[My] Life in Wisconsin

Cold Feet; and PUPPIES!!!!

Good Morning All;

It has been a very busy couple of days, and once again I must extend my apologies for not writing or commenting... I have read some of your entries, and as always I am in tears. Tears of joy! Tears of laughter. Tears of sadness. And tears of wonder at such a world we seem to have!

This morning to have been so rudely awakened... My first coherent thought (at a little after 3AM), was "Why on Earth is Miss Milly barking like that?"

Stumbling around in the darkness, I sneak into the kitchen... (Obviously more awake than I am, Punk takes a very large, and very noisy, drink of water)... I peek out the kitchen window toward the kennel. Miss Milly is barking toward the road. Peeking around the corner of the window, I see nothing. But there are about 100 pine trees between myself and the road too, so seeing 'nothing' means very little at this point in time.

Oh well, 'perhaps I can let Punkie out and go back to sleep for just a little while?' She bristles as she goes toward her favorite spot, stopping dead in her tracks. And lets out a little growl... Dang. I am clearly not dressed for this, but I wander out anyway... ~I see 'nothing' again. ~Milly is also now watching Punk. I tell Punk to go potty. She does. She turns tail then, and runs back to the doorway. (So do I).

<maybe I can still go back to sleep?>

...maybe????

... Suddenly those sickening 'dots' and 'blind spots' appear. OK, not back to bed, but back to the kitchen for a maxalt. (And I am thinking how nice it is that it is dark out still)... Thinking that I will just sit for a spell in the living room, I turn to walk there, and step square into a huge puddle of cold water. (If any of you have a lab or a golden then you already know how sloopy they are when they take a drink). I had stepped into her little puddle... In my haste to step out of this damn cold puddle I accidentally kick her whole water dish. Now the top of my foot is as cold and soggy as the bottom... So much for any more 'rest' of any kind. Short of a fatal myocardial infarction, there is no way I shall drift off anymore... And I resign myself to push the button on this machine once again.

The dots gradually disappear. My day begins.

(Milly did not stop barking until the sun had decided to rise from its own overnight nap)...

A bit of fog crawling over the still barren cornfields...

.

.

.

Still dawning, the fog creeps away from my garden, (which is still unfinished).

.

.

.

And with the sunrise, the fog begins to thin out too...

.

.

And turns the field a hazy shade of pink...

.

.

.

Two days ago, this same field where Miss Kelli and Miss Casey had snuck in from the woods, right along with Breezie and May...

Kelli with May~ CaseyAnne with "The Breeze"

Roberta and her friend had just gotten here too with Master Gabriel, who was more than a bit shocked to see those two horses in Grandma's backyard...

He frowned... He smiled... But he walked ever closer too...

.

.

.

Then walks slowly and cautiously to the back yard... still peeking...
...(just before I snatch him up and set him right on Breezie)!
.
.
He is SO happy up there!
As he pets the horse, he loudly announces to the world:
"PUPPY!!!"

.

And it just has to be the biggest damn puppy this little one has ever seen!!! hehehe Even after we tried to tell him it is a 'horse' he says "PUPPY!" again and again...

.

.

As Casey and Kelli head back to Kellis (with the two 'puppies'), the rest of us come inside for a bite. Remember the chili from the day before? It is now magically transformed into chili dogs! (The "good" hot dogs too, from Blazei's old recipe, now used by Olsens Piggly Wiggly in Howard)... Mmmm....

Gabriel decides not to wait for the hot dogs, and pulls the onion bowl to reach what's in it...

.

.

After trying one bite, he continued to eat those spanish onions, BY THE SPOONFUL!
AND, he wanted more on his hot dog!!!!

.

.

A whole bunch of Vitamin C for this little guy, (and we were thinking it was a good thing he didn't have a date that night)! hehehe

I'd better close for now and get my backside outside! Supposed to be 80+ degrees today and if I don't finish that garden soon, I will be harvesting things in November! Werys have the land this year, and will be planting Roma tomatoes, and squash of all kinds. Said they will be in there this week to get those seeds in the ground... (Yay, no more bent and broken cornstalks)!

And I do have to touch base with the vet too as Miss Punkins own backside has been giving her a few more twitches of pain... And she cries out in her sleep sometimes too. Hard to hear that...

But for now I am focused on those 80's Baby. That said, I am outta here!!

Hope all is well with everyone, and that you are having a fine week!

XOXO
Anne
