    Happy Birthday, Dear Mary Jane

May the Dear Lord Bless You!

May the Dear Lord Bless You!

May the Dear Lord Bless MJ

May the Dear Lord Bless You!

    ***************

I wrote that in blue because blue is Marys most favorite color... (But I am thinking PURPLE is getting to be more in fashion for a girl of her now advanced years)!!! hehehe

Oh what memories the pictures inspire~ Since I have only a few old albums downstairs, I have only a few pictures of us together right now...

I am thinking she would hunt me down and kill me if I posted yearbook pictures... so I won't. ...(Not today anyway)!

Mary and I; on Grandma Yusvaks old chaisse lounge...
    .
    .
    .

The caption that Mom had written on the back of the photo reads as follows: "Big Joke- Anne has doll hair in her mouth-"

Yes, I had ripped the doll hair off its head for Petes sake... I am wondering why I did that? (Maybe it might have been all the screeching behind me)!?!? hehehe

    .

    .

    .

Myself and Mary; on the old swingset... On my 2nd Birthday
    .
    .
    .

Moms caption: " "OUTSIDE"- Anne's most popular word- 2 years old today- Bees out. She likes to swing; but gets dizzy on this one!"

We had the swingset- SO COOL we were, with that contraption in the back yard. The swings, the teeter~totter, and the slide! And yes, Mom and Dad put out the $$ for the swingset before they ever thought of buying a TV...

Oh yes, we surely had the bestest Mom and Dad in the Whole World!

We were always playing outside. We thought we had it made in the shade! (Oh wait, we DID)! That slide was the greatest one ever made; except in the sunshine, (and when a body went off the side instead of down the darned thing)! And yeah, Mary and I did that LOTS of times...

The swingset pipes were made of a hollow metal; (tin?), and through our littler years, the legs would come out of the ground as we pumped on the swings~ And the whole set would threaten to completely tip over on us... And little by little the metal kinda fell apart too... I remember Pa took it down right before we each got our own treehouses in our own apple trees! I think we were about 6 and 8 then, (give or take a year or so)... How many little kids can say they have their own apple trees anyway???

We 'helped' Mom immensely I am sure... and I wish she was still here and could relate all of her stories to you. She would be the best blogger around too. The lady could write so very well...

Here we are, Mary and I after "helping" Mom with a little harvest! This photo is dated October 1960... Mom always used to ell me that if I had been dressed in orange that no one would have known I was even there! (I think she was calling me 'pudge' in her own very nice way)!

    .

    .

    .

Mary and I... (even in this photo you can see the determination on her face. That same fierce determination that makes her a breast cancer survivor today)!

    .

    .

    .

Moms caption for the above photo reads: hehehe "Our two cherubs- Soaking up Oct.'s sunshine- and our harvest. The pumpkins have been shared all around and getting to be a much smaller pile." ...Awwww see, we WERE angels! (I KNEW it all along)!

I think I shall do a bit more reminiscing throughout a few coming blogs. It is so cold outside and doing so will keep us all warm!

    Have a wonderful day!!!

  • And Mary, I hope you have the very bestest birthday ever!

    XOXO

  • In Search of Nicknames and Heat!

    Good Morning All;

You are probably asking why on earth I have posted a picture of one of my rained~on tulips from last year? It is just in the hope that spring (bringing its warmth) will arrive soon. Being that Berta had her surgery on Groundhog Day, I do not even know if the darned groundhog saw his shadow or not?

While it is only a mere SIX BELOW Zero right now, I am finding it a bit hard to warm up this morning; (despite the fact that I am quite warmly dressed AND even have a blanket over my chair)... I have long since given up the fight to keep the heat down on the inside here, and now have it set to about 70... (well almost anyway).

Roberta took this picture of Me~N~Punkie...

Punk had been asleep on the couch, whimpering a bit; and I'd laid down by her. I think Berta and CaseyAnne will be surprised that I am actually posting it! But I have posted worse pictures, and well, who the heck cares anyway?! Besides, the worse I look on here, the better ALL of my friends feel about themselves! (I am just happy then to have done my part)! hehehe

    .

    .

    .

Guess Miss Punk woke up a bit when Berta took the picture~ (clearly I did not)...

    .

    .

    .

Punk is a wee bit better this morning... Hasn't cried out once in her sleep since I have been awake; but the ear infection, (in combination with those "ooky" ear drops), surely does affect her hearing. Her medication is called MalOtic, by Vedco... Have any of you used this on your own pets with success? I see that a few of you have also dealt with persistent doggie ear infections. I hope this does not become this way for my little Punkin... Any pointers you could offer would be MOST appreciated.

I have to go back in for a recheck on my thyroid today, so will keep this shorter then... And then maybe I can still get around to your own blogs. I DO keep trying. Forgive me for being so crappy at this as of late. Hope you can/will all understand. I surely do not even have an excuse, given the fact that we have all been kind of "grounded" on the inside, by Mother Nature herself. (Of course, I COULD blame Berta for being on her own 360)! hehehe

But I do know for certain that I do not have an excuse like my friend Miss Jennifer either. She is awaiting her own medical diagnosis on some real scary issues. Perhaps you would all drop by her page and just let her know you are ALL praying for her... CLICK HERE for her blogsite.

...Oh, and I did tell her that I, without question, have THE MOST inspiring friends in this entire 360 World ... and that you would always have the time to offer up your own hearts and prayers for others. ***In all truth, I do believe that is how MANY of you, my friends, have come to me. I thank you, once more, for all the support, kinship and prayers for when my own daughters were undiagnosed, ill and needed their surgeries. Please also extend your hearts to Jennifer.

    Must fly for now!

    Have a Fan~Dang~Tastic Wednesday!

    XOXO

Another Frigid Good Morning From The Frozen Few in Flintville, Wisconsin!

It seems to be that all is well here. It is 13 Below Zero this morning... (Sorry, I lied, it is only 12.6 degrees below)... Hmmmm, What a sly liar I am eh? hehehe

I did get to the dentist yesterday... and 'knock on wood', the car ran just fine. People just have to remember not to be pushing their luck and thinking that a car can operate as these temps as well as it can if the temps were between about +30 and +80. And to never jump on that foot feed if it is colder or hotter than those temps. I saw more than a few stranded and abandoned vehicles on the side of the road... Most were the smaller variety- 4 cylinders... (Somebody forgot NOT to tromp on their accelerators). I saw no semis that had gelled up. But I saw on the news that there were many MANY calls for service on those same tractors...

The dentists office was busy, (and unfortunately everybody showed up for their appointments or else I would have stuck around for that root canal I need)... Oh well. But I am on the 'call' list for broken appointments, so perhaps I will not need to be waiting so long to get in.

That dentist (really) is so nice... giving me all that gas to calm me down... "la~la~la~la~la" ...Except for the needle, I didn't feel a thing, even though it was just a 'surface rust' cavity that he filled. He said my 'mouf' is healing exactly as it should... (And I don't care what he says anymore, no one should have to pull bone fragments out from any part of their body, at any point in time, nor for any reason)! Still, it is SO much better than it was even a month ago.

Unfortunately I cannot say the same for my little Miss Punk. Since Saturday when she woke up and shook her head for the better part of an hour, I have cleaned her ears, spotless; and put her drops in to cleanse them a bit more too. But when I got back from the dentist, I thought maybe I would call the vet. She just wasn't herself... (And while I DO want for her to calm down a bit, this just was not the right way to accomplish that). I told them I thought that maybe she had an ear infection; would he have time to see her? Janine scheduled us promptly for 45 minutes later. A short ride there, and then to have Master Gabriel "casing the joint" He literally checked each door, and because it was chilly, just kept moving around.

They BOTH got weighed. Punkie is a FAT 87.5 pounds; and Gabriel weighed in at a very skinny 25.1 pounds! (Why does "Jack Sprat" come to mind)?!?

    .

    .

    .

    ...........
So fun to watch him always!
    .
    .

While Gabriel strolled around, Miss Punk waited patiently for the doctor. She was watching Gabriel too!

    .

    .

    .

Look at her eyes; you can see she isn't the same perky pup she generally is.
    .
    .
    .

She cried when Dr. Spires looked in her ears with his "ear~looker~thingie" ... And she hated it even more when he used the stronger stuff in her ears too... I have medication to be putting in them now, and they should clear up in a few days. Her ears are both infected. I knew it wasn't ear mites- Just not the right stuff to be cleaning out of her ears for mites.

I asked him if she was contagious to Miss Milly, and he said no. He said all dogs have the bacteria in their ears to begin with, but generally they do not have a problem unless they get water in their ears. I have not bathed Punk since the beginning of January- (Takes too long for her to dry completely and safely once the temps went down)... I told him she had been in the river on New Year Day... He said no, that it was too long before; that the infection will show up after about a week or two...

    ...He then asked about snow?

Yup. Remember the pictures of her and Miss Milly burying their heads in the snow? *If you don't remember, please CLICK HERE .* (Heck, I didn't know... I thought it was just freakin' funny)! And now to feel so badly for her-
    .

    .

    .

Please don't let your dogs do this!
    .
    .
    .

Poor little girl... And yes, she is whimpering every now and then in her sleep... and crying out every so often... So sad. I noticed too, how very closely she was looking at me after I had put the drops in her ears, and it occured to me that she couldn't hear, or barely at all... She just kept looking at my face as though she would miss something.

I'd better get busy with my day here... Punkie is still asleep on the couch, Milly in the entrance... Not too bad of a windchill today- and the ACTUAL (real) temperature should be a few degrees above zero! YAY! And maybe (if we are really lucky), we should be in the teens for the weekend! We shall be having a 'heat~wave' then!

Break out the rubber rafts and the ski~doos!!!

    XOXO
    Anne

    SIXTEEN BELOW ZERO!

    Good Morning All;

Yup. Sixteen below this morning... The windchill here is only a negative 39 degrees...

Once again to say that I hope everyone is safe and warm... And to please check on those that live alone, and have no place else to go.

My electricity, furnace, and water are all still working quite well. And I feel luckier than some in that respect. I sure wish I had a fireplace or a woodstove right now though... (Know that I am in complete envy of those of you that DO have these things)!

These are the days and nights that my "Amos" Kitty would actually crawl UNDER the sheets and snuggle up close... He would also crawl under any blanket that I would use while sitting downstairs... That is him, ABOVE... in his glory days... And yes, I miss the heck out of him...

The closest I got to spending any time outside yesterday was to start the Buick Rendezvous... and that, only to ensure that we CAN get out if need be.

Funny "Story~Time" about going out there to start it too...

I opened the door between the house and the garage, and see this on the floor/doormat...

    .

    .

    .

    PUKE???

    .

    .

    .

But I haven't barfed since Saturday!?! (True, my damnable head struck again). And besides, I surely did not barf out in the garage... Gingerly stepping over it in my booties, I see my car...

    .

    .

    .

    .

YOKES!!!... (and I know NOW that clearly it is time for the WTF question)...

    .

    .

    .

Looking around, I finally espy what did the barfing ALL OVER my entrance mat and door, the garage, my car, the walls, etc etc etc...

    .

    .

    .

    .

And yes, I had to laugh out loud at my own stupidity too!

    .

    .

    .

    .

Am happy that I have the cedar "casket" (as I call the huge storage box out there), covered with an old rug... (And I will clean up that mess as soon as I get back from my dentist appointment today). CaseyAnne asked why I was going back in to the DDS, and I told her I was 'going to have the rest of my teeth pulled' ...(I only WISH I had the camera then ...to capture the look on her face)! hehehe

No, it is just a recheck to find out why I am still pulling bone fragments from my mouth, and why the danged thing still hurts (not too badly anymore), after almost 2 months??? Makes NO sense to me...

Yesterday morning, Roberta chose the proverbial 'short straw', and went to go get the mails and papers from Saturday/Sunday! In her PJ's and with a down~filled coat and a wool hat, boots etc... (and still was frozen solid by the time she got back from her 'walk' up/down the driveway and across the road)... Since she cannot 'run' across the road, she had to wait patiently to cross. (I think church had just let out). I watched (what I could) from the "Jack Frost" windowpanes in the living room, and through the thick pines out front...

Here she is back at the house!

    .

    .

    .

D'ya think a single strand of pearls would have been "too much" for her ensemble?
    .

    .

    .

    .

The dogs you ask? Holy terrors in my house!!! But cute too, and I cannot help but laugh at their innocence too. After completely destroying what protection I had covered my couch with, they looked at me, so VERY innocently... with their looks that said...

    .

    .

    .

No, honestly, it wasn't US! (yeah right)!
    .

    .

    .

    .

When Casey and Derek got here for the game, she played with the dogs... Trying to balance the fought~after toy on Punkies nose... (Derek and Miss Milly watching in the background)...

    .

    .

Punk gets a bit cross~eyed, trying to stay ever so still...
    .

    .

But WAIT, she does, ultimately "pin" Casey in the wrestling match that ensued.

    .

    .

    1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10! Punkin IS the WINNER!!!.
    .
    .
    .

Oh, please do NOT be looking at my somewhat disheveled home... Just look at the pictures, OK?

For now though, I had better get a move on if I am to be to the danged dentist in another hour!

Have a warm day... (if that is possible where you are)!

    XOXO
    Anne

PS This, just in my inbox... I am seeing that ALL schools in NE Wisconsin are closed today. Thank God for the safety of all of our children. And yes, Master Gabriel is HOME too... But will leave THAT for Roberta to be blogging about!!!

    Good Morning!

I do hope everyone is well, warm, and safe.

My forecast page opened with a warning today too: "WIND CHILLS TO 35 BELOW ZERO WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE REGION THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. WIND CHILLS THIS LOW CAN CAUSE FROSTBITE IN 15 TO 20 MINUTES. ALTHOUGH WIND CHILL READINGS WILL EASE THIS AFTERNOON...THEY ARE EXPECTED TO FALL BACK TO VERY LOW LEVELS AGAIN TONIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING."

I even put the garbage bag just outside the doorway... I will get to that later; along with starting all the cars and letting them run long enough to get warmed up...

I'd gotten bad frostbite one year on the outside of my index finger and the inside of my thumb trying to start a car in these temps. I'd had a test to take at UWGB and did not want to miss it. Yes, I cranked on that car til the key turner was practically frozen to my thumb/forefinger. It didn't start, and I'd ended up calling a taxi... But anyway, the frostbite did not 'surface' til about 3 weeks later; and when all the dead skin wore off then, I looked like a leper for the remainder of the winter! (And yes, this happened THROUGH the gloves I was wearing)!

Miss Roberta is doing very well, and actually barely even napped yesterday; (which is in direct opposition to what her mother did)! But what a grand nap I had too! I do not have the heat on in my bedroom upstairs... (yet); and usually CAN get away with not turning it on all winter... just because of the waterbed in there, and the fact that enough heat does rise up the stairwell. (Besides, I sleep better when my surroundings are a bit cooler). I know a lady that, year~round, sleeps with her window cracked open; yes, even in this weather. I promise you that I do not need it THAT much cooler!

Roberta used her own little peaceful time to be updating her own blog. She does not yet have a computer at home, so needs to use the one here... CLICK HERE for her news!

Berta, saltines, and a begging puppy!
    .
    .
    .

The dogs have been out already... (And have proudly broken their previous records of the time it takes them to go potty and return to the door)! Miss Milly is asleep on the thick doggie~pillow in the entrance, and Miss Punk is sleeping on the couch. For now. (It is much like when my own girls were little; knowing that this "peace" lasts only so long)...

Did some baking and cooking yesterday... More banana biscotti for the dogs, and a whole pot of chili to warm our bones too! Along with a bit of garlic cheese bread...

    .

    .

    .

    Oh it was GOOD!
    .
    .
    .

I didn't care to be digging around in the freezer too long, and so used some elk meat for this pot of yum... And since I am a ditz when it comes to shopping, I'd grabbed the wrong item for sour cream the other day. It is french onion dip... (And yes, if you are wondering if it is as yummy on the chili as sour cream, it is almost divine)!

Casey stopped in to eat with us too... And brought along Valentine gifts for everyone! What a Sweetheart she is!

    .

    .

    .

    He IS on the feeder...
    .
    .
    .

I took that picture yesterday morning, trying to get the little squirrel on the birdfeeder, but my camera is not that good... By the time I'd opened the window to get a better shot than this one; he'd jumped off that feeder, and ran like heck to the safety of the pines...

I think I'd better close for now and get my backside in the shower. I will hunt down a sweater or two out in the old shed from the rummage sales stuff. I have ONE decent old one that actually covers my butt... (And yes, that is very important right about now)! hehehe

    ...And life goes on!

    Have a SUPER SUPER day!!!

    Below Zero, and Kickin'

First and most importantly at this moment in time is to say that I hope everyone in Florida is safe after the massive storms and tornadoes...

    Good Morning to all...

Nasty, nasty weather we seem to be having; and I have been up for a few hours already, all seems to be well with the world here, even though it is chilly. Yes, I have my heat on, and yes, I even opened the vents to the upstairs... I do not heat up there unless I absolutely HAVE TO... And given the fact that I snatched Roberta home from the hospital late yesterday, I think that is reason enough to be turning the heat on upstairs too!

Her echocardiogram came back alright, and once that was said, I asked the doctor WHEN I could take her home. The Dr. replied, "tonight, or tomorrow morning." Hearing that, I opted for last night because of the weather only. I asked the Dr. to reassure me that she is well and strong; and she said, "absolutely" and that I should have no problems whatsoever. Once we were home, I actually fell to sleep before Berta... (I have a vague recollection of Casey and Derek stopping by, but do not remember them leaving either). And the phone just kept on ringing... I didn't much care about that either. Just nice that everybody calls for her.

I had taken the photo below when Roberta was admitted prior to her surgery...

    .
    .

And this one just yesterday after her echo, and after they had removed all of the wires and such that were attached to her body all over...

    .

    Berta. (Sleeping pretty)...
    .
    .
    .

She said the echocardiogram, which is usually a completely painless procedure,(CLICK HERE for more info on it); actually hurt like hell... Guess that's only because they were beating on her chest for 20 minutes 48 hours prior to the echo... Her ribs hurt now she says, but not near as bad as her tummy, but it depends on her positioning too. They sent me with 2 prescriptions for her- One for pain and one for nausea. One always heals faster, physically AND mentally, at home and not in some hospital ward.

    .

    .

    .

And looking back there were more than a few things, that in retrospect were actually really funny... The first coming just yesterday, Roberta was asleep and I was just sitting in her room reading the hewspaper. (Read it twice, I might add). She had been so very quiet, and then giggled herself awake.

And at home for a few minutes to let the dogs out, and while Berta was in recovery, Casey went to go let the sassy dogs back inside and they were GONE! We both go flying outside without hats or gloves even, hollering and yelling for them... (Since my greatest fear is to have them get hit on the road, I ran straight down the driveway and out to the road). Meanwhile Casey is hollering that they are in fact ACROSS THE ROAD!

The speed limit here is 45 and it goes to 55 right after the bend... This generally means that drivers are doing about 75. (I do take my life in my hands to cross the road to get my mail).

Now try to picture all of this, if you can...

...Knowing full well that drivers should see me before seeing two white dogs in the snow~filled ditches, I take off running straight down the middle of the road... (Punkie had already responded to Caseys voice behind the house and was running back to her)... A car coming down the hill, and one from around the bend, and I am still hollering at Miss Milly; (who had seen me by then, but was just moseying her way back to me). But she was still on the wrong side of the road, and had to cross back. At about that very same time, Punk hears MY voice and decides she should go to me then... So we all meet sort of in the middle, and I am literally dragging these 2 beasts, (and myself), out of harms way... I am sure (now) that it was even quite funny to the vehicles that had seen it... But while it was happening, it was just way too much adrenaline for me!

I had better close and get on with my day here... Master Gabriel will be joining us later- Roberta's girlfriend being so good to have taken him on such short notice and has kept him warm and safe too; even getting her own sitters for him when she had to work. (Never count on an "outpatient procedure" to be that way)!

I hope you are all safe and warm; that you have running water and electricity too! this weather can kill... And even down in Florda! I am thinking that perhaps a small hurricane would have been more welcomed there.

    Have a SUPER weekend!

    XOXO
    Anne

PS I am thrilled beyond words that Brett is back for another season! (Perhaps our little voices on his "You Can't Retire" website made a bit of a difference)?!?!

CLICK HERE to welcome him back!

We love our Green Bay Packers!!!

    Roberta

Happy Groundhog Day, and Good Morning too. (At least it probably should be by the time that you read this)...

Was it only less than a day since I last blogged? (Feels more like a short eternity).

OK ... CaseyAnne and Derek are staying the night up at the hospital with Roberta. I will return as early as my sleep allows me to in the morning.

Roberta's heart rate faltered once more in mid~afternoon, and her blood pressure plummeted. She is well once again, and they all keep saying she will be just fine and maybe even to come home in the morning... Time will tell, but wouldn't that be wonderful!!!

I need to thank all those of you who have taken a moment to offer your prayers and your concern for her, and your cheer for those of us that have spent those hours up at the hospital too. It is always greatly appreciated. Those of you too that tried to call. I am sorry that I did not have my answering machine on. I shall go turn it on now...

Just thought I would keep you all up to date... (I have to go try to nap once more- I told them I would be up there early early)!

    XOXO
    Anne

    Happy February!

    And GOOD MORNING!

In the wee hours of the morning here, there is so much to be thankful for... The quietude... and the furnace too! Chilly in here this morning, but have cranked the heat up to 68 already. And didn't shut it down too far last night either; as Berta and Casey are both asleep upstairs... The Punkster is also up there, (asleep with one of the girls)... and Miss Milly is asleep in the entrance. And not too much of an argument from her either... So all is well with my world; and I hope it is with yours too!

Had Miss Milly in/out for the best part of the day... Rarely did the windchill rise above zero... I am seeing that it is about 11 degrees right now (yes, that is on the PLUS side), and yet I hear a bit of the wind too...

She came in yesterday morning and stole Punkie bone. Punk was trying to argue with her mothers' executive decision to gnaw on it a while; and when I admonished them for getting too rambuntious, this is what I ended up with in my camera.

    .

    .

    .

Yes, she actually fell alseep on her mama's hinder!
    .
    .
    .

Now getting a picture of Miss Milly in anything but a smile, you cannot let her hear the camera turn on. Honest. Kind of funny. She is also a bit odd in the respect that she HATES to come off that rug because her feet make noise on the linoleum. We have to put down little rugs or towels to get her to venture too much further than the entrance or the food dish. Picky dog!

Last night/late afternoon, Berta had brought her in... I had been resting my chilly bones on the couch...

I heard them come into the entrance, and was clearly NOT prepared for what happened next... Miss Milly STOLE Punkies little busted toy, almost flew into the living room; sailing right past her annoying Punk, and jumping straight onto my back on the couch! And even though she does smell/(reek) of the red cedar chips mixed with 'dog' I could not help but burst out laughing... What a shock for such a previously cautious and timid dog! Not to mention the fact that I was more than shocked too!

    .

    .

    .

And then she tried to 'hide' that toy!!!
She stayed on the couch WELL AFTER she had forced my own backside off!
    .
    .
    .
    ..........
Myself, fighting for a place on MY couch...... And Berta with Milly
    .
    .

And poor little Punk... (I don't think she is too impressed that mama gets to share the house either)!

Casey arrived after her classes were done- Master Gabriel thought it unwise that she woud have to eat alone and begged for food from his Auntie Casey...

    .

    .

    .

    ...............
    Mmmmmmmm, GOOD!!!!
    .
    .

Berta had that appointment yesterday with the surgeon- All went well as he explained about Gallbladder Disease to her... She has surgery scheduled for this morning... and we must be at the hospital for 5:30~ish... Please continue to keep her in your thoughts; as well as Miss Mindys mother who will be undergoing a much longer surgery today... CLICK HERE for her blog and please leave her a positive little note.

I will go out shortly and start the cars that we will need to go with. I told Casey just in case the new(er) cars don't start, there is always the old Buick Roadmaster. I have never ever had a problem starting that car; (knock on wood), and I am glad it is still in the yard to use if need be!

I hope you all have a grand day!

    XOXO

    Love Is In the Air!

    Good Wednesday Morning!

And what a beautiful day yesterday was! Made that way by Mother Nature, those of you 'brave' enough to comment, and of course by me too! I was so ambivalent about posting what was happening... And hindsight being what it is, I have NO idea why I felt that way either. And yes, I Do have more faith in my friends! ALL of you!

I love and respect all of your own opinions, judgements and notes. And yes, it is so very comforting to know that there is a wonderful support system for my flagging and faltering family issues. You, my friends have also "been there; done that" ...And while I am sorry that you have also gone through this, or are going through it, there is that comfort in that 'knowing' and in that 'sharing'. God Bless You ALL!

After I had finished my blogging, I did get outside to shovel and plow. The old farmyard and driveways look SO very nice... I even made a mad dash across the road to get the snow from the mailbox so the mailman has no reason to be leaving those sassy notes in my box! hehehe (I am guessing that anyone in the country, and north of the Mason-Dixon line, has received a note like that at one point or another)!

I haven't gotten those tire chains yet, but think I am getting the hang of "un~stuck~ing" myself too! (Yes, I know that is not a word, but you get my 'drift' anyway, don't you)?!?! hehehe ...I couldn't resist!

Once again, Punk thought she could "hide" behind the snowbanks...

    .

    .

    .

(But methinks that at 85 pounds, it is kinda hard for her to hide ANYWHERE)!

    .

    .

    .

Oh, she just LOVES playing in the snow!

    .

    .

    .

(Actually I think she may have been trying to run away from Master Gabriel at that point in time)... Not that it worked for her!

    .

    .

    .

    .
    .
    .

Yes, Roberta and Gabriel stopped by yesterday afternoon. Even Gabriel went for a walk around the yard...

    .

    .

    .

Having first to hit the snow with his bare hands, and then head over to Miss Milly to quickly wipe them off and warm them up!
    .
    .
    .

We ordered food as I had been outside all that time, (and surely 'cooking' was the very last thing on my mind). And besides, it is nice every now and then to have someone else do the cooking! I ordered a salad too. And they do not just throw lettuce in either. Oooh, a pet peeve here... I do hate when places chop up their lettuce, put it in a bowl and call it a 'salad' ~ (That's not a salad, it's a danged dish of lettuce)! Mine had 2 different kinds of lettuce, red cabbage, a few onions, tomatoes galore, a few black olives and a little spinach; all sprinkled with a bit of finely grated co~jack cheese! Mmmmmmm! (especially after adding the peppercorn ranch and a bit of ruby red french too)!

    .

    .

Gabriel was not too interested in his food until he was out of his highchair, and Mama started giving a few pieces to Punk... Then it was a whole different story!!!

    .

Berta, meting out the French Fries and Chicken Strips!
    .
    .
    .
    .

The other morning, Punk needed to go out, and it was still dark, except for the yardlight... She ran out, and hit the snow GROWLING! (I do love her very protective nature)... And I couldn't see exactly what had made her fur stand on end, but even Miss Milly had woken up to take a look~see... I threw my booties on, and ventured out as Punk stood rigid, in the snow... I burst out laughing too, just before patting her on the head and telling her what a good pup she is! Seems as though a well built wooden bird feeder only lasts through about 4 winters of getting beat up by the deer, and it had fallen to the ground... This was very frightening to the young dog who has never seen it anywhere except UP! I repaired that yesterday and refilled them both.

The birds will be all set now (should be anyway), for the up and coming deep freeze.

...As I write, it is currently +2 degrees, with a windchill of 12 below...

And I'd best not complain either because that +2 reading is going to be the high for us, come the weekend! ...That hot cocoa is going to taste real good!!! But I must get a bit of shopping done today too; as I am "fresh out of marshmallows"- and who can possibly drink hot cocoa without marshmallows? Correction here... I think I should have said I am "out of fresh marshmallows." Cuz I'll bet if I look in my cupboards, I could possibly find some really hard ones leftover from our Labor Day picnic! (Yeah yeah, say what you will, YOUR cupboards are exactly like mine)! hehehe

Roberta does need to have surgery- we have an appointment to set that all up today, so I am thinking her surgery will not be too far off. She has been suffering far too long already. Please wish her well. And I know I do not even have to ask you for your kind and generous prayers because I know how very well they were offered when CaseyAnne was so sick. (Casey is trying to recover from her nasty nasty cold yet; and when she calls, she sounds like a seal)! I shall fill you in tomorrow when I know more about it all...

Getting around to the above 'title' here; we had more than a little excitement yesterday afternoon...

I had gotten some toys out after we ate, and we were all playing with them in the living room. Punk was asleep in the entrance or she would have eaten all the spider~man toys too... I'll bet we were playing for over an hour with Master Gabriels toys... Of a sudden, Miss Punk once more, is barking and growling and hyper... simply going crazy about something... When I round the corner, she is plastered straight up against the glass in the screen door.

I look outside, and Miss Milly seems to be fighting off an intruder. A very handsome intruder too. Her visitor was a young dog, (and purely hellbent on jumping her bones). I was ready to go out there and shoo him off, but when I saw the drool that was coming from his mouth I decided it might not behoove me to be pissing him off. (Milly was on her own). Berta called in, as neither of us were going to go out there and read his collar and tags-

He looked very very thin- A starving Golden Retriever; (I could see his ribs).

But Miss Milly is just SO sexy ya know... And even though I would have fired a shot into the air if he had mounted her, I am afraid it was too darned late to even worry about that end of it all... ***When I am working outside, I always cable Miss Milly to her doghouse. She can go in/out of the kennel that way, and with a 50 foot lead, she can run around quite well. Yesterday was such a "wondermous" day that I left her on her cable... Oops... The fact that, by the time Miss Punk had woken up was about an entire hour since we had all left the kitchen, and my guess is that in the meantime, Cupid was shooting his little arrows off, unchaperoned, in my yard...

And that danged Milly??? She never barked even once!!! (Probably didn't want to be waking Punk up)!

The officer got here, and opened his door to get out of the cruiser... he changed his mind right quick when he saw all the drool... Pulling his leg in, and slamming his door, he picks up his handheld and calls the dog catcher... hehehe

About 10 minutes later, she is here with the neck loop... But reading his collar, she just puts him into her squad and tells me that his rabies tag is current, and it is from Dr. Spires office! Yay! My own vet! Calling there, they assure me that the right tag is on the correct animal... thank God for small miracles!

...And speaking of those small miracles... I shall be appropriately horrified to find out if/when Miss Milly will be expecting... And then I will settle in and accept it all. (God help me)! YOKES!!!!

Oh well, WORSE things have happened...

    Have a great day Y'all!

    XOXO
    Anne
