  5. Those clouds sure look like the beginnings of a tornado. Awesome pics! Wish I were there 'cause I'd be standing right along side of ya watching the storm come in. They don't call me storm chaser for nothing.

Good luck at your doctor appointment!

  6. Did somebody drop you on your head, or what???

  7. Dang storm blinded me the whole ride there.
    Then I got completely soaked.
Then I found out I lost three pounds.

THEN when I came out it was only sprinkling...

soggy is no way to go to a dr. appointment...

  8. Everybody seems to like these pics...
    But it was SO creepy.

Driving was ok, til you come upon some dork that doesn't have his dang lights on...
Black as night out there and driving blind...

  9. You lost 3 lbs...even soaking wet?
Well that's understandable after the time you've been having
    I'm surprised it wasn't more

No one has EVER called me a storm chaser.
In Mother Natures little game of Hide and Seek, she hasn't found me yet.
    (knocks on wood)...

I went out and snapped a few pics... Then got all creeped out by the stillness and came right back in.

    I'm a storm wimp.

  13. I never even thought of that all.
Maybe it was chasing around Master Gabriel too?
    hehehe

  14. Seee you didn't find those pounds DeeAnne lost like you said you did!!!

I like pictures of eerie skies but I don't like them above my head...or head toward me....scary!

  15. Pictures two and three really creep me out! Looks like a funnel up there to me. I have not been keeping up with the national weather. We are supposed to get some thundershowers late tomorrow evening. That is not carved in stone. I just don't want skies like that over my house, makes me wish we had basements here.

  17. Happy belated birthday my friend. Having lived through a tornado which took off our roof in Ohio, I have no fear anymore of storms. I figured if I survived that....what the heck...lol. Very pretty pictures. hugs. xoxo.

  18. HA!
    I did too.
But I still have about 40 to go...

There was NO wind whatsoever. It was just spooky!
Quiet as it was, I was watching the skies change right over my own head...
I have never seen anything like this before, unless the sirens were going off down the road...

    ReplyDelete
  19. Watching it creeped me out!
But if it is a funnel cloud, then where was all the wind?
    And the noise?
    Creepy is a good word.
(Hope it wasn't practice for Mother Nature)!

As I look through the pages of the books of homes for sale, I have to look and make sure they have a basement.
Doesn't even have to be finished.
Just has to be there. I AM A WIMP!

  20. Right?
And I was so proud of myself for getting out there and taking those pics...

You must have gotten dropped on your head too...

  22. When I was a kid, I woke up late. (Everyone else was in the barn already).
The windows in my bedroom were MOVING!!!
    And it was 'green' outside.
I woke fast then, grabbed my 'bear' and hustled off downstairs.
As I hit the bottom step, Mom and Mary came in the front door.
Mom hollered for me to 'get in the basement'.
No questions, and I was down there in a flash!

Pa stayed out in the barn as he was milking.
We kept power that morning, and chores were finished without a problem.
There was lots of damage to the south (where lots of my pics are taken, facing the woods).

And that experience is one of those that made me afraid.
Maybe 'cause I was so young at the time...

  23. If I saw clouds forming like that near my house the cats and I would be headed for the basement ASAP! The pictures you took are so incredible (and she lived to tell about them too!). I'm glad the storm passed with no damage to you or your property.

  24. Do you know that if there is dangerous weather that ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is watch those animals.
If they are not freaking out, then you shouldn't be either.
If they are edgy and take off for places unknown, follow them- They will usually head directly TO the basement.
    Weird, but true.

Punk did not want to be outside at that point.
Not sure why. Maybe it was the quiet that bothered her too.

I was in the hospital, October of 2004- My next door neighbor had the cat- My mom and dad had the kids...

Lisa (neighbor) had a small daughter too.

It was early morning, and the thunder had woken Lisa up.
When the storm came, the cat was on her bed.
Suddenly, the cat jumped down and ran to the basement.
Lisa grabbed Sara and followed right behind.
Lightening struck the outside windowsill of the place right next to mine.

Had my kids been there, they would have gotten thrown out of bed.
Had Lisa stayed upstairs she might have gotten thrown too.
(Brick or no brick; that lightning has immense power).

The little boy that lived there, and had his bedroom window struck actually needed stitches to close the gap on his face.

Oh, and Casey can tell y'all a story about getting tossed across her room too. That, when lightning struck our house on Jaworski Road!

  30. That huge long cloud looks like a space-ship! It's massive! And yet you can see the wide blue sky up above it!!! Spookily beautiful though.

  31. That last picture looks like a giant hand coming out of the sky and reaching down... That must've been God removing that nasty funnel cloud looking thing for you! :D

Those are some gorgeous pictures! Just amazing... Did you happen to send them in to the news stations?? They would love those photos!

    Love you Much Much,

  33. Confession time Sweet Beep!
That 'take cover now' was NOT related to the clouds above my place that day. (Just thought it seemed appropriate for the topic at hand).

They do post them when there is tornadic activity- (or alongside storms with winds in excess of 60 or 70 mph). Especially if there is lots of damage- lightning and such.

One of the reasons I do actually like winter (ugh) is that we never have to take cover- only be prepared.
