[My] Life in Wisconsin

A "New" Blog! hehehe

Late...
Late... magnify

This is my monitor screen;
what I saw when I came online yesterday morning...
OOPS!!!
It's better now.

First of all to apologize to those of you that were upset or lost by my transferring of some old blogs to this site.
I need to continue to do that too.
At the top of each blog will be the date it was originally published.

.

Good Monday Morning All;
And oh how busy we have been around Flintville! But it is a happy kind of 'busy' too...

Planting. Laundry. etc etc etc...

Now the planting is very normal for now... But the load after load after load of laundry is not.
In my last entry, you saw how Sputty had come to cuffs with the baby mole... twice. I have now come to the conclusion that these moles were actually one and the same- The first one that I'd clobbered having gotten back inside somehow while we were gone to our Mothers Day dinner.
There has been not a single resurgence of moles anywhere.

The laundry? I have stripped every bed, top to mattress. Casey and I have turned every room upstairs basically inside out, save removing the carpeting. We have emptied drawers and flipped over mattresses; we have even looked under all dressers and shelving.
There is a ghastly 'dead body' smell from somewhere. And we cannot find the source...
(Beginning to think that we have finally located Jimmy Hoffa; kinda). But he MUST be in the attic- or the walls; because he sure as heck isn't anywhere else!
And FYI, if the 'source' was another itty bitty mole, the smell would NOT last this long!!!

Grrr... I don't even want to think about it anymore...

And so, on to busier (and infinitely more important) things...

Our sweet Jenny Mella has graduated from college! Say YAY!
Cum Laude. Say Yay Again!
AND,
She did this in three years time too!
Say YAY yet again!

***To tell Jenny CONGRATULATIONS, please CLICK HERE.
***To know WHO Jenny Mella is to us, please CLICK HERE.

Greg and Casey went to Stevens Point for the ceremony- Casey came home early, not feeling well at all. Greg then took her home with him to be closer to the hospitals. Not a good day for Casey- Kind of tough to see that this might have been her own graduation ceremony; (but that UWGB has ensured it was not).
Still, she was ever SO happy for Jenny, and proud. As I am too!

The link to congratulate her is a 360 page- I do believe her top page comments are open...
The other link is Multiply- and THAT should work!

Sad to see 360 go down the tubes for us all. But dying horse that it is serves no reason to leave my page open there.
Only my mailbox will remain open.

But yesterdays top page was pretty cool for me to wake up to.
Check this out!
.

.

360 Views- 05/18/08

.

My guess is that number will hover at that point until (IF) I reopen that page...

.

And back to my blog ...

.

.

My tulips are drawing to an end; (but still pretty).

.

.

Where as Caseys flowers have just begun...
.
.

.

.

A few of her plants...
.
.
She carries the cedar "fencing" from the front pines.
.
.
.lants...

And has planted a ton of flowers and seeds within our fancy fence.
I can't wait to see how it all turns out for her.
The fence needed to be added to keep the dogs out...

.

And yes, I do have to reinforce the strings with wire.

.

.

Even the apple blossoms are almost ready to open!

.

.

And so FINALLY, Spring is here!

Last Friday, (under cover of the noonday sun), Casey and I snuck off to Kelli's and thieved a *ahem 'few' baby lilacs from her front yard.
(I have already admitted my heinous deed)!
I planted some where Mama's lilacs had gotten decapitated last fall and winter- And the rest are now rooting along the east side of the garden.

.

.

This is less than a third of those young lilacs...
Before they were watered too.

The marigolds to ward off any hungry intruders that might be wanting to feast on my new Rain Lilies planted in between them.
Thank You Sweet Connie and JT! CLICK HERE for her blogs
I have also planted JT's "Surprise Lilies" in and around the trees, the barngrade and the shed!
I can't wait to be seeing them come up; maybe next year...
I do love 'surprises'!
hehehe

.

A new young cluster of birch~ (NE side of garden)...

.

Now I have to tend to my garden-
Having it all tilled up (two weeks ago already), it is now sprouting a various assortment of weeds and flowers.
We will have to wait a bit to see what those little sprouts really are. BUT I really do have to be planting a few edible rows of veggies.

Hope all is well with everyone, and I hope you all have a wonderful week!
And I promise to (try to) be posting smaller blogs more often...
...as time permits.

More news tomorrow I'm sure.

Love to all.

XOXO
Anne

PS...
I am hoping that maybe you have sent a card to Baby Mariah?
Her birthday is May 28th- Please have your friends do this too!

  1. Hmm, wondering what got maimed and has crawled behind a wall to die? Yuck!

You sure do have a short growing season up there. Your tulips are lovely! I'm pretty much done with planting, from here on out it will be constant maintenance.

I love the way you're fencing in your garden area!

  2. EEEEEEEEEEE

Jimmy Hoffa is in your house!!!!!

    (did you check the attic?)

I HATE that dead body smell.

The flowers are gorgeous, glad spring finally sprang for you.

  3. oh wait, you already mentioned the attic.....

We had a possum die under the front porch once and for some reason it smelled worse in the house. Of course it was under the concrete so our only recourse was the remove the concrete or fill the space with odo-ban..... we went with b. Several gaggish attempts later we were able to kill the smell by dousing the proper area.

Good luck on finding Mr. Hoffa.

  4. The flowers are BEAUTIFUL!! This area has begun to move on to the Summertime blooms, but then you are further North!

Uh Anne, could Jimmy Hoffa by any chance be hiding UNDER the carpeting? Phew! Hope you find and are able to get rid of the dead smell soon.

  5. Great flowers and plants. I have yet to put anything in my front garden. It might just be a home for my Japanese Elm or is it a Chinese Maple? I forget. It could be neither but it could be alone this yr. I'm so bad!

  6. Good Monday evenin Bart!
I just knew you musta been outside working your tush off and you just didnt have time to write new blogs.. Your plants and flowers are looking awesome.. I think I tried to plant some like Casey's but I have seen no evidence of them coming up. According to the picture anyways they were similar.
Your tulips are fantastic! so beautiful! I just love apple blossums they are so pretty. Our apple trees were blooming a couple of weeks ago.. Im sure hoping we get apples this year. Last year a late frost.. did away with that.

As to Yahell.. I have just about given up.. I have not closed my page... I tried that and they stole everything.. trying to get it back I re-opened it up.. But honestly I havent even been reposting like I had been.. I do keep trying to hold out to see what they come up with..
Congrats on the 222,000 thats awesome... SEEEEEEE WEEEEE LOVEEEEEEE UUUUUUU!

EWWWW on the smell.. but I do that too.. smell something and next thing I know Im working my tush off trying to find it. My neighbor had the same issue and honestly I think her's was a water leak under her house.. when that got fixed amazingly the smell went away.. whether it was coincidence or not.. dunno?? Of course, must remember that we live in trailers here.. and the air ducts are under the house.. so it was just bringing that smell on in.. cause remember nasty mud smells like "dead" something.

Best time of the year for me.. everything is blooming and turning green and the hope of things to come..oh yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

    Mucho hugs

  9. Sweet RT!
Most of the plants came up without any problems, but I swear the hostas on the north side of the pumphouse have only an inch or two above leaves now. (I leave the leaves for them to be a bit more protected during winter)...
Short season? Yes, much shorter than yours is, but still long enough for a decent crop of corn.
I still think it's odd to go Up Nort' and to see no silos at any of the farms. But why put up a silo when they cannot grow corn?
MAINTENENCE? hehehe You need to come pull MY weeds.
Why is the growing season for weeds plenty long enough already???

    Love to you

    XOXO

  10. My Dear Sweet Pea;
OK. On 2nd thought, maybe it isn't Jimmy Hoffa-
    It COULD be Elvis.
(Either way, they have NOT left the building)!
And bite your tongue Pea, but I am not going up in the attic.
    That is a mans job.
(And the last time I peed I had to sit down, so I am not a man).
    Nope.
    Nope.
    Nope.
    NOT going up there.
    Nope.

    Love to you

    XOXO
    Me

PS I'm glad you like my flowers!!!

  11. Oh...
Odoban? Methinks if I put that upstairs that the entire bedroom would disappear...
    (Maybe the entire upstairs)...
Now, the smell is only in one bedroom, and that is what is so perplexing.
Today I will bring the dehumidifier up there and try to hasten the 'drying' process.

    XOXO

  12. Sweet Donna!
If he was hiding under the carpeting, don't you think there would be a lump? (Maybe even a damp spot)?

Maybe I should move a few of those blossoms and flowers INDOORS for a while...
    hehehe

    Love to you Cat

    XOXO

  13. Sweet BUG!
You make me laugh! I still have to throw some seeds in the garden!!! I haven't even planted a single thing out there yet- Only the flowers and more than a few transplanted trees and all...
Glad you like the flowers too. In actuality, they are all over just to add a bit of love to the grounds here. The speckled color is just what I need.
I try to naturalize most everything, save for the vegetables, so plants come up here and there. No organization and sometimes looking at it all makes ME laugh.

    Love to you

    XOXO

  14. Holy Crap Beep... Where shall I begin???
Mostly what you have said is true.
But I did look, (and there it STILL is)... my damned tush!
I have just checked my Yahoo pages. Three notes in my mailbox from people that do not care to be changing sites. I would die inside to lose my entries, so I need to have them backed up somewhere.

I had 169 more views over there too... Weird that people still come back.

    Now about Hoffa- or Elvis-...
If they were under the house- (or even outside of it), methinks that there would be that distinct (di~stinked) smell in more than one place in my home, and not only on the 2nd level.
...And I thought these creatures were supposed to be back outside in the Spring... I can see maybe having one or two when the weather cools off in Fall, but have NEVER had this in Sprng.

I love "GREEN" too. (It makes the harshness of this last winter a bit more tolerable).
    Wait, no it doesn't.
But somehow it smells better than anything else, save for puppies.

    Love to you

    XOXO
