[My] Life in Wisconsin

Address and Pics Added 12-19-08 Pray. (Harder).

12-19-2008 010

After a very long and painful night, Casey's kidneys are not functioning too well; leaving her swollen like a very beautiful Pillsbury Doughboy.
Her temp is at 101.4.
Blood pressure in the 130's.
Heart rate in the 130's and 140's.
She is in/out of it. Maybe due to her pain meds.
Much earlier this morning she was taken down for an emergency ultrasound of her liver, duct system, and her kidneys. (Not knowing what to look for/at I have no idea what I was seeing on the screen there, or how it all turned out). They have yet to tell us.

Greg is with her now. Punk and I are waiting to hear something. Anything.

Having spoken to my sister Barbara- who in turn spoke to Dr. Rodney (her husband).
Of major importance is the fact that he was not too shocked by any of this- Thank you Barbara and Rodney.
He did say that her kidneys must begin working normally in the next two days.

That is all I know for now.
Please keep those prayers coming.

XOXO
Anne

  9. I am back at the hotel with The Punk...
This, after Casey told me to go back and get some rest! hehehe

    Here's the update...
    Everything is down- Just amazing.

    Her temp is at 99.9.
Blood pressure in the 110's and 120's.
Heart rate in the 100's and 110's.

    Her Ultrasound was just fine-
They will be giving her albumin to aid in her urine output.

At one point she spoke of Bono.
Another was a snake on her tummy.
Mostly though she is quite coherent- but only for short bursts- (moments), and then back to sleep.

The body heals best at rest so hopefully she can continue resting.
They will begin 'feeding' her intravenously tonight. And I believe those added calories will afford her better rest, but even more energy to heal.

But she sounds very good, and even tried to sit straight up. The doctor told her not to push it as she has about 5 layers of stitches between her muscles and her outside.

Greg knows all the scientific things-
How many islet cells they were able to extract- (which I DO know was MORE than they could even use)!

And the fact that she lost only 1/5th of the blood that most lose during this surgery.
And while it will be a full year before we know for sure how well those islet cells will actually work, I am thinking that she should be working quite well by then.

She says her pain is NOT pancreatic-ish- But more of the ouch type. (Thank God for that).

I thank God also (and yourselves) once more for all of your friendships.
You have all helped me so much here.
    Prayers for you all too.
    And my love...

    XOXO
    Me

  10. Good news Anne. Tell her Bono says hi as I talked to him a dream last night, or was it a stoopper (sic). You rest up as she'll need you're strength also.

  15. This.
In my email from Caseys friend...

    Hello Anna,
Please give Casey a hug for me and let her know that I'm thinking of her!

    "Casey is in my prayers.
From how I've seen her respond to everything that's happened to her, I can see that she is an incredibly strong woman, and I know that with God on her side, no matter what happens, He will take care of her and comfort her.
My favorite bible verse of all time is Jeremiah 29:11 :

"For I know the plans I have for you; plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

From the worlds perspective, this verse may not seem to apply to people in Casey' s situation. But in reality, God knows exactly what he is doing, and as I have seen and can witness to, He is the ultimate master of bringing great things out of horrible situations.
Bad things may happen to us that we can't control, but thankfully he's in charge of the one thing that matters most: our soul.

You're in my thoughts, Casey, and I want you to know that all my love and prayers are with you right now."

    Thanks Ann and God Bless,
    Stephan

  21. Disregard that request I sent you. I just got over here and saw you have already posted the address.

Anne I have yet to figure out what that is on her left shoulder. Is that an Ice pack or cold water pack or something? Is it something to help in the swelling or something for the weight over a certain area? Fill me in. I know what some things are but that is one thing I am not familiar with.

My daughter got one of those breathing contraption things that is laying there by Casey and Gregs hands. They send those home with you when you leave. You can imagine all the plastic bedpans and drinking cups and pitchers my mom collected!

Are they using the circulation booties on her feet and legs? I was wondering if they still do that when their is so much accumulated swelling.

It is soooooo good to see her eyes peeping out at us!
