[My] Life in Wisconsin

Definition please... I must run and do a few errands- (As if I could 'run' to save my twisted soul or anyone elses). I need parts for my rider that blew up on me the other evening... Smoke everywhere!!! But in the meantime, would y'all, {pretty please}, define what your own definition of a "lurker" is? For instance, how many times does one have to visit a page ,blog, entry, etc., to be considered a lurker? Why? It is "curiouser and curiouser" I am... Have fun! XOXO, Me ;-)

  1. I don't know what others will say, but I think of a lurker ONLY as one who views your page but doesn't make any comments. I don't think it has anything to do with how many times someone visits your page for them to be a lurker. I have some of the same people view my blog but never say anything, that doesn't bother me at all.

  2. Actually I see lurkers as people that view my page, take some of my writings, post them in a group and blast me for it because they know they cant do it on my page.
I have several people that view my page and says nothing. But I appreciate that they came to read it.

  4. That's terrible, I've never had that happen to me, probably because I don't post political, religious or controversial things.

  6. Well...basically...a lurker is someone who tries to stay "hidden" while they come to check up on things you say or what others say in those comments. And since we have the ability to SEE who visits our pages, they aren't really "hidden." But...they can have a fake identity, and be visibly seen while still remaining a "lurker." Go check up on THEM. If their page is blocked to you, then block them from seeing your page. And then.....just to be a tad nasty, lol, post a blog with all the photos of those Lurkers. Just say these are on "Annes most lurked list."

I too, will visit a stranger every now and then. But I do have the courtesy to at least say "Hi...Just visiting." Of course, sometimes, I may can visit, but....due to privacy settings, I am not given the opportunity to post a comment. In that case, I am sure I am seen as a lurker as well.

  7. Annie, I'm curious. Unless someone is flaming or harassing you, why do you care if they read your page and don't leave a comment? Sometimes we don't even know when people are lurking on Multiply, they can visit you page without you even knowing they visited. All they have to do is view your page as a non-Multiply member.

  8. Well Anna I surmise that if one keeps on going to a page time after time other than one of their friends and makes no comments or attempt to say hello then I would consider that person a "Lurker" as you say.

I have three at the moment but hey they are only looking so it doesn't really bother me, I do prefer people to come and comment though, and not just a hit and run type thing :-)

  9. Could one count what you call a " Lurker " as a compliment or not ?
