage vocal sounds...
Took a while to regulate my breathing - even after Punk came running at my squeal and killed it for me.
But yes, I did get showered, finally.
Spiders, me no likey.
And no, that picture is not the one I had- He was flushed just as soon as I could bear to grab him through the paper towel. I found that picture on a Google search...

I was quite proud of myself yesterday. I didn't whine or beg or complain, but I did get my own trash and recycle dumpsters down the driveway all by myself. I also brought them back up last night; empty of course. It wasn't easy, and I am quite proud of myself.

I haven't mowed my lawn in a long time. ("Ah can't do it, Cap'n, Ah juss can't do it.")
I even tried again yesterday. One little swipe around the yard when, of a sudden, the Cub Cadet began smoking. (Perhaps it is at that age). hehehe

At any rate, I scurried my a$$ off that mower after shutting off both the blades, and the mower.
(Well hey, as much as I can "scurry" anyway).

After this mowing fiasco, I sprayed Raid on all my window sills, and screens. (Now my windows have to be cleaned too)! Hope I have enough vinegar.

I had called Sam, he will come mow for me with the big tractor. Then I called Jim, he will look at my abandoned mower - probably on Sunday. (It is in the backyard, out by the plum tree. I will leave it right there too).

Maybe I have tried enough. Maybe not. (I think I did). There were a few times that my back refused to allow me to even get on the darn rider- A few other times that I could barely move at all to even get outside. So naturally THOSE days are out.

I had wanted to get this all done before my Dr. appointment today. I go in again for 6 more shots to my back.
Casey will be taking me, she is yet sleeping upstairs.

Punk will be having a bath while we are in town. She is still sleeping too, (probably hoping that she never has to have a bath anywhere but here). But she is too big now to have her in the shower with me. Or perhaps I am too scared to even try any more; I'd probably break something else.

Punk went in last week for her annual shots, and her annual checkup too. Again, her "glands" had to be cleared out. Suffice to say she was not pleased.
hehehe
She enters the vets office with all pomp and silliness. Gets weighed. Then waits ever so patiently. Once she spots Dr. Spires, that happy and well-behaved demeanor completely disappears, and she (tries most desperately to) head for the door.
At least she has finally learned not to try to "hide" under the chairs. (For some reason this position always left her even more vulnerable to his gloved hand)!
hehehe

I had to go to the store the other day- Groceries and all. I use the little electric carts to get around, but have my cane with to make sure I can stand to reach stuff on the top shelf if need be.
So... I get to the canned soups section. I love the Chunky Clam Chowder, and it's too cheap to make me want to make my own little batch. The cans are in roller shelving, instead of sitting right on the flat shelf.  The Clam chowder cans were stuck. I used my cane to stick in the roller thing to free the stuck can. I tried to pull my cane out, and I almost didn't get it back out. The damn self feed shelving had eaten my cane. When I finally got it out, it was bent a bit, and minus the tip!!! I shall try to replace it today.
I sheepishly told the lady at the help counter. She laughed too.
Heck, t
hose cans are probably STILL stuck! hehehe

I'd better close, fold my clothes; and get my backside in the shower.

Love to all.

For my Blog E-Mail Friends/ Casey surgery

Casey will be having some surgery, locally, as early as next week.
I will explain more in a very private blog on here soon.
If you are not on Multiply, please join, and send me an invitation.
This surgery, compared to her TP/AIT, is minor. Yet, to hear the doctor here speak, it is major. He will be contacting Dr. Sutherland before scheduling this.

Super Congress. (We'll take soup).

"Kangaroo Congress" is right...
Read on.
XOXO, Me

RootsAction and The Other 98% have teamed up to call for a champion to stop the "Super Congress" before it starts.

The so-called 'Super Congress' created by last week's disastrous debt deal is neither Super nor a Congress. It sets up a separate Kangaroo Congress, affecting everyone and elected by no one. It requires a majority of seven out of twelve members to set our national priorities for years to come, empowered to slash Medicare and other necessities without repercussion, and to override the choices of our 535 Representatives and Senators without recourse.

We're looking for a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus brave enough to repeal the Super Congress law now. With anyone who voted against the debt deal unlikely to be appointed, we need to stop this Super Congress before it can start.

We need legislation to be introduced right away to undo the Super Congress, before appointments can be made next week. Sign our letter to the members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus today.
Dear Progressive Caucus members,

The 'Super Congress' created by the debt ceiling deal is a disaster - and with anyone who voted against the deal unlikely to be appointed, we need at least one member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus brave enough to act now, introducing legislation against this Kangaroo Congress before it can be constituted. This is not even a question of policy, but of maintaining a representative republic. We need a champion ready to step up.

When I saw the subject line "Super Congress. (We'll take soup)" I damn near fell outta my chair!
Too funny!!!!

Now Wisconsin is on to bigger, (and vastly more important), things... OUT WITH WALKER!!!

Facts for my Teacher Friends, From Wisconsin

For everyone who sent the original email to me, read this and weep...

A baker’s dozen lies in the “Walker was right” viral email

If you have any wingnut relatives, friends or co-workers, you’ve probably received an email containing the Washington Examiner post below.  The post asserts that Wisconsin’s Gov.Scott Walker’s attack on teacher’s unions have been proven correct by the wonderful results.

I sense you’re thinking “bull excrement.”  Such a thought is spot on.

The post is not long, so the lies are densely packed.  I’ll unpack them for you.

First, here’s the manure pile:

Remember the violent and disgusting demonstrations over Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker doing away with the collective bargaining for teacher’s unions? The results are in. Some school districts went from a $400,000 deficit to a $1,500,000 surplus as a result. Why? It seems that the insurance company that provided all the “so-called” benefits to the teachers, was an insurance company owned and operated by the teacher’s union. Since they were guaranteed to get the insurance business from the teachers and the State had to pay for it, and not the teachers, they were increasing the annual costs every single year to become the most expensive insurance company in the state.  Then the insurance company was donating millions and millions of dollars to their favorite democrat politicians, who when they got elected, guaranteed to keep funding the unions outrageous costs. In other words, the insurance company was a “pass through” for Wisconsin taxpayer money directly to the democrat politicians. Nice racket, and this is the racket that is going on in every single State that allows collective bargaining. No wonder the States are taking it away. Now that the State of Wisconsin is free to put the insurance contract out for bid, and lo and behold, they have saved so much money it has turned deficits into surplus amounts. As a result, none of the teachers had  to be laid off, everyone got a raise, etc., etc., and the taxpayers of Wisconsin don’t have to pay more taxes to fund the union’s political ambitions. If you weren’t aware of the reasons why Gov. Walker was fighting to take away collective bargaining, it gives you an idea of the problem the Republican Party has. Outside of one or two, none of them know how to speak up and explain properly what the problem was. We could sure use a Ronald Reagan now, someone who could explain things for people to understand, since we know that people don’t like to read anymore.

My my, where shall we begin?

Let’s start with the lie that is the heart of the matter: that schools are saving millions thanks to Walker’s union busting.

First, busting the unions — that is, killing collective bargaining — was unnecessary if what Walker wanted to do was change the way some teachers bought health insurance.

Second, I said “some teachers” because at the start of this year, WEA Trust, the 40-year-old not-for-profit organization that’s made out to be the villain here, insured only 35% of Wisconsin’s teachers. Gee whiz, you’d think they’d need a much larger market share than that to be a monopolistic monster destroying the state budget.

Third, it was not the union busting or the change of an insurance plan that saved money for the Kaukauna school district, the one the Examiner used as its example to “prove” Walker correct, but a host of other cuts.

Kaukauna, like all school districts in the state, will recognize cost savings as a result of the budget bill’s requirement of employees to pay an increased portion of their insurance coverage and pensions (something to which the unions had readily and repeatedly agreed), but according to Kaukauna’s 2011-2012 operating budget, the greatest portion of its deep cuts has little to do with the provisions in the budget bill and, sadly, will have a direct and negative effect in the classroom. (Update: Here’s the district’s own document spelling out the cuts. They start about page 14.)

Kaukauna’s greatest cost “saving” — $1.5 million — is from taking away the jobs of 61 employees. Another chunk — almost $307,000 — came from a drastic modification of  the kindergarten program for 4-year-olds.  Other cuts: $275,445 from buildings and grounds maintenance; $248,064 from IT; $180,000 from student transportation; $127,500 from “other district operations”;  and $95,121 from reconfiguring the administrative assistance.  That’s more than $2.7 million in cuts for the district with nary a word about the employee benefit package provided by the WEA Trust.  Note that the $2.7 million in cuts is considerably more than the $1.9 million turn around celebrated — and falsely attributed to insurance cuts for teachers — by the Examiner.

Fourth, when the Examiner says the insurance company, WEA Trust, is “owned and operated by the teachers’ union,” WEAC, the Examiner is lying.  They are separate legal entities.  The WEA Trust is a not-for-profit insurance company regulated by the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance. I verified this with Wisconsin’s Office of the Commissioner of Insurance; I wonder why the writer in the Examiner did not.  No, I don’t wonder — I know:  The writer wanted to give you false information to fool you into buying his political lies.

Fifth, when the Examiner writes the WEA Trust was “guaranteed to get the insurance business from the teachers,” the Examiner lies.  As noted earlier, WEA Trust covered only 35% of the state’s teachers, not the 100% it would have were it “guaranteed to get the insurance business from the teachers.”  With collective bargaining intact, school districts bargained their benefits with the union at the local level.  The insurance carrier  had to be agreed upon by both the district and the union at the bargaining table.  WEA wins and loses business all the time, as do its competitors.

Sixth, when the Examiner writes “the insurance company was donating millions and millions of dollars to their favorite democrat politicians,” the Examiner both lies and shows it doesn’t know basic grammar, something you’d expect from news outlet.

“Democrat” is a noun and cannot be used to modify the word “politician” (or any other word).  The adjective the writer should have used is “Democratic.”  But the Right has been using this juvenile attempt to slight the party to the Left for years, and the Examiner is merely marching along in lock step.

More importantly, the insurance company has never donated a single thin dime to any politician or any political party.  I verified this through the online database at the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, an organization that tracks who gives money to which politician and in what amount.

By the way, the teachers’ union, WEAC — not the insurance company, WEA Trust — has given tens of thousands of dollars in contributions to dozens of Republican candidates.  Something the Examiner wishes you not to know.

Seventh, when the Examiner writes  ”the insurance company was a ‘pass through’ for Wisconsin taxpayer money directly to the democrat politicians,” it repeats the error of grammar and creates another lie.  WEA Trust does not funnel — “pass through” — money into WEAC to be used for political contributions, because that would violate state and federal laws and would easily be detected by the regular audits to which it is subjected via the regulations of the Wisconsin office of Insurance Commissioner.

Eighth, when the Examiner writes “Now that the State of Wisconsin is free to put the insurance contract out for bid…” it is lying by implication. As noted earlier, WEA Trust covered only 35% or our teachers — meaning about two thirds (that’s most) teachers got their insurance elsewhere.  How would that happen if there was no competition for  these contracts?

Ninth, when the Examiner writes “the State had to pay for it (the benefits package), and not the teachers,” it is lying.  The benefits package is part of the teacher’s compensation package — that is, part of their pay for the vital work they perform.  The money could go directly into their  individual pockets, or they could pool their resources to be smart buyers (which is what they did through their union), but either way, it’s the teachers’ money.

Tenth, this — “none of the teachers had  to be laid off (and) everyone got a raise” — is a lie.  Nearly 500 teachers were laid off at once, and that was just in Milwaukee. There have been extensive layoffs in districts all around the state, in addition to a flood of retirements and positions that are not being filled.  Every teacher in the state has also taken a pay cut as a result of the mandated increase insurance and pension contributions — in addition to salary freezes in most districts.

Eleventh, this — “As a result…. the taxpayers of Wisconsin don’t have to pay more taxes to fund the union’s political ambitions.” — is a lie by implication.  It implies that prior to Walker’s union busting, tax payer money was funding teacher union political contributions, which we already know is completely false.

Twelfth, the implication that the teacher’s union (not the insurance company) is giving “millions and millions” in contributions to “favorite” political candidates is false.  A lie.  The database at the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign shows that over the past decade the teacher’s union — WEAC, not the insurance WEA Trust — has given just $698,748 to candidates. That’s a bit over $69,000 a year.  That’s not a lot in political spending terms, especially spread over 10 yaers.  What’s more, they made 589 contributions, which means a hell of a lot more than a few “favorites” received contributions.  It also means the average contribution was under $1,200. In political terms, that’s peanuts.

Finally, when the Examiner writes that Wisconsin protests were “ violent and disgusting,” it lies in the extreme. The fact is that the protesters produced no arrests and the local police actually publicly thanked the crowd for its civility.   Over the past five months — a time when there have been tens of thousands of protesters (sometimes more than 100,000) at the Capitol — there have been only two violent incidents reported.

Both occurred during the Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice-sponsored Solidarity Sing Along, and both were perpetrated by Capitol insiders: one by a former Republican state senator and one by a middle manager in the Walker Administration.

Walker’s guy appears to have bloodied himself while stabbing a protester’s balloon and then roughing her up (when we outlaw balloons, only outlaws will have balloons?). We also had Gov. Walker fantasizing about violent acts against Democrats and considering instigating violence against the protesters.

Perhaps the Examiner is merely following the example of Fox News when it lied — repeatedly — to cast the protesters as violent, rude “thugs.”  So desperate was Fox that it comically tried to a pass off as being from Wisconsin in March a video of a scuffle that had  palm trees in the background!

Whatever the reason behind the Examiner‘s impressive pile of bull, there is no justification for it, no truth in it, and everyone involved in producing it has earned our disdain.

Wisconsin's Upcoming Recall Elections

Good morning All;
I need a bit of a favor... Pretty please?

Out of curiosity, if you would look in your local papers, under the politics section, I am very curious to know what other places/towns/people might be saying about Wisconsin's recall elections? (And most especially in the comments sections of said articles).

Links are fine, but it will take me a while to get through them all (damned dial~up).
Quotes, with links- even better.

I have a pain appointment this morning, then maybe i will be OK to mow a bit of the lawns around here.
At any rate, I'll be back!
hehehe

Have a 'wunnaful' Thursday!

Happening...

Where's God While these things are happening?

Good Morning Everyone.
I have two questions today, bound to be upsetting to some of you... But that is not my intent.

I am sure that most of you have heard/read the stories online about the little girl in Arizona who died after being locked in box.
The same little girl also was reported to have endured the abuse while her family lived in Utah.
They moved from Utah to escape possible child abuse charges. The school had caught on. (Sadly, the system never caught up).

These stories make me ill inside.
  • How many times over have we read these stories?
  • How many times more?
  • What will it take?
All the questions are unable to be answered.

As are my questions...
  • Where is God (or whatever your religion calls him), while all these horrible things happen?
  • How in the world can anything like this be reduced to "Gods Will" ?

Please click the links and read...

XOXO
Anne
