[My] Life in Wisconsin

...Where Everybody Knows Your Name

 magnify
Just a peek at the colors from my doorway.
.

Good Morning Everyone...
I have not yet heard from Casey this morning, so am taking my time wandering outside, snapping a few pictures, then reading on here.

Our colors are quickly coming to a peak. And on many trees there seems to be a whole pallet of different colors.

Yes this is all on one maple tree!

~Even CaseyAnne has a bit of color in her room!

And a room with a view!!

Looking down,
you see my car in the bestest parking spot!

hehehe

...and with a little "zoom, zoom, zoom"
you get to see the 'Dogs Life'

She sleeps within...
.
.
Caseys 'counts' are all over the place.
Up.
Then down.
Then up.
Back down.

She called last night.
First she was in horrible pain.
Then later to be overjoyed that she had very little pain.
I hung up from that conversation as she was going to be asking her nurse to take her for a little walk.

Oddly though, the counts are not always indicative of her pain levels. Not sure why, but it goes along with knowing that a day has not passed that she has not had pain in her pancreas, however low on the pain scale it may be.
And that same pain can go from annoying to debilitating ever so fast.
Again, this does not always coincide with her amylase and lipase counts.

Wonder if this would count as a "Jello Shot" ???

No shots here, but things have certainly NOT been dull.

'Specially when that varmint gets too close to Punks "stuff".
Nah, he didn't last long after that;
-and has joined his brethren out in the dumpster.

.
.
I do keep the inside door closed so that they don't get up into the house. Even at that, I don't like the thought that they are getting in somewhere. And it bugs the heck out of me that I cannot find out where!?!

I suppose Miss Milly and Mr. Miller feel a bit left out at times.
(No pun intended).

.
.
But they were BOTH royally p*ssed this morning when this big old truck pulled in the yard.

Not me though...
I was overjoyed!
hehehe
Nice and warm in here now-
(now that I really don't need the heat on)...

It is 62° -and sunny outside!
.
.
A "new" driver for Olson Oil.
Alan Kapla.
Not new to me though. I watched lots of these kids grow up when I managed the store at Wouters Front, and being there for the better part of 13+ years.
When I'd mentioned that my daughter had been in the hospital all week, he said, "Not Zoé?" (Guess I know whose class he was in)! hehehe
And so we got a little caught up on our stuff. I told him I was ever so sorry to have heard when his dad got killed. He thanked me for remembering.
(His father, Stanley, killed horribly 2 years ago as he had worked on one of his heavy duty trucks).

So 'Life in Flintville' goes on.
Kind of like "Cheers" that way- 'Everybody knows your name'
... And if they don't, know they will soon.

There is an old sign down at Wouters, chipped and cracked now, but shows its age...
"There's not much to see in a small town.
But what you hear makes up for it."

Sometimes funny, sometimes sad in it's own way;
but always, ALWAYS, true.

Have a 'wunnaful' Friday!
I will too; just as soon as Casey calls that she is released!
Wouldn't that be nice?!?!

Love to all.

XOXO
Anne

  4. Your camera takes such clear pictures!! wow! what type of camera is it honey? Also ...I do love small towns..you are blessed to be surrounded by such lovely fall-time beauty and such a close community as well...My kind of living.

  5. That tree with all those colors is proof of how beautiful Fall is.

Punk looks so lonely down in the car. Does she know that is where Casey is?

And you can forget trying to figure out how the meeces get inside. If there is a space anywhere, no matter how small, they will squeeze through it. Or chew it out and make it bigger so they can.

Hugs and Prayers for Casey! Hope she feels better soon.

  6. Ahh thank you so much for sharing the beautiful colors of fall! They are nice to see since all I have are these ugly dirty yellow/brown leaves.

There is nothing like a small town. My Grandpa lived in a small town in Tennessee. Everyone knew everyone. He lived on the main strip that went through the town. Every one who drove past would honk and wave, at anyone who happened to be out in his yard... It was nice to feel like there were people looking out for you.

Is the 'new driver' the one in red? You took a nice shot of his butt! LOL!

I hope Casey gets to come home soon! I have faith that there is a doctor SOMEWHERE out there who can help her...

Sending love filled hugs and healing thoughts to Casey and you!

    Love Ya,

    Slurkie

  7. Hi Everyone...
I am just back from the hospital.
    (Casey remains incarcerated).

I will be back later, (hav to let these dogs blow off some steam); but just wanted to let you know I am here and that Casey is still there.
    Damn, hey?

    Love to all.

  10. Sweet Thers;
I can't imagine what this does to her.
She asked if it was common practice to put fish hooks in the jello because that's what a little bit of jello felt like.

She had an extremely bad day here.
But when the pain got real bad she wanted to go for a walk.
We walked with her RN (til the RN got called away)...
She came back quick enough when Casey's legs buckled though.
(Guess I hollered "Corey" loud enough then)...
Into a wheelchair and back to bed with her.

  11. Sweet Pamela!
I love that you love my name!

The dog stays away when Sputty is so busy... USUALLY.
But there was just everything getting torn up in the entrance.
    (Sounded like WWIII)...
I grabbed my camera and had to go get a few pictures.
And no, I am not afraid of a little mouse.
Not like my sister is anyway.

I know you are new to my page, so when you get a minute, go ahead and find out what happened to my sister...

"I hate those meeses to pieces!"

Punk isn't lonely. I do tell her that we are going to the hospital to see Casey.
Maybe she 'gets' it, maybe not.
But Punks entire life has been waiting in a parking lot or a ramp for us too.
    So maybe she DOES.

Dirty? Yellow? Brown? (Sounds like my snowbanks in winter)!
    hehehe

Your Grandpa sounds like so many of us here.
The times are few/far between that I can walk outside without having someone beep.
Problem is I don't know what everyone drives either.
Oh well. I always wave anyway!

Yes, Alan has a nice butt.

Maybe tomorrow Casey can go home.
    Hope Hope Hope...

  16. Sweet Pea,
Uncross your toes Pea, the diagnosis is always that stupid Chronic Pancreatitis.
But since this is an older alcoholics disease, (and very very VERY rare in someone so young), they do not know how to treat her.
So they treat her pain... 'Til the next time...

The boys did not tear up my yard. (Not enough mud, even though we have had lots of rain lately).
But you can see where he parked too.
    No big deal that.

  18. Well there has to be a REASON... she can not possibly have the pancreas of an old drunk person....so there must be a reason...

unless she got caught in the flux capacitor too long...

glad your yard was only slightly molested this time...

  23. Evenin Rock,
Im sorry to hear that Casey is still in the hospital.. Are they actually trying to do something for her this time?

Critters???? No telling where they are coming in.. I know when we were replacing the faucets on the bathtub..the hole for the waterline into the house was at least a two inch hole and the water line was about 3/4 of an inch.. now why did it need such a large hole???? you can count on its filled with steelwool now..hehe Its good you have such good mousers ..They will take care of them..hehe

Speaking of heating oil.. we have gas.. and its now empty.. gonna have to get it filled soon. I kept telling JT we had a leak.. he didnt listen because he said he didnt smell it. Guess next time Im gonna have to be more asurtive..hehe

Thats the way it is around here too.. everyone knows everyone but they are very private too.. its very odd. But very endearing as well.

    Mucho Hugs

I sure hope Casey feels better soon and they actually do something to help her as well.

  25. Still not sure what happened outside last night.
A squeal of tires on the pavement...
I left Punk in the house as I went outside.
(Miss Milly was raising billy hell with her adamant barking, her sights set on my 2nd driveway).

Walking down the driveway I heard a noise in the trees, and then see a car at the top of the hill, with its flashers on.
    I waited.
In the distance I heard the siren...
    He stopped behind that car.

I called up the road. Chuck said he had NO idea either.

Perhaps a walk around here, in the daylight will better inform all of us...

    Later though...

    XOXO

  26. Critters and varmints and Beep! (Oh MY)!
You are right. between Mr. Sput and Miss Punk, I really don't worry.
(But I do have to run in the basement every time that cat knocks something over too).

I know that finding the magical entrance is akin to locating that proverbial needle in the haystack...

I received a call from Greg about 2:30.
Casey had gone through the same little episode that she had earlier this year...

    The shortness of breath.
    The crushing chest pain.
    The full body tremors.

Even Greg sounded as though he had been through the wringer. I imagine he had.
The doctor said that he 'found' it to be a link between her dilaudid pump and etc.
Funny, but I cannot find that anywhere on the net...

    Grasping at straws?
    You betcha.

  27. Sweet Bonnie!
This is exactly WHY Sputnik came to live with us.
And I swore I would have no more cats after Amos passed...

    Glad you like the pics!

Like you I hate the snow.
It is pretty enough, but it does a big number on my back when it has to be shoveled.

  28. (Catching up)

I would love to live in a small town where everyone knew my name, wait, I do live in a small town, but since I wasn't born and raised here hardly anyone knows my name or cares to know it. (sigh)

Your Maple tree is gorgeous this year! Our leaves are turning very early this year, they're turning about 2 to 3 weeks early! They're really pretty though, it's going to be a spectacular Fall. I promised to take mom up to Dillsboro (north of Franklin NC) to have lunch at an old Inn and to look around in the antique stores, but mostly to see the beautiful Fall leaves over and back. We aren't going until the 24th because I have to work 6 days next week, so I hope the leaves continue to get prettier and prettier and don't fall too soon.

My Propane will come next week. I'm just finishing up a Graphics job which will pay for it. Don't know how I would've paid for it otherwise.

Is that a little bit of a belly I see on Miss Molly? (Fingers crossed)

    ...and one last thing

Only a Comocazi Mouse would dare enter your house!! I don't have mice, only lizards, which because of the cats - are always dead lizards!

  29. Hey I need to borrow your four legged children. I have a mouse or two and I can't get Charlie to get them. He doesn't care. I love the lovely colors in your yard. And wholey cow you have some major zoom, zoom, zoom on that camera of yours. Thank you for keeping us so informed on Casey's health. She is a special girl. Not that I needed to tell you though. Have a good Columbus day my friend and many prayers are coming your way.

    Lots of love! XOXOXOXO
