  1. I feel so badly for this young couple...just "a dog" to the cop but the world to this couple...my heart breaks for them and their furbaby

  3. Thats pathetic, yeah he broke the law but the cop could have escorted him to the vet clinic with lights and sirens and then given him the ticket....sheesh!

  4. I knew I wouldn't be able to watch the video but I tried. When that Ahole of a cop said" It's a dog, you can get another one" I just about got sick.As reported in the article he could have escorted them to the vet or done something decent. Instead he treated them like criminals. Methinks this officer watches too many episodes of Cops !

  5. OMG~how horrifying. Lossing a pet is like loosing a family member. Yes, the man was speeding~so, escort him to the animal hospital and write him a damn ticket there!! I'm sure he would have gladly paid the fine (and then some) had he been able to save his dog's life.

  7. The cop was pretty much a jerk to say "its a dog get another one".

I CAN however see how the cop might have been a bit stressed by the whole thing too. I was up in arms after reading all the comments about speeding on an open road late at night etc...

BUT after watching the video, what very few people mention was that the man kept going when pursued by multiple policemen. He EVADED the police at high speeds until they FORCED him off the road. In this day and age, when a frantic man hops out of a car that has been involved in a high speed chase the police might be a bit understandably nervous themselves.

You can hear the officer clearly ask the man if he is on drugs and the guy does look like he is on drugs hopping around all over. However, once the policeman found out what was going on (he does look in the car at one point) he should have postponed his lecture, taken dog and owners in his car (so that they arrive safely without further risk to others) to the emergency vet, and THEN given the lecture and ticketed them for speeding and evasion.

Insensitive, yes. Excessive, a bit. Punishable by termination and jail as some are calling for, not so much.

  8. What an idoit that cop was and all! I can't believe after finding out what was going on he didn't just follow them to the vet but just let the dog die!! I feel so bad for the couple!! Ugh!!

  9. I agree, that our pets are precious to us. "just a dog" never. However, my child is way more precious to me than any dog, and if he wrecked and killed my child, Hell hath no fury. I think the cop was right to pull him over, a little insensitive, but still right. The man deserved a ticket, and an escort to the vets. The cop has done nothing wrong.
