[My] Life in Wisconsin

Puppy Paws and The Banshee Unleashed!

Good Morning All...

EXPECT WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS AROUND 45 MPH THROUGH THIS MORNING. A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT SUSTAINED WINDS OF 30 MPH OR GREATER...OR WIND GUSTS OF 45 MPH ARE EXPECTED. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION.

To have looked at my forecast after coming on the computer, (and after 'hearing' what was going on outside), I see that my trip to the store will be under the yellow caution flag... hehehe I shall take the backroads and avoid any empty semis! But I do love to hear the wind on the old tin roof above my head in the bedroom. I don't know why that is so comforting; guess because I have heard it for almost my whole life! And no, the roof is not going to fly off anytime soon; it just has a whip~ripple sound when it is windy...

I also have heard on the news that my little corner of the world might possibly be "IN FOR" a major storm this weekend... Cowards that the weathermen are up here, not one channel is telling us what, exactly, WILL happen. I have heard anything from snow and rain and sleet, to BLIZZARD... Hmmmm.... (Blizzards?... me no likey)!

Yesterday though was absolutely BEAUTIMOUS! Casey and Roberta came for lunch, (and even brought their own)... Casey had to get back to school, and Berta had errands to run. When Roberta stopped back, we went out to 'play' in the sunshine, (mid 40's in February? Happily now, we'll take it)!

For some odd strange reason, it also makes the dogs very happy too! (Well, for the most part anyway)...

.

.

.........
'til Punkies paws get a bit cold... from digging in the ice from the laundry discharge...
But that was all AFTER they had SO much fun!

Miss Milly Smiling......................................Miss Punk, watching her toy

.

.

.................
Milly thieves Punkies toy...........................Berta thieves it back from Milly

.

.

.

Enough fighting over the squeak burger, and out comes the "fetch" toy...

.

.

Milly gets bored real fast; but Punkie's hanging in there!!!

.

.

and then on to Punks most favorite game...

.

.

Punk, gets her Frisbee ~and checks on Miss Mama Milly too...

.

.

Punks old frisbee, which she loves...lasted all of 5 minutes... tops. (I had buried it in a snowbank about a month ago and couldn't find it until some snow had melted)...

Now I feel so bad for her. (No, they don't sell Frisbees in Wisconsin in the wintertime).

.

.

.

Poor little Punkin.... No more Frisbee... So sad...
.

.

.

Time to find other toys then. Open the garage door, and it was time for (KC's) volleyball!

.

.

.

Waiting for the ball to drop!
And yes, Miss Punk hits it with her collarbone to send it back to Berta!
.

.

.

............
The volleyball dog!!! ..............................OH!; and Berta too!

.

.

.

Sometimes her "aim" is a little off... hehehe ~~And they both have to walk in the mud to 'fetch' that wayward volleyball; but I do think Punk could play for hours...

.

.

The look of UTTER JOY on Miss Punks face is priceless; even IF her 'aim' isn't the best!
.
.
.

Checking inside the house every few minutes to see if we would hear Master Gabriel, up from his nap, I'd gone in for something... and he was banshee screaming to high heaven! You can CLICK HERE to check Roberta's blog as to WHY he was so very upset... But as always, Grandma can find $omething to distract him for a little bit...

.

.

Yup; $20.00 bills will put a smile on anyones face!
.

.

.

Sorry that my flash didn't go off for that picture... I tried to make it a little less 'grainier' and failed; (but in my own defense, it was almost black when I'd begun)!

...And yes, babies must wear jackets and hats outside, even IF it is in the 40's... (We big babies don't though; it's way too nice for that).

Now, on to the real important stuff here...

***I get in a bit of a quandary at times, not knowing who has an OPEN blog; and whose might be private and closed. Every now and then I wish to share things that you have written and that I have read etc, but I hesitate to do so because I do not know your status. (Perhaps there is a way for me to "tell", but if there is, I do not know what it is). Would you please hit the comment button and let me know if yours is open or private. I would really appreciate knowing, because then I know if I can link to your page or not.

I'd better close, but not before a final thought for the day!

.

.

.

hehehe (And oops, I have forgotten where I've stolen it from too)...

.

.

.

Have a wondermous day!!!

XOXO
Anne!

Happy 6th Birthday Miss Valerie Shayne

Happy Birthday To You!
Happy Birthday To You!
Happy Birthday, Miss Valerie!
Happy Birthday To You!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good Morning All...
I had taken this picture of my Little Miss Valerie just before we had left to go up to Sault Ste. Marie last August... Her Dad had dropped her off; and, as you can tell, it was very warm and 'green' outside! (And Punkie was LOTS smaller too)!!!
I have been trying to catch up with a few of your blogs; (and am failing miserably at it).
As they say, "The hurrieder I go, The behinder I get!"
...But with the weather being so mild I have to get outside also. It is "in my blood" to do so... These next few days will bring on a terrible "Spring Fever" for me too, with temps in the 30's and maybe even a few 40's!!!
Spent a few hours on Sunday back in the woods. Greg was there, burning the old skunky wood and stuff; I brought the coffee, (and the Punk), back there.
Their dog, "Reggie", (a beautiful, fully~energized black poodle), loves to play in the woods as well, although until Sunday, these two dogs had not met each other...
.
.
.
Miss Punk and Mister Reggie... "Pleased to Meet You!"
Hmmmph...
.
.
.
We were SO very entertained by their antics...
.
.
.
.............
.
.
.
Running around the tractor, and then abrubtly changing directions on each other...
You just KNEW that sooner or later, there would be a major collision of sorts...
.
.
.
...And there WAS!!! hehehe
.
.
.
Just so much fun to watch them play...
.
.
And Miss Punk had to go check out a few of her favorite spots too...
.
.
.
***Milly stayed up at the house; and is still wanting to be a house dog, but only on her own terms... She comes in at night, but still wants to be out in the sunshine come morning! ...As always, she reserves the right to change her mind; (yeah, but so do I)!
.
.
And now, with the final verdict in on my Italian Spaghetti meal the other night... Yes, we serve veggies with it! And yes, you should all try it!
I have not yet killed anyone with my cooking... Even Casey and Derek lived through it!
Casey and Derek...
SO cute, aren't they?
Derek has his own 360 page...
and has written a wonderful blog about Casey!
CLICK HERE for his amazing blog entry!
.
.
While cruising through some of your blogs yesterday, I came across one from Sophie's page with a link to another page. A 360 Neighborhood Watch idea.
Being the ignoramus I am, I do not know how people 'steal' stuff on here, but just to keep us all wary of what can/does go on in this 360 World! CLICK HERE Thought it was neat... She just asks everyone to keep a watchful eye out...
.
.
Her poster- (This picture is to be shared).
.
.
And so I must close for today as I have a house to "find" ...and then perhaps some laundry and sewing to do also...
I hope everyone is having a grand Tuesday! (What happened to Monday anyway)?
XOXO
Anne
Bursting Bubbles ...and "Getting Caught"
Good Morning One and All;
I went up to bed last night after a splendid repast of Italian Spaghetti and Veggies too.
.
.
.
Hopefully this picture of our dinner looks almost as good as it tasted.
(If I do say so myself)!
.
.
.
.
Going up to bed, I had a full house... Noisy yes, but absolutely LOVELY to hear every now and then too... Waking shortly before one, there was complete and utter silence. And after so much laughter, it was hard to adjust... (like for the first 4 and a half seconds anyway)! hehehe
Joe had stopped by- A bit flaming, but makes his own clothing, and has an undeniable great sense of humor too!
(Besides any person that has "sew" much to offer with a needle and thread is more than quite alright in my book)!
.
.
.
.
Such a card he is as " The Nanny "... (Mrs. Doubtfire)!?!?
...yes, he made it himself!
.
.
.
Kelli had stopped by earlier.
A monumental birthday for her... And I will not mention ANY numbers, (suffice it to say it has something to do with the "half~century" mark)!
Look what happened when somebody mentioned a NUMBER!!!
.
.
.
Ya don't mess with the best...
The other guy looks worse!
.
.
.
Here she is with Berta yesterday...
.
.
.
(And no, she does not read this blog, so I will not have to blacken her other eye when she comes to beat me up for 'telling')!
Oh we DO have so much fun! She needed a bit of help with the horses last night; and had I not been cooking for a houseful I would have gladly helped her out. They were all going to Victorias Restaurant in Bay Settlement last night; so she was working on a deadline. Hope they got to celebrate in style!
The 17th is also my Little Lawrences Birthday- he turned 7.
And I feel badly that we could not make it down there this year, but yes, we shall go when we can- (as Mother Nature and schedules will allow)... We called down to Prattville last night during supper... And all sang "Happy Birthday" to the answering machine! Imagine they too, were out celebrating. (And my guess would be that they were at Chinese for dinner)!
And now down to the bursting of the bubbles...
At one point last night, I had mentioned something of a sexual nature. (No, it was NOT at the table)...
...But my remark was met with the same old hogwash that most children offer their parents... "Nobody wants to think of their mother having sex!"
(Boy, oh boy, oh boy, have I got news)!!!
...But, as not to incite any confusion over my 'pasgetti dinner, I calmy told Miss Casey to settle down, and that YES, I did have sex in my life- (like it or not), but added that it was only 4 times... (Namely Zoe, Jenne, Roberta and herself).
Tightwad that CaseyAnne can be, she bought NONE of it either....
.
.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Uh~Oh...
Do I feel? ...
Do I really feel a "story" coming on???
Um...
YUP!
hehehe
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
.
.
.
...When we were little, Mom and Dad took a nap each and every day. (How weird is THAT)???
Mary and I, (at about 5 and 7), were WAY TOO BIG for naps; so once we had grown out of them, we were always told to go outside and play... (so we wouldn't wake them up?)!
... Or so we thought...
One day, this really exciting thing had happened and I had come running to the house. I went up the stairs quietly as I could because I had something to tell them BUT I did not want to be waking them up either... And it was so VERY IMPORTANT too...
(Besides, Mary had told me to listen to if they were snoring or not). So I did. Hearing nothing outside their bedroom door, I opened it up; (and wanted to make sure they were awake so I could tell them the very important thing)!
BIG HUGE FREAKIN' MISTAKE ON MY PART! (I do remember thinking that it was a very strange way to take a nap though).
...But before I could utter one sound, or even make one teeny tiny word come out, I had BOTH Mom and Dad yelling at me; and telling me to "Go Away!"
What???
What the heck???
I had something to say, and doggone it, I was gonna say it...
...So, (completely ignorant of what had just happened), I opened my mouth a second time to speak...
That was my FIFTH, (and final), MISTAKE!!! (The first was coming in, 2nd was sneaking up the stairs, 3rd opening their door, and the 4th was trying to speak the first time)...
FIVE mistakes in just about as many seconds! Can ya believe it?
This was not going well for me at all. So it finally sinks in that what they were telling me was to go back outside right that very minute.
And so I did. ~And I do remember telling Mary that if we were wrestling around like that while WE were supposed to be napping that we would be in BIG trouble. She agreed.
...And the entire incident then left my mind for about the next 10~20 years or so... (as did the reason I had big news and all in the first place; that, I never did recall).
hehehe
At one point, so much later, I realized what the heck had happened all those years ago... I called Mom posthaste and told her of my own little revelation! She remembered it well! (Ya think)? And we had such a good laugh over it then!
Perhaps it was this, my own experience, or maybe just the way I am that makes me laugh about these kinds of things... But I can tell you that I have NO problem thinking of my parents in bed or having sex or whatever...
To me it makes them that much more human; and that much more happy together.
So yes kids, I've got news!!!!!
Your parents did have sex... and they probably STILL are if they are still alive.
you don't have to picture it for Petes sakes. You just have to accept it.
Deal with it.
...And be happy for them.
(But DO make as much noise as possible if you are going to surprise them with any kind of BIG NEWS)!!!
Later, was Mom embarassed when I had called her about my little epiphany? Absolutely not!
She really did think it funny! (That laughter of course, being hindsight, because they sure as heck were NOT laughing THAT day)! hehehe
And so, having been on both sides of that proverbial bedroom door in my life, I can honestly say that it is NOT funny when it happens; but in retrospect it is FREAKIN' HILARIOUS!!!
And so these are my smiles for today!
Hmmmm... .... Does anybody have anything to add???
XOXO
Anna~Anna
Brunch and "Linner"...
Really, REALLY late this morning...
Good Morning ALL;
And first to let you know that I missed y'all yesterday; having gone in for a shot for my head once more... Berta was good enough to bring me in. And Gabriel was just a perfect angel too; not screaming too loudly at any point... (Unless it was AFTER my shot, and then I think perhaps my memory fades and 'clouds~up' a bit). To be expected. And yes, my head IS better today, although I really do think my brain is bruised on the inside too.
~"Faith is being sure of what we Hope for and certain of that which we do not see." Heb. 11.1" ~
I vaguely remember Berta telling me they were leaving; going home. (But no conception of what time she told me that either)...
And another vague memory is that instead of tomorrow night, I will make dinner tonight then for everyone that cares to join us. A wiser scenario for Casey as she goes to classes early on Monday morning. But, I am thinking that this will be the only week to be able to do so because Roberta will be going back to work shortly (I think), and she works on Saturday evenings. So after this weekend, will do an early "linner" on Sundays then, 4~ish, so all will be OK with that.
Roberta should be alright at home now too. She has had her life, her energy, AND her sense of humor restored... What more is there? I shall miss them, but know that it was getting to be a bit 'long' for Master Gabriels world to be so upset and uprooted too. Missing them both already... But I really don't think that I am capable of missing those blood~curdling squeals, (which, oddly enough, he only did within earshot of his Mama). hehehe
I'd sent Berta to BK a few days ago... While she was gone, he didn't scream once... But he did rearrange my couch, and he did 'speak' to Casey too! (at least that's what came through on these pictures I'd taken)...
.
.
.
.
"Auntie Casey, are you REALLY asleep?" ...
"Cuz I want you to tell me a story about when you were young."
.
.
.
.
"Oh, that was a good story, KC, please tell me another!"
.
.
.
.
Aren't they darling?
Master Gabriel and his "Auntie" are so very close. A very good thing for them both!
My dogs are both relatively quiet for the moment, but I am sure (surely as our temps are sneaking upwards), that they will be demanding a venture to the woods to see what other trouble they can get into... besides what they have already done here. Please CLICK HERE should you desire to know what they have already done to deal with their own boredom!
Fast forward now, to the woods today... Miss Milly will inevitably run off in her own direction, and Punk will have to sniff out every new thing she might come across...
.
.
.
...Like the deer apples in the pines... (YUMMY)?!?!?!?
.
.
.
And she will also try to pull the old cornstalks out by the roots...
.
.
.
Time for me to fly! And high time for me to go raid my icebox, and see what magic I can create from its contents!
I hope you are ALL having a 'wunnaful' weekend!
XOXO
Anne
Nasty... and BELOW ZERO (again)
Good Morning Every~One and All~!
hehehe Like that picture? Cold enough for coffee this morning, with a dash of chocolate, and a spoonful of french vanilla creamer too! And if my head wasn't feeling like it got beat up on the inside, I might just make that pot of coffee! So please have one for me, alright?
My own temperature right now reads a negative one~point~four degrees. And when I clicked onto my forecast, it began with the following: "A cold wind this morning". Really? Ya think? Hmmmmm
.
.
.
CaseyAnne stopped out inbetween classes yesterday, and took those few minutes to decorate the dog...
.
.
.
.
Not too sure if Punk likes it or not... No mirrors for her! Cute, KC!
.
.
.
But for right now, quite thankfully, they sleep!
.
.
.
.
Milly, in the entrance~ (And too quickly becoming a spoiled housedog in this weather)... Loves her blanket too!
.
.
.
.
And the Punkster on the couch~ (Prefers NOT to be covered unless I turn the heat too far down)!
.
.
.
.
.
Master Gabriel... Yesterday afternoon...
.
.
.
.
I think he was SO tired that he took his Nuk, grabbed his blanket, and laid down right in the middle of the living room floor! He goes upstairs so well when it is time to nap, and when it is bedtime too. He does not scream or holler or yell, but just goes up to bed. Quiet. Calm. Wonderful. Not too many babies like that!
Now, while he is awake there is a MUCH DIFFERENT story to be told... He screams like a banshee; (these difficult days inbetween no language, and not quite being able to talk and be understood). Those screams are enough to wake the dead, and to curdle the blood of the living. (I am thinking it is a very good thing that we live kind of in the middle of nowhere- Otherwise people would think he was being murdered... or worse)!
But like I said above, they are all asleep now... And that is a very good thing for my head, not to mention heavenly for my disposition too, (especially after being way too familiar with 'ralph' already this morning). I have been up since shortly after one, the danged pills only work a while then rescind their assistance...
I am thinking I shall keep this short this morning and try to go back to bed for a little while. If a nap does NOT fix it, along with the Maxalt, then at least I can call in if need be...
Happy Day After Romance! (I do hope yours was special in every way)! Please click the comments and tell me how special yours was...
XOXO
Anne
Another Share of Mary... 02-09-07
Mary Mary; Quite Contrary!!!
We have just spoken (twice) on the phone already... (Well, until your boss showed up anyway)!
The above picture was taken at Christmas two years ago... and only 3 days after Mary almost died from her cancer and her chemo. (Kinda like Berta, they seem to recover nicely from beig at Deaths Door; wouldn't you say)?
Mary received weekly chemo treatments for her Grade 3, Stage IIIC breast cancer; and I tried to get down to Appleton for each one... It didn't always work because of Mother Nature, and I couldn't make it to the treatment that was only 2 days before her birthday that year. I felt SO badly- Probably more for myself, than she did because Tom would bring her, and they would share their conversations with many of her chemo~friends too.
But that day, instead of going to Appleton, I went for a walk, and then emailed her the following...
Please bear with me... I felt so bad not being able to go...
*I had entitled my e~Mail "We Took a Walk Today"...
02-07-05
Dear Mary;
Yes the damnable precipitation quit as soon as we'd hung up-
...And so, since I couldn't be there with you, I took you for a walk with me... (We took Miss Milly too)...
.
.
You, Miss Milly and I walked back to the woods
.
.
and checked on Mona's grave---
.
.
(And it was at that point that I discovered that I'd left my camera behind)---
So we walked back to the house to get it.
.
.
The wind, much chillier on the way back- We got the camera- and walked back to the woods...
.
.
.
We saw the ice flows left behind by the rare February thaw...
.
.
.
And took a picture of the house 1/2way to the campsite-
.
.
.
Took a picture of an old tree, felled by the winds of the storm last summer- (That they swore was NOT a twister... I beg to differ)...
.
.
.
.
.
Getting to the campsite, and looking down at the ground, we saw tons of footprints- huge for any bird- figured it was the wild turkeys-
.
.
.
And then we checked out the grill- Flooded by a puddle...
.
.
.
Turning around, we saw a brand new tributary of the Suamico River- Down in the ravine... And a pretty swift flow to it too...
.
.
.
Took another picture of the house; this time across the cut firewood.
.
.
.
Coming out of the campsite, we almost fell in the lake-
.
Gee Mary, was this another new body of water... Or maybe you just wanted to push me in??? (A month early)??? Tee-Hee!
.
.
.
.
And walking back- (still with the chilly NE wind in our faces), we stopped in the middle of the river that now runs through the field.
.
.
Closer to home, Milly spotted an old furry, rotten corn cob- left behind by the equipment; and further ignored by the deer too, but not by Milly. She even let me take a picture of it before she tried to attack it...
.
.
.
We stopped at the fire-pit up here too, and we got hungry for some of Blazeis weiners, (and real hungry for the 4th of July too).
.
.
.
Then around the house, & out to the front yard to check on the colors there-
.
.
High bush cranberries- (I really don't think the birds actually eat them); but Mom was right about one thing, they sure are pretty to look at in the middle of a drab winter too.
.
.
We enjoyed our walk Mary-
.
.
.
And so did Miss Milly!
.
.
We had fun, you and I ... We spoke of Mom and Dad~ and Miss Mona...
.
.
We even talked about ourselves... and about whatever dreams the future may hold- (I had to tell you yet again that I am not going on that cruise)...
.
.
When we finally got back on the inside here, we had to take off our pants, because they were soaked right along with our boots-
But we weren't 'cold', Sweet Sister of Mine, we had each other... And always will.
I love you, foreverlonger,
Anne
Happy Birthday, Oh Elder One!!!
hehehe
