DON'T BRUSH YOUR TEETH! Simple Words to the Wise

Good Morning!
And I need absolutely to start off with a warning!
If you are overly sensitive to questionable talk at the breakfast table, please do not be reading this while you are eating.
After losing 2 teeth here, and after questioning the dentist, I have learned almost MORE than I needed to know...

However, this information should be shared with anyone who has ever thrown up...

As you all know, I get migraines- (too many to count even in a single month).
Along with my migraines come the sensitivities to light, sound smell, etc etc etc... And most are accompanied by nausea and vomiting.

The dentist has now informed me that I have the mouth of a migraneur! (Yes, even after I told him of my preference to Cherry Pepsi)... He said the teeth would be 'cavetized' on other surfaces, had this been due to the sodas.
He also told me I needed to learn what to do after I vomit. (This, after I told him that I rinse then brush immediately afterwards)...
He said simply that "brushing immediately is the very worst thing one can do."
WHAT???
He said that when one brushes immediately afterward, that you are actually forcing the stomach acids down into your gums. I am to rinse and swish my mouth out with warm water, (after ten minutes or until my mouth regains a more normal feel and taste to it), and only after that am I allowed to brush my teeth.
And yes, this makes almost obvious sense. But then I just had to ask why it took me 30+ years of this BS before anyone told me this??? Needless to say I am more than a little upset about that! And in the meantime, I have done MUCH damage too. And that thought just makes me ill to think on.
So, heed these WORDS to the WISE here...
If you are ever ill, please do NOT brush immediately.
I always thought it odd that I could sit and floss every night while I watched tv, and always took decent care of my pearly whites; and yet still had problems???
NOW I KNOW WHY!  (And now you do too)!

I received a call from Aaron last night (my soon-to-be Son-in-Law), asking for my blessings on their impending marriage... What a sweetheart!
And yes, of course they have my entire heartful of blessings. We chatted for as long as my mouth could handle it- He sounds so very happy! (But of course, since this is one of my daughters hearts and hands in question, I could not imagine that he wouldn't be)! He also said that it looks like Monday will be "The Day"- He works such terrible hours and trying to even get a few hours off to get married is a tough thing! (Those of you in the IT line of work will be able to sympathize with that)!

I spoke to Miss Valerie yesterday too- She called about noon; and is doing quite well for someone who has just had her tonsils removed. She proudly told me that she had ice cream and a Popsicle for breakfast!
As for myself, I was afraid to eat because I didn't want to create pain where it had been so minimal. (But my tummy won that argument by about 6 last night)... hehehe Since I hadn't eaten in 2 days, I took it easy for that meal- a bowl of pea soup and a few of the yummy oyster crackers in it... Oh, and it was more than enough too. The simple act of crunching those crackers was a little bit of Heaven in my mouth! Now a very rare prime rib would be great too!
Yes, I do have a bit more pain today than yesterday; a wee bit in my teeth, but primarily in my jaw...
(They didn't really need to use a two-ton floor-jack for keeping my mouth open, did they)? That wasn't in the contract...
Hopefully this discomfort too shall pass quickly. I have always been a fast healer. Lucky me!
And I'd better close before I make everyone here an odd shade of green!
My apologies... It is just TOO important NOT to share.
Take care, and have a 'wunnaful' weekend!!!

XOXO
Anne

  3. Intersting....it's too bad that most dentist really don't share what we nee to know to keep our teeth or from having problems later. I had this one dentist who told me for years what to do and not to do...when he retired, I noticed the new dentist didn't say anything and he just wouldn't fill my cavities and instead waited until I was in pain and then he capped them. AND no dentist since then has told me to floss. Hmmmmm after I migraine I usually just rinse my mouth out.

Interesting...thanks for making sure I read this.
    hugs

  4. Ha ha ha not to freak you out Anne but I have very good reflux control, if I feel sick I know I have enough time to go to the kitchen and pour a glass of Pura Tap water, walk to the little room ( Toilet ) kneel down place the water to the side get some paper and only then do I Up Chuck, only then swishing and rinsing the water in my mouth thus cleaning it, I do as you have been told. I have 5 gold teeth so I count them in the bathroom ;)

  7. Aw heck Mr. Lester, I'm not worried about THAT.
First I shall worry about your own head.
Then I will tell you that I wrote all that so stuff doesn't turn out to be posted elsewhere without credit being given to me.
(BOTH unrelated incidences yesterday had posted thing of mine BUT had also given me credit AND had also linked to my information) So THAT is very cool

I am still mad they didn't ask- BUT at least they did it correctly.

    Love to ya
