Nasty window...
(And no, it is NOT that warm yet)...

.

.

Good Morning!
~After a brief absence from our little blog world, I am back.
And with news too.

Taking up where I left off on Wednesday...

.

.

I won't mention any business names...

.

.
Casey and I did visit the rental offices. They had turned Casey and Greg down because of Caseys credit rating.
(She has never had a car loan, no home loans or the like... NOTHING, save for her pancreas).
After identifying ourselves, the secretary was unsure if the rental lady would even speak to us.
(WHAT
)?!?
~No, I didn't question her.
I only said, "Oh, that's OK, we'll just wait"... as we took a seat at their table in the reception area. (No, we had not been invited to be seated). But there is something about people plunking their backsides down in your front office, waiting, that seems to get someones attention.
Not yet on the rampage, I snapped a few pictures of their award-lined walls; and mentally noted the owners of the place. A Patrick and Ann Murphy.

I saw 2 plaques that resonated their willingness to accept early rental payment.

.

.

The top one for "prompt" rent.
The lower, smaller one for paying in advance.
Both with 'prizes' for their renters...
.
.

And I thought, "YAY, there really IS hope."

So we waited (and waited...) for the credit lady to come out from the back.

SHE came out with her guns blazing, and a welcome attitude absent.
Kinda shattered any optimism I might have still felt at that point...

But like I said, there was still that bit of hope...

We spoke to her nicely. (Mama always said, "kill 'em with kindness").
So we did.
(And for as long as I could stand it).

Gregs credit is just fine.
I asked if they would consider putting the lease in Gregs name alone.
The lady, (barely restraining her bad attitude), looked at me, pointed at Casey, sighed, and said, "No, SHE would still be living there."

Treating us like lepers then...

She said it was their policy never to rent to anyone with less than their acceptable credit rating.

She told us that Caseys medical problems were OURS and ours alone, and that we should do something about them! This, after letting us know how very unwilling she was to even speak to us.
She further chastised Casey for not writing an income on her application...

(Umm... Wait... WHAT????)!

Me:
"Hello? ~Do you not get what we have just told you about how sick she is?"
(DUH. I abhor life in the 'slow' lane)...

Casey then quietly asked her who the owners were since they had implemented that policy.
The lady refused to answer.
We asked to be put in touch with them.
No answer.
I said, "Patrick and Ann Murphy".

The lady told me it was time for me to leave.   ?!?
C'mon, did she think we couldn't read? (I really am not as ignorant as I look).
Sheesh!

Yeah, ok, so we left with Casey in tears.
But not before making a few calls in the parking lot, and snapping a few pictures.
(B*tch that I can be; I really didn't care how much us sitting in the parking lot bothered that lady either).

Casey wanted to go to Channel 26, and tell her story.
I thought twice about it before we got there too.
But between what UWGB did to her, what her last 2 employers have done to her, and all of her health problems, there was no way I could/would deny her the possible opportunity to get her story out.

Casey was listened to almost immediately, beginning her story with UWGB.
The reporter that does the "You Ask, We Investigate" stories was very busy... But asked that we not go to any other station, saying he would be in touch with us and taking many notes...

If you have clicked on my new link, you already know what transpired with his promise to get in touch with her. How nice to have been given even that little bit of respect, almost sight unseen...

Here is that link... CLICK HERE...

This is an ongoing investigation.

I will write more later, but for now I must get busy around here. (The lawn MUST be cut so it can grow another 6" in the rain tomorrow)!
Hope you are all having a grand Mothers Day weekend!

Anne ~aka "Leper", (The Elder).

PS
An afterthought from a friend, and a GOOD question:
Is it legal to even consider medical 'credit' on a credit rating for housing?

May 7, 2008 Repeat Request for your help...

Hi again...

Please read my original TODAY blog (May 7 2008)...
Sorry that with all of my posting, todays blog got a bit last...

Here it is, copied for you.

Hi Friends (only)...

Casey received word yesterday that she will not be able to get that apartment. (Her credit score was 10 below the required 600 rating they want).

EVEN WITH AN EXCELLENT COSIGNOR the lady said no.

She also said they do not want 'that type' in their apartments.

JUST WHAT TYPE WOULD THAT BE????
The sick kid???
The broke one???
OR
Perhaps the Native American Heritage one???

...The owners were 'away' yesterday... Really?

This credit manager also TURNED DOWN our offer of entire amount of the whole lease IN ADVANCE to secure this apartment for her.

WHAT THE EFFING HELL?!?!?!

I called again, getting a different guy, and told him this is quickly becoming a matter of life or death for Casey. With her colon shutting down from the narcotics and the pancreas, she has since been told that it will only be about one year or two before this adversely affects her liver and her kidneys.
I told him if this was HIS child, he would move heaven and earth to make that child well.

He will send my message on...

And I will be taking a drive to town to fight for this place (and ultimately her treatment at Mayo).

Love to all.

Wish me well.
I promise to be calm, cool and collected.
In the event that effort on my part does not work, I will need to be bailed out. hehehe
And as soon as I am bailed out I further promise to blog every phone number they have.

XOXO
Anne

Hi;

I am back from the hospital once more...

CaseyAnne had an MRI yesterday- (How else would we choose to spend Easter Sunday)?!?  :)  It took a very long time too- The doctors came in this morning (all 3 of them), and they have found that Casey has a deformed pancreas- (a very rare birth defect).

She will need surgery, but there is no one capable of doing this rare procedure up here. I think she may be able to go to Madison. But first, she needs to at least be able to eat something,  anything,  keep it down, and have no pain.  Her doctors say a week in the hospital perhaps.

Hopefully the surgery can/will correct the problem- as it is right now, her pancreas is digesting itself.

   Not a nice scenario.

Birth defects?  What's up with that?  (And no, I never did anything that would account for something like this)! But she is just so young...  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Mary, Michael and Rita were not able to come up yesterday- as now Rita has influenza.  (And might I add how very  nice of Michael to share with his sister)!  Nasty stuff from all I hear about it.  Then Roberta calls this morning; and after having spent almost all of her (and Gabriels)  free moments up at the hospital with Casey-  She has strep throat.  I did tell Casey's  "gastro...ologist" guy.  He said not to worry about that right now. OK...

My little somewhat squashed and crippled pup seems to improve by leaps and bounds each day- Perhaps this little girl will ultimately be alright too- Maybe it was the drop in body temperature, perhaps the 'shock' of having a cement block on her back end. Maybe a whole slew of other possiblities...   She is eating- playing- and yes, they even have soggy doggy puppy food.  And oh, what messes they make with it. Not too very coordinated enough to keep their bodies and bellies out of their food dish!

Not too much other news-  (Honestly,  I think this all is enough).

Hope all is well in your little corner of the world, and that you all had a very blessed Easter.

XOXO
Anne

.

Good Morning Everyone;
First of all to say that I hope you had a great weekend, and were able to get outside and breathe deeply of the Spring weather.

We did.

And found myself moved enough NOT to ignore the possibility of a garden this year, back be damned.

Like I said, I promised hell or high water, to get the old Simplicity tractor running again this year. (Methinks I shall be driving it into the ground- there seems to be no one brave enough to rebuild the engine)...

.

.

CaseyFace got tractor duty!

.

.

Notice the front bumper of the Roadmaster... lower right
Parked there, waiting for the tiller to die.
But it didn't die once as we got the garden ready!!

.

I dug out some old kohlrabis as Bobo could not bend without severe pain.
Not too sure what the tradeoff was for her,
as the tiller weighs a ton, and I do not have a hydraulic lift on it.
But we got through it too. The end justifying the means...

To me, there is nothing in the world that smells as sweet as freshly turned Spring soil either. Must be the farm girl blood in my veins.

We still have much to do to prepare this little garden. (Beginning with tilling it over again)...

So last night to have slept like a rock! (Say "YAY")!

Upon awakening this morning to know that I was up a wee bit earlier than the sun...

.

.

The leaves and blossoms on the apple trees are just beginning to bud.
.
.
I snuck a camera peek at the gardens and the fields.
(No, we do not till the darn field)...
hehehe
Can you imagine if we had to do that???
.
.

To see this all, (even though it killed my back), was such a grand way to wake up.

.

.

But the camera pulled in a downward move...
(as did my thoughts),
And centered on this...
.
.
Oh that's right.
It did it to me again...
She died.
And I left her right where she was too.

Yes, I will be getting it going once more today...
(just 'later').
.
.

And life goes on...

Wishing you all a magnificent week!

Love to all!

XOXO,
Anne

Good Morning All;

Hope you are having a lovely weekend! And thank you to all who have braved enough of this site to leave me a few comments. (Just wish Yahoo would get their act together already)!

If I had time, I would blog today.

****I would tell you how very dreary it has been of late.
I know plenty of you have had it much worse than dark, dreary and rainy.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all; and especially those families who have lost loved ones to these violent Spring storms.

****I would tell you that we have probably found an apartment for Casey. But that is her news, and so it is her blogging to do. (Mostly).

****I would tell you that other people in Suamico have been MUCH busier than I...
This dork even stole a bus!
WTH?
...Talk about a farcical sense of desperation.
(Do the click thing).
Do you think that is too much alcohol?
(Maybe he had two for the road)?

****AND, I would tell you each to have a Wunnaful Weekend!

Love to all!

My First Daffodil of the Year!
('bout time too)...

.

.

Good Morning All;

As you can see, Spring is here; but it just does not 'feel' like it yet.

.

.

Cnv2514..........Cnv2512
The other flowers are 'trying' just as hard to add a bit of color too.

.

.

And since it is supposedly Spring, Casey and I took a little trip to Green Acres Greenhouses.
We picked up just a few plants to replace a few that Winter killed...
But the best thing was that there was barely anyone there when we went.
(This gave me great photo ops)... hehehe

.

.

What you see in the background is maybe about 5% of the place.

.

.

.The turtle and the iguana...
.
.
.
And now, MY personal favorite...
.
.
hehehe

This is Walter.

His honeybunch in the background;
protecting their newly hatched babies...
Sorry, but Mr. Walter was VERY stubborn and would not move.

.

.

Not too much other news from Flintville.

Miss Punk was a bit chilly the other morning,
stealing an old housecoat...
.
.
.
.
So before our walk, Casey warmed the dogs up well...
.
.
As they both vie for the ball off the roof of the shed.
Note: Never bet against Miss Milly,
(even when it looks like Punk will get that ball)!
"Looks" ARE very deceiving...
.
.
Of course, Mama Milly is much like Speedy Gonzales,
running full speed to the woods.
While Punk is left wondering why we are so slow...
.
.
.
.
Specifically Casey,
~as she threatened to turn around and go back home.

.

.

We have been apartment hunting for Casey. And yesterday, we even found some spectacular places! We will revisit a few today.
As many of you know, she needs to get to the Mayo Clinic...
(If she has a reservation address, all referrals and subsequent treatments are covered; including any/all ER visits).

In the meantime, she is trying to NOT take her pain meds. We spent last Saturday night at Bellin hospital. They said her colon is shutting down from a combination of the narcotics and her raunchy pancreas.
(Hmmm, does that make her "anal retentive" then)? hehehe...
ok, bad joke. Mea culpa.

My house is a disaster area. I was online the other night, and had the TV on in the background. There was a show about switching wives. ?
Not sure what it was even called. BUT, there was a snippy lady on there that SO put down the family she went to. Their house was a mess, and she treated it, and them, like they were lepers.
Yes, she was snooty...
In all honesty, I never even turned my head to look at it, just reaffirmed that "it takes all kinds" to make our world.
But she had to have missed the 'soul' of that family too.
I have always told people if they want to see me, to come ANYtime. But if they are coming to see my house that they should give me a 6~month notice.

Life. (It IS what happens)...

But just in case someone like her decides to grace my door, I'd better take advantage of the rainy day and at least move a few furballs to under the rugs.

Time for me to get my backside moving...

Have a 'wunnaful' Friday!

Love to all

XOXO
Anne

Good Morning Everyone!
It has been a while since I have blogged.
The dreaded "blogstipation" and all else...
That, and the fact that I do not trust Yahoo anymore.
Kind of a depressing thought...
Wish other sites worked a bit better too.
Seems none are too 'dial~up' friendly. But there are no other options out here for me unless I win the lotto! hehehe Oh well.

I have my mower deck on the Cub Cadet!!!
Many thanks to friends John, and his daughter Brandy, who came and changed out the snowplow for the mower. They had also put the snowplow on last Fall.
Me? I am not taking any chances with this back of mine.

.

.

John and Brandy Pryes...

.

.

I am not even sure how long it took them. They came as we were leaving last Friday to get the shot for my head. When we got back home they were gone, and the deck was on.
I am thinking that I will be using this deck fairly soon too.
I have places that the grass is easily about 6" high, and other places that there is but ½" of new growth.
I will have to level that out.
Mother Nature will help me out with this soon.

We got that snow yesterday. It didn't stick around for long.
But I woke this morning to frost on the cars.
It is currently about 31°...
(Good grief, would the real Spring please stand up)?
At least the sun is out?!?

I want to get the garden tilled out too. Maybe tomorrow morning I can get to that. That is, if the old Simplicity tractor will run for me. hehehe I shall fight with that one today and get it ready to till yet another season. Failing that, I will make a phone call or two...

Serving us all from his place in the United States Military, he is now on his way to Iraq.
He has added NOT to write until mid~May. Guess that will be when they all get settled enough to receive mail.
As with everything here, I am going to go one step further and
ask that you write to him also.
His address:

. Remember, not til Mid-May

Please keep our young man in your hearts, your thoughts, and your prayers. (And please forward his address to those that you think might write to him, or maybe even send a cookie or two)!

.

Special thanks to Connie~Beep for the above prayer.

.

My computer is acting up bigtime.
Yahoo has asked me repeatedly to sign back into its mail, but will not bring up the verify screen either. Grrrr....
I'd better close before it decides to not post this entry.
And then it will be time for a reboot.
(Methinks it's time for Yahoo to reboot).

I hope you are having a grand week, and that it is warm at least where YOU are.

Love to all.

Good Afternoon!

Yes. OK, it really is not snowing.
Not yet anyway.
They might have it predicted for tomorrow or Monday.
(Not sure, I didn't care to see that far into the future).
But it is SO windy today, (hence my new blast for you)!

The blast has the link to Baby Mariahs Caring Bridge website. (or CLICK here on the red)...
Her mama has posted their address so we can all send Miss Mariah a birthday card. (I shall also get her big sisters birthday so she doesn't feel left out).
Please lets make these birthdays perfect for them...

Due to the shot I received for my head yesterday morning, I got to sleep throughout all the bad weather last night.
~~Happy, happy; ~~joy, joy!!!
Having minor recollections of things that may/may not have happened too.
I think at one point that Casey was asking me for a shopping list. And I believe that Randy bought the wrong furnace filter too. No big deal, really; until you take into consideration that the wind gusts are sucking the heat right out of my house... I have turned the heat up twice today. No more though. It is already 67 in the house, and that should be nice enough for anyone.

Back to the above picture.
A bluebird house.
And usually we have either bluebirds or tree swallows in it. (Sometimes a "mowiss" family in winter too)!

The other day I was out walking...

.

.
And got chattered at and chirped at by Mr. Bluebird himself!
("Scolded" is probably a more accurate word).

Isn't he gorgeous???

And I could get fairly close to him
because he was keeping vigil over his Missus...
...she was quite busy herself,
picking out the perfect decor for their new home!
.
.

.

.

They paid no attention to the darned chipmunk/gopher either...
.
.

She was just headed toward my garden
and looking tired from being ever so pregnant!
.
.
Damnable varmints...
And she will probably give birth to 1000 or so next week.
OK not that many,
but then THEY give birth to their thousand or so.

.

.

But it's Punks job,
(and she well knows it too),
to keep those varmints at bay for me.

.

.

She found a hole out in the field...
.
.
.
And began to dig...
.
.
Bad angle for her so she changed her strategy...
.
.
.
.
.
.
She dug some more, before sniffing the hole out...
.
.
.
.
"Hello"???
.
.
.
.
"Anybody home"???
.
.
.
.
I said "HELLO?"

.

.

Nothing doing with a hole the skunk had dug last year before relocating.
So we went back to the woods to catch up with Mama Milly,
who was already doing her own detective work...
.
.
Having found her own hole to invade down by the river!
.
.
Both dogs came up empty handed...
(But it's so much fun to watch)!
Besides, KC always needs target practice!
.
.
A few irises up by the house have dared to come up...
.
.
With Mamas Wire Chicken Basket in the background.

.

.

My chives, (regular and garlic),
are ready and waiting to become taste on my taters!

.

.

Speaking of food...
It is high time for me to be chowing down here.
SO hungry!

Have a wunnaful weekend! (And don't forget Baby Mariah)!

XOXO
Anne

PS
I am attaching the pic I received in an email from my sister~
~~~for those of you that couldn't read the Sarcasma note...
.
