[My] Life in Wisconsin

Important Note to Everyone that has my Email Address.

Here.
We Go.
Again...

...Damned email hackers.

I will be updating my email address soon, and would appreciate if you no longer send email to either email address you may have for me.

I have spent the last hours trying to change everything I have with Yahell, and am tired of their bull~crap.

The last time this happened only made me madder to send the offending emails on to them-  They simply told me it was ME!
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but I did decide that I would NOT report this to Yahoo or AT&T ever again!

No problems since - until now that is.
So today, in my spam folder, which I check daily, I came across an email to me, from me.
Subject line was 'the hottest coeds in town'
Ooh Baby, (and "ooh~la~la" too), isn't that just what I want and need?  hehehe

So tonight, I just checked the full headers and forwarded to Mr. Greg.
Here is his reply.

It looks like you were hacked by an IP out of Mumbai. This is probably just a proxy point for some Russian hacker from the look of the domain that they were linking to. The server is no longer active, it is not responding to pings or the port scan that I ran.

It seems as though especially Russian crime syndicate hackers have been running exploits on web based email accounts to send spam. I had the same thing happen to my account, when my password was relatively easy.

Make sure your password is very random so that it's not going to be on a list of top passwords or in a dictionary.

Yes, I have changed everything,
twice so far-  And talk about 'random too.
And everything here on Multiply also.
(New *random* passwords are easy if you have a word search puzzle book nearby)! hehehe

Except for my email address, which I am still thinking on.
*Dare I ask if anyone has any ideas?!? hehehe (Casey has already sent me one idea).

At any rate, please do not use those other 2 email addresses.
I will send everyone in my address book my new one when I get it. Which should be soon.

Love to all,

XOXO
Me

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, came another email ~TO me...

By creating and using your Yahoo! account, you agree to abide by
Yahoo!'s Terms of Service (TOS).  Pursuant to the TOS, Yahoo! reserves
the right to terminate your account or otherwise prohibit use of your
account in the event that, among other things, Yahoo! believes that you
have violated or acted inconsistently with the letter or spirit of the

It has come to our attention that you may have violated the TOS
(http://www.yahoo.com/r/ts) on Yahoo! Mail (http://mail.yahoo.com).
Please reread the TOS and cease any use of your account that may
violate the TOS.

WTF?

My reply? As I realized I had
to explain it on an 8 year old level...

The subject line? "MY email address, your job-"

...

" xxxx" is a DISPOSABLE email address of xxxx

You have sent ME the administrative notice!?!?

I did not send the email in question!   Rather, I reported it TO you!
What the hell is going on?
Good grief! I have violated nothing!

Would you please just do your jobs and trace the original offending email instead of hollering at me for it?

Sincerely,
Anne

  3. Once in a while I email something to myself so I can save it in a folder for future reference. So you're NOT looking for the hottest coeds in town?

  7. sometimes hackers can send emails using YOUR name on the reply to line to avoid your spam filter.

Go in your e-mail and change your password. If you can't you are hacked. if you can... then they can't get back in.

  8. I once had an e-mail returned since I had put the wrong address.
It was naughty and supposedly I lived in Africa.
I proved to Yahoo who it was and all the details. Nothing.
I left them and used my ISP to store my e-mails.
    That was 2-3 years ago.
I have changed I ISP and guess what.
    Yahoo is their base.
I now keep my System and Apps on my computer and everything else on an external drive.
If I go on line I disconnect the external drive.

  10. Yahoo is 'porous'.

You might try Gmail. I'm not fond of the people at Google, but they've never had a security breach, either.

  11. My gmail filter is pretty good. Rarely get junkmail in my inbox, of course I usually use a different e-mail when I sign up for things online and stuff. How about whenannawantsuropinionshe'llsmackitoutofu@gmail.com That's a lot of letters for the spammers to type.
