Limbaugh Says...

From here. (Do the click).

Rush Limbaugh claimed that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's proposed union-busting bill is designed to "save union jobs" from a budget crisis that would necessitate layoffs.
*In reality, the parts of the bill restricting collective bargaining would not affect Wisconsin's budget shortfall.

Limbaugh Denies Walker's Bill Is Anti-Union, Falsely Calls It "Budget Reform"

  • Limbaugh: "This Is Not Anti-Union Legislation, This Is Budget Reform."

Limbaugh Falsely Claims Walker Campaigned On Collective Bargaining Cut

  • Limbaugh: "It's What He Campaigned On."
    • From the February 23 edition of Limbaugh's radio show

  • PolitiFact: Walker Did Not Campaign On Budget Repair Plan.
    • On February 22, PolitiFact Wisconsin gave a "false" rating to Walker's claim that he campaigned on his budget proposals, including curtailing collective bargaining:

Gee kids-
If Rush says it's so, then it MUST be true, right? <--- That is sarcasm.

  2. Okay… First: here is the transcript of the video included along with the story you’ve linked from the site mediamatters.org…

Mommy, I figure you’ll enjoy this as I know that waiting for it to download on dial-up would be like waiting for the buns to rise in the bakery downtown! (We’re working on trying to find you faster internet by the way… :D )

Also, I know some of what he said is written neatly in the article, but I’ve included everything he said here, along with his verbal pauses**… (See note at bottom, after transcript)
So without further adieu, Rush Limbaugh ”The Rush Limbaugh Show” transcript created by me from video containing words from his radio show:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

From Madison, Wisconsin—Democrats kept the Wisconsin assembly up overnight with a droning filibuster in another desperate attempt to block the republican governor’s bold plan to strip public sector workers of nearly all their bargaining rights.

Oh wait-wait a minute now… We-we thought the Democrat Party hated filibusters. We thought they, um, despised filibusters. Oh, I-I get it! Unless they’re using them to fight civil rights legislation.

The debate marked the first moment in days in which in what has become a high-stakes game of political chicken between democrat lawmakers and Governor Scott Walker. It’s a funny kind of game of chicken… In reality, Governor Walker is trying to save union jobs here. And if his reforms fail, there will have to be lay-offs, possibly as soon as Friday.

It’s like gravity: it’s not a suggestion, it’s the law.

The governor says the bill is needed to help solve the state’s looming budget deficit but democrats see it as an all-out assault on unions their staunchest campaign ally. And by staunchest campaign ally they mean their paymaster and their defacto-bosses.

So note-note the headline of the story here, “Wisconsin Democrats Filibuster to Delay Anti-Union Bill” the-the-the-the stenographer here is Todd Richmond of the Associated Press. Mr. Richmond, uh, this is not ‘anti-union legislation’, this is ‘budget reform’ but you just couldn’t see fit to put that in your headline, could you? You couldn’t mention that in the story. Budget reform is what this is. That’s what this governor is charged with; it’s what he campaigned on; it’s what his job is. But why leave it out? Everything the democrats do is called ‘reform’.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

End of transcript… I figured I’d do this one as a separate post so that if people wanted to reply to something specifically said in the video script, they could do that… I’ll be right back with a few of my own words about this crap… Er—I mean “radio show words”…

On further thought, nope… I do mean CRAP! As in the stuff that comes out a bull’s back end!!!!

**Here’s more info on what are called “vocal pauses”—Vocal pauses are things like “um”, “and”, “er”, & the repetition of these or other words, or anything else done by the speaker that points to the fact that the he/she is stalling. Most people will have hundreds of vocal pauses in while performing a speech simply because they are nervous, and these hundreds can appear in as little of a speech as a one-paged document! Something I learned in Communications class in high school. We first memorized a speech, delivered it in front of the class, and three different people recorded the number of vocal pauses. (Three people prevents favoritism from taking place and also helps get an average because you can’t always catch them all…) We then had to do it all over again, paying attention to vocal pauses and doing everything to prevent them so that none were said. Each one said was a half-point off of your presentation’s grade, so

  3. DAMN STRAIGHT!!! **forgive my Old English…**

We can, will, and should do anything & everything in our power to fight those who are out to strip us of our RIGHT to speak for ourselves!

I don’t care if the person is a union worker, non-union worker, business owner, CEO, janitor or is unemployed, NO ONE should get stripped of his/her right to have at least some control over his/her career by having a voice to be heard. Not a single person should ever lose the right to speak up or speak out regarding his/her treatment by their employer or any other aspects of his/her career.

Does this mean I believe that they should all get what they want? No, and far from it… Outrageous attempts put forward by either the cleaning staff or as high up as the CEO that would not be wise financially or economically should be denied. With our economy no one person, no matter how vital to the company, should have erroneous requests met. Especially now, negotiations should be made in regards to the restructuring of funds to not only help the American businesses stay afloat but also to help the American people stay/get employed. What I’m saying is that I feel no matter how crazy someone’s concerns, comments, suggestions or requests regarding their job are, he/she should always have the right to speak up for him-/herself and also he/she should be heard. The higher-ups and fellow workers should then pool their brains together and they should decide what should be done, but the key here is that Americans should be entitled to a voice when it comes to their professions. The thought of taking that right away just baffles me. How can anyone agree to silence hundreds, thousands, etc., of Americans??

What really gets me is that the public sector workers agreed to every single financial change that Governor Scott Walker requested of them (i.e.: paying a higher percentage of their health-care premiums so that cost doesn’t fall on others, etc.). They agreed to every single fiscal change, right down to the last penny he wants squeezed from these people’s paychecks. Some of the workers he is complaining about, saying it’s because of them that our state is in a deficit, are professions that not only are underpaid and under-appreciated already, but whose jobs are such a solid integral part of our society. Yet they all agreed… They agreed to everything…

Everything, that was, except agreeing to give up their collective bargaining rights…

If Walker really was so emphatically worried about the budget, if the financial security of WI was his ultimate and true concern, then he’d have taken this offer in a heartbeat. Yet he didn’t… He refused to take what these workers were selflessly agreeing to…

This really makes me so nervous and fearful of this man’s true goals and his true nature. This same man conveniently refused to discuss his plans for WI legislature while he was running as a candidate for governor. (I guess the “Elect DICTATOR Scott Walker for governor! OR ELSE!!!!!” platform was not chosen for him for some reason… Should have been, at least he would’ve been a bit more forthcoming about his plans for turning our wonderful citizens into working robots all programmed at his hand… But I digress… Yes, this is taking it a bit far, but think about it… Is calling him a “dictator” really that far from reality?? Is what he wants to do really the type of goals typical of a democracy???) Obviously he just gave up one of his true motives by denying the public sector workers’ financial offers: that he is NOT ultimately concerned with passing the bill quickly to correct WI budget, instead his primary goal (proven to be his only goal when he denied their offer) is to pass the bill quickly to end public sector workers’ collective bargaining rights. RIGHTS!!! We’re the Unite
