Snow~Shine!

Snow~Shine!
216 magnify

Good Morning ALL!

Yes, the sun was shining so brightly yesterday! I went out and chipped away at the stubborn ice on the concrete... Little by little it is disappearing. I plowed the yard a bit more; removing the top, loosened by the sun, layer, so that maybe more can go away today. (I have YET to find any gravel under anything that I plow up).
Casey even came out for a while and move a bunch of snow and ice from the corner of the house. I tried to dig it out with the plow, from underneath, but it wouldn't budge.

We seriously need about a week of this wonderful sunshine. Sadly though, according to the forecast this morning, it will be about a week before we see another ray...

My good intentions of hanging out the laundry on the line were also a bit thwarted by Mother Nature.

.

Am glad I happened to check it out before I stripped all of the beds too!
.
My clothesline MORE than a bit inaccessible...
.
.
.
The Punk (being the sweetie that she is), offered to help me out...
Saying she'd dig it all out for me!
.
.
.
.
But I don't think she was really prepared for how deep it really was!
.
.
.
.
And she just kept going deeper!
hehehe

.

.

So then it was time to clear the yard a bit. As I was doing so, I realized that this pup was spending a very long time behind a snowbank... And would look up every now and then like she was checking on me...

.

.

Seems to me she was hiding SOMEthing,
...in her mouth!
.
.
.
.
And then one time, she didn't lay down quite far enough...
.
.
.
.

Hmmm....
Definitely something in her mouth!
.
.
.
.
I called her out of there to see what she had.
.
.
.
.

She KNEW she was going to lose that one.
It's a Devils Claw seed pod. (I save them year to year).
.
.
.
She tried to drop it and it actually got stuck on her face.
I laughed so hard!
(I think she thought I had something to do with that)!!!
.
.
.
.
I think she was also mad at me for the rest of the day too...
hehehe
How pitiful is THAT?

.

Not much other news...

I do see that other peoples "groups" have magically reappeared on their top pages...
Mine have not yet come back.
But I do see that my top page feeds have updated. KNOCK ON WOOD...

But my tags on the left of my blog do not work... Do yours?

My highlighted blogs on the right seem to be working though.

Is our beloved 360 ready then to be overhauled?
Or are they doing this new "transition" a little bit at a time?
...Like we won't notice?
Yeah, like when they made me disappear????
knocking on wood again...

I hope you are all having a wonderful Monday!

Casey called about 2 this morning- She was in some major pain.
That said, I'd better get my backside outside, and get the kennel taken care of so if she goes in early I can tag along...

Love to all!

XOXO
Anne

Full Moon amd Freezie Temps

Entry for February 24, 2008

These will be your Christmas trees in years to come!
hehehe
.
.

Good Sun-ny-day Morning to ALL;
It is with GREAT pleasure that I tell you the sun is shining brightly already, and the mercury is even headed for over 30 degrees today!

~Say "YAY"!

.
Another day of these temps and sunshine, and the roads will be much safer too!
.

It has been a long week for me.
Times like these, I feel as though I have somehow lost time- At least a few days with respect to my head.
Am feeling '
nermuller' today though!

Greg and Casey braved the weather, (a record setting low for us that night), to watch the lunar eclipse...

.
As it rose high in the sky...
.
.
.
.
.
And as it turned into a fuzzy giant apricot !!!
???
hehehe

.

.

Not too much other news today...

 I shall try to capitalize on the warmer temps and maybe even get a few loads of linens washed and hung on the line to dry.
What a MOST welcomed smell as I bring them in and make the beds this afternoon!

Miss Milly will be very happy to be able to stay outside tonight!
I will be happy also, not having to listen to her try to whine her way back out...

And maybe Punk won't be sinking quite as deep in the snow as she has for the past (forever).
Or so it seems.

.

.

Yes, I had my snowshoes on.
There is simply no other way to go for a walk right now...
if I wish to remain somewhat dry, that is,
and if I wish to walk anyplace but the yard.
Notice too that there is still another foot or so below where she is trying to stand.

.

.

Hopefully, the next snowstorm that we had been warned about a few days back will track another route instead of dumping another foot of snow on us tomorrow evening.
We shall see...
And while I am sure that all of my friends down Milwaukee way have had enough snow too, my back thanks you all profusely for taking the brunt of this storm away from us up here.

.

Love to all!
Have a great Sunday!!!

XOXO
Anne

LLR "Loud Little Rag"

LLRR
200 magnify
FLINTVILLE, UNINCORPORATED

.

Good Morning All;

I am "mostly" back to normal (whatever THAT is), with respect to my head.
I am still feeling so very tired and mush~brained from taking that Topamax. And I hope to heck that feeling goes away soon.
Half the time I don't even go from one rational thought to another.

Hey, Wanna ride bikes?
See?
hehehe

OK.
So it's not that bad, but heck, it sure seems that way...

Casey did bring me in for a shot on Tuesday. To the Oneida clinic to save a few dollars.
I do not have a standing order there, but thought I would try anyway. I have gone in there twice in the past two years for a shot. At least it is free there.
I had gotten in right away, an appointment with a physicians assistant
(This, because my own doctor was off until Thursday).
The kindly nurse that checked me in got me into a dark and quiet room right away, took my blood pressure, and before she left, turned the lights off for me. Casey was also in the room with me...

The little lady PA came in; (with a loud mouth and an attitude to boot).
She asked me when my migraine had begun.
Pulling away from her loud voice I told her it had begun the day before at the eye doctor appointment I'd had.
She asked, "And so WHY didn't we hear from you then?"

Thinking perhaps she would take her cue from me and lower her tone, I quietly replied, "Because I never call right away. Sometimes they go away."

Thumbing through my chart, this Loud Little Rag asks me what I had taken for it.

**I told her I had taken hydrocodone when it had started because I had nothing else along with me when I was at the eye doctor.
No relief there.

**I had taken the Maxalt when I got home. No relief.
(And please recall from my other blog that I should not be taking the Maxalt along with the Paxil because of the possibility of dangerously high blood pressure~ I did NOT take the Paroxetine (Paxil) that night then)...

**I had tried the Ascomp.
Little relief, but not lasting more than an hour.

The Loud Little Rag asks loudly have I ever seen a neurologist?
Yes.
When?
I tell her it was 4 years ago.
Who?
I think, and honestly cannot remember the lady doctors name.
I tell LLR that I cannot remember.
She demands to know why.
And I tell her that because when I had left that office on Riverside Drive, I had a voice mail waiting for me. My sister had just been diagnosed with a Grade Three, Stage IIIc Breast Cancer, and if she thought that one doctors name would be more important than that voice message then she was dead wrong.

She asked a few more questions. (Mostly Casey answered).
I told her quietly that she was being very, very, loud.
Sarcastically she replies, "Well, I am very, very, sorry."

Does she lower her voice?
Not one bit.

She then asked me about my panic attacks, proclaiming that she 'noticed' that I had these headaches after a panic episode...

Note that she has had her nose in my chart for all of about 4 minutes!
(Damn. She's good)!
Sorry. I refuse to speak with ANYone about my anxiety attacks, save for my own doctor...
(This pisses her off).
Oh well.
But, at any rate, my migraines do NOT follow, precede, or accompany my anxiety attacks.

These are two separate and distinct matters.
Twit.
(No. I did not say any of these nasty things out loud, though both Casey and myself grew hard pressed not to).

Pissed, she then asked me how often I went to the ER for my migraines.
I told her I never go there because I have no insurance.

At that point I have been up since midnight, fighting off this incredible nausea, wearing my little sunnies in my dark house.
I cannot go back to sleep because my brain even hurts with each breath I take, let alone try to sleep while there is WWIII going on inside my skull.
My guts are also joining in on the action because I had taken the Maxalt and guts do NOT like Maxalt.
(Suffice it to say that with Maxalt, one needs absolutely NO fiber in their diet).

And this woman thinks she can make my day worse?

Sadly, yes she can.
And she did.

She left the room.
Returning with... a Maxalt!
WHAT???
I looked at her, (best I could with the xray light on), and told her no.

She was even more furious by then.

And I quietly throw out my last card...
"You ARE aware that Maxalt is contraindicated in persons taking Paroxetine, aren't you?"
She looked at me, madder than hell, and said, "I will tell Dr. Flood that you are refusing treatment."

Do what you have to do.

Yes, the story goes on some. And I am ever so thankful that Casey was there to answer questions when I didn't even want to hear that ladys voice any more. Didn't want to answer, and just wanted to die...

Suffice it to say that I was then offered some toradol.
The good doctor Flood that was there stated to Casey (after she'd hunted him down), that he
"refuses to allow his patients to dictate their own course of treatment".

She showed him pointing out IN MY CHART, exactly HOW I had been treated both of those other times.
He dismissed her quite as one would a pest of a child.
Not even offering to treat my nausea.

Uh~Oh
By that time, Casey is more royally pissed than I am...

But I did end up leaving there, and within minutes being treated at the other place where I usually go. (No stupid, prying, or loud, and incessant questions asked either).
I believe that the simple act of human kindness that they show me there actually brought me close to tears.

Within minutes my nausea was brought under control, replaced by an annoying bit of heartburn.
The head takes a while longer to 'heal' and to stop hurting, but at the very least it was relieved much by the hypo.

In the meantime, Casey had scheduled me an appointment to go speak with my regular physician yesterday morning and to clue him in on how I was treated.
I managed to keep that appointment too.
Amazingly, he told me who to write to.

Now I have only one question...
What would YOU say to them?
Please let me know. I thank you in advance...

XOXO
Anne

Churlish and Unpleasant...

Churlish and Unpleasant...
Churlish and Unpleasant... magnify

The title describes me today...

(You HAVE been warned).

Good Morning All;
As you well know, I rarely get political. I neither consider myself Republican nor Democrat. (Does that mean I am not a "party person")?!? hehehe

But I do have a few words to say today since it is Wisconsins Primary.

#1.
I would re-elect Bill Clinton 100 times before I would ever vote for Hilary. Something about that broad just rubs this broad the wrong way...

(Special NOTE to readers: There is no Number TWO).

I believe that the BEST candidate for the job will be the one that will:

~Make (and keep) our borders safe. Land, sea, and air.
(Bring the troops home in a timely fashion and have them protect US).
Let other countries kill themselves. May the best one win.
(Redneck? You betcha)!

~Feed and treat our own children before sending ANY of our homegrown food or medications overseas.
(Hello WASHINGTON, our American children are starving and sick, what the hell are you doing in Africa)?

~Ensure that ALL medical care goes ONLY to AMERICAN CITIZENS, and that others (including legal, but alien, college students) pay their own way as our forefathers did.
(Are you still in Africa for cryin' out loud)?

~Ensure that any/all ILLEGALS BE SENT BACK.
(Buses and boats, baby; nothing cushy)...

~Any alien committing a felony gets sent back immediately.
No trial. No questions asked. Immediate deportation.
(Behave or be gone).

~Ensure that FEMA helps, but does NOT give permanent free rides to anyone for any reason.
(Nuff said).

~Screw all imports.
(We don't need them. See above. Put those people to work).

~Pay our educators exactly what they are worth. And make them prove their value first.
(Sorry GW, there are WAY too many children left behind already)...

~Did I forget to mention with a deep sense of GREEN?

If anyone knows who fills this bill, kindly let me know.
You have a couple of hours while I go out and plow the damned snow. (Or "nosw")...

.

So yes, "HAVE IT YOUR WAY."
hehehe

Just get out there and VOTE!
Exercise your right to vote,
your civil duty;
OR,
Forfeit your right to whine about it...

.

It is currently 1 teeny tiny little degree below zero.
I am not sure about the windchill; nor do I want
to know.
My snowbanks are so HUGE already... Don't know where it will all go if we don't get a few melting days soon.

Hmm...
Yes, I went to the eye doctor yesterday.
I didn't get good news... but I didn't necessarily get really 'bad' news either.
I did however, get a biotch of a migraine...
I will fill you all in later on all of that.

I'd better get my butt in gear.
First, the dishes... To warm me up good before I go outside.

Have a great day!

Love to all

XOXO
Anne

Good Morning Everyone;

First of all, please keep Prattville, Alabama in your prayers... CLICK HERE
My son in law, his wife Lori and my grandson Lawrence live there...

And what a LONG day yesterday was for us.
I awoke shortly after 3. Casey came down about 4- Pain in her back, and a flare~up of her pancreas too. (More than a bit uncomfortable). Still, on a positive note, the holistic meds that Greg has found for her have shown a decent improvement in her chronic pancreatitis.
On Saturday evening, Greg had gone down to Sheboygan for his L.A.R.P. (Live Action Role Playing). Since the storm had not yet begun, he decided to come here when he was done with that. Casey and I were asleep and he played on the computer for quite a while until Casey woke. They talked for a long time.

About 4:45AM I heard the first "sneet" hitting the window in the living room.
("Sneet = snow + sleet).
Needing to go to Suamico for gas for my little snowplow, (and knowing what Mother Nature had in store for us), I decided to get ready to go. I also decided that since the roads would not get better for a long time that Greg might want to get back to Green Bay while he still could since he has to work this morning...
Casey chose to go with him, leaving her car here. (Safer that way).

.

By 8:00 WBAY-TV reported that there was an inch of sleet on the roads.
This, on Caseys car, just after the snow began...

.

I had "led" the way to Suamico shortly after 5AM.
Gregs car already with a layer of ice on it...
*****And Folks, ...if it's on your car, it's on the roads.

I kept the passenger side tires on the shoulder of the road. The snow and the gravel there providing much more traction than any part of the road could at that point. Punk, (in the passenger seat), would keep looking over at me. Perhaps because I was going so~o~o~o slow, or maybe because the shoulder of the road made for some very strange noise on the tires...

.

Knowing that my friend Kelli is never prepared for these little storms, I picked her up a pack of smokes while I was at the gas station; and dropped them in her mailbox on the way home. (She is much like me, and there is always a light on in the house). Still, I thought I saw movement within when I was at their mailbox.
Taking a chance, I pulled in their driveway.
Telling Punk to stay, I opened the door ~and immediately heard "Hello?"
hehehe
She WAS up! (And on her way out to feed the horses)!

.

Breezy and May-
Completely oblivious to the sleet,
patiently waiting for their breakfast

.

.

Mays mane almost looks like dreadlocks!

.

.

Kelli needed a few things from Suamico as well. By this time her car had a ton of ice on it. Mine was warm and cleared off. So back to Suamico we went in my car. Another slow trek...

.

But we were both home safe and sound by about 7:30...

Caseys car had changed a bit too.

.

.

And I did what any other snow worn Wisconsinite would do.
I tore my house apart.
But please do not misunderstand. I wore myself out tearing it apart. It still needs to be put back together!
hehehe
I did a few dishes. Took out the garbage and the recycles. Did a bit of dusting. And took a nap after I'd watched the snow obscure any view of anything outdoors.

When I awoke, everything had been magically transformed once again...

Even Caseys car...

.

Yes, it really IS under there!
.
.
.
.
.

Still laughing...
.
.
.
.

Anyone for a picnic?
Or a little Joe Pye Weed?
hehehe
.
.
.
.
.
.

My driveway is gone!
.
.
.
.
.

The little birdhouse has an added layer of insulation!
.
.
.
.
.

An added layer where I really didn't need it either...
.
.
.
.
.

Nor where Milly wanted it.
.
.
.
.

With a few cusswords for Old Man Winter, I picked up the shovel, (already with snow having relocated itself into my boots), and cleared out the front door...

And decided it was time to call the truck. I thank God once more for Jim!
He was here within the hour, and it took him about that long to clear the yard too. I dug myself into Caseys igloo car and got it running (with both defrosters going full blast).
I cleared her car off with a broom. (No way her little car sweeper would do this job)!
Then I started my own little plow while Jim was tackling the second driveway. I tried to clear most of the snow from around her car. Happy I have those chains on to deal with the darned ice under the nosw. Jim ended up having to pull the mother lode of snow away from her car, and I shoeveled the rest out from around the tires. Her car had been running for about 20 minutes at this point.
I still had to move the car with the door open so I could see, so thick was that ice...
But at least with the car moved, Jim could clear that part of the yard too.
He then widened the two driveways, cleared access tio the mailbox and was gone. I spent the next few hours trying to tidy up the yard. It also took me the better part of half an hour to get the ice off Caseys windows... But at least (for now), it is clean enough...

Almost every school in NE Wisconsin is closed. AND, they were closed already last night. Better that way so that parents can make arrangements for the kids...
They say the roads are still quite bad. I have an eye doctor appointment at one. Will have to leave early once again...

Last but not least, I want to thank those of you who worried right along with me and offered prayers for my family in Prattville last night...

Now just one question for you all...

Is it blasphemous or sacreligious for me to have laughed hysterically when I saw this?

.

Those of you who recall, know my BVM is about 20" tall,
and she generally looks like this...
.
.
.
EVEN IN WINTER!!!!
.
.
.
.
.

Have a safe and warm day!

Love to all!

Prayers for Prattville, Alabama

Prattville, Alabama

As many of you know, my son in law, William, his wife Lori, and my grandson Lawrence, live in Prattville, Alabama.

It is Lawrence's Birthday today, and I spoke with both Lawrence and William this morning. All was well at that point...

This, just out minutes ago...

Associated Press - February 17, 2008 9:53 PM ET

PRATTVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Severe weather is howling through much of the nation. There were damaging tornadoes in the South that injured nearly 30 people and freezing rain, snow and flooding in parts of the Midwest.

A tornado damaged or destroyed about 200 homes and businesses in Prattville, Alabama.

No fatalities were immediately reported, but two people were critically injured, according to fire officials. Twenty-seven people had minor injuries.

About 9,000 homes and businesses lost power in Prattville.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Neither Roberta nor myself have been able to make contact with anyone yet. I am guessing that this tornado has wiped out cell phone towers as well as land lines... And am waiting to hear anything.
For right now, I need to get off the computer.
At any rate, please keep them in your prayers.
Love to all.
XOXO
Anne
New this morning...
After calling almost everywhere she could think of, Roberta finally made contact with Williams sister in law late last night. (They live in Georgia, and thankfully have working phone lines).
They were also at Williams mothers to celebrate Lawrences birthday when the tornado struck.
(Thank God it was Lawrences birthday)...
Everyone is alright.
God Bless the wonderful example he is setting for his sons, Blaine and Lawrence.
And God Bless everyone that this terrible storm has affected.
Miss Milly... as she generally looks at us all!
.
Good Morning ALL!
I finally mustered the energy to get my backside outside to plow the yard yesterday morning. It was kind of chilly too, 1 or 2 above zero, with a windchill of about 5 or 10 below. But I was dressed for it too. I called Jim so he could come with the truck and widen up a few of the snowbanks; especially at the end of the driveways.
I never thought I would despise the darned snow like I do right now. SO much of it. Everywhere.
Casey had a recheck appointment in the afternoon for her back- So I was gone when Jim got here, but he sure did a nice job.
Asplundh also came while we were gone and brought another truckload of wood chips for mulch.
(Kind of nice that even when I'm gone SO very much gets done)! hehehe
I awoke this morning to what??? About another inch and a half of snow.
Why am I not surprised anymore???
And the forecast you ask?
Already the bulletins are out for tomorrow...
Posted February 16, 2008
7 inches of snow expected Sunday
The Green Bay area may receive 7 inches of snow Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Ashwaubenon.
Residents should expect some periods of heavy snow with a high near 31 and a low around 13.
Periods of blowing snow are likely to occur Sunday night
Blah. Blah. Blah...
I am SO tired right now.
Kind of a welcomed feeling, as I am generally "up and at 'em" once my eyeballs are open. But I think I will go back to bed in short order. I think the new pills that I talked about yesterday might be kicking in...
First though, I wanted to share with you first what happened to Miss Milly when she decided to take off on me the other day...
Punk and I had gotten in the car and had gone 'in search of' her wayward mama dog. I had gotten stuck on the Gravel Pit road...
And we did not find Miss Milly.
I checked at John and Ginny Ryans old place...
At Cathy Ryans.
At Paul Kaspers.
No Milly.
I drove around the block. (And yes, out here it is a very large block)!
Redwood to Big Sky to Pittco to B...
No Milly.
And I decided to go home.
Coming back over the hill, I pull up to my mailbox.
It is across the road from the house, and due to the indecent and illegal speed of the traffic through here, I quite literally take my life in my hands to get my mail.
So, many times I just pull up in the car, to the box...
As I have just come from the west, the mailbox is on my side of the car. The car is facing traffic, and I am as close as I can get to that box. (The snowbank prevents me from getting any closer).
I check the traffic.
Minimal.
So I roll down the window, and begin to pull mail out of the box.
(I hadn't gotten it for a few days, so there are about three good handfuls for me to grab).
There are two small envelopes in the back that I cannot reach without unfastening my seatbelt and leaning out of the window...
I do this, crack the door, and grab these two sassy notes.
Finished, I refasten my seatbelt, and look up.
There are about 7 cars, stopped, in front of me.
What the heck?
I check the side mirror... About the same number behind me.
What the heck?
This has never happened before. Many cars slow down and go around, but they never stop!
I look around, and see no reason why they would all be stopped
???
Suddenly, peeking over the hood of the car is Miss Milly!!!
Where she has come from is anyones guess, but I do have to get out and get her...
***Please remember that due to where the mailbox is, I might have all of about 5 inches or so clearance for my door where I am parked...
Unfasten seatbelt once more, and exhale.
I force my ribcage through the door, and manage to crawl out...
(I think this was sheer willpower and nothing more)
I grab the beast.
Somehow getting her into the backseat. (She hates being in a car)...
As soon as I do this, the cars clear.
I drive in the yard.
My heart rate lowers to normal, and all is well.
And I thank God that the 1st car to have spotted her decided to stop and wait.
That is all it ever takes you know, is for just one vehicle to stop, and traffic will stop from both ways.
At least that is how it seems to work around these parts.
Did Miss Milly care?
.
Not that I could tell...
.
.
Have a grand weekend!
I have to go nap a bit before my own weekend begins... and I must wake to plow the yard.
Sad that I shall be doing the same darned thing tomorrow too.
And with the winds Sunday night I shall do the same again on Monday...
...I quit.
Love to all.
XOXO
