[My] Life in Wisconsin

Caseys Party Thoughts

Good Wednesday Morning!

A bit wiped out today- Spent yesterday with a migraine from hell. I had run out of my pills and had a script to pick up at the RX store-
I finally went about 4:30 to get it. I hadn't wanted to go earlier- too bright and my eyes would have liquified in the sunshine.
Not too sure that waiting til dusk was a good idea either because then all the cars have their silly lights on. (Falls under "duh").
At any rate, after a restless night- and one of those pills much earlier this morning, I am alive. (Or at least more alive than I was)... hehehe

We are to be back in the deep freeze for the weekend. But until then have some better temps. Up to about 30 today; which is a huge improvement from last week at this time. I shall try to get outside and chip away at that ice and snow
on the concrete that has been threatening to knock people on their backsides as of late.

Speaking of the weekend...

**CASEY'S BIRTHDAY at THE OLIVE GARDEN!**

She is telling me 11AM so that is when we will be celebrating!

Not too sure how many of you have had/have very ill, or seriously injured, children; but I know that in this past year I have prayed more for her relief than ever before. I know too that there are those of you who have lost your children-

The fear I knew- such an ugly thing that came from way deep within my gut, when faced with the possibility of losing her was more than I could even handle at times.

It seems as though I even prayed for this next birthday for her; almost as if it was a magical thing...

Yet even as I type, that sense of magic is not lost.

I know too that there are more than a few of you that live around Green Bay.

Please come and share this magical birthday with us.
I promise to take my anti~anxiety pills, (though I cannot promise they will work). Grr...

Yes, Casey still has pain-
It is most probably from her healing duodenum. Part of that was removed to be able to remove the pancreatic duct. The lower part that is left must now be subjected to the more vicious tummy juice. This too shall pass.

It is not the pancreatic pain that she has lived through for the past 3 years.

Slowly but surely I am getting my youngest daughter back.
But for the amazing grace of God.

Please come.  Put your party hats on, and let's make it her very best birthday ever!

XOXO
Anne

  1. Wish I could be there for the festivities but that's a bit impossible. But I will try and get a card in the mail. It might arrive late though. Not feeling to well myself this morning. Take care and take lots of pics of the fun and games.

Much love, many hugs and loads of prayers and smiles.

  2. I would love to join in the celebration, but money is standing in the way.

(BTW - I had the weirdest dream yesterday, which is weird in itself because I never sleep for long enough to even have dreams... anyway... you were in it!)

  5. Dear Anne,
Casey emailed me yesterday and I did tell her that I would love to come if I can air in my tire AFTER I get it started. I have not been able to go out in the cold for almost a month so my poor car has not been started for that long........I am hoping that my battery is not frozen. I will let you both know very soon.

  7. If the weather was good and money was not an issue I would be on a bus and on my way. But, unfortunately, I can only do the CYBER-CELEBRATION for now. I am Thankful she is around to celebrate another Birthday. And may she have many, many more!

    PS
If money were not an issue, why wouldn't you fly?

  9. Last time I flew my son was about 14 months old and kept me too occupied to notice how scared I was of flying. We flew from Dallas to Huntsville Alabama. The first plane was a huge sucker! You could look down the aisles and seem to never see the front or back of the plane. And it flew like it was on roller skates. Smooth! Then we change planes for a connection in Nashville. It was a DC10. Our seat was right behind the cockpit and I could easily see the rear of the plane in the corner of my eye without even turning my head. It was noisy and every air pocket was clearly felt. I have been on roller coaster rides that were smoother! I have said many times, If I had flown in that small plane from Dallas to Nashville I would have walked the rest of the way to Huntsville! It was an experience I don't care to repeat. So...I snag a Greyhound and ride their backs all the way. A little slower for sure, but if we crash...we are already on the ground.

  16. How wonderful it would be to celebrate this great occasion...Casey's birthday and her new lease on
life!! How great and wonderful God is!! If one of you can sort of pass by Nova Scotia and pick me
up, then I could party with you!! LOL

My doctor didn't have very good things to say today, so I'll just lift them up to the Lord and remind her of what she said when I celebrate my 100th birthday...haha

Have a great night and no more migraines!! My daughter has them terribly! Awful things....

  17. Hi Mommy!

Thank you for talking with me so early in the morning. I know that you are sometimes up and I'm glad that I can chat with you when I'm having troubles sleeping...

So sorry about your migraine. I feel horrible that they called just after I left because I could've gotten it for you earlier. Your metaphor about the sunlight vs. your eyes did creep me out a little bit... Could be the fact that I've been watching a suspenseful TV series on the paranormal...

I know what you mean about the catch 22 regarding driving with a migraine. You can either brave the sunlight which makes the eyes feel horrible, or you can drive at night when every single car looks like it has its brights on... Both are pretty harsh on a migraine... I am glad to hear that the pills worked though, if only for a little while, to give you some relief...

Frozen Tundra or not, I don't like it! This deep freeze makes me think that this “Global Warming” thing is just another lead-in to an ice age... Boy it gets nasty out there... Even though I hate winter, I couldn't move away. My love and need for my friends and family is much stronger than my distaste for winter...

Don't do too much chipping at the ice. I know it is a hazard, but I don't want you hurting your back anymore. I'd do it for you, but I've got the restrictions of a 2 year old child and wouldn't be much help unless I sat on it for a long time and waited for it all to melt! :D I might just freeze my butt off doing so... Literally! :D hee hee hee...

Now you have me in tears. I knew that this illness was just as stressful on you as it was on me, but I had no idea how much fear you had. If it's any consolation, I,too, was scared of what was happening to me and the uncertainty of it all. Wondering what next organ would be hurt due to the malfunctioning pancreas; wondering how long it would be until all the “We don't know what's going on” and “There isn't anything wrong” would change into “We have solved it.” My hope for that last quote had disappeared quite fast in October when I experienced the major toll that the illness could dish out. My legs no longer working, losing weight by the pounds every week, and not being able function like a normal human being. But I can't even imagine to know what it was like for you as you, too, were faced with these facts. Being a mother who could do nothing to help her child, feeling so helpless and afraid. I just can't imagine.

Then you found Dr. Sutherland. Even though this surgery was a major one and we all worried, you still took the brunt of that worry. He has now saved my life, our lives, and we have hope that I will fully recover and be done with all of this. Like you, I am strong and am a fighter, and we've now moved closer to that finish line where a clean bill of health awaits!

Like I have been saying, the greatest part of all of this is that I'm getting my life back. The greatest thing isn't that I can get back on track, but my gift to you, and everyone else who has been with me through this, is that you can see me thrive instead of trying to survive every day. What a Merry Christmas that must be for you and everyone else. I will be looking forward to the expressions of emotions everyone will have as I get better and better. THAT, to me, is the best feeling in the world!

I will enjoy this magical, miraculous birthday. Unlike the last two birthdays, I won't have to worry about what to eat and what might happen after I eat! I'm excited and can't wait to get better!!!

I love you, Mom, MUCH MUCH!
    ~Casey

  18. Would that be called a "Cybration" or a "Cellyber" or "Celecyber"???

I like Cybration the best!! :D

  19. Years back, Casey and I wound up on a Greyhound back from Alabama- We had brought/driven almost a brand new car down there for Roberta.
The lady across the aisle had fleas or some such bugs-
And the driver kept nodding as if he was falling asleep.
I swore we would die- and if by some chance we did not, that I would never ever take a bus again.
At least air pockets keep everyone awake...

    XOXO

  20. Dearest Stangerdaze, DeeAnne, Ohio, & Coolgromma,

I would definitely pick you all up, but I'm restricted to not lift/push/pull anything over 10 pounds so unless you all are newborn infants, I can't help you... So sorry!!! :D hee hee hee

If I win the lottery I'll fly all of you in for my celebration... In the meantime join in on the CYBRATION happening here!!! :D

    Love to you!
    ~Casey
