[My] Life in Wisconsin

Does anyone have any personal experience about ALS? All I can find is what I read online- I don't seem to know anyone; even a friend of a friend of a great aunt who lived in Okinawa, who knows someone, etc etc etc... Just curious. Thank you ahead, for any input I might receive. XOXO, Me

  1. We had a close friend of the family die of ALS and then another friends husband who died of it quite some time ago. It's actually fairly rare but there seems to be a cluster in CT

  4. I've known people with the condition, but not my own issue, thank God. A lot of military are returning with ALS. Frees me out, one of my sons is Military so when he returned injured, with neurological issues I did some research. Also cared for end stage ALS patients over the years. It is totally debilitating. Hoping your not having to deal with this diagnosis yourself, but if you are Im sure your positive attitude will get you through.

  6. A friend of mine died of it last year. It is fast moving and a very hard disease to have to live with. The person loses all mobility and even their speech.

  10. I am sorry that your friend died.
It is rare, and that is why this is the first time it has ever touched my life in any way, shape, or form.

  15. Mobility and speech- lack thereof- can always be dealt with.
The worst things to worry over are the potential for choking and also not being able to breathe.
    Scary, scary stuff.
I am sorry about your friend.

  18. I hope your friend's husband does not have to suffer long. Such a sad disease. Hold them close while they go through this.
