[My] Life in Wisconsin

Out of Sight, Out of Mind

 magnify

There really are two layers of the cedar fencing.
hehehe

.
.
Good Morning Everyone;
I spent most of yesterday in this frigid battle Man~vs~Nature.
(Not liking it much either).
I dressed, and waded through the snows to the old shed.
I tried (in vain) to get the snowblower started.
And somewhere in the midst of that little project, I had to come inside for an extension cord.
My answering machine was going off, so I waddled up the steps to answer...
It was my friend "Beep" hehehe (Do the click).
***Thank you Connie! What a nice surprise, and so very nice to hear your voice again; (I needed those few moments to warm up a bit too)!
Though I shall have to let Connie herself comment, and tell you what she thought snowblowers were really like.
hehehe

And back outside to wrestle with that darned snow machine again.
No, it didn't work...

So to the back of the house
to try to improve on my laundry s(h)ituation..

I got that darn drain hose off, bringing it inside to rid it of the ice crystals in it. (It was NOT the hose, rather the pvc pipe that was completely frozen solid). Weird, that.
I dumped ice~melt down the pvc; (after about 4 gallons of hot water to the outside). Suddenly the water and ice were gone and the pipe was clear.
While I have done a few loads of wash I have not yet reattached the hose.
Will do so shortly.

Punk and Milly showing you how deep the snow was.
Yes, they waited for me to throw another toy.

Punk diving in to where the toy had buried itself.
Milly wanting no part of the 'face~wash' that goes with the dig

They played the entire time I worked on the snowblower.

But after that, Milly actually went to her kennel-

(I mean "igloo" of course)...

waiting for her mama to come out of the doghouse.

Out back once again...

(and growing bored again too)

Life cannot be all freezing cold wet work.
There has to be freezing cold wet "play" too.

Just be careful, Lady Punk;
Things change quickly when you're bored.

Think "Sitting Duck" perhaps

Recovering quickly,
she remembers she's a Labrador Retriever.

As such, she needs to bring any object back to me.

Digging through the frozen tundra,
She really did try to find it...

And couldn't figure why I was laughing at her...

But is smart enough to see that I was laughing at her.
And time for her to laugh too!

As for my snowblowing...

I took this picture before I'd tried to start that machine.

And then after, I took this one.

Much nicer with the garage door down.

You can't shovel what you can't see.

And yes, "Out of Sight, Out of Mind!"

It was past time for me to come in and warm up my paws too.

I came to the computer, (having it strategically placed so the heat blows onto my feet).
I checked on my Multiply page.
And was once again told I had to verify that I was Human.

I waited for the 2nd screen to come up.
(My freezing fingers had entered the first one wrong).

And up it popped!
.
.
human by you.

No kidding?
But, oh well.

As reflective of my life as it was at the moment,
I still had to laugh.

Have a "wunnaful" Wednesday.

Love to all

XOXO

  2. Milly and Punk actually look like they enjoy the snow - silly dogs!

We've only had one dusting so far, and some freezing rain which makes driving to work on mountain roads a hair-raising experience!

Glad you got your laundry situation figured out. Why isn't the PVC pipe wrapped with insulation to keep it from freezing?

  3. HAHAHAHA!!!!! THIS WAS HILARIOUS!!! As you already knew because I was on the phone with you as I read it, laughing out loud!!

That was hilarious that Punkie still tries to find snowballs when they are thrown at her. She has done this her entire life and I wonder if it will ever dawn on her that they go away when they hit the ground... Hmm...

I can't believe how much snow we got! I was watching it all night and day (didn't end up sleeping at all until about 4pm yesterday) and it just kept SNOWING!!! I thought for sure that the sky was going to run out of snow to drop pretty soon!!! I honestly can't remember a time in my life when it snowed this much and snowed continuously... This is crazy.... I am so happy that you got the PVC pipe cleared out!! That's great news!!! YAY!!!!

    I will see you soon!

    Love you MUCH MUCH!!

  4. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Brilliant! I LOVED the snowball - and that's the first time I've seen any of your woofs without a smile on their face. Absolutely brilliant Anne (I'm still laughing!).

Yes, I have some of the deep white stuff outside too. The Sears chap (who was supposed to be installing my electric humidifier this morning!) got stuck at the end of next door's driveway, in the exact spot that the bin lorry had got stuck (with his millions of wheels) a couple of hours previously! I let him borrow a snow shovel to dig his way to my drive (which his lordship had cleared. You know what he's like!) so he could pull in and do the job, and what did he do????? Once he got going again, he carried on .... straight past the end of my drive and out onto the next street (that had been cleared by the snow plough!) Unbelievable! (We are NOT amused!!!) LOL!

That 'write the letters you see' word is a good one!!!! What????!!!! Indeed! And were you human? Did it say? (Did you say...scroll up.....just checking to see if I missed that bit......) Hmmmmm.... didn't say, but they let you on here so I guess .......okay! You're human!

    Love and hugs xxxx

  5. Punk truly does love that snow! Both of them do. But mama Milly is getting older and feels the cold a little more than before. But they seem to have so much fun playing in it. Wouldn't it be nice if we could occasionally read our pets minds. But somehow, that look on Punks face spoke loudly enough. LOL!

I have never even seen the captcha phrasing here on Multiply before. I see it all the time over on Myspace. They occasionally have some stupid word phrases pop up too. But the one you got........hehehehehe!....someone has a sense of humor! I wonder if it was a computer who came up with that word or one of us humans. Either way....funny!

    ReplyDelete
  6. errr..... wonder if they know that this word comes up in their "random list"

    It looks really freaking cold.

In their infinate wisdom, my company is sending a guy from here to work on a boat crane over by you next week. They don't understand when I keep saying, WATCH THE WEATHER....

    Poor guy is gonna DIE.

Riely used to fetch snowballs too. And give you a nice white wash when he was done. (read knock you on your face in the snow.)

  7. How deep is my snow? What snow? Don't have any and sure don't want any either.

Looks like the furbabies enjoyed their time in the snow though. Glad to hear that you got the laundry line thawed out.

  10. They DO enjoy the snow...
Punk is young enough yet not to let her freezie paws bother her overmuch. Mama Milly knows when to quit. hehehe

I will trade you my yard for your dust...
    Wait, lemme think about that?

The pvc isn't wrapped because it never froze up on me. 'Til now. To wrap anything in sulation doesn't do a heck of a lot of good unless you are wrapping it electrically. And I do have the tape etc here now, but seems such a waste of energy when this seems to be a fluke or whatever...

As I laugh at the sky running out of snow. (Not going to happen when there is so much open water on the Bay and the Lake- and especially when it is coming counterclockwise from Detroit. (Thank you Chevy).

To thank you for bringing me in for a shot for my st00pid head.

I loved being on the phone with you as you read it too. Got to 'see' your response first hand!

Seems as though Punk still doesn't want to leave something behind is all. She thought she had a job to do, and tried her level best to git' r' done.

    Off topic.

  12. I think she was either in shock, or asking me whether that's all I had?
    hehehe

    (We) are not amused... hehehe
(Seems to be going around as a general consensus of sorts)!

I can't believe Mr Sears and Roebuck just kept going? What the heck was that all about- One would think if he got that far, well that he would at least finish the job that he hadnt even begun...

The plow got stuck out front of my place- and another right down by Kelli's !
The dogs were outside- (wish I'd have captured this one), and they were both still, listening to his wheels spin. Very unsure whether to bark or head for the hills.

Not too sure if I am human...
Better ask me tomorrow when the shot wears off.

  13. I think you are right about Miss Milly!
    Older (and wiser too)!

There ARE times I wish I knew what they were thinking.
(But when I listen to their thoughts, they only come out as these little fast "arfs")...

I had quite the chuckle about the capcha thing.. But wonder if they randomly send these out--- What if I were 10 years old?

And that makes it really freaking cold! (Even in MY book)!

Glad you got the pipe cleared out and you can do some laundry now!

I don't have any snow to play in :-( Wish I did... Kaylee would LOVE it! She's never seen snow as deep as what you have...

Stay warm! Hope you're resting well!

  19. This snow is driving me crazy. Affected work, put boss in crappy mood and you what they say - it rolls down hill. My furnace acted up, luckily the fix it man came before I had to go to work. Even with the waterbed, I must say the Green Giants peas were frozen.

    You take care of yourself.

  20. Im actually jealous. I have only seen 1-2 inches of snow that lasted an entire 24 hours before it melted :(
I have children that want to play in the snow and a husband who works from home.....where is my snow??? LOL.

I am glad the laundry/ice issue is resolved and I am sorry to hear your head required another shot. I hope you are resting peacefully as I type and wake pain free in the morning!

Peace, Love, and holiday Joy to you!!!

  21. Oh Annie,

    I absolutely LOVED this blog!
I was enjoying the pictures of the dogs,
especially when Punkie got hit with the snowball,
gave you that look, then tried to find it afterwards.
Then when I saw the encryption word,
I about fell off my chair laughing so hard!
Perhaps it was trying to tell you that it's
how you were feeling after spending all that
time trying to get that snow blower running,
but had failed attempts at it and had to use
your shovel instead to remove the snow?
ROFLMBTO! I'M SO SORRY, BUT IT'S FUNNY!
I've never had to use that on here either.
On yahoo and other sites, but NOPE, not here.

    I'm sorry... STILL LAUGHING!!!

YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU ANNIE!

Hope you are having better luck today.

Much love and big hugs ~ ღ♥§♥ღ Susan X♥X♥X♥ ღ♥§♥ღ

    P.S.

My snow came with temps of 20°, was here for two days,
then melted away with rain in temps of 50°.

    I love that picture too!
The laundry just keeps piling up.
And no I do not change my clothes unless I am snow soaked. (Mostly I just add a layer here and there).
    Send Kaylee here.
Bring yourself too as i will not be here to watch where she sinks in the snows.

    Warm.

    Mr Khool;
You can always crack me up!
    What happened to your furnace???

Why is your boss in a bad mood?
    His turn to shovel?
Or is he allergic to white?

Sounds as if you need a new thermostat or mattress pad for the bed...
Those or a mitten in your drawers.

  24. Jealous of what, exactly, Sweet BethieBaby?
(If you say 'snow' I will come down there in shorts and take a swing).
    hehehe

I told ya to come up here already.
Think of it as a vacation you take that only requires you to shovel snow every now and then... This will, no doubt, clear your mind of any jealous feelings. I promise.

Leave Mark at home- (He will still be in his office when you get back).

  25. About that captcha word...
I get them so often that I just start typing- and I actually started typing it, before I'd realized what was coming out of my fingers!
That's when I grabbed the camera and put "WHAT?!?! " in there.

Don't tell anyone, but the only shoveling I did that day was to slear out the back door so I could at least work on that darn drain.
They claim it will be above freezing this weekend. Maybe Mother Nature will then take care of what the plow had left behind.
That idiot jackass returned and my back is a complete disaster; it hurts to sit, stand, or even lie down. And I wish it was muscular because then I know it would go away.
But it wasn't bad after I got that shot...
    hehehe

I love your pictures! They make winter look pretty!
Oh I forgot, it's not even winter yet...
    UGH

Supposed to get down to ZERO tonight... It is now at 7 degrees.

  26. Hahaha....yep, I'm jealous of your snow!
If that sounded like a dare so I can see you come down here in your shorts, your absolutely RIGHT!!!

The only problem about coming up there is I'd have to drive in it....and I don't get all that practice you do. So next year I'll come in September and stay till the first thaw. Oh DANG, that wont work either, the kids have to go to school.

I about fell off my chair laughing at your comment about Mark.....sooo true, so true!

  27. flintville saidWhat happened to your furnace??? Why is your boss in a bad mood? The furnace fusebox or circuit board was kapoot. Fixed and runs smoothly now. My boss was crabby, awful weather = no or low sales = no bonus for the big honcho.

  28. I don't know and wish I did...

We are now having our first big 'winter storm'... supposed to snow between 1-6 inches but they can't tell us where exactly... We also have high winds, rain and cold (it's in da 30s)

I don't think we will get any snow... The weather people up here are LIARS for the most part, so I will believe it when I see it... LOL!

  29. Some of those pictures are from around the house,
and some are from when I was out and about.
I like just enough snow to take the grandkids sledriding.
And that's ALL we need is enough to do that!
But not TOO cold, either. I HATE the cold!
I know Bethie LOVES it though. But I am cold blooded.
You try to stay warm, Annie. Hope you are feeling better!

  31. What wonderful shots .. Love that shot of Punk.. Not being amused..hehe

I just had to call that morning.. I was just thinking of you and had to make the call.. Im glad it gave you a moment to warm up and to have a little rest too.

As to a snow blower.. well.. remember I do live in SE Texas and I have never actually seen a snow blower.. So when I hear the term.. "snow blower" I think of this large leaf blower kind of thing.. I think its misnamed. hehe To be honest.. It wasnt until maybe a couple of years ago that I learned different.

Glad you got your drains unfrozen! You definately need to invest in a small heat tape for that pipe. For the house in arkansas we have to insulate all the pipes too.. and we actually found those noodles the kids use in swimming pools to be some of the best insulation for smaller pipes we have found.. cheap and easy too!

Sorry it took me so long to get here.. I have been going bonkers with my computer and trying to make a video. One track mind here..hehe

    Luv to you!
