- A hole in the cloud....

.
Good Evening All;
I am not sure I remember how to blog anymore... hehehe
I may have to apologize, in advance, to the good people of Ringle- I do not ever mean to offend, just having fun...
We are home from Minnesota once more- Highway 29 is the east/west route across central Wisconsin. I have always hated Highway 29.
When my sister Mary was married to her first husband, Paul Cotter, they lived in Apple Valley, Minnesota-
(A hop, skip, and a jump from Burnsville and The Mall of America). Not a shopper, I have never been there...
Anyway, my 3 oldest girls and I made the drive to Apple Valley many times- - I had an old AMC Hornet in those days, with a Standard "H" transmission.
The hills on 29 really tested this old car of mine, yet the Hornet never gave me any grief away from home; though it gave me plenty of troubles in its little spot in the parking lot. (Odd that way).
I ended up shooting that car. True story.
But I digress...
Highway 29 has changed a great deal in the past 25/30 years. it is now a 4 lane route to 94, and much much safer that way.
What was once called "Bloody 29" is now a decent flowing highway.
Maybe so.
Know that my freakin' back did not take the trip so well. CaseyAnne did most of the driving. After we had left her place on Tuesday morning, we got stopped by a train on Packerland Drive, not even out of Green Bay.- At that stop, we changed drivers. Punk thought it hilarious, (as I am sure a few other drivers around us did).
I joined the dog in the back seat.
Forgetting my Sobakawa at home, I used a roll of paper towel, covered with one of my t~shirts, for a pillow. Punk was then sent to the front seat, and I actually fell alseep! (Small miracle, that).
I resumed driving the last 90 or 100 miles. We did basically the same on the way home. Just that the drive back was a little rougher on my back.
Happy I had that appointment this morning. Unhappy that all that got done was a change in meds. Grrrrr.......
Scared I am, to take what he prescribed, so will just deal with it all from here on out.
(I hope to be able to do that anyway).
Suffice to say I have NO idea how Casey got through almost 4 years of intense pain. I admire her fiercely for that. She is brave. I am proud.
Her own doctor appointment went much better- Dr. Sutherland is amazed with her progress, and was elated to be able to tell her that she no longer should need her insulin.
HOW COOL IS THAT?!
I am ever so happy for her! And for him also. He even had to take a photo of his little success story- Said he keeps a board of everyone he has done this surgery on- (Since the late 70's that board must be pretty full)!
It doesn't matter what picture he has of her, because THIS is my favorite.

.
He said he will do about 60 of the TP/AIT and TP/ICT transplant surgeries this year; (which is almost the same as he did last year, by the way).
And so, it was a rough trip, but a very happy one too!
But it has changed SO much in the past 3 months..

.
Amazing what a little green assorted foliage will do....
.
.
.
Do you remember the truck Casey wanted for her own?
.
.
.
Looks quite green around there too!.
hehehe
.
.
And somebody even threw in a few trees!.
.
Remember the "maple syrple"???.
.
.
.
.
I think it's stored in big plastic vats now....
eeee~youoooo
.
.
.
.
.
Added to our favorite rest stop are a few bovines...
.
.
.
.
(They put a "C" on the 1st ones forehead so they know it's a "cow").
hehehe- .
By far, she is the most unique cow I have ever seen!
- Will be keeping an ear out for my weather radio to go off tonight as rain, and lots of it, (IF it comes) is predicted.
I hope this finds everyone well, and enjoying Summer.
Love to all!
XOXO

So glad to hear that the trip went well (sorry to that your back is still giving you hell though!)
ReplyDeleteWooHoo! on Casey not having to take insulin anymore! That is an AWESOME achievement!!!
Punk still looks out of sorts, hopefully she will be better soon too...
I wouldn't mind having the truck OR the cow... LOL! (I'm weird I know it!)
Hope you get to feeling better soon my friend!
Love Ya!
Slurkie :-)
*is amazed she was the first to comment*
ReplyDeleteLOL!
;-)
:P:P
That is a very unique cow, indeed. I, too, am glad that Casey's appointment went well.. hopefully her future appointments go just as well! Great that she is off insulin.. one less worry.
ReplyDeleteI hope your back feels better soon! And yes, Casey is brave. Much braver than I.
Nyk
Love the cow with a "C". Amazing how the brush makes it all look less cluttered.
ReplyDeleteWould love to here the story that drove you to shooting your vehicle.
I am so happy for Casey. I'm sure knocking one more thing (even insulin) lifetstyle will be a blessing.
I worry for you though.
How is Punk, is she getting out of her Funk?
I feel the same way about my living room TV right now. Only shooting it wouldn't be as satisfying as taking a baseball bat to it! I turn it on and it comes on when it feels like it - 20 minutes, an hour, or 2 or 3 hours later. I think it's possessed!
ReplyDeleteI just knew Casey would get a clean bill of health from Dr. Sutherland! Yea!! And it's wonderful that she can now go off insulin. What a girl!! (Wonder who she get's it from?)
What did your doctor prescribe for your back and why are you afraid of it? Whatever it is it's bound to be better than dealing with the pain.
Good `ol Ringle. It's nice to see it in a different season.
I bet the "C" stands for "Cool Cow!" You're very observant to notice it, I would've completely missed it if you hadn't have pointed it out.
I hope now that you're home you can get some rest and that your back starts to feel better.
Hi Mommy!!
ReplyDeleteYAY! For no insulin!!! I'm glad to be off of it, but a little cautious at the same time... He said to only check my blood sugars once a day, but I think that is too little!
The hole in the cloud is GREAT!!! Love the picture!!! You always do find the most unique things in every one of your pictures!!
Oh, and about PUNK asking "Are we there yet???" I seem to remember a voice in the backseat asking several times, "Mom?? Mom?? Are we there yet???" while I was driving... Aparently I wasn't supposed to say "No"?!?!? Hmmm... I have a lot to learn... Hee hee hee.... It was quite cute, though!
That's a cow with a capital "C"! hee hee hee... She was gorgeous! I loved her face... It was quite hilarious also that you got every single one of them to look at the camera by "moo~ing" at them!!! I've always done that to cows but none have ever looked at me.... :D That was great!
Well, since the enzyme "shit"~uation hasn't calmed down yet, I suppose I could head out there while I'm not stuck in the bathroom... I haven't had to deal with this issue since immediately after the surgery... :-( But I'm extremely THANKFUL because so many have this problem permanently after the surgery, so I'm lucky when it comes down to it...
As for the pain issue, I really didn't have a choice. You know that there were days that I broke down but at least for the most part I kept my sanity... It was HARD to do, especially when seeing everyone around me graduate, get jobs, get married while I sat in a hospital bed. I had YOU by my side, encouraging me everyday, and telling me "we WILL find a solution no matter what it takes..." and you did!!! You found me the doctor that saved my life... I don't think I would've dealt with everything so well if it wasn't for you being my ever compassionate and supportive mother!!! I just hope I can support you in the same way to get you through this back pain....
I love you MUCH MUCH!!

ReplyDeleteWell.. I know you are glad that gosh darned trip is over with. Glad to hear all is well with Miss Casey face!
ReplyDeleteRingle has been wrangled! Hehehehe! Either that greenery was a good cover-up or somebody went in there and did a little re-arranging! Probably a little of both, huh.
Thinking your Mom learned to talk to the cows when she was younger.
ReplyDeleteAnne's indian name was "Talks like cows"?
ReplyDeleteOh, and as a former 'sconsinite, I feel fully qualified to say this about that first picture...:

Not sure I know how to blog anymore either.. seems like the days are just flying by and I dont have time for diddly do!
ReplyDeleteIm so far behind here.. so I take it .. you made an appointment for yourself.. but you didnt like the meds they prescribed and now you arent gonna take it... hmmmmmmm
(long pause)
ok
Yeah on Casey doing so well! That is awesome! Now go get her a milk shake! hehe
Its funny when traveling you do find the spots you like to stop at .. and by golly thats where your gonna stop. I find that we do that too.
Trying to catch up a bit.. because tomorrow is gonna be busy busy busy all day!
Hugs
That was EXACTLY my thought. should I kick her or will you?
ReplyDeleteMaybe we all need to meet in Flintville and sneak up on her??
ReplyDeletehehehehe...
ReplyDeleteYahoo for Casey. I'm so happy for you all. Now you need to go see that Packers trainer for that back. You never know who you'd meet in the whirlpools.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteI know I will never be able to catch up on this all...
But know this:
This was the ultimate hoped-for end of her pain!
Being off of the insulin makes all the surgeries a HUGE success!
The miles. The snows. The below zero temps.
The extra surgeries.
(And even my own damned back).
Oh it makes it ALL worthwhile!
XOXO
Mama Me
So very proud of Casey's little islet cells that could!
