I Go Out Walking...

Yes. This is Wisconsin.
Yes this is mid-March...
T-o-o-o-o-o-o-o  very  C-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-L!
Temps to remain 30+° above average for the next week!

Good Morning All;
What a grand Winter season this has been for us!
Any snow that flies past now, though nasty, will be gone shortly-
And with that brings a HUGE sigh of relief.

I went to pick up dog food last Friday- And had this amazing thought that maybe Petco would have an opening in their grooming for Punk- as a walk-in.

They did. (And oh boy, was Punk pissed).
She hates baths there.
Loves showers here though.
She was so beautiful when Casey picked her up!

As expected, Kelli and kids came on Sunday...

Mr Miller took Sputty for a walk... hehehe

Mr. Miller and Sput
So cute they are!

Then Miller and Coco began butting heads....

All the kids

OK. Not really.
But first glance sure looked like that when I saw the picture come up!
hehehe

What they were into is anybody's guess.
It wasn't pretty either; especially after they rolled in it -and Mr Miller had some hanging off his ear.

Of a sudden, it occurred to us that Miss Punk had disappeared on us...

Down by the river-
but not yet in it, thank God!

Punk- Whew- Stopped in time

She came back up with not a mark on her!  Say "Yay!"
Whew... Still nice and clean!

We walked a bit.
Kelli had to hold up a tree or three. (She had cleaned the barns on Saturday and was a little more than sore).

We walked. Chatted for a while.
We even tried to watch Miss Coco-  An impossible task.  hehehe
She moves fast.  And keeps going...
(That is why there are no pictures of her sitting pretty). And it's not going to happen with this dog, she has way too much energy!

We came out of the campgrounds...

Lake Flintville- Punk takes a break. Grrr

Dammit!
Wait, Laying on the ice is really no big problem- She would just get wiped off and brushed when we got back to the house.
Still....

We headed home.

Sputty always lags behind.
We spy him wandering about the "World's Biggest Sandbox"

Sputty- Worlds biggest litterbox.

Too funny!
He took his darn time- And still almost beat us two back home!

While we were walking I had told Kelli that I would not want to attempt to walk back there alone. She knows my luck, as you know it also.
I would probably choose then to fall down ... and lay there 'til Summer.

BUT... Then again... There are a few things that I just cannot give up...

With yesterday's beautiful temps, I thought I would try to do just that.
Of course Mr. Sputnik always comes along too.  He raced right by me, knowing it would take a while for me to catch up.
Then he lay down and...

Joy!
Over and over and over again!

Oh! That sunshine felt SO good!

I caught up to him, and nuzzled his tummy with my cane. We played for a few seconds before I turned to see Miss Punk waiting for me up ahead.
Just laying there.

SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE OF A DAMN MUD PUDDLE!!!!

I just turned around and began the walk home...
What a PIG!

I love me!
ugh...  But she seems to love her new perfume.
It's an eclectic mixture of Spring dirt and fertilizer of the local, natural variety.
... Most specifically the Registered Holstein!

I could have screamed!  (I chose to cuss instead).

As she tried to ignore me Sputty had to go rub it in that she'd gotten in trouble.

"She is too talking to YOU!"

Her belly - - - just black!  And soaked!
Double- Ugh.

Knowing that a gentle pat was a long way off, she ran off ahead and got her Frisbee.
I believe she thinks that I love her Frisbee as much as she does.
She shares her toys with us lots; especially when one is feeling down, (or just downright uglymad).

Wanna play then?

Yeah. OK. So she's cute. What of it? hehehe

Alone, I had made it about a third of the way back to the woods before I'd turned around.
And it's probably a good thing, (if there is a silver lining) that Punk had chosen to go lay in the mud.  After those 2 days of 'hiking', my back is a little more than sore.
But I am still upright and quite capable.

Casey will be coming out today.
I told her to wear/bring shorts.
Mmmmm
Lovin' this weather!
Such a special treat in March for us!
Going to be a treat waiting for Punk in the shower too!
Though what didn't wipe and brush off has now turned to dust, she could do with a good rinsing off. (And a bucket of Cedar or Patchouli Oil). hehehe

I'd better close for now and get my backside in the shower.  Smiley showering

I shall also try to get my little mound of dishes done before Casey gets here.

Hope all is well with everyone!
Enjoy this awesome day- but do stay out of the mud!

XOXO

Wanna Go For a Walk?

Good Morning All!
Chilly today- Highs to be in the 60's for the next week or so. Lows in the 40's. Brrr... (but just a little "brrr" -as I adjust to the change in weather).
Crap, Winter is coming....

Before resting to watch that great Packer game with Casey on Sunday, I had made 3 separate trips around the fields...
When the sun was high, I brought the camera along too-

I noted more damage by our deer herd.

This first picture is of my own squash plants...

Deer damage

A pretty close, straight, cut.
(Those darned deer must have some really sharp teeth this year)! hehehe

Further in back now, more deer damage.
Look at all the missing and broken corn stalks!

Venison Damage to Corn
Darn deer-
They eat the young plants while the stalks are short, and succulent. As the stalks get taller the deer just walk all over them-
I suppose in pursuit of a 'yummier' stalk up the way.

But then came the stark realization that I was witnessing things I had never seen before!

I took these first two pictures way back by the woods...

Melon

After seeing that, I saw this one as well.

Melon
WTH???
I did not do that to those poor melons!
Now I know we are really in BiG TROUBLE here

Because it sure looks to me like the dang deer have knives now! hehehe
So much for having sharp teeth...

The field hands have already removed about 5 or 6 loads of cabbages-
And there are pumpkins growing throughout those cabbage plants-

Pumpkin
hehehe   I will have to steal this one just for me!

But no matter how well those pumpkins have come up on their own this year, the harvest will never equal Blazers... (Right down the road a bit).

Pumpkins at Blazers
This represents maybe 1/10th of what was there. (And, they harvest more every day)!

Along with a wagon~load of gourds too!

Wagon Load of Gourds
These too, are harvested on a fairly regular schedule...

But I digress...
...Back to our walk-

Below is just a bunch of weeds and cabbage-

Goldenrod across the field
With a bit of goldenrod in the background- I thought it pretty!

Punk goes straight to my old "climbing tree"-  She seems to love this tree almost as much I do!

Punk- Posing
Then she poses pretty for the camera!  Such a ham!   hehehe

My dryer is calling me once again, so I'd better close for now-
Just thought I would share one of my daily ventures with everyone!
And after that, I am going to rest a while.

Here's hoping all is well in your little corner of the world.

XOXO
Me

PS
Top photo is for those of us in Wisconsin, (among a few other states), that are holding their primaries today.
Go do it!

How's Your Imagination? ;-)

Good Morning All;
I have my computersaurus up and running! (Thank you Mr. Greg)!
With that. I might also have a few pictures to share! hehehe

I still try to walk to the woods- I don't make it every day though.  And now have done something to my ankle as well. Dang bones! I'll live though.

Punk needs her exercise too- And our weather has finally turned dang cold. As I type it is 23° But the sun shines very bright. That, in and of itself, warms the soul on these days. Not sure what our high is to be today, but for those of you who have already blanketed yourselves at the
23° reading, know that our highs for mid week next are to be in the teens. (Now that's even chilly for me)!

Here are a few pics from the last walk we took.
Since it is late, you will have to write your own captions! hehehe
Have to run for now!

Love to all

XOXO
Me

Life. Liberty. And Fur.

A little Sunday sunrise....
.
.
Good Morning All;
I know I haven't blogged in a while- My apologies once again. Having little else to say, save for whining about my back and being unable to do much with it, and feeling sorry for myself... Well, what's the point in sharing that?
Of that, I do have the highest praise for those of you who 'take' this pain. I don't know how my Little Casey, or Sweet Pea for that matter, live with such agony all the time. Please tell me how, because I fail miserably at times.

Fall is here. Not that the temps have been indicative of it; even today to be in the mid~70's. That's nice.  According to the forecast, know that it ends tonight.
Oh well. Nice while it lasted...

.
Cnv1326
Even these little leaves know when to turn...
.
.
The pool is down. But not before a little bobbing for apples...
.
.
.
Cnv1309
Yes. She got it. (More than a few times too)
.
.
.
Cnv1328
She wasn't happy watching the pool come down,
and being told not to go in anymore.
.
.
So we took a walk...  Sputnik too.
Putting her noise to good use, and especially after most of the field has been harvested, she found something that did not agree with her nose.
.
.
.
Cnv1336
It didn't agree with mine either.
.
.
.
Cnv1337
She calls it stinky, even to a dog!!!
.
.
.
Cnv1338
Sputty trying to avoid the stink
hehehe
.
.
.
I did manage to go all the way to the campgrounds.   As did "the kids"
.

Cnv1344

Sputnik does this "Follow the Leader" thing with Punk
.
.

Cnv1352

Punk is not always amused by that,
and every now and then Sput ducks...

.
.
.
Coming back home to notice a basket left behind.
.
.
.
Cnv1351
Looks lonely- old and broken.
(Hey, is that me out there)? hehehe
Well except for the lonely and the old parts.
.
.
Pretty, coming back to see those flowers against the now turning Fall colors.
.
.
Cnv1354.
.
.
And to spy something weird.
Perhaps a pumpkin?!?
I broke with reason and decided to walk across the rows to see...
.
.
.
.
Cnv1353
Looked pretty weird up close too.
So I stole it...
.
.
.
.
Cnv1355
Looks better in my house...
.
.
..

I am not decorated for Fall. Mostly Mother Nature does that for me anyway, and I am more than happy to allow her free rein!
Sad though, that I haven't any pumpkins of my own this year. I don't "do" Jack~O~Lanterns, but I do like the little bit of Fall they add to the place.
.

.
I see once more my in-box filled with Chicken Little mentality. And sending on the Baucus bill now that dares to have mention of cutting the top 10% of doctors pay by 5%. (Poor damned doctors).
Personally I don't think this 'cut' will be enough to have most decent doctors forget their oath to "first, do no harm". And if it is, then I sure don't care to visit a doctor like that.
I promise not even to try to teach those of you that are still sending this garbage on. Apparently you cannot be taught.

"Silly"
"Stupid"
&
"Chicken"

Sounds about right to me

.
If it isn't the Town Hall Mentality, it is The Chicken Licken. Of course I will continue to receive such trash from these people.
These same people who will do their posts in November about how thankful they are all for everything that God, and Life, has bestowed on them.
Do give me a break on that. Even God knows a hypocrite when He sees one.

These are the same people who try to scare older folks into believing that their government wants to kill them. The same people who do not think twice about that little commandment that says, "thou shalt not bear false witness", then either post, or forward, all the lies they can find? Guess that commandment must not apply. Then there is that Golden Rule thing. You cannot have it both ways.

And before I get too far behind before the Packers Game, I shall close. Is it wrong that the win/loss thing does not bother me?  Maybe next week it will.

Have you seen the Brett Favre Sears commercial? I almost fell out of my chair laughing!  Yes, he still has his sense of humor. His arm too.

I have to get my apple cranberry chops in the oven to eat for halftime!  Hungry already. So time to fly!

Hope all is well with everyone. Tonight my furnace will turn on...

Love to all

XOXO
Me

Still Spring?

  magnify

Good Morning All;
I hope you are all safe from the nasty storms that have been all over. Again, we have been very lucky so far. (That may change today according to my forecast). We are to be in the mid 80's, and already a 70% humidity.
Hope everyone is safe from the terrible temperatures too. Too many 90, 100+ temps all over.
My heart goes out to anyone that has to work outside in these temps; and to those of you that have to work inside without a bit of air conditioning too.

Way back when I was married, my husband worked at a paper mill in Green Bay- He still does, just that conditions have changed a bit since. Back before they built the new mill, the temps in the building would go over 130 degrees in the heat (from both the weather and the machines). Somehow, they all lived through it.

When I worked at the store at Wouters, I was mostly comfy, unless the "air" (or the furnace), wasn't working. But back in the kitchen (where all of my girls worked through high school), there was no A/C.
(A fan or two, and to keep the big door open so maybe a breeze would come through the screen door).
I imagine it is still bad on the busy weekend nights for the cooks and their helpers.

While we have not gotten the miserable heat, it has been sunny and warm.
I went into town the other day, leaving Punk at home because where I was going there is no shade. It gets hot in a car very quickly and I am not taking a chance like that. Nor do I want to be leaving windows open- Someone would probably steal her.

That same line of thinking should apply to children, don't you think?
That was not the case as we came out of Woodmans after doing our grocery shopping. I had opted for drive up because of my back, and the fact that Casey has not been feeling well. As we got in the car she said, "Mom, there's a kid in that car!"

WTH???

Sure enough...

Cnv0272
Tucked on the floor, in the front seat...
With the windows open.
God, he could have been taken -
and halfway to Milwaukee before the lady came out.

I called Randy- He was on duty, but a ways away too.-
Casey went back into the store to inform the manager
.
The manager came out, taking down the license plate number as well.

.
.
Cnv0274

Unfortunately, (or fortunately), the woman left before Randy got there.

.
.
I just wish people would take care of their kids. This woman clearly didn't care!
Not sure if anything happened to her. But I sure as hell hope so.

An FYI for you all...
Temps in the mere 50's with sunshine on an enclosed vehicle can heat a car to 100+ degrees in a very short while.

Speaking of 100 degrees, Prattville, Alabama is to be hitting the 100's for the next few days. Thankfully Grandma Gaither has a pool.
My son in law William called a few days ago-
My grandson Lawrence is on the Swim Team, and has gotten all GREAT grades this year too! (Think Straight A's)!
He will be in the 5th grade next year- I am so proud of him!
He is 9 this year. And getting more and more handsome all the time too!

He is also learning how to handle the guns in a good way. (Thank you William)!

Back to Wisconsin...
Jenne took Isaiah and Punk to the woods yesterday afternoon.

Cnv0275
Rather, Isaiah and Punk took Jenne to the woods!
hehehe

Cnv0280
Isaiah thought the toidy in the woods was pretty cool
.
.
(And Punk accidentally fell in the river)...

.
Cnv0279

Dirty as the river is right now, all stirred up from rain, she needed a bath.
Which she got. hehehe

Casey has just gotten here. Jenne and Isaiah are up, (and I'd best get in the shower before no one wants to talk to me)! hehehe

Have a fantabulous Friday!

Oops... As promised:

A half of a cookie holder form the deli, with all four corners cut.
I've only seen one try to get up there.
He failed miserably, as he grabbed and tumbled right back down!
