[My] Life in Wisconsin

My Best Friend?!

Representing necessary magic for me.

.
.
Good Morning Everyone!
And welcome to your first Monday of 2010. hehehe
Hope all is going well, (and that it remains that way throughout the year)!

I was treated for an ulcer years ago. I think I might have it back. The Pepto Bismol above has been my best friend for the past few days or so. I don't want it back! The treatment being much worse than the ulcer itself!
However, it would not surprise me to learn that is has returned... Maybe it has something to do with all the calcium I've been taking?

Casey has a doctor appointment this afternoon that I will be picking her up for and bringing her to. She has some awful pain once more. Think the Reglan Dr. S prescribed for her is beginning not to work so well. It is aka "metoclopramide". CLICK HERE for info.
You can only take that one for so long anyway before you get some bad complications-
and that is why she can't 'wait' longer to have these surgeries done.

Speaking of illness and our kids, I came across this article, CLICK HERE, which says in short,
"Flu Pandemics May Be Worsened By Short-Term School Closures" There is not much anyone can do about this, but something to think about anyway.
Am guessing everyone's children are back to school today?

Casey was to begin 2nd term on the 25th- But that conflicts bad with her next scheduled surgeries. CLICK, if you don't have my calendar up on your page. She will be taking this semester off, and re-up come Fall.
Hopefully she will be well enough to enjoy her Birthday Party on the 23rd.
FYI to My Sweet Pea; We laughed our butts off, and had no grand comeback to your comment.
By way of explanation and apology for my mental lapse, this is for you...

..

Your comment is as hysterical as this little guy!
We can only hope that one day you will not be as confused anymore.

HAHAHA

It has been mighty cold- (Must be the Winter thing? hehehe)...
At least it is real pretty outside.

Sunrise, Happy New Year
~~ Sunrise on New Years, 2010

I know some of you were not able to see our blue moon last week because of the clouds.

Here it is from my bedroom window
.
.
.
Blue Moon
Moon, setting in the west...

Hmmm   Let's see.  Among other things, I scared the heck out of myself. and almost didn't HAVE a bedroom to write about-

I might have needed some of this...
.
.
.
1229 002
.
.
.
To fix this part of a cord...
.
.
.
1229 001

Not noticing the cord to my glue gun was more than a bit frayed; I reached over and plugged it into the outlet. HOLY JESUS, MARY, AND JOSEPH! Huge bright parks flew about a foot out of the wall, and off the cord! (Forgetting about NOT being able to jump, I think I cleared about 5 feet between my feet and the floor).

Confession: after repairs were made, I did put an ove~glove on as I plugged it in again. All was well and I was back in business in no time.  YAY!

FDA Recalls that I didn't post, but you probably already know about: (And I did post about hazelnuts, so will leave those off the list)
  • Tylenol Arthritis, 100 count
  • Nutty Guys Butter Toffee Peanuts & Yogurt Covered Peanuts
we
And then there was this one:  "Publix Issues Allergy Alert on Pecans in Publix Pumpkin Pecan Streusel Pie
"
I still don't understand it, even with the explanation: "because it was mislabeled and may contain undeclared pecans."

Call me st00pid~
If I were to buy anything that's called 'Pumpkin Pecan' I would assume that it might have pecans in it...

I'd better close for now and get my backside motivated and in the shower.

Hope y'all have a "wunnaful" Monday!

XOXO
Me

  1. Pepto is my dad's med of choice when the need arises.

Poor Casey, it would be nice if she could get past all this crap quickly.

Me thinks you need to see a doctor, again.

I'm sure you have great insurance on that house, but it's not the way to get rid of it. Fires can't happen while you are around. Sheesh

The name "Publix" on any food would turn me off, who cares about the recall, LOL

  2. I had no idea what those PB tablets were until I read your blog! My education is now complete:) I've seen the daft adverts on TV, but never actually seen the stuff. They look very big and very pink!

I laughed out loud at your antics with the electric cord! But what on earth were you THINKING girl? Jeez! I bet THAT got the adrenaline flowing!

You look after yourself (and Casey, bless her),

    Hugs all round xxxx

  3. Great pictures of the moon and the sunrise on new years.
Hope Casey's apt goes well and she will get something new for pain.

  4. Sounds like you got a good fright and glad it wasn't a good shock ..

I wish Casey had all this behind her but will be keeping her in my thoughts and prayers for sure ..

    I love the pictures ..

Sounds like you should get checked out by a doc to make sure .. I have drank much peptol in my day but didn't even realize you could get pills , sheesh , that would be so much easier ..

  5. I need to invest in some Pepto... Been having horrible heartburn here lately :(

Now WHY on Earth were you trying to burn your bedroom down?? What were you using the glue gun for anyways??

Your moon picture is beautiful! It was cloudy and rainy here that night...

Randall takes Reglan and I need to get him to make a DR app sooner, rather than later... He has been suffering the side effect of the Reglan for a while now...

Hope you're staying warm in all this nasty, cold weather!

    Love Ya!

    My work there is done.

    feel better soon!

  8. Sweet Oka;
hehehe Giggling at the publix comment! Too funny. (But I think you are correct too)!

I have always been partial to Pepto myself. Maybe because years ago when I needed something that was the only thing on the market that worked for me. Why try new stuff when one already has something that works...

GAWD! I surely wish this surgery was over with already... It is very hard to see her in such pain, and grapple to get a a handle on it just to function.

That cord and sparks sure scared the hell outta me! Am surprised it didn't throw the circuit breaker.

  9. Sweet Mrs. G;
The PB tabs are just a little smaller than a nickel, and a little thicker. Not too bad, but you have to remember to brush your teeth a few minutes later or it leaves your mouth a funny color. hehehe

I am well known for NOT being an adrenalin junkie. But you just go ahead and laugh at me... Seems I might remember a garage door or so giving you problems? ROTFLMBO!

Come give Casey a hug. Methinks she needs all the hugs she can get.

  10. Thanks Sweetie!
With respect to her upcoming surgery they have increased her pain meds for now. If she doesn't see a difference soon then she will go back on the dilauded.

    Keep the good thoughts coming!

  11. Sweet Carolyn;
There was that split second that everything registers in my wee little brain... The the oh crap! But can you imagine if I had gotten shocked? Casey would have found me sprawled somewhere and no one would have known wth had happened.
You made me laugh at that scenario. hehehe

I did make an appointment- Actually I already had one for later in the month for a recheck of my thyroid since that is one of the tests that came back all whacked out. But that is when Casey has her surgery so I had to move that one up. It all works out now.

  12. Beautiful Moon shot! Looks like you had a nice clear night for it there.

Girl....that frayed wire incident could have turned out bad! But on the bright side....at least now you know you CAN "move" a little if you have to.

Now speaking of the recalls.....Last week I bought some Breyers Butter Pecan ice cream that SHOULD have been on that list! I never buy Breyers because it was always so expensive. It was on sale at a lower price than those I usually buy. It was awful. The ice cream itself tasted as if it was pure undesolved sugar and the pecans had to be from a dried up tree that was dying. Gave me stomach "problems" every time I ate it! Well...I have had my fill of Breyers. No more of that brand for me! Even if they offered it for free!

I'm keeping you and Casey in my prayers!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh and I didn't know about the chewable pills either until I was treated for my first ulcer. They are part and parcel of the meds you have to take to get rid of the dang thing.
MUCH easier. I haven't bought a bottle ever since.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Sweet SlurkieBaby!
Get the chewable tabs- Tastes the same as the bottled variety, and work the same. Each one is wrapped too so I can carry it in my little medicine bag in my purse.

I wasn't trying to burn my bedroom down. That's been done already- (*evil giggle). .
I thought I could fix Punks ball for her- it didn't work, but hey it gave me something to blog about! HAHAHA!

I knew you and Oka had missed the blue moon night/s so I thought to include that picture for you both!

Get Randall in and do not take a "I don't wanna" for an answer. Drag him if you have to.

With this weather, once I am cold I swear I can stay that way for days if I'm not careful. It's the chill that gets inside of you and settles in no matter what you do.
That said, I am warm- Even have a little blanket on.

  15. No Sweetie;
It wasn't the meeces- It was my own fault (believe it or not). I had used it in Sept or Oct for something... While I had been holding the thing together with my other hand, I had accidentally put the gun down on the cord. I quick had unplugged it then. And ever gave it another thought... UNTIL...
(I remembered right quick 2 days ago). ;-)

  16. Sweet Beep!
I am so far behind- I know that I had your 2nd latest blog up the other day (along with Oka's today) and never even had a chance to read it... My apologies- i shall return to them both soon

Hope your own Monday was 'wunnaful'

Look how you just snuck right in there... hehehe

Oh I know I can move...
Just that it is godawful when I do anything er, um, "jerky". (For lack of a better word). ??? ;-)

Go to Breyers.com and see if there was/is a recall. Seems to me I remember their name being on a list a while back.
    Then holler loudly.

Thank you too for the prayers. We can use them all right about now... and always. hehehe

  19. Hello Anne...it's been awhile but the cat came back (me) LOL It was a busy hustle around Christmas with the extra kids and their bigger kid parents!!! But we all had fun and the weather was good for travelling so that made it even better. I talked and laughed so much I was sore all over!!! LOL

I am going to have a mass said for Casey, if you don't mind. I think you are Catholic, but that don't matter, they are good for everyone. :) I'll keep her in my prayers, as usual. I'll be so happy for all of you when the surgeries are over and your back has mended. It must be awfully stressful for you.

Those are beautiful pics of the Blue Moon. Don't feel too bad about your weather. WE got two
feet of snow for New Year's Day. It was just so beautiful...but there is another storm coming for
the weekend and the sidewalks haven't been cleaned up from this one. You won't hear one bad
word from me about it. because I danced all around with my walker I was so happy to see the
snow. haha It's been around 30F but it's suppose to get much colder for the weekend with the
snow storm. I'll just send Dave to get the food we need and we'll snuggle and eat pop corn. :)

After that episode in the bedroom, I'm glad we still have you around to blog and send us nice
pics. Check all your cords before you plug them in. That always scares me. I'm very happy
you are still with us and that you didn't get hurt.

WEll it's goo late to write more. I'm going to bed!! If I said anything that don't make sense just
delete and tell me about it. I might have to stop writing at night cause I have no clue what I was
talking about the next day when I read it!!! BAD. BAD. :) If you don't mind maybe you could
email me your telephone #. If that is not something you do, then that is just fine and we will
keep things just as they are....no problems!!! Have a good night and God Bless. Hugs xo

  20. Good morning gonna try this again & wrote you a chapter in the book of our life this am & it didnt go through! Sorry to hear about your Tummie troubles& of course prayers for Casey & her Docs that they can come to a plan of action. Tummies are full Gabe set the table , Alexis made toast & kayleigh scrambled the eggs. Kitchen is cleaned & DW running & kids in play rooom with me so will try again B4 go up & set them & bedrooms to rights. takes me a while with 6 & Gabe being the oldest .THe latest additions are 2 little girls very delayed & pathetic would like to wrap them up & run away to Alaska . (Hense the reason I am 51 & have 2-3 year olds & 1- 4 year old) . that & a little boy we have had for a couple months so have a 18 month mo old & 28 month old and a 23 month old on top of My klids
needless to say my days are full with just basic running of the house hold . But no one is naked or starving so I guess those are the important things in life . S&J brought along with them double ear infections & awesome colds & shared with us all so have the creeping crud here kids hit he worst ! So lots of crabby & emotional kids makes for noisy days but this too shall pass.
We had a fun very excited Christmas the kids got way to much but some awesome games that we have had fun playing that & 3 play dough fun factories & dress up boxes were the big hit a few new movies for some down time (mom needs a break time ) . & lots of other little stuff. now try to organize & incorperate so it all has its own place yet is acessable for them . hardest part is going back to routine & weaning from sugar treats . Mom is sure ready for that I am a creature of structure > (my allusion of control) . well some one stinks so should go start tubbies & get the day offically started . Have a great day love from the whole P gang

  22. Nah no need to panic about the H1N1 Anne, Ref (Short-Term School Closures) keep ya kids in school and take out the sick ones although when I went to the Doc for some prescription Repeats I did put on a Facial Mask, coughed and splutter and the people cleared some seats for me alright, they didn't want to sit near us hahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  23. Sweet Bev!
It's been so long that I thought you dumped me!

Christmas IS for kids- (But they never said kids couldn't be big like us). hehehe And any grown up that doesn't say that is a Scrooge indeed.

Casey and I would both be honored by that mass.
(As a side-note there, I am Catholic; and no, it does not matter).

Now can I go from the mass to my bedroom and make a joke? Nah. Better not. hehehe
    Fire scares me-
Electricity, as long as it is coming out of a 120 outlet, it's not so bad- Just shocking- (Pardon the pun)

You worry too much about what you write when you are tired. Just remember I am always tired, so it always makes sense to me! hehehe

Oh no! I have to throw a shovel around outside today... Send ALL the kids, they can help. hehehe

For starters, I happen to LOVE that you came on here! You may write a chapter anytime you wish!
I also get tired just thinking of your days! But oh what fun you have too.
Gabriel "old" ?! (I can't wrap my mind around that thought for some reason)!

Hope all went well at the doctors yesterday?

    My love to all

Don't go to Alaska without shorts. I hear they are warmer than we are...

  26. Mr. Lester-
    I don't panic for myself-
Casey does not have a spleen since her TP/AIT transplant last year. I worry much for her contracting ANYthing now.
Besides, we have gotten our shots long time ago already. We are safe. I still have to get the plain variety. The clinic was out. But want to do that before we go to Minnesota for her next 2 surgeries later this month.

I laughed hysterically at you putting that mask on- Now it makes me wonder how many peopkle really mean it when they don that mask...

  31. Yep..most people with sense would understand that "Pumpkin Pecan" would contain pecans..but there is that small sector that would swear that they didnt understand that statement.

Hope Casey's surgries go well and she has a speedy recovery. Drew didnt get a skin graft this week and he's got a 3 week reprieve until he goes back to the Dr. We are hoping the areas continue healing and he won't need anymore grafts. Both these kids need a big break!!

Glad you werent hurt in the cord accident ..that reminds me...I need to fix the cord on my vaccumm cleaner. Its frayed in a couple places. It would be Drew that got "juiced" with my luck...and his..lol

Its cold here on the coast tonight..it was warm for a few hours last night while it rained...then the temps began to fall again...its currently 30 and feels like 18. Nest weekend they are calling for temps in the 60's ...and rain.

I took pics of the fireworks New Years Eve and completely forgot about the blue moon..lol
    Oh well..maybe next time.

Well time here for a cup of hot chocolate and get under the electric blanket on the couch and watch some tv..have a good weekend...stay warm!

  32. Hi Mommy!

This is one of the blogs I missed when I got hit with the bug... (Luckily it seems to have one foot out the door... YAY!)

The picture of the rabbit with the pancake on its head is adoreable! Made me laugh out loud!!!

Sorry to hear about that damn ulcer returning... Maybe it's lack of Cherry Pepsi, I'll have to make a trip to pick you up some from Appleton before we leave for MN... Maybe it wards off ulcers and has some magical preventative stuff in its recipe! :D Hopefully this ulcer decides to fix itself so that you don't have to go on the antibiotics and the full treatment... I know this created even more pain than the ulcer did in the first place and was hell for you to go through... I will pray that it goes away for you soon!

    Love you MUCH MUCH!!!
    ~Casey
