[My] Life in Wisconsin

Home and Garden; and The Mella Family!

518 Garden .
I didn't do it.
But I sure am thankful for it!
.
.
.
Good Morning All;
As I wrote earlier, Jenny Mella and Casey were here all day Saturday. (I swear I could be half~dead and still be able to appreciate these two when they get together).

Jenny had her priorities straight.
First to play with Punk, who has been more than patient with my inability to play with her in a decent dog~pleasing way.
.
.
516 Jenny plays with Punk

.
.
.
Then to fill the bird feeder.
.
.

516 Jenny fills birdfeeder
.
.
She even shared her sock with the dog too.
.
.
516 Jenny and Punks sock
.
.
(After hiding Punks squeak ball in it).

Punk was adamant to get that sock off her foot...
.
.
.
.

She had fun brushing the dog and the cat too.

Know that Jenny can make fun out of anything;
(I firmly believe our world absolutely needs more people like her).
.
.
.
516 Janny BrushBall
.
.

After brushing the cat twice, and the dog once,
there is almost another "animal" that came off that brush.

.
.
.
516 furball
.
.
hehehe

Punk was not too sure what to think of it either.
.

She worried, and kept her eye on it until it got thrown away.

Yes. There was so much cleaning that got done.
Especially getting things off the floor.
(Gravity is still my enemy).

.
.
While cleaning under my little computer table, Jenny was attacked by a mouse!
.
.
.
516 Jenny attacked by mouse
.
hehehe.
Too funny!
.
.
.
After all was done, the kids were completely pooped out.
.
.

516 Sassy Jenny and Casey
.
hehehe
.
.
They left that evening, Jenny bringing Casey home before coming back out to visit with her own parents. Casey had a bit of pain- generally not an issue any longer, except she had left her pills at home.

.
.

Casey came out yesterday- While we walked a bit, Punk "pointed" to something. Since I have lots of gophers in the back yard, seeing her point was no surprise.
Again, she was of an adamant nature. Casey and I went to see.
A dead red~winged blackbird. It was put to the burn barrel in quick order.

Since Jenny's dad works for the Dept of Natural Resources, Casey called to their house, leaving a message to see if there were any diseases around that we should be concerned about. So last night when my phone rang it was no surprise when Mrs Mella was calling. Mr had said that it was probably a fluke that this bird had died- Sometimes they even wear themselves out with the migration etc.
So I will not worry overmuch about that one.

Mrs also asked if I would like for them to come over and till a bit for me; that maybe Casey might want to plant a few seeds.
Oh what a wonderful offer! Jenny had mentioned to them that I was a bit incapacitated at the moment, and hadn't been able to plant anything.

They were here within minutes!

518 Tilling

Yes he had to go around my little onion patch!
.
.

.
And he made it look so easy too!

And oh, the turned Spring soil smell is wonderful!
.
.

518 Mr and Mrs Mella
.
A job done perfectly!
I thank you all, again!
This is an awesome family!
.
.
I am itching to be playing and planting in that same soil... But I know I shouldn't do too much yet. My back, though a wee bit improved, still is pretty nasty- (and yes, I did rest).
Lordy, I practically slept on and off all night Saturday, and Sunday too. I just turned the TV on and fell asleep before my programs were even finished. I record my silly shows, so that is no problem for me.

I hope you are all having a grand week!
Rain, maybe, today- And time now for me to get in the shower-
Be back soon!

Love to all.

XOXO
Me

  3. great pictures!! as always...I want your camera! waaa!

  4. Casey and Jenny are a dynamic duo! With the size your place is, getting behind by several days, especially this time of year when nature waits for no one, can really make you play catch-up. Yea for Jenny's parents!! Now that the ground is tilled whatcha gonna plant?

I see your furball and raise you 3! Doc's blowing his winter coat and I've been getting a furball the size of a football (from his combing) everyday since Mother's Day! He looks like a different dog now!!

Yes, I guess there is more than one kind of mouse!

Hope that back of yours continues to get a little better every day.

  5. What great pictures of Casey and Jenny! They were very busy at your house and I love how you had your camera to snap pictures!!! I hope your back will get better soon!! I know how it isn't fun when you back is in pain!!! I hope your new week is going good and your Tuesday will be great! Hugs

  7. Hello "Mom".

Thank you for your words of wisdom and support. :-) I appreciate it. I have been reading through a few of your blogs.. you take sooo many pictures! I am envious. My camera fell of my dresser while it was turned on and it screwed up the lens. :-( Very sad for now I cannot take any pictures.. and being the poor college kid that I am, cannot replace it, either.

Hope your back is feeling better soon and you are back to your normal activity level! :-) If Punk needs someone to play with.. I have a Golden I don't want. (lol)

    Nyk...
Why was your camera on, and on your dresser? ;p

  9. What wonderful friends.. and yes.. the smell of that newly turned soil is awesome!

That is an awfully large mouse that attacked her.. lucky she did not really get hurt..hehe

Glad your back is starting to ease up a bit.. Many hugs

  10. There's nothing like good friends and family... Especially when they offer help and don't need to be asked!

Glad to hear that your back is easing off a bit... But just because you're feeling a bit better doesn't mean that you can go mow and plant right away... You'll just end up hurting worse...

ROFL @ da mouse that attacked Jenny... Here I thought you had meant an actual living mouse got her... LOL

Keep resting and hope you feel lots better really soon!

    Love Ya!

  11. Seems like you had lots of help this weekend and thats great ... I know you are probably going stir crazy now , not being able to do much but I am glad to hear there is some improvement in your back and I hope it gets better real soon ... Have a great week

  12. Hello Mommy!

Yeah, I admit, Jenny and I are quite the handful when we get together!!! That's a really good picture of her playing with Punk, they both look like they are having a blast!

HAHAHAHA!! The picture where she is putting her sock on Punk's paw looks like the dog is handing her the paw!! I didn't think you got a picture of her doing this, but I'm glad you did! Too cute...

That sock episode where Punk lost her ball to it was hilarious! I giggled when I saw that again. I agree, the world sure could use more Jenny people... :D

For the life of me I couldn't figure out what I was holding in my hand in the picture of Jenny trying to eat the hair... Then I realized that I clipped the cat's claws and it is the nail clipper!

The hair looks like a spotted cow... What do you make when you brush the dog and the cat?? A holstein!! :D

That cat sure isn't doing his job right if he allowed that mouse to exist... The mouse even turned dangerous, trying to hijack Jenny when she was vulnerable... Heartless rodent... It's a good think that he had his laser sighting device pointed away from Jenny and you or he really could've hurt someone!!

LAUGHING OUT LOUD!!!! In that picture of Jenny and I it looks like she is passed out!!! WOW! I guess she was tired!!

I was glad to hear that the bird shouldn't have died from diseases. You have so many permanent bird guests out there that it would be spread quickly amongst them... I am also glad that Mr. and Mrs. Mella came to do the tilling for you. He sure does make it look so easy! The pictures look wonderful... Hopefully I can get those things planted for you soon...

I am thoroughly glad that you're resting. It gets boring but every little bit helps to heal... Remember, you can always call me for help!! I will see you tomorrow morning!

    Love you Much Much!
    ~Casey

  13. Love all the pictures!

i like the "mouse" picture! i had expected something silly but not that!

Easy to see where Jenny gets her good nature (and her good looks)!

that hairball would make me give it the evil eye too! Looks like it is going to leap up and attack someone!

  15. Mr KhoolMan;
I was all a wonderfilled surprise to me!
I walked with Punk for about an hour today.
Came back in and slept for 7.
    Go figure!
    hehehe

    I call that 'winning'
(Maybe I should call it not enough caffeine).
But I was so proud to be out and walking- even if I had to borrow Caseys cane to do so.

  17. Sweet Bobbie;
And here I am almost to tears and back because I cannot find my Image Mixer CD (Pixela) that came with my first digital camera. So all I can do is make my pictures small enough to post.
Oh that makes me sad now- I could even fill in places that had streaks and such with that program.
I even stopped at some resale cd shops to see if they had a copy. No such luck.

  18. Sweet RT;
You had to mention several days when I am almost two weeks behind?
Oh I am going to cry!

But I am laughing at you thinking I can plant anything with these 4 disks in my back...
Maybe I could just go buy some seeds and throw them at the dirt?
(Then I would have to sit out there with the .22 and pick off all the little varmints that would think I was feeding them).
Hmm The burn barrel would be full.

You are very lucky that Doc will only shed twice a year-
Punk (Milly too), year 'round. The things we put up with.
I have furballs in my dryer, and in my corners, that could rival that.
    hehehe
Then again, there are not too many people that don't understand that the animals live here, and they don't.
EVERYONE wears hair when they leave here. I actually have one of those sticky rollers for removing hair from clothes right by the kitchen door.

I've said it before, and never will mind repeating it-

  21. Sweet Nyk;
I had to make sure that was you when I saw your comment on Caseys blog.
Very happy to have you on Multiply too.

My first thought about your camera is that it was possessed?
If so you are good to be rid of it. (I don't think my cameras ever moved of their own accord, just sometimes they do play Hide~&~Seek).
All kidding aside, did you think of maybe bringing it in and getting it fixed? Sounds like it's just jammed.

I took a picture today of my peppermint. It is finally about 3" tall, and it was just begging for warmer climes.

I was sitting by my sewing machine- All of a sudden Jenny squealed, and I really did crack up when I saw that darn mouse on her back!

I just put my back brace on... And it made me dizzy.
    wth?

When I was out walking today, I actually had to resist the urge to say "the hell with it" and get on the mower.
My grass is SO tall... Greg K cut back by the woods on Sunday- If I would have known he was there I would have asked him to cut my lawns too. I will call him tomorrow.

I knew I would "gotcha" a few people about that mouse remark that I made.

    A handful?
    Isn't it wonderful?!

Forgive me as I am laughing. The holstein remark will take me a while to get over.

And I still don't know HOW the dog figured out how to get that ball out of her sock!
Must have been months of practice with the SpongeBob toy.

I too tried to remember what you had in your hand. I assumed I had missed you giving yourself a dose of insulin.

If I find more dead birds I will bring them in, but only one is not to be upset about.

Thank you for all of your help in pulling those weeds yesterday.

Now I vaguely remember you calling while I was asleep. (Sorry about that). But I am looking forward to seeing you manana.

I even might have cut a bit (see comment back to SlurkieBaby), but couldn't even budge the gas can! (What the heck did you girls put in it the other day, rocks)?

Jennys parents are the epitome of "a good family"
Wish I could have given that to my own kids. You know, the 'real' family that we all wanted to have when we grew up? They are absolutely the very best.

That hairball just kept growing and growing. (I think even Mr. Sputty was jealous)!
I finally made the girls toss it when it bugged the dog so much.

  35. Don't feel bad, you'll get your planting and everything else done eventually - if I know you. I wish I could come up there and help you, there's nothing I love more than gardening, but there's a little thing called employment and bills to pay standing in my way.

Doc sheds year round too. I usually get a handful of fur each time I comb him, about three times a week. In addition to that German Shepherds get winter coats too, and in the spring they shed all their downy undercoat, it's called "blowing their coat". It's funny how much smaller he looks now without all that extra fluff! About a month ago I started putting Doc's excess fluff around in the bushes in the yard for the birds who were building their nests. I had to laugh when I saw a bird trying to fly back to where she was building her nest with a huge beakful of fluff that was bigger than she was. Now I have nests all around the yard with Doc's fur in them! I bet the baby birds enjoyed being in downy soft nests.

Still gonna throw those seeds at the dirt...

I put dog hair and dryer lint out for the birds too!
The bluebirds just go gaga over the lint, (which by the way is probably about 90% dog hair). maybe they like the Downy Fabric Softener too!
    hehehe

I giggled at your bird- Imagine she spit up a hairball or two?!
Those birds have to be careful about too much fur and stuff, because if they have too much their nests really do blow away.

I'll brush Punk outside (for the most part), and clean the brush into the wind.
Where it blows it never remains for long. (Remember I have those narfy varmints too).

I didn't know German Shepards were year 'round dust bunnies!
Cool. We can commiserate. (or rejoice)!

Guess I really needed the sleep. I slept through a LOT of phone calls and messages...
