[My] Life in Wisconsin

Ten Thought Tuesday...

magnify
I wish it to be warm enough that I actually want an ice cream cone.
.
.
Happy Tuesday!

The above thought accounts for thought #1. hehehe

2.
I am going through withdrawal from NOT being able to upload my pictures. (I wonder if there would be a 12~Step Program for that)?

3.
This morning I fought with an almost brand new candle to make it work.
Why do candles not work after you burn them for a few hours?
Try to relight them and they burn for a few minutes and choke themselves out?

4.
Punk is still pooped from being outside nearly all day yesterday. She is dreaming on the floor closeby; her legs twitching and her nose going 100mph. There is also much REM going on.

5.
I need more of that same REM.

6.
The weather still sucks. It promises to be suckier this weekend.

7.
I am SO done driving in crappy weather.
But either Canada (or Mother Nature) doesn't agree with me.
When we get to Minneapolis there will be snow/flurries etc on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday next week.
(The bunny is gonna freeze to death)!

8.
By Robert Frost: (So what if the content is posted a day early)?!?
"The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April Day
When the sun is out and the wind is still,
You're one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
A cloud comes over the sunlit arch,
A wind comes off the frozen peak,
And you're two months back in the middle of March."
-From Two Tramps in Mud Time (1936)

9.
I am much like that lady in the email that sets out to do one thing, accomplishes little, and never does do what she originally set out to do. Wish I had that email somewhere to share too. Sorry. (It must be in my junk room).
I truly have been working on trying to get my junk room clean. I carried some things to the kitchen, some to the living room, some got filed (really), some went out to the little dumpster. And some had to be brought out for the sale I will be opening up again.
To do this I had to get the attached garage a bit cleared. As an end to the means there, I had to bring some things out to the old shed.

Therefore I have found that if I close three doors I am quite happy, (and more than a bit smug).

AAADD
KNOW THE SYMPTOMS.

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder.
Somehow I feel better, even though I have it!!

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -
Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table,
put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back
on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think,
since I'm going to be near the mailbox
when I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table,
and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
so I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of soda I'd been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks,
but first I need to push the soda aside
so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The soda is getting warm,
and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the soda,
a vase of flowers on the counter
catches my eye - they need water.

I put the soda on the counter and
discover my reading glasses that
I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk,
but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter,
fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we watch TV,
I'll be looking for the remote,
but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,
so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers,
but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table,
get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to
remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:
the car isn't washed
the bills aren't paid
there is a warm can of soda sitting on the counter
the flowers don't have enough water ,
there is still only 1 check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day,
and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem,
and I'll try to get some help for it,
but first I'll check my e-mail....

Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!

10.
Since it's the end of March I should comment on The Lion and the Lamb
(Never mind, I already did that in #'s 1, 6, 7, and 8).

10.
Stuck now... hehehe

10.
   LAST, BUT NOT LEAST
Casey was out yesterday, and was doing pretty good! (I do love her good days). She made us fish for lunch, and baked potatoes too. Very yummy!

I'd better close-

Hope all is well with everyone and that you (and your computer) are both ready for tomorrows potential 'worm'.

  • It is called "conficker"
  • Odd that if you rearrange the letters, you get "efin crock"...

I find that hysterical...

Love to all.

XOXO
Me

PS
Now, can anyone rearrange "Don't eat any nuts" for me?

  2. 1. I have ice cream in da freezer... Want some??
    2. When will your puter be fixed?
    3. I hate that about candles... I always try to 'pour' the melted wax away from the wick when that happens...
    4. Chasing a squirrel?
    5. Why haven't you been resting??
    6. Sorry for the sucky weather :(
    7. Well, remember that Canada hates you and will find you wherever you go... LOL
    8. Summer can't get here quick enough for me!
    9. I shall come help you clean... I'll be there as soon as I find my walking shoes LOL...
    10. Love that Casey is slowly feeling better... Hopefully after this next surgery, she will be able to recover 100%!

    ARRRGH! I'm no good at rearranging words LOL... But it will bug me til I can come up with something LOL

  3. 1. It could be -10º and I'd still want ice cream.
    2. (I wanna see pictures of Punk & Henrietta.)
    3. I'm more of an incense person myself. (No, not incensed - incense.)
    4. Doc almost got a squirrel yesterday. He almost had it at the top of the little ridge behind the house and then he realized it was straight downhill from there. He left skid marks in the mud and practically needed a bath before I'd let him back inside. I suppose the squirrel felt triumphant.
    5. I dream of the day when I can get more than 3 hours of sleep at a stretch.
    6. It's starting to feel like spring here, so it shouldn't be long before spring comes to Flintville.
    7. Sorry the weather is going to be so crappy for your trip to Minneapolis, maybe the forecast will change for the better between now and then. As for the bunny, he has a fur coat, so I doubt he'll care if it's cold.
    8. The title "From Two Tramps in Mud Time" sounds like Doc and me at walk time, we walked in the rain today. Which is worse - taking a dog for a 30 minute walk in the ran, or listening to the dog whine because he needs to get out to get some exercise?
    9. I've been trying to get my garage cleaned out for........ now I'm depressed!
    10. Yum, fish and baked potatoes. I've had a thing for red bliss potatoes lately, mashed with the skins on, with a little ranch dressing mixed in.

    "Conficker" is making us all nervous. I have anti-virus software but did it do it's job? I guess I'll know soon enough.

  8. I wanna Tuesday with ten thoughts.

    ReplyDelete
  9. 1- No thank you... But I do have a craving for a Hot Fudge Sundae...

    2- Not sure. I have it bogged down with a bazillion pictures... But have tons of memory left. Greg is getting to it as time permits.

    3- I did that, walked away, and two minutes later the darn thing snuffed itself out. So then I cleared all the excess away.

    4- She didn't look beweildered enough hehehe

    5- Too much to do always. And if there wasn't enough to do, then there is my brain... I think the switch is broke.

    6- Apology accepted

    7- Talk about paranoia. But you are right!

    8- I just want warmth- 65 is great Sunshine and a little breeze.

    9- Did you find them yet??? Door is open.

    10- Recovery from this will be about 2 years.
    We will be in Minnesota a while just to get her skinny arse out of the hospital.
    After this though she will be 200%

    XOXO

    That is why I do not go to baby showers.

  11. 1- Did you know that more ice cream is actually served in restaurants on cold days? Weird that.

    .
    2- Be patient. They are in my camera.
    Henrietta sends her love to Doc.

    3- Oh not to worry, I burn incense in the basement- Too strong for one room but it takes the edge off the litter box down there, if ya know what I mean. Then when the fan on the furnace turns on the whole house smells like patchoulli, or opium, or cinnamon.

    4- OMG You made me giggle at this!!!

    5- Me too.
    And I don't even work overnight like you do. (I don't know how you do that all the time).

    6- Please send it quicker. I am tired of wearing warm jammies. (Cuz then I want to stay in them all day long)!

    7- Come on over. You can do the driving, AND you can nap too. The car now knows the way.

    8- Worse is always listening to the baby cry... hehehe

    9- Sorry.

    10- It was very good. I don't like breaded fish- Battered is OK, but this was naked fish and it had garlic and butter... Mmmm Casey ever poured the leftover garlic butter on her taters.

    XOXO

    I've got lots of anti crap on my computers, so I try not to worry overmuch. If anything gets through Greg will find it fast enough...

  12. I had first of all needed adobe 9 for state taxes, and it still wouldn't "go" so I called The Greg Man to come take a look~see.
    He took the whole computer!!!

    But it is way overloaded by my pictures. I resize them and empty out the originals, but they are all still in there (1000's and 1000's 1000's of them strong)!
    I told Casey to tell him to dump the originals since he's the only one that can find them anyway...

    I had some awful REM before I woke up. A nightmare about a jumping pink tarantula too. (He jumped on my back)...
    Thanks for reminding me

    It is easy to be awake now...

  15. 1. Ice Cream Weather... Or Lack Thereof...

    I must be weird then... Wait, we all knew that part... However, I did have that craving the other day for ice cream! I had some, even though it was freezing out... I just ate it inside and waited to warm up before venturing outside!

  16. 2. Photo~Blues... An Addiction to Image Mixer

    So sorry that you are experiencing this... The good news is that hopefully when you get your computer back it will run MUCH faster... Since he did an entire makeover on it, instead of just a few changes, it will be like starting over with a brand new computer!

    I just can't believe how long it took for the files to copy over! Apparently it was still copying over when Greg got up this morning! When he got home from work, though, it was done... He was then able to completely wipe the hard drive out and reinstall the better operating system...

    Advantages:
    It is much smaller → Takes up less space → You can store more data
    None of the useless 20 or so programs that constantly run in the background → The PC then can concentrate better on the programs that you do run → Increase the speed of the PC
    No useless programs running constantly → Not trying to pull information on/to those 20 or so programs → Less % use of the CPU (Central Processing Unit) [basically less multi-tasking] → Quicker thinking
    PC got a “bath” with the electronic duster stuff → Less dust to cover the working parts → Less over~heating → Fan gets a break → Runs quicker because it's not spending energy on the fan
    PC also got a complete physical and all worm infestations were caught and eliminated

  17. 3. Choking Candle...

    WOW! I've never had an issue with that! Although I mostly light candles when I get them. It is bad luck to have unlit candles in the home so most of the time I light them as I get them. However, I don't really use candles all that much so maybe I've just never had this issue because I don't light it that second time!

    I honestly can't think of why it would do that... I wonder if the manufacturers put something on the wick so that it'll burn great for a while, then stop working which makes the consumers buy more... It's the Choking Candle Conspiracy! :D

  18. 4. Pooped Punkie Puppy...

    Aww... Dogs are so cute when they dream! Don't get me wrong, they are cute when they are awake too, it's just that when they dream it is almost as if you can tell what they're dreaming about! As I recall, she also used to make sucking sounds in her sleep like she did when she was nursing... That was always so cute!

    Wouldn't it be SO COOL to find out what they dream about? Or even to find out how far back they can remember... Maybe their first four weeks? Their birth? What if they can also think back to prior lives without hesitation? That would be so cool to find out!

    Like you always said to our dogs on that topic, “Do you think words or do you think 'Arf! Arf! Arf!'?” That is a very good answer and one that I will make sure to ask when I meet the Man upstairs! God must get so many questions about these things all the time!!

  19. 5. Sleep Deprived...

    I do know how you feel, but I shouldn't complain. Even with how much I wake up at night, I don't miss nearly as much sleep as you... I wish there was something I could do to help! Of course, having nasty dreams about tarantulas don't really give you relaxing thoughts...

    Maybe you'll sleep better when this medical stuff is all over... You won't have to be driving all over the place and have to sleep in hotels for extended periods of time... I know this illness is just as stressful and painful for you as it is for myself. Probably even more so because you are my mother and feel helpless that you can't help me out... But you DO help me out, so much...

    Just because you can't take away the pain, doesn't mean you haven't helped. You have been there, by my side, through everything and that is what got me through the hardest times... I don't know what I would do without you... I also don't know how to pay you back for all you've done! I am permanently indebted to you!

  23. 9. C.I.A.D.D.

    Cleaning-Induced Attention Deficit Disorder happens to everyone. You may feel alone with this condition but in fact, over 1/3 of the U.S. population is affected.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Symptoms of CIADD Include:
    -Distraction/Confusion
    -A habit of saying, “Why did I go in this room?” or “What was I just doing?”
    -Not being able to stay cleaning in one room for more than 10 minutes and then head to a
    different room
    In Rare Cases:
    -Because of the distraction and the running from room to room, these people can clean all
    day but when they are done, see no improvement from before they cleaned
    -Some people suffering from this even get so frustrated that they decide to throw everything
    away in an effort to find the floor/counter/table~tops
    -A small group of CIADD patients reported that the distraction level was so high, that they
    ended up not even cleaning! Instead, they find something interesting and look it up
    online getting pulled to their computer for hours, or just happen to glance at the TV just
    once and get hooked on a show
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    There is hope! Studies have show that Todolisticol (pronouced: too-DOO-list-ik-ALL) and Concentrateagain (pronounced: KON-suhn-treyt-uh-GEYN) aid in managing most, if not all, of the symptoms of CIADD. Todolisticol improves the person's ability to remember all the tasks at hand; compelling them to write them down to reduce the chances of not getting things done. Concentrateagain works to eliminate distraction. It helps the person to focus on one thing at a time, do it well, and then they move on to the next step. This enables the person to stick with one job until it is done well. When both medications are taken together, they are highly effective at easing the frustrations of the CIADD patient. By lowering the chances that they'll get angry, the chance of them discarding important belongings hastily goes down exponentially.

    I, too, was affected by CIADD. I felt there was no hope at all anymore. I decided to try and come to terms with the fact that I may never be able to clean anything again. It got so bad that I'd be in the middle of doing dishes and forget what I was doing even though my hands were still in the water. Then I talked to my doctor about my symptoms. He told me about the condition and that I wasn't alone. He prescribed Todolisticol and Concentrateagain. Within 24 hours I noticed a difference and I was able to clean the entire house in less than 2 hours! It was such a relief for me that I feel it is my duty to pass along this information to others who might be silently suffering.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Side Effects:
    -Nausea
    -Aches and Pains
    -Intense Levels of Concentration
    -Headache
    -Decreased Sex Drive
    -Cramping of the Pinky Finger
    Some Rare but Serious Side Effects:
    ******************Contact your doctor IMMEDIATELY if you notice you or someone*******************
    ************************you know experiencing these side effects while on these***********************
    *************************************************medications*************************************************
    -A few of the patients on these medications have gone into extreme states of concentration
    that can last for up to 24 hours. During this time, they are unresponsive to others, act
    as if they are robots or zombies, and clean so much that they've scrubbed floor tiles off
    -Some other patients had to be admitted into a 12-step program due to an unhealthy
    obsession with cleaning. These patients are unable to stop
  24. 10. My Good Days...
    I love my good days, too... I don't feel as completely wiped out on those days and I am able to come over and visit with you and play with Punkie! I do hope that this surgery will be the final surgery, and I can get back to trying to have more good days than bad days!
    Oh! That fish was SO good!!! The potatoes were also very good especially with that garlic butter on top!! MMMMMMMM!!!!! I need to savor the food I eat from now up until Saturday... I can't eat anything at all on Sunday, but at least I can have clear liquids... Then, surgery time...
    I'm so incredibly nervous. Every time I think about it my anxiety goes through the roof. Same thing with the pancreas surgery. I was so nervous that I thought for a while that I wasn't going to relax at all, but everything went well. I don't mind being nervous, as long as it doesn't induce a panic attack. Those are awful, and you know that first-hand...
    Well, this is now 5 pages worth of stuff for the comment box... Do you think that's enough??? :D
    I just get so compelled to answer/respond to all of your ten thoughts... That's why these ones get so lengthy! Of course my fake medication info took quite the amount of page space! Took a while to come up with it, too!!!
