What about the watch?

Hi All;
A more sobering entry here... My heart goes out.
The first I heard of this was this morning.
Some places state that this was/is political. Some deny.
All I know is that whatever it is, it falls under "what in the hell is wrong with people?"
XOXO
Me
PS
Google "Allee Bautsch" for more.

"GOP victim unsure if violent attack was political."

NEW ORLEANS -- The boyfriend of Gov. Bobby Jindal's chief fundraiser says he's unsure whether protesters were responsible for attacking them April 9 outside a Republican event in the French Quarter.
Joseph Brown, 29, told police protesters were outside Brennan's restaurant during the Louisiana Republican Party event. But most had left about an hour before Brown and Allee Bautsch, 25, left the restaurant.
According to a police report obtained by The Associated Press on Friday, Brown said a group of men yelled obscenities and taunted them, but he heard nothing suggesting the attack was politicallymotivated. Bautsch suffered a broken leg in the attack.
The fundraiser took place during the Southern Republican Leadership Conference but was not tied directly to that event.

UPDATE: Mysterious Crime Scene Photo Appears of Jindal Staffer Beating
by Connie Hair
04/15/2010
UPDATE 12:23 P.M: Observations on photograph and the clear indications of a violent struggle:
Note the wristwatch on the curb to the right of the policeman's feet. Both the policeman and victim Brown have on their watches. We do not have a clear observation of Allee's wrists (but she is missing a shoe). The watch wasn't stolen if it belonged to Allee or it belongs to one of the perpetrators.
Also, the bottom of Brown's right shoe is actually ripped open.
Brown suffered a broken jaw and nose with a brain concussion. Allee suffered a broken leg that required surgery over the weekend.
TODAY'S ORIGINAL UPDATE STORY:
Late last night, someone calling himself Jack A. Neal posted a photo of the aftermath of the attack on his campaign staffer on Bobby Jindal’s Facebook page.

Good question about the watch...
Too bad no one knows where the photo came from...

New Orleans is probably the worst place in America to live from a street-crime standpoint, and probably the worst example if we're to try to understand the motivations of people committing such crimes.
ReplyDelete(I spent a week in New Orleans. I was on the street, getting ready to enter my hotel when I was, within the space of about a minute and a half, offered the 'services' of a woman, offered drugs, and nearly had my pocket picked. This has never happened to me anywhere else in the world.)
Is that them on the ground Anne
ReplyDeleteI don't like to see ppl on the ground like this hey Anne, sad
ReplyDeleteastra, you're right on target. Years ago a couple of friends stopped by N. Orleans for a night, and were lucky to escape with their lives.
ReplyDeleteSo your saying don't visit New Orleans then :-(
ReplyDeleteI've known people who lived in that area and the only thing that forced them out permanently was the Hurricane.
ReplyDeleteMore than likely, that watch belongs to the female victim. But...if I were laying there with a broken leg...I doubt I would care much about the watch. Political or not, violence is just becoming more and more something to beware of no matter where you go these days.
I think it depends on what part of a city, most any large city, that you're in that determines the danger level.
ReplyDeleteI know that Harry Shearer, voice of many Simpson's characters, lives there and loves it.
It's the same thing here in Chicago. Most areas are safe, but if you're from out of town, try to be advised by a Chicagoan which areas to avoid, especially after dark.
I think in the case of my aforementioned friends, they wandered into a part of New Orleans after dark which they probably shouldn't have. And wouldn't have, had they known better.
its such a shame that people are even capable of such things :(
ReplyDeleteWhat an awful thing to have happen to them ..So many people who don't give a damn about others , its a sad thing
ReplyDeleteIt really is sad, so come to Nova Scotia...where we love visitors and always are courteous and
ReplyDeletefriendly. No part of Town is unsafe, as far as I know. lol
There's something fishy about that..
ReplyDeleteHi Mommy,
ReplyDeleteSad to know that people can't even go to restaurants anymore without worrying about this... Then again, mean people are EVERYWHERE and all have a tendency to turn violent... It is human nature, just most of us reserve that for worst-case-scenarios of self-defense and won't attack someone just because we don't like them...
Shame it is... It is also very sad...
I hope despite the broken leg, jaw, nose, and brain concussion, they both will be okay... AND the attackers ARE caught and charged...
Love you MUCH MUCH!
