[My] Life in Wisconsin

"Normal" For the Most Part...

  magnify
What the dickens is on this maple tree?!?
.
.

Good Morning...
The above picture is indicative of only one of my maples- About a 20 year old tree, growing next to a mulberry tree. Not sure what those "things" are that are on all the leaves...

Hope you have all had a grand week.
We have been busy.
Almost always a good thing, save for when my back goes nutty
. It has been spasming something fierce, those spasms knocking the wind out of me. But relief to know that if I do lose my breath that I will pass out and normal breathing always takes over then.
Feels like I fell flat on my back and got the wind knocked out.
Yes, (sorry) I will live. hehehe

I have tons of catching up to do once more...

Things are normal in Flintville...

Jenne steals (and stores), Isaiah's crayons,
and colors in his books...

Cnv0097

.
.
And so, Isaiah must find other things to do...
.
.

.
Cnv0121

.
.
Punk has no problem keeping him company on his little adventures.
.
.
Cnv0125
.
.
.
Sometimes Isaiah has to content himself as I sew. hehehe
I think I forgot how to sew properly. (It is NOT like riding a bike)!

.
.
.
Cnv0129
Notice the darn seam ripper!
.
.
Isaiah's dad, (Brad), took him to BayFest yesterday.
.
.
.
Cnv0108
He will come home this afternoon, so I don't know if he had fun or not.
I am going to say he had a grand time with all the rides
.
This picture was taken as they were setting it all up on Wednesday.
.
.
Casey too is more and more back to "normal" too hehehe
.
.
Cnv0099
That's my Casey.
(I believe she is sleepwalking)...
.
.
But she was more than wide awake by the time we got downtown
And quickly noticed the sassy graffiti on this train!
.
.
Cnv0105
That's just bad...
.
.
.
Punk apparently wanted a drink as we stopped for that train...
Guess she prefers the very local domestic brew from our Hinterland Brewery!
.
.
.
Cnv0102
.
.
Taking a walk the other day, and to see this little varmint sent Punk to chasing it, then trying to 'find' it below the hole it had run into.
.
.
Cnv0123
.
.
Jenne and Isaiah went to fill up that now much enlarged hole.
.
.
Cnv0127 .
.
.
And yes, Isaiah did help his Mama!
.
.
Cnv0128
.
.
.

The Wery's have been very busy in the fields-
.
.
Cnv0204

Grant has been out there since sunup this morning-
trying to cultivate the lowland dry so they can finish planting.
.
.
.
More rain is predicted for this afternoon. And so, with respect to another day of rest for my back, the mowing will just have to keep until tomorrow. (It is getting much too fuzzy out there for my tastes).
.
.
Cnv0192
Notice the grass fuzz by Isaiah's legs.

Even the height of the grass falls under "normal" this year.
sigh
.
.
.
Hope you all have a "wunnaful" weekend!
My love to all!

XOXO
Me

  1. They look like insect larval cases. Shouldn't pose a problem.

    Glad everyone is adapting well.

Hope your back continues to allow you to function (somewhat).

    Hugs from Usuns in KY

  2. Sweet Usuns;
    But what KIND of insects?
Probably more of those japanese beetles that try to be ladybugs.

My back actually does allow me to function, just damn hard to breathe, out.

Hugs right backatcha Sweetness! I have to get in the shower - Be right back... (I hope).

  3. I have to agree with the previous comment. It looks like some kind of insect eggs or something of that nature. If the leaves start dying or something, I'd get some kind of spray and spray the tree to get rid of it but I do think they are insect eggs of some kind.

Looks like ya'll are having fun up there in the northland. I, too, need to get out there and mow before the rain sets in for the next week but not sure I'll get there or not. Cee's not home to help and we all know what happened last weekend when I tried to do it myself...wasn't pretty....

Off to my errands now. Have a super day!

  4. Isaiah is too cute for his own good. LOL hope they have fun with the fair.

  5. Isaiah is cute isn't he? He must get it from his momma.

I am off to a beach party tonight with that friend I wrote about last weekend .. Hoping to have a good time ..

  7. I always enjoy the pictorial journeys through your life. it's great to see Casey out and about often and not looking like a walking corpse. When I see her pictures now, you don't see the exteme discomfort that she hid so well behind her beautiful facial expressions.
Hope Isaiah had a great time with his father. He looks to be happy at your place. And what a great lil helper too.
I am leaning towards insect eggs too. Japanese beetles come from grubs, which come from the ground so prolly not. I would have to say, what ever laid them there, laid them there for a reason (even butterfly's lave their larvae on specific plants). I'm sure your maple will become the major stable for this insects young life.
Keep taking care of your back.

  8. leaf gall ~~ unsightly but beyond the potential to lose some leaves it is largely harmless. Tiny mites that are invisble to the eye cause those LONG before you ever see the problem. Usually when the leaf is still in the bud.

Love the pics! (re sassy, some people have no respect).... Glad to see Casey motoring under her own steam and upright again!

Looks like Flintville is agreeing with EVERYONE!

  9. Oh, Swing by the extension service and take a peek in their "Ortho problem solver"....

it is page 307 in my edition. which is quite old... you might be able to see one at the library too.

That book has been my plant bible ever since I worked for the extension back in the day... BEFORE CASEY WAS EVEN BORN! Sheesh. Old.

  13. Hi Anne! I got my internet back on finally. Then had to shut off the computer so the storms could move through without destroying it. Had lots of lightening!

Casey looks wonderful! So good to see she is progressing in the right direction once again. And... is it just me, or has her hair grown a few inches?? Of course, she does usually wear it in a ponytail and I guess I was just not use to seeing it down to see the full length. I'm still debating over cutting or letting mine grow for the summer so I can do the ponytail thing. You know me and my hot flashes. Can't stand the hair touching my neck and that ponytail usually does the trick to prevent that.

Speaking of growing....Isaiah sure looks taller!
    And...where is Gabriel lately?

  14. Glad to see you & family share a great week, Anne. Sorry to hear about your back though. Hope you're feeling much better.

Thanks for giving us a peek through... Awesome pictures as always!
    Take care & big hugs!

  15. The picture of Punk looking at the brewery is perfect for Hinterland's next commercial: "Hinterland Beer - for the dog days of summer!"

Other than your poor back, everyone looks happy and healthy. I cashiered for 9 hours yesterday. I too know what back pain is!

  16. Sweet Cille;
I am just worried about that tree. It is a sister tree, left over from when I had planted all those maples on the Jaworski Road property.
And I'd wanted that mulberry down three years ago already- Randy refused to do that.
(I will blame it on the mulberry, then he will take it down). hehehe

My back, plain and simple, sucks.

  17. Sweet Pam;
I believe you are both right about insects/larvae. And I would love to spray all of my trees, especially the fruits, but it is not economically feasible if I do it the "green" way. And Lord knows I won't use the stuff from the Ag dept...

How hot is it by you? I don't do well with too many degrees over 80. But I sure am happy that it is going to be in the 70's all week! (Here)...

  18. Yes Sweet Athena- He IS a doll!.
And he got home very very tuckered out. So hed a great time.
That fest is put on by UWGB, and gets spendier every year- Brad said it cost $3.00 for one little kiddie ride.
    That's highway robbery...

I hope that when you wake today you are looking up at the ceiling and thinking what a marvelous time you had at that party!

  21. Whoops Sweet Oka, bite your tongue! hehehe
Casey has somehow lost 7 pounds since Tuesday, despite doing everything right...
She even stayed home from game last night, choosing to drive out here instead...

Glad you know about the Japanese beetles coming from grubs. I learn something new every day, and now I have to spray my ground too? hehehe
I will keep watching that tree though. It scares me when a tree gets sick.

  22. Sweet Pea;
I love the "largely harmless" bit. And ubelievable that those 'lil mites can do all that in a wee bud!
    Isn't nature wonderfilled?

Some of the graffiti people really should be artists- Others apparently need a cold shower.

  23. Well crap...
The extension office is way on the other side of town...

  26. Sweet Beep!

Of course those girls look great, they have my DNA. (Just don't look at me)!

Oh both Punk and Spitty are loving having Isaiah around, in addition to myself!
I don't even hear him most of the time... case in point, yesterday evening he got sent to his room. I asked Jenne where he was (we were in the same room and all).
She said she sent him up because he was being sassy.
And I hadn't heard a thing! Just because this living room is 30 feet long doesn't mean I wouldn't hear a child...
But he is ever so quiet like his mama was too.
    Smart too. Very very smart!

I shall give a peek shortly.
    I promise.
    I think.

  27. Holy crap Sweet PeachieBaby... Here I thought you were heading up north for a visit all this time!
    hehehe
Isn't it great how 'connected' we are to our little machines, and the wonders that fill them?!

Speaking of hair. There are days in summer that I am sweating even getting out of a tepid shower, and it gets worse when I put my hair up...

    Question!?
How come when my hair is short short short. (REALLY short), it lies flat and is great. And when it grows out it gets curly? Whoever heard of such a thing???

Gabriel is away this weekend with his whole new family, enjoying the whole weekend at the hotel with everyone. Kristin promised me pictures of his 'lifejacket' swim trunks too! (That is, IF she remembers the camera)! hehehe

  28. Oh Sweet Ruzie! I love my little pictures too! hehehe (And sometimes I love them even when they don't turn out)!

A bad back is the worst... next to the dang migraines. And even though I thought I would never say this, at least the migraines go away after a few days...

  29. Sweet Deb;
I don't know if Hinterland has a website or not. Maybe I could send it in then. hehehe

Do you even have anti~fatigue mats by your check out?
They do help. (Try a day without one if you don't think they do). hehehe

Get some real decent insoles, and use them- Either that or find some magnetized ones. Those are the most awesome I have ever used!

  33. you would have had to spray it a long time ago... back when the leaf buds were forming and there is no need they won't hurt your tree.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Great pics as usual!!!! Me, I have no theory on the stuff on the tree as I have the blackest thumb on the face of the earth and know nothing about trees at all except that I like them....

Glad to see Casey looking so good but worried about her losing so much weight but I am sure you are keeping an eye on all that.....

Also sorry about your back.....I hate the spasms.....When my siatic goes out the spasms have been known to make me fall....

    Much Love and Many Hugs.....

  36. Thank You Sweet Melody!
My thumb sure is black this year too...
You/We are right to be concerned about Casey's weight loss. She goes back to Minnesota early next month. Maybe there will be a reason offered that we can deal with...

The back spasms... If they were lower (and I have had them there too), they would not be so bad. I have never had them mid back like this- Must be where that st00pid fracture is. My toilet paper is behind to the left of the toilet, and it knocks the winds out of me to grab some.
It is now on top of the ledge in there.

I have come very close more than a few times- but so far (knock wood and teeth), I have been able to maintain balance and legs...

  39. We have the heavy rubber matts, the only problem is grocery stores are very dusty and when dust gets underneath the matt it tends to move around, so I'm constantly having to scoot it back in place. But, at least I have one!!
