[My] Life in Wisconsin

A very Unique, and 'Green' Idea for Power Outages.

Received via my email from Mr. Duane.
Thanks Duane- This is very cool!

XOXO,
Me

Due to a thunderstorm, we lost power for about 5 hours.
We were scrambling around in the darkness, looking for matches, candles, flashlights, etc.
We looked outside, and noticed our solar lights shining brightly all around our patio, stairs, dock, etc.
They were beautiful. My wife walked outside, and brought several of the solar lights inside.

We stuck the solar light pipes into plastic drink bottles containers and they made the nicest, brightest, safest, lighting you could ever imagine.

We put one in the bathroom, the kitchen, the living room, etc.
There was plenty of light.

There are all types of solar lights available. We bought ours at Harbor Freight.
We put them all around our yard. They look nice and they do not attract flying bugs like the outdoor lights around our doorway.

The lights we have fit into the small (20 oz) water bottles and they also fit into most of the larger liter bottles. If you need a weight in the plastic bottle to keep them from tipping over, you can put a few of the pretty colorful "flat marbles" that they put in aquariums, and vases. (you can also use sand, aquarium gravel, etc., whatever you have available).

The lights we have were perfect inside our home. They burn all night long if you need them.

The next day, you just take your solar lights back outside and they will instantly recharge and be ready for you to use again any time you need them.

Perfect for power outages, hurricanes, etc. and you don't need batteries or a special place to store them.

I never thought of it and you don't have to: cuz here it is.

 hehehe

Now how is that for a fantastic and GREEN idea?!

  1. note to self-

I absolutely MUST get some of these lights!!!
    hehehe

Truth be known I have always overlooked them- even when I was working at the Implement.
Not spendy- and definitely a nice addition to any yard.

  3. That is a great idea Mr. Duane,
I have lots of them Anna, oh minus three of course we have most things running on solar here as you well know, inside and outside. If by chance one lives in England and Scotland and you don't ever get to see or perhaps even know what the Sun is then those El cheapo candles that take the small AAA batteries and last for months on end throw out sufficient light to light a room, personally I use them in the bathroom when having a bath and always at night for soft lightening any room. Anna our solar is all paid for now and the Power Co: even owes us money now ( Love it ). LMBO

Good ideas there Mr. Duane it pays to save where ever one can and it always pays to be prepared for any situation.
    As I have always said

    P.P.P.P.P.P.

  6. I picked up a couple for the area around our front door. 2 of them just to help see where to walk..and one that I can adjust to shine on our front door( I'm bad about forgetting to cut the outside light on when we leave..or just not thinking we'll be gone that long..lol)
2 of them I only paid a $1 a piece for just after the 4th of July..they have stars and stripes in red, white and blue..no problem. The other is a a gray color..blends in well...I paid a little more for it maybe $4. They are very handy to have around...as they have helped several friends not trip on their way out.
