RootsAction and The Other 98% have teamed up to call for a champion to stop the "Super Congress" before it starts.
The so-called 'Super Congress' created by last week's disastrous debt deal is neither Super nor a Congress. It sets up a separate Kangaroo Congress, affecting everyone and elected by no one. It requires a majority of seven out of twelve members to set our national priorities for years to come, empowered to slash Medicare and other necessities without repercussion, and to override the choices of our 535 Representatives and Senators without recourse.
We're looking for a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus brave enough to repeal the Super Congress law now. With anyone who voted against the debt deal unlikely to be appointed, we need to stop this Super Congress before it can start.
We need legislation to be introduced right away to undo the Super Congress, before appointments can be made next week. Sign our letter to the members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus today.
