[My] Life in Wisconsin

Casey, Morning 'Til Night, megacolon pic

Morning 'Til Night.

windchill

You asked about the weather?
Suffice to say Minneapolis still needs this dang chart.

Hello Old Man Winter?

"JUST LET IT GO ALREADY!"
.
.
.

And what a long day-
I left Casey at the hospital where she says she is in the worst pain of her life. (These statements inbetween dozing and waking to pain in her front and more pain in her back).
They have upped her dilauded drip- But then it knocks her out and it is worse then when she wakens, or even tries to adjust herself or move.

Tonight will be tough on her- Tomorrow will be worse.
But by Wednesday we will see more and more spunk~n~sass coming back.

For now I must find some sleep. (It's here somewhere)...

And yet I am so afraid of falling asleep and not hearing the phones.

My head is back- almost full force, but no barfing anyway.
I won't take anything because then for sure i won't hear the effing phone.

Wanted to share a few pics before I lie down.

Know that the two photos at the bottom (under my XO's) are from her surgery.

You have been warned.

A bit of a break while she was in surgery-
I came back here and and found Punk loving her little Henrietta
.

Punk Loves Henrietta!

She has taken to crying as the little chicken makes its own noise...
(Mama Milly used to do that with her own toys).

.
.
And back up to the hospital.
I waited in the waiting room after talking to one of her nurses.
That wait got longer and longer- And finally I went back up to the front.
No one there!
So I found a computer that had some info on it about the patients- It told me that Casey was up in a room already!
Yikes!
So I hightailed it straight up there.

She was resting; just not comfortably... .

Casey sleeping in pain after surgery

This is how I left her...
In and out of sleep.
Probably more drug induced than comforting.
But she was still, quieted, anyway.
.
.

I will call up there before I rest, just to make sure all is well enough.

Love to all, and for all of your kind words and prayers and reassurances too.
This is plain old tough, and you have helped by being there for us.

XOXO
Anne

  3. OH MY!!!!!!! That definitely sheds a new light on things. I was expecting big but that has blown me away. I only hope this will be it for her and she can soon follow her heart to bigger and better things.
I am sorry to hear about your head. I don't blame you for not taking medicine. I do hope you will be able to kick it soon.
I will continue to pray for you guys. I am so proud to see such love between a mother and daughter and Casey and Greg as well. The world needs more of this. You guys are so great.

    Lots of love to you!

  4. Sweet Thers,
Keep in mind that this itty bitty child wears a size three (or a one or a 5 depending),
I just can't believe it either.

I hope your day is much better tomorrow.

    Love always

    XOXO

  5. Sweet Maudie!
Thank you for those prayers too!
Caseys problems all began when she developed her (soon diagnosed as) Chronic Pancreatitis,
It's been over 3 years of doctoring etc, and this is hopefully the final surgery of way too many to count. I lost track at about 13 I think. Or so...
She is only 22. Smart as a whip, and will only need all of our love to get her through this one too!

    XOXO

  6. Sweet Darla!
We have NO idea how it fit in her little body!
Like yourself I expected something big. But not like this.
Guess that is why they call it MEGAcolon.
Even the pics she had on her blog weren't even close to what she had in her.

    You are so kind!

    XOXO

  9. OM~FLIPPIN'~G!!!

I can not believe that big thing was inside tiny lil Casey!!

May this truly be the beginning of Casey being able to heal and get on with her life!

  10. My goodness Annie...I couldn't believe my eyes!!! That is enormous....I don't understand why her
belly wasn't protruding out as if she was pregnant. How did it all fit in there??? I'm sorry, I guess
I was just shocked that something that big was in that little girl. Praise God that it is OUT and now
the healing process can begin. She has had so much surgery and so much pain that it will take her
a bit longer and maybe hurt more than a normal healthy person, who hasn't had all that "stuff". :)
With all our prayers, she should be doing well soon. Now I'll add your poor head in my prayers!!
My daughter has terrible migrains, so I know what you are going through. God bless you both and
I hope you will be pleased with the way you find her tomorrow. Hugs & blessings.....Bev xoxo

  11. Wow so many surgery's for such a young person. But i think God knows this will make her stronger and i think lead her on a path walking with Strange things happen for strange reasons.I will keep praying for totally healing everyday.I will be here if she needs anyone to.Even though i don't know either one of you very well .I kinda know what your going thought as a mother.I watched my mom and dad with my baby brother being sick since the day he was born and i watched him pass at the age of 5 and i was 10 and i watched all of our lives change to something i never thought it would.I knew the heart break of a mother and there child being sick and i know the heart break of a child being sick.I raised 4 grand children that lost there most to a car accident. So i know how the heart hurts and feel. You are a great mother and a very strong lady.I only hope the best for you both. When you get a chance please read my blog about a baby named Callie.I don't know her either but i have follower her for almost 4 years now in life and death sitations.I have prayed and prayed for her.You have to read the one about Christmas of 2007 if you can.You are suppose to be sleeping lol.Good night God bless .Hugs maudie

  14. No wonder she was in so much pain. That's incredible! Let's just hope this is the last surgery for her and that she is now on the road to living a pain free life. Hope she has a more restful day today and hope that you will take some time for yourself to get some rest. If you're afraid of missing your phone, maybe you can leave word with the hospital to have the front desk ring your room in case you don't hear your own phone. Please get some rest. You really need it.

More prayers going up for all today and always.

  16. Looking back at this photo (the one showing scar), it's as if you can actually see that colon under there.

  17. What a girl our Casey is! I couldn't believe the size of her colon, or at least the portion Dr S took out, no wonder she was in such pain. I'm so glad she's finally gotten this surgery behind her. I know it's going to hurt like he!! for a while but once she heals she's going to feel better than ever.

Thanks for posting the pic of Punk playing with Henrietta. I wanted Doc to like it, because I liked it (dumb reason I know) anyways, it did my heart good to see Punk having fun with it. At least somebody likes it! (Cluck cluck!)

  18. Poor baby girl....seeing the colon, no big deal.....seeing her beautiful little face laying in that bed trying to rest , heartbreaking......Praying still for a fast recovery, Gosh that kid has a strength that all of us can learn from. take care of you hon, dont let that headache get too far out of control,
    xoxoxo

  19. I am shocked and dumbfounded as to the size of her colon and how it ever fit in her ever so small frame!!! Poor baby, I just can't imagine how much pain she has been in all this time and even more and even worse now..in recovery...so very hard to comprehend!

I know I havent been online here in a while, but you both remained in my thoughts and prayers. I continue to do so....

    ~love and hugs~

  20. Is there anything left of her? Or has she become the talking head? I didn't realize colons got that big. I'm not holding it ever again... I pray for her swift recovery. Give her my love.

  21. Good Gawd...that thing looks like a first timer making Boudin (cajun sausage...which I hate LOL). It is a wonder the girl could digest anythig at all, so maybe that big hunk is that steak she ate the night before. Now if she wore a zero before that thing came out of her do they make a -0 size? cuz she had to have lost a few sizes after that.

Ya know one time I heard something about John Wayne and Elvis having had something like 50 pounds of undigested matter in their colons when they died....I always thought "how in the hell?"....after seeing those pics I now understand how that could be possible. No wonder the docs push those colonoscopies and colon cleaners. Makes me wanna run to the drug store and buy one, but with my luck it'd flare up the old pancreas.

Best of luck with that migraine and my prayers for you both.....before ya know it, they'll have her up walking the halls and eating steak again.

  24. My goodness. Never seen the like. Glad both the chronic pancreatitis is over (my husband had one bout of pancreatitis and that was enough thank you) and the colon is out. Seen the pics since and she looks better already.
