[My] Life in Wisconsin

See 1st comment for the link- My reply was this... //// "{People} are not penis or vagina, save for the moment of birth- (should their parents have wanted to have been surprised). People are heart, soul. and spirit. Those hearts souls and spirits should- and will- be either good or bad. (But THAT is on the INside for chrissakes). But it is never another persons good and decent reflection that tells them THEY can judge anyone, for ANY reason. (I should have added, save for dark spirits and souls)- The world may be small, but our hearts are s'posed to be- oh, SO much bigger than that. XOXO, Me" //// What say you? XOXO, Me

  1. Crap like this should NEVER happen- and IMHO, wouldn't, if parents didn't raise their children to be full of their own prejudices.

  2. wow, that was just awful! really it makes no difference if that was a man or a woman, no one should be beaten because someone doesn't like them!

  3. I'm not clear on what happened. The text seems to give different versions and to throw in "facts" that may not be facts and certainly irrelevant, like the fact that someone who *appears* to be the victim has a record of prostitution. She says she and the girls argued but not about what and mentions their race. The girls don't give a reason. The kid who chose to videotape instead of helping or calling 911 says it was a man in drag and the argument was about his use of the women's room, but she says the argument started before she got to the restroom. Video kid says she faked a seizure until the police got there; the police say she seemed to be having one when they arrived. The way the story is written, it appears that the author doubts whether she is a transgender woman, which I think points to a lack of understanding of the word. Is the video any clearer? I can't see it on the cell.

What seems most clear to me is that neither the kid who videotaped the beating or the blogger is knowledgeable about or comfortable with any gender identity that isn't cisgender.

I also realize a comment I made on Tammi's page sounds like I'm not, either. Off to clarify...

  4. McDonald's Employee Took Credit For Filming Brutal Beating In Baltimore Fast Food Joint | The Smokin

Anna personally, me being me I would have stepped in and stop it there and then as I am able to, but people do react and act differently in their own ways, filmed for prosperity ( and also for court I hope )

I would have prefer to read:

McDonald's Employee ( saves person from ) Brutal Beating In Baltimore Fast Food Joint.

We are all different in varying degrees some are willing to "stand for others and in different ways" when others themselves can not.

  5. Right you are Sweet Suzy-
Then again, our schools were much safer back when "We'll finish this after school" was tolerated; even by the parents... The kids would duke it out after, and the next day THEY would be good friends all over again, leaving the rest of the school comforted by the fact that they were able to 'get it out of their system'...
And I DON'T mean it's OK to beat someone just cuz you don't like them...
I just am not sure how to say it is all.

The 2 school districts here are actually licking these kids out of school, theirs, on a permanent basis, for working out their grievances as has been the norm for, well forever. Weapons were what you were born with, nothing more.

  6. Neither am I Sweetie-
I have gone back to the article a few times. Each time either makes me madder, or makes e realize ore- from you girls' point of view.

I believe a big part of it, still and all, is that too many people do not know, or respect, the difference between transgender and transsexual.

  7. Mr Lester,
Yes, and I meant posterity as filmed and saved "for court" also.

Your last line says it all.
And that is why I love you so!

  8. I don't know the difference to speak of, in that one term includes the other. Here's my understanding:

Transgender is an umbrella term, so it includes anyone who identifies as any gender other than his or her biological one (including both or neither), whether that involves surgery, cross-dressing, or simply a strong feeling.

Also, a person who is preparing for surgery is usually encouraged to live as a member of his or her "new" gender, so cross-dressing isn't always something different from surgery that creates anatomical change but part of the process. And some people who would like surgery can't afford it--so if we're talking about discrete groups, where do they belong?

That leaves me unsure what the difference between "transgender" and "transsexual" is, although I note that Dictionary.com uses transsexual as the umbrella term and incorrectly restricts transgender to cross-dressing. So I'm not being snotty when I ask: What do you mean by those two terms?

I think that people are awfully confused about the difference between gender identity and orientation, which is a whole 'nother issue--though I think it was a contributing factor to the story.

  9. Forgive the fact that I am an idiot with many fractures and also that I am on some damned powerful narcotics.
I was truly thinking 'transvestite' being the difference.
(It gets pretty fookin' bad when one cannot even trust their own thoughts anymore). Kinda sad too when I have to rewrite every other comment I do leave.

    My apologies Sweets.

  10. My hopes are that the girls that did the beating spend some time in jail as well as the jerk that filmed instead of stepping in. These are sad days for all.
