[My] Life in Wisconsin

Just Sad

Good Morning All;
First of all, I am sickened hearing of the earthquake in Haiti and the massive devastation. What tragedy. My heart goes to them all, whether Haitian or tourist.

Prayers too for my friend Brats friend who has just lost her daughter. Hit by a car as she waited at the bus stop.

More for Drew who is in the hospital in Panama City Beach, suffering from a recurrent infection that is threatening.

Last, but not least, for my daughter CaseyAnne, who is so very tired of being in such pain. She called last night with a question about her surgeries that not only spoke volumes of her state of mind,  but stabbed through the core of my heart as well
"What if it doesn't work?"
She resoundingly stated she does not want to live with this pain for the rest of her life.
Hearing the sadness in her voice, I had no answer for her, save to tell her to research every question she had about it; and of course to tell her that I love her. She did not call me back, but emailed me the following:

"I didn't really find anything on the antrectomy given to cure gastroparesis, so I'm going to ask Dr. Sutherland about the success rates when we go in for my appointment on the 27th.
Love you MUCH MUCH,
~Casey"

As God as my witness, this damned disease will not win.
It will not destroy my daughters bright future and outlook on life.

  1. I thought I was past my crying, but this brought it back. Anne, I can only imagine as a parent how it is tearing you apart inside to watch Casey suffer so. You already know but I remind you both I am continuing to pray Casey and you.

I think getting some of the information from the doctor would be a great idea. Wouldn't it be perfect if we were handed all the details when we first walked out of the office?

I will add Drew to those prayers.

Take Care of You, you are an awesome mother ((((ANNE))))

  5. Casey is one of the smartest, and one of the most optimistic people I've ever known, so I know whatever she decides to do will be the right decision for her. I know she has faith in Dr Sutherland, and I believe her trust in him will see her through. I have every reason to believe she'll be pain-free very soon. But I know how hard it must be, sweet Annie, to see her in so much pain, especially when there's nothing you can do to help her, other than to be there for her. Hugs.

  6. CaseyFace has been dealing with this pain for so long now, it speaks volumes to me to know that she questions if the surgery will work. I know you both have a lot of faith in Dr. S. So far he has been a miracle worker for her. Casey is strong. Casey is highly intelligent. I know she will follow what her heart and mind tell her to do.

I know this is tearing you up inside Anne. You are such a strong woman (we all know where Casey gets it from). Just keep doing what you've been doing for Casey... It has done well so far!

    You are both an inspiration!

The earthquake in Haiti is just so sad... Kaylee went to her teacher today and asked if they could have some type of fundraiser to raise money for the people of Haiti. Warmed my heart that my baby girl has actually started to think of others...

My prayers continue for you and Casey. And will add Drew to my prayers as well!

    Love Ya!

  7. Hi Everyone!I am here now. And wish to thank everyone for your thoughts and many prayers.Life gets real shitty sometimes, and Casey's call took me by surprise last night. I heard from her before I left- another email that said Greg had come home and had cheered her up.(I have thanked God for Greg a thousand times over, and will continue to do so). She said she was awake then; but was going to nap a while. I had an appointment of my own earlier-I'll be OK.After that appointment I called Casey's cell.   I had brought along a bag of things she had left here, and was going to drop them off at her place if she was up.She answered her cell saying she was at my house!  (I had to giggle about that)! I made tracks to get home.
She was doing a few "logic" problems out of a games book. They will be going out of town this weekend to attend a winter game thing. (This will help her psyche too).

    Love to all

    XOXO

  9. Greg and I love her! What could be more supportive than that, right?!

She still could not find info on the success rate of the antrectomy etc etc etc...
I believe if she emails him he will have plenty to send to her.
Or maybe I will do that on her behalf.

    XOXO

  15. To be brutally honest with you Anna, I prefer the US way of putting a photo in print as it drives this type of horrible thing home and hopefully reminds us to drive more carefully, this also happened recently :(

  16. Sadly, the more people see it, the more they grow accustomed to it, the less they think about it :(

  17. We sometimes leave the vehicle wrapped around the tree ect, but I don't think accidents will stop occurring. We have this thing in Australia that for every accident a "Red"post is put up for every death a "Black" post they are like those post on the side of a road about a yard tall
