[My] Life in Wisconsin

Infusion # 5, (and a Little Ketch~Up too)-

Another shot of my sad little abandoned garden...

Good Morning All;
A couple of long days here... And will try to catch you up a little.

Casey had her 5th infusion on Tuesday- We were there for over 4 hours again. (The infusion itself taking a little less than 2).  Another impossibly hard time trying to find a vein that wouldn't roll, collapse, or infiltrate though.
Such is the case for many people that have been chronically ill.
Her next infusion is 2 weeks away. (That's a little bit of a break anyway).

While she will probably undergo 6 weeks of infusions at least 3 times a year, her next one will hopefully be the last for a few months.  This will depend greatly on her blood tests after that one.

Last weeks infusion went a little better.
So well in fact, that during treatment Casey had sent me off to Mickey Dee's to get her a bit of breakfast.

JUNE 2010 085
A sausage, egg, and cheese McMuffin and a couple hash browns for her!

Sorry to say she didn't feel the same this week...

The 1st of 8 jabs
This is the 1st of 8 bad pokes.
They even seriously considered using her feet or legs veins, but couldn't find any decent veins there either.

Over to Casey's place afterward- I stayed with her until Greg got home.

Punk has been very sore herself...
Her shoulder bothers her very much some days; and she has been limping again for the past three days.

Casey with a warming pouch for Punk
Casey warmed up a rice pack for Punk, and held it in place for a while.
Poor kids, eh?

I have the Meloxicam tablets to give Punk for this pain, but can only give them to her once a day.
Dr. Spires wants to do another liver panel on Punk before he would give her more of the other meds for her shoulder/back. (I forgot what that one is called, Pea knows- starts with an "R" though).

I did go to pick up some natural meds for the little pup though- They seem to help almost as well.

While I was at Casey's she showed me a FunYun she'd found in her package.

FunYuns chili pepper? hehehe
hehehe   Looks like a chili pepper!

At home, Punk either lays or sits a lot.

Punk with kinked tail
That pudgy tail of hers looks painful, doesn't it? Clearly it is not.
hehehe

Nor is Sputnik's tail painful as he watched everything too-

Sputty watching the dogs, (and ready to fight).
Sput the "Spinx" (It isn't right if I put the 'h' in there).  hehehe

Guess he was watching my camera at that point!
He had been keeping an eye on CocoBean-

Coco Strollin'
She had chased him into the garage, and was very proud of herself!

Mr. Miller didn't care one way or the other-

Curious Mr. Miller
... as long as he could find a shady part of the lawn!

Kelli's new home is going up by leaps and bounds. They even have 'rooms' now, and some trusses too!

Kelli Giggling
Obviously, t
his makes her very happy!  hehehe
She had been relating funny stories about the building process and her horses getting their teeth cleaned.
We laughed for over an hour!

It was at that point the Greg and Casey arrived...
Having Kelli retell those stories was priceless!

Greg and KC arrive
Greg says hi!

So far, I have Windows 7 on my desktop, but it needs a new modem too.
Am only waiting on that to be able to be back up and running with that one.

Next he will have to check out this laptop of mine.
Adding those 4,000+ pictures has slowed this one down horrendously.
hehehe
(Yes, I will remove them as soon as I see all of them on my desktop computer).

Had a nasty barfy migraine yesterday-
Casey drove out here- What would I do without her? She takes good care of me, even when she feels awful herself.

I'd better close for now. I have done enough "ketch-up" for one morning.
Will go into town after my shower and stay with Casey a while. She is hanging in there though! What a trooper she is!

Hope all is well in your little corner of the universe.
Have a wunnaful rest of the week!
My love to all!

XOXO
Me

  1. Rimadyl. Ask after the liver panel if they think that a low dose of prednisolone might be better. Rimadyl is nasty stuff as is the prednisolone (not as bad). Miss Isabelle has been on the Pred off and on for four years now and doing well with it. Otherwise I think you can use the glucosamine chrondroitrin on dogs too but ask the vet.....

Silly Casey and her "junk" food.... I like the "chili-un"... I JUST got rid of the last of the junk food out of the house after her visit.... Sent the last of the cookies to Vegas with the boys and th gatorade to the shop. Oh crap. Not true. Just realized I still have a bunch of cheesecake in the freezer. Good thing EVERYTHING ELSE she eats is healthy.......

Looks like Mr. Miller has lost some weight. (besides the summer fur cut)

  2. Glad for Casey that this will be the last one for a while.
Poor Miss Punk, gentle hugs for the puppy.
    Sputty is so handsome.
Good for Miss Kelli and getting the house done so quickly.
As you didn't say anything about your back, maybe it's a tad better? Praying it is.

    OXOX,

  3. Owie! Drew went thru that when we took him into the ER a couple of weeks ago(he walked by as I was looking at the picture..he turned and left..it brought up too many memories)..Hope the treatments show some good results..and they can give her a bit of a break. They always blame Drew for not drinking enough water..for his veins being bad..not the fact he's been stuck so much since he was 14 that most people never get stuck that much ever.
The poor puppy..I feel for her. It does look like having her tail like that would smart a bit.
The rest of the animals look good.
Time for bed..I hope. I zonked out after dinner. Heat and humidity zapped my energy.
    Have a good Friday !

  4. Hmmm...not much fun to be stuck, stuck and re-stuck when a vein is being searched for. I have been both the "stick-er" and the "stick-ee" and I know the "stick-er" hates to have to keep sticking and poking. I'm sure Casey will agree, you never really get use to being a pin cushion. You only start to "tolerate" it better.

Oh, poor Punk. It's hard to see our pets in pain. I bet she appreciated that heat pack. I use those rice packs too. Alllllllll night looooonnngggg! They are very soothing.

Anne...I still cannot get over how much Kelli resembles my mother-in-law when she was about that age. Some day I will have to scan a photo or two of her and show you. Right now, those photos are packed away and I would have to do some looking. I may have one already scanned in my files. I look through those. But gosh....they could have passed for being sisters!

  5. Sweet Pea;
I knew you would know that one!

Punk is due for her annual- (actually LAST month, but due to her dang UTI, he is putting off all of her shots etc).
We shall see how she is doing at 6 weeks treatment- (She is on the antibiotics for 3 months).
Additionally she has been on glucosamine chrondroitin since she was one and Mama Milly had run into her at full tilt.

    Cheesecake sounds yummy actually! hehehe
And Casey would like me to tell you that she does not only eat junk food. She eats what she knows will mostly stay put.
The Gatorade helps her in more ways than one also.

    Mr. Miller lose weight? Nope.
    But Kelli keeps trying...

  6. My Sweet Snotball;
Casey only has one more, in 2 weeks, and then she is done (for now). Wouldn't it be great if all of a sudden it all kicked in for her and worked?
Miss Louise at UMN wants to keep a very close eye on, and document all of Casey's blood tests- (Guess my little Miss Casey is even throwing them for a loop)!

Sputty is a pain in the royal a$$ of cat-dom. But he did catch and eat a mowiss yesterday. An outside one, as I rarely get anything in the house during Spring Fall or Summer. And of course he had to bring his 'feast' right up to the house and show it off to Casey and I!

    My back sux.
    Nuff said.

(I always think that everyone will think me a complete whiner if I make note of my back in my blogs anymore, so I try not to).
Suffice to say I need those prayers- All I can get.
    Thank you fr that.

Once my desktop is up/running again, I will post more about Kelli's home.
Too tough with the pictures now though.

  7. Sweet Denise!
I am sorry that anyone has to face the hide and roll veins.
About those treatments doing their magic, I can only say, "From your lips to Gods ears."

Casey downs oodles of water and Gatorade the 2 nights before her treatments- even more than she usually does, and it doesn't always work.
The nurses here also blame dehydration! Not true- (all you have to do is look at the tongue and gums for cryin' out loud to know if one is dehydrated or not).

I have been doing my fair share of 'zonking' as well. Feels good though, doesn't it?

  8. Sweet PeachieBaby!
CaseyAnne is at the 'more than tolerate it' point- She doesn't mind watching, and she has pointed out more than a few veins that are good ones yet.

Punk is still quite gimpy- Maybe it's all this rain we have been getting, and the humidity that always follows it.

I can't wait to see the pics of Kelli's look-alike! That is really cool-
They say we all have a mirror twin so your mother in law must be hers!
