{Some} Old White Men REALLY SUCK. (It's a rant).

Good Morning All;
I am back inside; after trying to mow a bit. I did. Then threw the belt... It is WAAAAY too bloody hot to try to put it back on right now, so I shall wait a bit and take advantage of my very premature 'break' as it is...
hehehe
I am actually beginning to feel overheated already! Go figure...

Hope all is well with everyone else.

We had quite a 'trying' week here. Both for Casey and myself.

On Monday Casey had an appointment at the clinic for 7AM, and has some infection in her teeth. The dentist (because of her history) sent her off to another dental dentist/surgeon. This 1st dentist not even prescribing an antibiotic, even though he was repeatedly told she has no spleen. WTF?
So she calls this referral; the other dentist.
Understandably, he won't prescribe without seeing her first- and had an available appointment for her on the 29th. Whew.
Oh, but wait!!!!
We had misheard.
It was the 29th, (of August)!!!
Not even close enough; nope, not by a long shot. She had even informed the staff there about her absent spleen. They cared not one whit about that. -
Now, please keep in mind that Casey and I watched Randy have a stroke in front of us, and due to the fact that he hadn't sought treatment for an infected tooth!!!! The infection traveling to his heart, setting in on his mitral valve. He was fine until a little piece of infection/vegetation had broken off and settled in his brain. It was an awful morning here as we waited for the rescue squad and the cops to get here.  Grrr...
But I digress...

So Casey ended up calling her GP- At least HE prescribed her something, sight unseen- and who probably also had a few words with that first dentist. (They are in the same building).
* If you read my "note" from Friday, then you know that Casey still ended up at the hospital...

But, back to Monday.
I also had a pain management appointment at 10:30AM. Casey came with and even came in with me.


We left there about 11:30. Which meant that we had time to pick up a few groceries at the local pantry.
Coming out of there, we saw an old man, raising his cane to a young girl- About 20 years old. She had her brother with her as he was to babysit for her while she went to an interview. (And we all know that when one has an interview, it is of the highest priority in this day and age)!

Background info: They have a driveway at the pantry that would fit at least 2½ semi/rigs through it at the same time. (They are only open 2 hours/day).
For their customers, they have parking on the road only- And in a shared parking lot kitty~corner across the street.  (And only one handicapped parking spot off the road close to their door, and where we were parked); although there are 2 more spots further away from the building. This young girl had pulled up to stop just short of the yellow line painted on the curb. This took up maybe 2 or 3 feet past where their driveway begins... She had a bitty car.
This girl, young and just a beautiful Mexican/white, or Mulatto perhaps, along with her brother, were putting their groceries in their car, when this old fart starts swearing at her to move her "GD fu*K*%g car" this minute, raising his cane and threatening her.

Aside from those threats, he'd also had many racial slurs to toss her way.

She pulled the car forward to appease him, and by then was into the yellow curb by the same driveway.
THEN, he did it all over again because he claimed she was in the handicapped spot.
She was not! I was.
Casey had pretty much immediately called Randy who was on duty by then. He had her call Green Bay, as he works for the county, not the city... Before she called GB, she warned the old fart she was calling the cops.
At first he waved her off with his cane. Then he told her "I am the cops", and not to bother.
BS- He would provide no ID. She called the city number anyway; telling the operator everything that had transpired and been said- and what was still going on. The girl, by this time was scared shitless by him; and witless about missing her interview. I told her just to go, that we would take care of this old piece of white trash. I also told her that NO ONE ever has the right to talk to her like that. She was crying, but she did leave.
 
About 5 minutes later an unmarked lieutenants car and a marked Green Bay police car pull up. Each from different directions. Casey hung up and called Randy back telling him that our help were there. Keep in mind Randy then kept her on the phone just in case anything else happened.

Did they ask US what had happened? No.
They walked over the pantry people, where the old fart with the cane was; (and where management had come out. Then the cops simply walked away.
What?
I said, "Oh hey, don't you want to know our side of the story? None of those other people had been out there to witness anything."

After the lieutenant had turned to holler "NO" at me, they went and spoke with each other across the street.

But they did come back. Casey, still on the phone, was told to hang up (she put the phone on the seat next to her), and asked if they were going to arrest that man. The lieutenant said no, that the old man had denied everything. The younger cop then asked Casey if she wanted to be arrested for calling in a false police report.
What the hell?

I told that younger asshole that I would be going downtown to receive a written report on all what had transpired, and to make sure he wrote it honestly.  (I do know how these guys operate. I also know the consequences for writing a dishonest incident report). God help me, but I so wanted to tell him that as he had also threatened me for getting in~between the old fart and the girl.
Bullshit. ANYONE would have done the very same thing I did. A little piece of lady had tried to stand up to, but was really against that old bastard with a weapon. and an awful mouth. Newsflash for him, I could have taken him (hell, I had a cane too), with NO cane and one hand behind my back no matter how much pain I was in. I promise you that!

But apparently we were only to watch and wait to see the little girl get the hell beat out of her. That will never happen, no matter the consequences, not while I am seeing it go down. And yes, I did tell deputy whatever he is, exactly that.
The "L" jumped in telling me that he saw no blood, no broken teeth etc. (I showed him mine after I told him he sounded exactly like the ignorant cops that had responded back when my 1st husband used to beat the living shit out of me. Then again, in that day and age, I was told it was my fault. Yes, very flippantly I showed him my own teeth.
He claimed he needed to see blood. (*The * effin' *hell * he* did*)! Though dammitallanyway, I didn't say that. I regret not saying it.

In the meanwhile, Randy had asked Casey for him to be able to speak with one of the city boys. (Since city cops hate county, (and vice-versa), the "L" declined, as did his little chipmunk).
Casey remained on the line, crying not only from her godawful .pain, but because she was very afraid to be arrested. Thankfully, Randy assured her it would not happen.
They took our ID's - I told the younger that Randy's info is on the back, and to make a note of it. He said he wouldn't, that he didn't care.

We finished packing up our own groceries and left.
Casey clearly needed to gather her own wits and get her heart-rate down, so we stopped off at one of my the stations I used to manage...
Still pissed I am!
"You are not welcome back here, and if we see you again, you will be arrested. (That from a person standing close behind me- I had not sat down yet- who is the GM of the pantry, and of the St. Vincent de Paul Society in GB).
I knew the voice, recognizing it almost immediately even though he had been talking to my back... hehehe 
When finally I had turned after his little tirade, he realized exactly "who" I was. (He once worked for a local distributor, [L.A. Edlbeck], and I had used his company for my stores for many many years). Meeting my eyes, he slowly hung his head, turned, and walked away- My glare burning into his back- He HAD to have felt it.
Later that little a-hole cop had told me that the mgr had changed his mind.
Craig, knows how to find me so I impatiently await the call or the letter of apology. (Either of which I promise you, I *will* receive).
They came back presently with our licenses. And told us to leave. I reminded them again i would be needed to see the incident report. Younger boy cop did then ask for Randy's number.
End of story. I have not yet sufficiently cooled down to go downtown to pick up that report. But I promise to cool off soon.
Dirty bastards.

Ya'all know by now being idle is not my middle name... Nor is it CaseyAnne's.

My question is, would you be able to watch someone WHO IS CLEARLY at a disadvantage, get beaten and/or killed?

It Gets Even Worse on Social Studies

State Board of Education member Don McLeroy, R-College Station, is circulating new changes he wants to make to proposed social studies curriuclum standards for Texas public schools. We didn’t think next week’s state board meeting on the standards could get any worse than what happened in March. But McLeroy’s proposed new changes have disabused us of that hopeful thought. We just issued the following press release:

New changes a Texas State Board of Education member wants to make to proposed curriculum standards represent a stunning rewrite of American history on issues ranging from religious freedom to civil rights and would politicize public school classrooms, the president of the Texas Freedom Network said today.

“Even at the eleventh hour, board members are trying to rewrite history and promote political agendas in our kids’ classrooms,” TFN President Kathy Miller said.
“The education of our schoolchildren should be based on the work of academic experts and scholars, not the political biases and fringe ideas of dentists, realtors and other politicians on the state board.”

Don McLeroy, a Republican board member from College Station, has circulated to board colleagues changes he plans to recommend next week when the board resumes debate over proposed new curriculum standards for social studies.

*** Among the changes McLeroy wants to make:

• Add a standard to the eighth-grade U.S. history course that maintains separation of church and state was not the intent of the Founders who drafted the Constitution and Bill of Rights: “Contrast the Founders’ intent relative to the wording of the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause and Free Exercise Clause, with the popular term ‘Separation of church and state.’”

• Strike from a standard in the high school U.S. history course a 1948 court decision, Delgado v. Bastrop ISD, that barred segregation of students of Mexican descent in Texas public schools.
  
  • McLeroy proposes replacing that decision with 2009 Supreme Court employment discrimination decision involving white firefighters in Connecticut (Ricci v. DeStefano) and a 2005 decision dealing with the government’s powers of eminent domain (Kelo v. City of New London).

• Change a high school U.S. history standard to downplay the positive impact of Progressive Era reforms and suggest that the work of the era’s reformers like Upton Sinclair, Susan B. Anthony, Ida B. Wells and W.E.B. DuBois created a negative portrayal of America.

• Add a standard to high school U.S. history requiring students to “evaluate efforts by global organizations to undermine U.S. sovereignty.”

• Add a standard to high school U.S. history having students “discuss alternatives regarding long term entitlements such as Social Security and Medicare, given the decreasing worker to retiree ratio.”

Proposed changes like these make it even more important that the board delay a final vote on the standards and appoint a panel of real academic experts and classroom teachers to review changes board members have made since January, Miller said.

FBI Arrests Three in Raids on Militias

Official Says Suspects Face Gun Charges after Raids in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana

(AP)  The FBI said Sunday that agents conducted weekend raids in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio and arrested at least three people, and a militia leader in Michigan said the target of at least one of the raids was a Christian militia group.

Federal warrants were sealed, but a federal law enforcement official speaking on condition of anonymity said some of those arrested face gun charges and officials are pursuing other suspects.

FBI spokeswoman Sandra Berchtold said there had been activity in two southeast Michigan counties near the Ohio state line. She wouldn't say whether they were tied to the raids in the other states.

FBI spokesman Scott Wilson in Cleveland said agents arrested two people Saturday after raids in two Ohio towns. A third arrest made in northeast Illinois on Sunday stemmed from a raid Saturday just over the border in northwest Indiana, both part of an ongoing investigation led by the FBI in Michigan, according to a statement from agents in Illinois.

George Ponce, 18, who works at a pizzeria next door to a home raided in Hammond, Ind., said he and a few co-workers stepped outside for a break Saturday night and saw a swarm of law enforcement.

"I heard a yell, 'Get back inside!' and saw a squad member pointing a rifle at us," Ponce said. "They told us the bomb squad was going in, sweeping the house looking for bombs."

He said another agent was in the bushes near the house, and law enforcement vehicles were "all over." He estimated that agents took more than two dozen guns from the house.

Michael Lackomar, a spokesman for the Southeast Michigan Volunteer Militia, said one of his team leaders got a frantic phone call Saturday evening from members of Hutaree, a Christian militia group, who said their property in southwest Michigan was being raided by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

"They said they were under attack by the ATF and wanted a place to hide," Lackomar said. "My team leader said, 'no thanks.' "

The team leader was cooperating with the FBI on Sunday, Lackomar said. He said SMVM wasn't affiliated with Hutaree, which states on its Web site to be "prepared to defend all those who belong to Christ and save those who aren't."

"We believe that one day, as prophecy says, there will be an Anti-Christ," the group's Web site said. "Jesus wanted us to be ready to defend ourselves using the sword and stay alive using equipment.

An e-mail sent to the group by The Associated Press wasn't returned Sunday, and phone numbers for the group's leadership were not immediately available. Berchtold, the FBI spokeswoman in Michigan, said she couldn't confirm if the raids were connected to Hutaree.

Lackomar said none of the raids focused on his group. Lackomar said about eight to 10 members of Hutaree trained with SMVM twice in the past three years. SMVM holds monthly training sessions focusing on survival training and shooting practice, Lackomar said.

In Michigan, police swarmed a rural, wooded property around 7 p.m. Saturday outside Adrian, about 70 miles southwest of Detroit, said Evelyn Reitz, who lives about a half-mile away. She said several police cars, with lights flashing, were still there Sunday evening and 15 to 20 officers were stationed in the area.

Neighbor Jane Cattell said she came home from the movies Saturday night and a helicopter was circling above, its spotlight illuminating her house. She and her sister, Sarah Holtz, wouldn't say who lived in the home but said they knew them from riding their horses past their house.

"They're your average, nice neighbors," Holtz said.

There were rumors about ties to a militia, but Holtz she knew nothing of that from her interaction with them.

One of the raids in Ohio occurred at Bayshore Estates, a trailer park in Sandusky, a small city on Lake Erie between Toledo and Cleveland, park manager Terry Mills said. Authorities blocked off the street for about an hour Saturday night, he said.

"Needless to say, this has everyone talking," said Mills, 62. "We have a lot of retirees here who don't want all this commotion."

Mills said he didn't know the identity of the person arrested.

FBI agents in Ohio also made an arrest in Huron on Saturday night, Wilson said. No further information would be released until after they appeared in court Monday, he said.

A Little Food For Thought...

Essay:  "A Day In The Life of Joe Conservative"
This essay is an original work by some guy.

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee.

• The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards.

With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication.

• His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised.

• All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance -- now Joe gets it, too.

He prepares his morning breakfast: bacon and eggs.

• Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo.

• His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained.

Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath.

• The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air.

He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to the subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work.

• It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day.

• He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union.

If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed,

• he'll get a worker compensation or unemployment checks because some stupid liberal didn't think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

It is noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills.

• Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.

• Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime.
  
  • Joe also forgets that in addition to his federally subsidized student loans, he attended a state funded university.

Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive.

• His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards to go along with the taxpayer funded roads.

He arrives at his boyhood home.

• His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans.
  
  • The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification.

He is happy to see his father, who is now retired.

• His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to.

Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show.

• The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good.
  
  • He doesn't mention that the beloved conservatives have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day.

Joe agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have."

Note: This was originally published (anonymously) under the title A Day in the Life of Joe Republican.
But this is a misnomer. In the last 140 years, the Republican and Democratic parties have switched sides several times, with one being conservative and the other being liberal.

But labels and party affiliations change.

• What doesn't change are the underlying political philosophies of liberalism and conservatism, and the fact that the liberals usually turned out to be right and the conservatives turned out to be wrong.

... And so it goes.

* This is where it truly gets scary.

A Day in the Life of a True Conservative

Joe Conservative wakes up in the morning and goes to the bathroom.

He flushes his toilet and brushes his teeth, mindful that each flush & brush costs him about 43 cents to his privatized water provider. His wacky, liberal neighbor keeps badgering the company to disclose how clean and safe their water is, but no one ever finds out.

• Just to be safe, Joe Conservative boils his drinking water.

Joe steps outside and coughs–the pollution is especially bad today, but the smokiest cars are the cheapest ones, so everyone buys ‘em. Joe Conservative checks to make sure he has enough toll money for the 3 different private roads he must drive to work. There is no public transportation, so traffic is backed up and his 10 mile commute takes an hour.

On the way, he drops his 12 year old daughter off at the clothing factory she works at. Paying for kids to go to private school until they’re 18 is a luxury, and Joe needs the extra income coming in.

• Times are hard and there are no social safety nets.

He gets to work 5 minutes late and misses the call for Christian prayer, and is immediately docked by his employer.

• He is not feeling well today, but has no health insurance, since neither his employer nor his government provide it, and paying for it himself is really expensive, since he has a precondition. He just hopes for the best.

Joe’s workday is 12 hours long, because there is no regulation over working hours, and Joe will lose his job if he complains or unionizes.

• Today is an especially bad day. Joe’s manager demands that he work until midnight, a 16 hour day. Joe does, knowing that he’ll lose his job if he does not.

Finally, after midnight, Joe gets to pick up his daughter and go home. His daughter shows him the deep cut she got on the industrial sewing machine today.

• Joe is outraged and asks why she doesn’t have metal mesh gloves or other protection. She says the company will not provide it and she’ll have to pay for it out of her own pocket. Joe looks at the wound and decides they’ll use an over the counter disinfectant and bandages until it heals. She’ll have a scar, but getting stitches at the emergency room is expensive.

His daughter also complains that the manager made suggestive overtures towards her.

• Joe counsels her to be a “good girl” and not rock the boat, or she’ll get fired and they’ll be out the income.

His daughter says she can’t wait until she’s 18 so she can vote for change or go to the Iraq War.

They get home and there’s a message from his elderly father who can’t afford to pay his medical or heating bills.

• Joe can hear him coughing and shivering.

Joe turns on the radio and the top story is a proposal in Congress to raise the voting age to 25.

• A rare liberal opinionator states that it’s an attempt to keep power out of the hands of working class Americans.

The conservative host immediately quashes him, calling him “a utopian idealist,” and agreeing that people aren’t mature enough to make good choices until they’re at least 25.

Joe chuckles at the wine-swilling, cheese eating liberal egghead and thinks, “Thank God I live in America where I have freedom!”

Scary, right?

Good Morning Everyone!

We have all seen those little green plus signs...

I have gotten a new one today. And an explanation to go with it. Not a nice one either. That's ok though. I do (try to), understand.

What I do not understand is dropping someone simply by an act of prejudicial politicking. And with a charge of being UN~American.

While the assumptions there made me laugh a little, I assure you they are also quite UNtrue.

~Life~

As many of you know, I was given up at birth and placed for adoption. Having done my adoption search some 20+ years ago, I have learned what I always knew in my heart to be true. A validation for what has always been an integral part of me, somehow.

I am Native American. (I could not be prouder of the blood that runs through my veins). Yet, I know more than a few people who do not appreciate this fact about me. (Goes back to "Oh Well" for me). hehehe

Raised white and northern. But by the time I was 13, to KNOW in my heart that I was not white.

Is there a bit of a clash there for me? Honestly, sometimes there is. And I stumble to find my own words to explain it when that happens... So forgive this entry today.

Native. White. American. Clash? You bet!

This past weekend, I got a bit involved in SuzyGirls blog for her blog. She had asked about racially motivated crimes, how far we have moved away from that, or if (that) was still alive and thriving somewhere, somehow...

Her words were: " So I'm wondering, help me out here...Is this merely an affliction of those in itsy bitsy towns where the great big wide world doesn't play a role?

After taking into consideration all the garbage that we DO perpetuate, (whether innocently; or worse, with intentional cruelty), my reply was this:

Hi Sweet Suzy;
I have a sister, born in the U.P. of Michigan, and raised in Alabama since she was 2 or 3.
There is a whole different world down south.
Not only of the white or the black mans making.
Of both.
It is a dark perpetuation of evil is all.

And yet, it almost seems 'natural' to them (both)--- for lack of a better; or more appropriate word.

But, as Americans, WE all perpetuate this ongoing animosity.
Do away with the black colleges, the NAACP, the rest of it all.
Live together as we were meant to... somehow.

As a "Damn Yankee" to almost everyone in the deep south, I am here to tell you that the Mason~Dixon Line is alive and well.
But "down there" only.
I know of very little of that KKK or the like up here. (And no, I really don't live under THAT big of a rock).

My sister in Alabama is a beautiful soul. And having her down south has given me the opportunity to have a reason to travel there. To visit herself, and later to visit my lovely grandson, Lawrence.

During those trips, most of the "Damn Yankee" things that come my way, were/are uttered in jest, although there have been a few times that they absolutely were not. These, by complete strangers (who have apparently failed or ignored all sorts of History classes). "The WAR" has been over for almost 150 years, folks. And even the 1960's should have ended 40~some years ago...

Sadly, neither of these things have gone away. Not in their entirety.

But then I have to ask myself, does this make me a bigot somehow by blasting the NAACP, (or anyone else that would come to the defense of the pathetic Michael Vick)?

What he did was not, and IS not, a race issue!

Nor is it an issue of gambling (in my opinion).

My own opinion there is that I was, (and AM), outraged by his treatment of these animals; not only how they lived, but even more~so by the way they died. By his hand, by his orders, etc etc etc... the dogs lived a life of violence and degradation. They died exactly the same way. Only the ones that remain will know a more peaceful death at the hands of the vet; to be put to sleep because they were raised too violent to be adopted.

With the obvious exception of Vick himself, (and those like him), I did not mean to offend any people, or peoples, by my thoughts. To do so would certainly only perpetuate the ignorance that is part/parcel of (some) peoples lives. Being Native myself, and thus a minority, why would I do that in the first place? Makes no sense to me. (I try not to be too hypocritical)...

As I said before I did not mean to offend. If you have taken offense, please don't do that anymore. There are good/bad peoples of all religions, races, genders, ages, etc etc etc. We all know this to be a fact.

Have I "judged" those actions? Yes, I have. And those judgements are MY opinions. They do not have to be yours. I am not here to change peoples minds. I am neither that narrow minded, nor am I that enterprising.
