Good Afternoon Everyone!
Guess what?? It's snowing!

Minnesota December 2008 012
This was taken on our way driving in last Sunday.
No, it is not a crooked picture,
just the snow that was so wind~driven.

And the roads were like this...

Oh, I sure did hate those last 90 miles! Worse too, when there is a sheet of ice and freezing rain under the snow.

Oh wait, the roads are STILL like that...

I hear that Flintville got about a foot of snow, between Thirsday night and yesterday afternoon; with lots more coming tonight and tomorrow...
Poor Kelli beside herself, shoveling, taking care of the horses, and my place too. (Tim had recent back surgery otherwise could be out there too).

She even said she would try to dig out Casey's car (looking much like a Chevrolet Igloo now), and move it in the garage.

Her Tim is a truck driver- He drove yesterday through the whole snowstorm.
When he called Kelli to tell her to try to leave work early and how bad the roads were, he also told her that his trailer tried to pass him 4 times!
(I laughed myself silly over that one).
She said it took her an hour and a half just to get to work yesterday.

But they are both home, and safe, (and 'off' for the weekend); and that's what counts.

I am sure you are all wondering about Casey...

She is MUCHO better today!!!

Her urine began flowing quite well last night too. And what a worry that had been for us all.

But I will let you judge for yourself how she is doing...

Just check these out!

I shall do a "before and after" here for you...

Such a huge difference without her NG Tube!
And she will be on liquid diet.

One of you (PeachieBaby, I think), had asked about the leg circulation.

No worries there;
these have been on her,
working 24/7,
since before her surgery.

That nurse was SO fun and funny too.
We have had too many that do not have a sense of humor, let alone a bedside manner.
This man had it all.
You could tell he loved his work, and his patients also.

Credit where credit is due, everyone has been so nice, so far.

Of course I miss home.
Kelli assures me that Miss Milly is just fine, and will now be (another) inside dog.
Ruh~Roh. (Didn't bargain for that one).

I hope ALL of my grandbabies are all set for Santa Claus.

I'd better close for now and head back up to the hospital. But I want to give Casey and Greg a lot of time together too, as he will have to be heading home tomorrow. Duty calls.

I imagine you are all busy with last minute details with your own preparations for Christmas.
I hope you aren't too busy to be reading this all.
Sorry, I do have a tendency to get a bit long winded at times
. Hope you're not too busy to let me know you were here. hehehe

Know that Casey is doing remarkably well- Greg has just called; and Casey is now sitting in her chair!
If it is possible, she is 1000% better than yesterday.

Know too that Punk has been an absolute angel being left alone in this hotel room many times, and for many hours at a time.
Off her feed yesterday- probably feeding off my own emotions. But has eaten today; AND of course we have already played in the snow. Twice.
I did go to WalMart and get some winter skivvies, and some warmer socks too. Should be all set now.
Hope you are too! Be warm and safe. Know you are loved.

My love to all. And again, our most heartfelt thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers. They have worked wonders for Casey- and for myself too. Knowing there are people out there that care everso much means the world to us.

XOXO
Anne

That nurse is loving those gorgeous legs...

So glad to know that Casey is doing so much better...

Also glad to know that you do not have to be DRIVING in that snow... and hope it stops long enough for Greg to get home tomorrow.

  4. Sooo much good news!!

I had tears in my eyes as I was reading this because it's something we've all been waiting, and wishing, and praying for, for so long now.

I can hardly believe Casey is already out of bed and doing so well.
YEA CASEY - you show em how it's done!!

Maybe her speedy recovery will result in less hospital time? (Adding that to the prayer list now!)

I'm glad Punk has started eating again (yes they ARE so sensitive to what we're feeling!). And how about you Miss Annie? Did those spots you were seeing turn into a migraine? I sure hope not, but with all the stress you've been under these past few days I wouldn't be surprised.

Looking forward to updates with more good news! Hugs to all. (And BTW Casey, just because you're doing so well does NOT mean you can add Jack Daniels to your egg nog!! Ho-Ho-Ho!!)

  9. So good to see Casey looking less like the Pillsbury Doughgirl and more like the Casey we are use to seeing. Glad that swelling is going down.

Yes....that was me asking about the circulation things on the legs. My daughters friend that was involved in that four-wheeler accident a few years back had a severe head injury and concussion. They put those on her and she hated it. Hers were inflatable and it would inflate and deflate every so many minutes. She said it annoyed her. But they worry about blood clots in the legs when you can't get up and about much. How did Casey deal with them?

Punk must sense that things are going better. Dogs have mental connections to those they love.

You be careful trekking around in that snow and ice. I'll be back later to check on things here.

Tell Casey and Greg I said Hello!

  10. Sweet Thers!
I am already back- The roads are almost gone, Casey was darned tired, and then I broke my windshield wiper in two. (Good thing I told Casey I would come back when I could).

    Doesn't she look good?
So cool to be able to see her eyes!

    Love to you

    Woot is right!!!!

Now about the driving... It is about a mile to the hospital. Going to seem longer if Greg can't get to a car parts place if I have to walk it.
Good think I bought some new winter unders.

Greg is thinking about leaving on Monday instead- He is off anyway, and better to be safe than sorry.

    Love to you!

  13. Sweet RT!
I am so afraid to ask for anything more...
But yes, I sure hope that is exactly what it might mean!

I honestly did not expect her to be looking so well this morning! And what a huge sigh of relief and pride too.

The spots did not turn to anything bad. The pills worked fine enough and then sleep came real good to me too. (THAT was a welcome added bonus for me).
I figured at the very least that Punk would have woken me earlier- But then she hadn't really eaten so I guess she didn't have to go outside- Funny how that works?!?!

Casey cannot drink Jack because she is diabetic until those Islet Cells take hold and work.
And that could be six months to a year. But worth the wait if they work, right?

    Love to you!

I think she doesn't have black eyes as much as she is just SO very tired.
One time at Froedtert they didn't listen and had used paper tape for one of her surgeries to hold her eyes closed.
She woke with hives from her eyebrows down to her cheeks.

Now for the red socks... I forgot mine at home!

    Love to you both!

We were all happy when the NG tube came out.
The nurse tried to shoo me out, but I wasn't budging! hehehe

But now only to get the central line out- (That will be a while yet), and the catheter, and she will just keep on feeling better.

    Love to you

  20. She looks fantastic! I tell you, those pictures of her right after the surgery had me terribly worried. BUT NOW!! Just look at my little pin cushion! And to see her sitting up already (and helping with the leg wraps~which I really liked those when I had my surgery...relaxing!!)

Anyhoo~~~get some rest!! Take care my sweet friend! Ah, I cannot tell you the joy I feel for Miss CaseyFace (and I cannot imagine how you feel right now!!)

    All my love and prayers!!

  21. Sweet PeachieBaby!

I just kept squeezing her little knuckles today-
Still a bit puffy, but OH so much better than before.
(I was so frightened by that all).

Casey has worn those leggings many times. Hers are constantly inflating and deflating.
But never a complaint about them.
I think once you get used to it, it's just one of those things.
Now when I was in labor, those damn belts drove me nuts.
    I HATED THEM!
The only one I kept them on with was Roberta, and that because she was 7 1/2 weeks early.
    Frightening then too.

    Love to you!
And to thank you for the postings on Caseys surgery, and her progress too!

It is amazing the improvement you can already see. I am so excited for her.

We visited the lights at Clifton Mill last night and I got a reminder of Casey.

Now, I know she didnt have cancer but to see anything about a pancreas at a light show was taken as a reminder to pray for your girl :)

I do hope today brings a bunch more joy and recovery.

  43. Just checking in for any kind of update. Sorry you didn't get much sleep last night. I'm sure it's because of all the hustle and bustle of things going on there. Hope you get a wee bit of a nap today.

I wonder.....once Casey is on the mend, does this hospital allow animal visitors? Ya know they have proven that patients heal faster when they get visits from our little furry friends. Ya might wanna check that one out though I know it may be a while before they would even entertain that thought. Just an idea!!! I know how much Casey loves the Punkster!

  45. I have an idea!!!! Miss Anna, post just a pic of beautiful Christmas tree so we can all leave gifts of love and support for you, Casey and all the family!!! That would be fun and maybe when you are able to show Casey, it will put a HUGE smile on her face. Just a thought.

Some things, you DO take for granted, that you would never give a second thought about.
I think that Christmas tree idea doubtfire mentioned is a good idea... I thought about that too.
You should do that, it would be fun and would brighten Casey's face up! If Casey can't be home

PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT pray for anymore snow we are having a White Christmas, I've seen enough, had enough, and prayed that mom not send any more snow!!! (She would pray for blizzards that would stop all life in Wisconsin, she loved to be snowed in for days...when she died it stormed for 6 days, I was late for her wake, by 2 hours, it took 11 hours to go frome Menomonie to Green Bay by bus) so stop praying for more snow!!!! Think Spring, Think Spring!!

I guess my choice to saty here was good My girlfriend is out of state visiting her grandchildren, I'd been out in a snow bank! or staying in the movie theatre on that sticky floor!! hehehehe
