**ORIGINAL LINK REPAIRED** - Conservative Cruelty and Fake Foreclosures.

Mock eviction Notice from here.

Good Morning All;
Why is it that "Koch", "Conservative" and "Cruelty" seem to hand in hand in hand?

What if your elderly Mom and Dad had received one of these?

Have a wunnaful weekend!
XOXO
Me

"
Fake foreclosure notices panic some Detroit residents"

A conservative group is refusing to apologize for plastering Detroit homes with phony eviction notices earlier this week in a bid to get out their message of opposition to a proposed bridge project.

"It was meant to startle people," Americans for Prosperity state director Scott Hagerstrom told The Detroit Free Press."We really wanted people to take notice. This is the time that their opinions need to be heard. We wanted people to read it." One of the group's founders is billionaire Koch Industries executive vice President David Koch, and the organization has played a prominent role in organizing tea party and conservative events.

The flyers said "EVICTION NOTICE" in big block letters and then warned residents that the state of Michigan could take their homes to make way for a new proposed bridge to Canada, the New International Trade Crossing bridge.

Some residents were panicked, though it's unclear how many actually believed the flyer. "I thought they were trying to kick us all out for nothing," resident Juan Ybarra told Fox Detroit.

Republican donor Manuel (Matty) Moroun is lobbying against the proposed bridge because it would siphon traffic and tolls from his privately owned Ambassador bridge that traverses the same span between Detroit and Ottawa. Moroun would like a second bridge--but one that he would own.

Moroun's company told the Free Press that it had nothing to do with the fake eviction notices, though Americans for Prosperity's Hagerstrom would not reveal if the group has received money from the bridge company to help fund its anti-public bridge campaign.

It's true that "several" residents of Detroit would lose their homes under eminent domain if the bridge does get built, according to MLive. They would be compensated 125 percent of the homes' value. Democratic State Senator Coleman Young II told Fox Detroit that the people whose homes would be seized if the proposal passes have been told already.

  1. I tried to read this with an open mind and a sharp eye and here's a big discrepancy I noted. . . . . The title of the article says 'Fake Foreclosure Notices' but the body of the article says "Eviction Notices'. Therefore the piece is intentionally misleading.

  2. Personally I think scare tactics are an unfair way to get ones point across Anna, what a shock it must have been to receive one of these notices in the first place, the stress and illnesses it must have caused. I would not have stood for it and would have made my feelings on the matter heard very well indeed.

Should I be surprised that there are no online comments about this ?

The Takings Clause, the last clause of the Fifth Amendment, limits the power of eminent domain by requiring that "just compensation" be paid if private property is taken for public use.
American courts have held that the proper measure of "just compensation" is "fair market value," i.e., the price that a willing but un pressured buyer would pay a willing but " Unpressured seller " for the subject property, with both parties fully informed of the property's good and bad features.
And just who does it take to decide this ? I mean I would want the true value for my "home " not the value that some public servant say's I get.
The Government could wait for times such as now, when the economy and is in such bad shape to use the "Eminent Domain" clause to purchase properties that may not be needed for another 20 - 50 years or so thus taking away from the holder the true value of their property.
The owner of the property that is taken by the government must be justly compensated.
Bully Tactics as far as far as I can see and people should be concerned.

  3. Ernest;
I am not quite sure what you are saying...
I saw nothing misleading about it, even with your explanation
Either way, (whether rented or owned), someone is virtually kicked out of their home.
Granted the foreclosure comes first- Generally I believe there is a certain amount of time between being served and having to be removed from your home.

    Google it.
I don't have the time nor the patience to split hairs over words that everyone should know what they mean.

    Thank you for stopping by.

    XOXO
    Anne

  4. I see I should have saved that last bit for replying to your first paragraph...

I had to laugh at the definition of eminent domain.
In my Dad's case, the county/state had to reimburse him for the farmland they needed to widen the road.
They took 4 acres in 1967, and he refused to cash the check.
When he died in 1984, we ran across that same check in some of his financial papers, where it had sat for 20 odd years.
Our attorney was able to contact the agency that had issued the check- AND, with interest and all else that measly $600.00 check was worth almost 4K.

Anyway Mr Lester, you are correct. It is bully tactics all around. To use the words in BOLD BLACK LARGE FONT- and to have the explanation in smaller font must have scared some people half to death.

It is also cruel and frightening. That is is also a farce is almost unspeakable!

THEN, they try to mollycoddle the recipients with this:
    http://www.mlive.com/news/detroit/index.ssf/2011/06/americans_for_prosperity_deny.html
    I don't think so!!!!

I believe Americans for Prosperity is a "gimme" "greedy" excuse of a somewhat powerful "front" for the Koch Brothers. (They have made no assertions to the contrary in ANY of the missives I have received from them either).
*** Now before you choke on that piece of info, please know that I do receive their emails and such-
    . . . "Better to know thine enemy" as it is written- - - - (And as I believe). - - hehehe

You are also correct in saying that we SHOULD BE CONCERNED!
From your keyboard to Gods heart.

    XOXO
