[My] Life in Wisconsin

Is it Spring Yet?

  magnify
hehehe
YOU figure it out.
.
.
Good Evening!
Anyone still up?
I have been lax in writing, and even in responding. My apologies once more.

That snowstorm that we didn't know what we would get?
Suffice to say that Canada found me once more.

Wouldn't you just know that Suamico got top billing on total snowfall.
.
.
Cnv0059
That's Suamico with the 8.3 inches.
I live under the "point".

.
.
My own proven scientific programs and methods measured a bit more.
.
.

.
Cnv0126
Flintville Trumps Suamico!
(That's a 15" rule by the way).
I should have brought a tape measure out for the drifts!
.
.
.
It began almost insidiously-
Even though we all knew it was coming.

Punk watched out the window.
.
.
Cnv0067

...almost mesmerized by her own reflection.

.

.
Cnv0063

But maybe she was watching these little snow angels

(Built by Mother nature and a few great reflections).
.

.
Morning comes, bringing sunshine...
.
.
.
Cnv0135

...and decorated windows all around!

.
.
.
.
Cnv0107

And a drifted and decorated backyard also!

.
.
.
.
.Know I have seen many things, from many snowstorms...

.
Cnv0076

But never have I seen drifts
on my roof !?!
.
.
.
.
Cnv0106

The south side of the garage sporting a drift also.

(Methinks my birdies are dirty)!
hehehe
Anyone singing "Tennessee Bird Walk"?
.
.

.
Cnv0081

My rounded and drifted driveway,
past a strategically parked Buick Roadmaster.

.
.
.
I call it "a single girls easy snow removal"... hehehe
I got tired of trying to keep all the snow and ice from where Casey walks in the house, so I parked the Roadmaster over the sidewalk, & in front of the door.
(Good thing I have more doors)! hehehe
Then when the snowplow comes, I just drive the car away, jumping the drift left by the plow in front of the car...(And admittedly a bit blindly), onto the driveway and push the snow off with a broom!
SO simple!
...And yes, I got plowed out about 5:30 tonight.
And yes, I got plowed out about 6 tonight.
.
.
.
Punk thought Mother Nature was playing hide and seek with her pull toy.
.

.She also believes each snowfall brings her own little world of fun.
This because she has no opposable thumbs,
...and thus cannot operate a shovel

.
Cnv0092

But a good nose can find just about anything.
She dug furiously for about 30 seconds.

.
.
.
.
Cnv0088

And brings it to me...

.
.
.
.
She gave me a choice-  "ARF!" she said.

"Shovel the snow or throw the toy"

(Talk about a "no brainer").
hehehe

.
.
.
.
Cnv0083

We put a few miles on the dog-
(and on the toy too).
.

Most times she had to dig for it all over again.
.
.
.
Cnv0094

But always she found it!
Normally that pull toy bends.
Just not when it is frozen solid.
.

.
.
.
.
Cnv0090

Sometimes, she just looks so much like her Mama that it shocks me.

.
.
.
.
.
Cnv0114

Mostly, I believe she has the cleanest face in all of Flintville!
.

.
Snows can be pretty sometimes...
.
Cnv0077

even for weeds and wiegelia
.

.

.
Cnv0129

Sometimes it can be downright "cornfoosing"
What the heck IS that anyway???
.
.
.

.
Cnv0080

Sometimes serene, dangerous, and pretty-
& even all at once!
.

.
.
Sometimes a bit back breaking...
(even before you lift a shovel)-

.
Cnv0072

Sometimes brutally honest...
Knowing we won't be getting back to those woods anytime soon
.
.

.
Cnv0146

Sometimes distance is dist0rted
and even 150 yards seems SO far away.
.
.
(I still have to dig out that mailbox of mine.
The mailman leaves me nasty notes if I don't).
.

.
But I believe I shall just wait 'til my boots dry out...
.
.
.
Cnv0116

.

.

Love to all.

XOXO
Anne

(I am still challenged by that mailman of mine...
If he can get close enough to leave those notes, wouldn't you think he could also put my mail IN the box)?!?
Hmmm...

  2. Good evening to you and I want you to know that I don't have a bit of snow anywhere!!! YAY!!! So,
it wasn't me that sent it this time, it must have come from the Ontario region. haha It is so great to
see the sun AND no snow. I better stop bragging or I might get up tomorrow to a foot of it. LOL I
can't wait to get warm weather and be able to get my scooter out without freezing on it. I think you
should give that mailman a note right back and tell him exactly what you told us. What an idiot!!! If
he can gets notes in that box, he can also get mail...does he think you can't figure that one out or
maybe HE hasn't figured it out yet!! :) Have a good night and happy dreams. Give Punk a big hug
and tell him I think he is sooooo handsome. What a beautiful dog he is.
    Hugs & blessings to ya....xoxo

  3. Sweet OKA;
That is the great thing about March snowstorms. You KNOW the snow won't be here for long.
    Hugs right backatcha!

  4. Sweet Bev;
That is NOT true! You did send it to me and I am holding you responsible. hehehe
You see, Canada should always have more snow than little old Flintville.

    Sweet dreams to you too!

    Yes Punk is a darling.
But I won't pass your kind words on. I hate a dog with a big head.
    hehehe

  5. I tried that.
But once they put the note in, they don't have to stop even if the flag is up.

  6. Mean, mean mailman...I think you should kick him or hit him with your shovel!!! :) No that would be
bad and you are not a meanie like he is. :)
Now you are just afraid that Punk might pack up and come to NS if you give him messages from me!
He might just like getting email, since the other guy is so mean....
Maybe we are staying up too late. I promised my husband I would go to bed earlier during Lent, so
I went from 2:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. and he thinks that is not good enough!! MEN!
    Goodnight, girlfriend...have a good one.

  7. How ingenious of you to park the car over that part of the walkway. There's more than one way to shovel a walkway, huh!

The snow is beautiful as always. And Punk looked as if she was waiting in anticipation to get at it for play time. She truly is a dog of the North! Doesn't seem to bother her at all.

    ReplyDelete

  8. Punk has too much to pack. That, and no sled.
Maybe I should wax up the old toboggan?
    hehehe

    Now get to bed!

  9. Sweet PeachieBaby!
If this was regular postal mail, our letters would have crossed! hehehe I was just at your site!

The car thing doesn't always work- But even when the winds kick up there is still 4 bare spots- under the wheels, but still bare!
Happy it worked this time though! Talk about a windbreak!

I think Punks paws got a bit nippy this morning, but not caked with ice either. The same can't be said for her whiskers. Sorry I didn't get a few shots of that)!
My feet were a little chilly- But I took my showetr after I shoveled so the warm water took care of those toes in no time!

    Come shovel!

    XOXO

  10. We've had a wee bit o'snow today, nothing measurable and NOTHING like what you have...

Punkie looks like she has SO much freakin' fun playing in the snow... Wish I could have been there to play too.. REALLY wish Kaylee could have played in it too. She's never seen snow that deep before...

Sorry your mailman is a jerk... Maybe one day he will learn to show a lil kindness...

    Love Ya!

    Slurkie :-)

    ReplyDelete
  11. Wow... that is pretty.

    and pretty depressing.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Sweet SlurkieBaby!...
Oh no! You do not want Kaylee here without an antennae with a colored ball on it!
    hehehe
I don't mind being in the snow either... Until I get cold that is.

Mailman cannot help himself. Those the rules.

  13. Sweet Pea;
It sure seems like we got enough "Winter" for one year.
(And if we don't, you will have to suffer a few more pictures).
    Bear with me.

    Sweet Jenny Mella!
    Bet you're NOT awake now?
I had to go nightie night before you. Had gotten three hours of sleep the night before, even with a nap yesterday was plenty tired last night.

    Me

    PS
It is now raining. Rain = Mud -Come anytime! hehehe

  15. No snow here Thank God!!! Matter of fact it's a wonderful 60 degrees here right now but that's going to change to more seasonal temps tomorrow. But I think I handle 40 degrees. I've had about all I can stand of winter. After that ice storm, well, I've had enough.

    ReplyDelete

  16. Sweet Pam,

Always remember that in the great scheme of things, Snow Trumps Ice anyday.
(Not that my back would agree)...

60 is but a dream yet for us. Soon.
But I hope it gets a chance to melt normally before that happens or we will all have an awful mess.

    XOXO
    Me

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well, I sure would have much rather had the snow instead of the four inches of ice, a week without power and two and a half weeks without a phone. Not to mention all the stuff in the frig and freezers I had to pitch.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Our snow is pretty much gone but a few days ago it looked like where you are. Goes to prove there is hope. Trouble is now we have that weird spring combo that comes at this time of year, a little snow (usually melts right away) a lot of rain,a little sun (gone in five), lots of grey and the ups and downs with the temps. Ah well, might as well live with it; can't change it. Hey I really do like the way you presented your post with the pics. I really enjoyed that. That dog of yours is just so beautiful. I'll bet you get tons of enjoyment with him/her(?). hugs, Lil

    ReplyDelete
  19. Your pictures are just beautiful, again I gotta say it Punk cracks me up!

    ReplyDelete
  20. lol great pix. We had a similar storm....but we've learned that whenever Kevin Mannix or one of the other local weathermen say 2-4 inches it actually means BLIZZARD. We had a rainstorm, five inches, another rainstorm, then a mix, then another two or three inches and drifts.........sigh......I love winter. Really. Always have. But this year.....pfffffffffffffffffftttttttttttt.

    ReplyDelete
  21. That's why I said that.
There is no way I could do what you and Cee were forced to do-
Not without major anxiety settling in and staying.
    You are SO strong!
    I will "take" the snow.

    XOXO
    me

    ReplyDelete
  22. Sweetie,
I shall "knock on wood" for you! hehehe
Lots of our snow is gone- Either plowed out of the way, or knocked down with this drizzle we've been having.
Sure looks "dirty" out there already.

Punk is a spayed "she". And yes, she is such a great part of me.

    XOXO

  24. You are laughing at my funny pics too?
Just be glad 'I' wasn't in any of them or you would be rolling!!!

I am giggling at your weatherman. They are usually wrong around here too, and nobody knew who would get what either. (Well beside the obvious answer of "snow" coming).

We are to get some godawful weather today.
    I do not like godawful.
    Not at all.
    "pffffftttt" is right!

  25. I am so glad that you friends like my pictures- You make me happy when you say so too!
I had an awful time deciding which ones to post-
Will have to post a few more later. For now I must find my house-
I think it is under the clutter somewhere.

    have a good one!

  27. Don't forget, you can always post them in your Multiply Photos area. Use the ones you want for the blog and post all the rest in an album and no it doesn't cost. And you can make the access just as lominted as you can make any blog.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Wow, I just cant get over all the snow you get!
I love the angel photo, mysterious and beautiful all the same.
Punk is such a great sport in the snow...and she has a great nose!
Sorry to see you will be getting winds too, we are forecast thundershowers and high winds tonight.

Brace yourself....and stay in Kansas- ahem, I mean Flintville :)

  29. I agree with visionsofsun. I never realized how much snow you guys get up there till I met you. It is so pretty to look at but you can keep it up there with you or kick it back up to Canada. I can guess which you will choose. haha Punkie looked like she had lots of fun in the snow. We already have mosquitoes out here. That is not a good sign. I do like your idea about the strategically placed car. I am not sure I would have thought of that. You are so smart.

How is that head of yours? I hope it is better. Dalton wants to say hi to you Grandma Anne. jjjjfjslljiiisdjhfhhgjaaajdjhjhdujjgjgjhdkslsldieioioghghnghgj fgja aj a a a jdjjfjfjdfjdfj. Ok. I have confiscated my keyboard back. haha. I hope all is well with you and Casey. Lots of love to you! XOXOXOXO

  30. I don't know whether that's supposed to be scary, Anne... but I'm always in awe to see pictures of snow! LOL!

You'll have to excuse this person who has never seen snow... heehee! But then again, I don't think I could stand the cold...

    Hugs!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I can deal with the pictures of the snow.... it is pretty if I dont have to feel the cold.

    ReplyDelete
  32. AH yes... Still friggen winter here.... Even though it is so sickening to see, you take some VERY beautiful pictures!!! I love them all!!! I think my two favorites would have to be Punkie looking out the window (she is just so CUTE!!) and the one of the snow angel created by mother nature and some reflections!! Such a wonderful capture...

They are all very gorgeous, and I think you'd make quite the large amount of money as a photographer!!!

Very good thinking, by the way, parking the roadmaster on the sidewalk and in front of the door... The boat of a car that it is should keep a large section of ground decent for you and I!

I'd say March came in like a lion, so hopefully we'll be done with this winter crap soon enough!

Well, I must blog about our "oh so eventful" day today...

    I love you Much Much!

  34. You did an AWESOME job on this blog!!!!!! I moved here from Buffalo so I have definitely had snow like that so I feel your pain......

We get a lot of snow here but none like we had in Buffalo....But we do get more ice storms here...Like that one that crippled us in December.....

Right now we have gale force winds but at least I don't have to shovel them....LOL

Well, 4:15 seems to roll around earlier every morning so it's off to bed for me....
