[My] Life in Wisconsin

"American" Monkeys, Our FDA, (And Other Primates)...

Good Friday Morning...

I have been up for quite a while, just reading and running through your blogs...

And to my attention came yet another (UNpublicized) Pet Food Recall. More specifically a DOG FOOD RECALL.

Am wondering how many of you have the following brands on your shelves, or in your treat buckets?

This from www.petconnection.com ...

Apparently WalMart has done some testing, and pulling of products. A very brief synopsis of this story read as follows:

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. quietly stopped selling two brands of dog treats in July, after customers voiced concerns that the Chinese products may have caused their pets to fall ill, but no recall has been announced, a company spokeswoman confirmed.

The world’s largest retailer started pulling Chicken Jerky Strips from Import-Pingyang Pet Product Co. and Chicken Jerky from Shanghai Bestro Trading on July 26, spokeswoman Deisha Galberth said late Monday.

Wal-Mart also placed a computerized block on all cash registers to prevent workers from selling the products, Galberth said.

"When we took it off shelves at the end of July, we pulled it based on the customer feedback so we could do testing prior to announcing anything publicly," Galberth said. "That’s why did not make a public announcement — it was still going through the testing process."

WHAT????

...And where was our FDA notification???

I have gone to the FDA's website and have emailed them, asking them just that. No reply as of yet, but I sure will let you know if anything DOES get done, or addressed in response.

In addition to all of these targeted foods, (now their mother companies are defendents in a class action lawsuit):

Now, go check your pantries...

(I'll wait)...

Then, ON to my blog...

.

.

As many of you know, (or not), CASEY is a HUGE fan of anything simian and primordial... She has many monkeys, apes, gorillas, and orangutans in her little collections of stuffed animals etc.

,

,

This is/WAS one of KC's stuffed animals after Kelli and I had shaved Mr. Miller.
.
hehehe

.

.

The one at the very top is also a shorn Miller Ape. It is/WAS a bank... (I just am not too sure what she did with these two things after I had them covered in Mr. Millers fur)...

And my thoughts go back to late March of 2000...

Casey and I had taken a walk back to the woods to check on windstorm damage to the campsite. There really was plenty of mess to see.

One tree had fallen straight across the camp, some had toppled over the cliffs; and as we walked around there was still a great deal of wind. The wind in the trees made it almost impossible to hear anything with the leaves on the ground blowing around, and the taller pine trees creaking with each gust.

Kinda creepy to be in there at that point, so I took my little pictures and we left.

This was long before I'd ever gotten my digital camera... And so I'd snapped off about 5 pictures to make sure I had one that was acceptable...

We had a wake/showing to go to that evening. One of my friends had just passed from lung cancer. Before I went to that prayer service, I dropped off my film at the corner store, so it would be developed and ready for me when Wanda's service was over.

...Looking over the prints before paying for them, I immediately asked her for an 8 X 10 of one of them...

Imagine what I captured on one of those pictures, making its way across the campgrounds, from one ravine to the other!!!

Like I said, it was windy.

I was trying to focus on Miss Casey.

Neither one of us saw/heard anything out of the ordinary.

Nor was anything on any other of those pictures...

.

.

(Yes, Deb, you MAY steal it and try to figure it out)...

.

.

That is a frickin' monkey if I ever saw one. The caves and the ravines in the woods making for perfect cover. (But what about the winters)???

Showing the picture to the gal at the NEW ZOO when they had come in for lunch one day... She said it was a baby bigfoot! (On my parents graves, I swear she said that without batting an eye). She also said that in the 2 days since I'd taken the picture that he and his mama could be miles and miles away by then...

I showed it to all my customers too. Some had some really weird ideas. Others wanted to go camp there...

We have never seen this again/since.

Any ideas????

Have a grand weekend.

XOXO
Anne
