[My] Life in Wisconsin

Spent all day at the hospital with CaseyAnne- She is [now] being treated for C-Diff; although the tests won't be back until Monday. He felt there were more than enough signals that couldn't be ignored. He also firmly believes that she has the stomach flu virus as well. Good grief. All this and no spleen. Yes, we went to a different hospital. (She is way too bright to go back to where the Dr refused to collaborate with Minnesota). Love to all. Will blog later, or tomorrow, or... XOXO, Me

  2. USA Today
"Deaths and illnesses are much higher than reports have shown. In March, the CDC said in a report that the infection kills 14,000 people a year. But that estimate is based on death certificates, which often don't list the infection when patients die from complications."

    and

Hospital billing data collected by the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality shows that more than 9% of C. diff-related hospitalizations end in death — nearly five times the rate for other hospital stays. That adds up to more than 30,000 fatalities among the 347,000 C. diff hospitalizations in 2010. Thousands more patients are treated in nursing homes, clinics and doctors' offices.
"We're talking in the range of close to 500,000 total cases a year," says Cliff McDonald, a C. diff expert and senior science adviser in the CDC's Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion. And annual fatalities "may well be … as high as 30,000."

  3. More than a few patients had it when she had her pancreas removed too.
And she was in the hospital a month.
I can't remember if she was treated as a precaution or not. (It was a long month.

    Thank you for stopping by.
    Have a good weekend!

Prayers for you too, Annie for your own health, and having to deal with everything.
I know you must be a nervous wreck, but are a very strong woman.

  9. I know how you feel Anne.

Even half an hour of someone worrying for me would be a blessing.

  10. Again I thank you all.

    I spoke to Casey Saturday-
She said that after taking those pills (Flagyl-http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0000888/) only 3 times, she IS feeling better-
She even sounded better. (And she has not sounded good for a while).

  15. AND, at some point she will be bringing me out some kind of "thingie" that will allow the other computer to get back online.

    I can't wait.
My computer hates Multiply I guess.
That's OK, I hate my computer. So it all comes full circle. It is SO slow and shuts me down about 10 times every morning...
Until I give up that is.

But that will wait until she is up to the drive.

    XOXO

  16. Oh, Sissy,

I knew I had not been around here much and this note proves how little it's been. I am so sorry to hear she's been so ill again. My heart breaks for both of you. You know you have my love, HUGS and prayers.
