[My] Life in Wisconsin

Our 4th of July...

Our 4th of July...
  magnify
Good Morning Everyone!
What a FOURTH we had...

Casey called about 5:30 in the AM yesterday; in awful pain, but was going to try to sleep. (She hadn't slept all night). But yes, she is taking her pills.

As I am too.
My back is awful-
Showering is hard.
Getting dressed is quite challenging;
Putting shoes on is harder.

Early yesterday morning, Kelli called. She was already on her way to go pick up Tim.
.
.

.

(Tim had back surgery on Thursday, and was itching to get out of the darned place).
Not that anyone blames him...
And since neither of them had slept the night before, they were going to go home and sleep.
.
.
.
I had a package to drop off for Baby Mariah, so Punk and I took a little ride to Suamico.
Knowing I would not be going anywhere else, I opted for a sweatshirt over my jammies top.
(It was still cool enough outside to cheat at dressing)...
I did manage to throw on a pair of jeans, and after about 15 minutes I even got BOTH sneakers on.
hehehe
.
.

.
.
(And yes, those dang jeans hurt my back, bigtime).
But no big deal because I knew I would be out of them as soon as I got back home.
We were gone all of 15-20 minutes...

During that time, Roberta had called; leaving a message on my machine.
Hard to understand, but I recognized her 'fear' immediately.
She had already called 911, and was awaiting the ambulance; bleeding profusely...
I called her on her cell.
The rescue squad had arrived, and they were transporting her to St. V's.
I asked had they heard a heartbeat.
No, they hadn't checked yet; doing IV's etc on Roberta.

I told her I loved them, and that I was on my way...

A few phone calls on the way...
Waking up Miss Kelli and Tim,
(oops) ~Would Kelli let Punk out come afternoon...
No problem.

I tried to rouse Casey and Greg.
Neither phone was answered; and by the time I'd gotten through to Gregs' voicemail, I was a bit upset... Think I said something about "One of you HAS to leave your ringer on..."

A few seconds later, Casey called. She had heard Gregs phone vibrating, but not her own. 'What was up?' I told her. She also said they were on their way...

Know that one of the following pictures may upset my more 'sensitive' readers.
I will warn you before that picture comes up.

Arriving at the hospital, Roberta had already had her clothes cut off and was in that fancy hospital attire.
I told her they would probably do a C~Section. (News which only made her cry harder).
She cried through telling me that her own doctor was not on call...
I tried to console her by reminding her that she was 7 and a half weeks early too.
But I don't think too much was going to console her at that point...

Casey and Greg arrived.
A short time after that, I was asked if I would like to be with Roberta as they did the surgery.
ABSOLUTELY.
And into my scrubs I went.
.
.

No, this isn't the pic I warned you about-
Maybe I should have???

.
.

Chuck arrived just before they wheeled her out of her room. (Chuck is baby's daddy).
.
.

A quick picture of daddy, momma, and auntie...
.
.

They told me to have a seat in the O.R.
Nope, not gonna happen with this back of mine.
(Besides, had I sat I would not have been able to see anything).

.
.

..
.
****
Here's where that WARNING applies...

If you cannot stand to look, please scroll past the next picture
.
The Caesarian Section is done quickly... (Dr. Mary must work fast)
.
.

Sam makes his (almost too quiet) appearance.
.
.
.
And is soon all the way out, and whisked away to the warming unit.
.
.
.

A bit of oxygen,
along with a measly few squeaks out of him...
.
.
He was bundled up to meet momma; but for only a few seconds.
.
.

.
.
From there, almost immediately to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
(The news is that he will probably be there for about a month).

.
.

Greg's quarter showing how small Big Sam really is...
.
.
~and with this posting, it is high time for Master Gabriel and I to get up to the hospital!

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. Be safe.

To thank you too, for all the well wishes and prayers.

Love to all

XOXO
Anne

  8. Wow! Wow! Wow! Cant leave you alone for a second .. all blooming "H" breaks out..hehe

Congrats to the new parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles and brothers!

I guess the party isnt happening this year since Berta isnt there to cook? hehe But what a grand Birthday gift for you! A Yankee Doodle Dandy! Happy Birthday Sam! Happy Birthday Bart!

So how much did he weigh in at? My oldest weighed in at an early birth of 2.5lbs.. then lost down to 1.4 before the weight started back up. I was told at the time.. no worries all new born lose weight. Of course there are lots of issues with premies.. Not all serious.

Hope your back feels better soon. What did the doctor say when you went to see him?

    Mucho Hugs

  10. Oh wow! I missed mine!! His lordship was in there with me, but didn't take the camera! I do remember them (the boys) being thrust under my nose for all of 2 seconds before they were rushed off to their little plastic oxygen boxes with his lordship in tow - he just left me! I remember one of the surgeons giving him the choice of watching him sew up 20 layers of fat (his words!), or going with the babies to watch them being measured and whatever!! - He chose the babies - and I went to sleep and let them sew in peace! Actually, my last decent sleep for quite a long time!

Congratulations to Berta - and to you too.

    Hugs xxxx

Going though your posts that I was unable to see before I can now see by looking a Roberta's facial features and appearance that there is a problem
I now understand your last post clearly ( Grand-baby Sam. WHO t/f DOES THIS ?!? )
I was very moved to see him like that as it does bring back years of memories
