Man Kills Self Before Shooting Wife and Daughter
This one I caught in the SGV Tribune the other day and called the Editorial Room and asked who wrote this.
It took two or three readings before the editor realized that what he was reading was impossible!!!
They put in a correction the next day.

70's. And October!

Good Morning Everyone;
Boy, it's been a long time since I have written a blog; and once again I am not sure I remember how.
Wait! It is one of those things, like riding a bike -and other things, that you don't forget...
hehehe

Not much news to write home about-
Save for two, Casey had all of her teeth removed 2½ weeks ago-

Casey

Too cute she is!
She still has 4 weeks before the surgeons will even do her new impressions.
She had felt SO down about that- Me too, (I was jealous). hehehe
But her surgeon told her, IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS, (and almost nose~to~nose to drive his point home), that she could have had a dentist following her around these years and her teeth still would have died from the inside out as her pancreas wreaked its damage throughout her body.

We have now learned that her pancreas had been 'going' years before we thought- and years before it had gotten so very bad... When the body is sick, it 'takes' from other parts to maintain survival.
Her nasty pancreas had also digested the roots of her teeth, little by little-

Mal-absorption being only one of the worst things she is dealing with.
She is back on her diabetes meds too, both insulins, until her body recovers from the surgical shock; and can also heal from the godawful infection that had plagued her for the past 2+ months.
She texted me this morning around 3- Said that both herself and Greg are dealing with some 'tummy troubles'. That's all she needs, right. She had offered to drop by, but I told her that it's probably better if she doesn't.
"This too shall pass."
Besides, my anxiety attacks have come back with a vengeance! Grrr...
I had done so well for so long...
*sigh*
Even as I sit here typing I am shaking all over.
And no, I am not cold.

I mowed lawns yesterday-
Nice to be outside in October and work up a sweat too. (That is not normal for us).
But it sure makes me happy! It is almost sinful to be on the inside.
Our weather has been absolutely "WUNNAFUL"! And should remain so -at least through the weekend. Or so they say.
Generally by now we have had snow- ugh- It makes me want to jump up and dance that we haven't had any yet. PLUS, it is in the 70's! Whoo~Hoo!

These little guys are even still around!

Though I know it can't, I wish it could stay that way.
Not looking forward to Winter. I never do. But then there is always Spring!

Some trees have turned, some are hanging on to their green leaves still. Odd to see that also.

Anyway, I am proud that I got the lawns done. (Better said, "as done as I could"). Looks SO much better than before.
JoAnne and Jim came and mowed a few weeks back- Thank God for neighbors that just help out, and you don't even have to ask!
The part that hadn't been cut in over a month was a challenge though; especially to my back.  That part was never leveled off right (after the barn was taken down)- I went over that part twice- and it still needs to be gone over again! Most likely I will try to do that on Friday -

Master Gabriel turned 6 on the first! Oh, how time flies!
He and his sisters go to school full time now- A nice break for Miss Kristin, Provided she doesn't have any younger fosters. Such a great family that he has found!

As you have seen, every now and then my camera will still take a picture-

This is looking across the field... At sunset

Watching my deer eat their dinner!
Sorry so fuzzy. (Picture was taken from about 20 acres away).
I love to watch them.

Two weeks ago Sunday was a bikers rally. Many of these runs go right by my place. Kind of cool that.
After her first few years, Punk generally pays them no never mind- But this past week she surely did.
Of a sudden, she is barking out the window, her fur raised on her back-
This is what she had seen...
One of the bikes had broken down right down the road. I kept hearing them speed up and go over the hill; not knowing why they had slowed to begin with.

Broken down bikes.
They were there about 45 minutes, then on their way again!

Like me.
It is high time to get a move on for the day.
Hope all is well with everyone...   Have a 'wunnaful' Wednesday!

My love to all

XOXO
Me

A Rough Few Weeks-

Hi All;
I am just soooooo tired.
You know me. I get migraines, and have broken an untold # of vertebrae. Rarely do I get truly "sick". (Yeah well, so much for that record).
I am not sure what kind of bug I have picked up, but it has been unrelenting this week... Fever- chills, 100 times over- and back again. I do believe that with all the barfing I have done my back will never ever feel better or heal properly. celebrity fashion gallery

About the only thing that stays down is the Zofran- (and that melts under my tongue for Gods sake).  When I asked for a refill on the Zofran, I told the gal at the dr.s office that if I felt no better by today I will be making an appointment to come in. I will sleep some more and see how I feel when/(if?) I wake.

Past myself... Casey's surgery is scheduled for the 19th. I swear to God that i would have her out her to take care of me, or even to help me out if she wasn't in so much pain herself. (She is also on antibiotics for infection).
Additionally, she is one Lantus once more- as her blood sugars have been soaring...

Besides wanting my mom back to take care of me for a few days, (yes, really), I received news of a childhood/teenage friend of ours (neighbor kids n me). Scott passed away on Wednesday, very unexpectedly.
Scott's a doctor- His wife found him on the couch, passed, apparently of a heart attack.

It is a godawful awakening that people I know and care for, (and my age) are dying unexpectedly.

It is just so wrong. And very sad too.
Hard to be adjusting, esp. given the fact that many of us, (me included), are just now accepting and still adjusting to the fact that we are the mom/dad generation, since our parents have gone and the generational torch has been handed to us.

The news, when Koreen had called on Wednesday afternoon- Odd though,  given the content of the phone call, it was still nice to hear her voice. I ran into her a while back at Wally World, introducing her to Brad (my grandson Isaiah's father). She lives quite near to Casey and Greg. I will make a note to stop one day if I do not see her on Saturday. (If I am up to going that is).

My sister Barbara wrote and will be up in Sault Ste Marie- Wish I could go and see her, but only in my dreams.

Another of my sisters has just been diagnosed with COPD.  She has never ever smoked!

Life is not fair.

My title above does not give this entry the justice it deserves.
This has been sheer hell all the way around.

Time for me now to lie down and try to sleep once more. I guess you could say I lied earlier, not that I meant to, but clearly my Zofran is NOT working.

Maybe later to call the doctor. This really is quite awful.

More importantly, please keep Casey and my sister in your thoughts...

XOXO
me

PS
Gritter~Baby!!!
Your deer called.
They would like you to come and get their apples when you can... While the pears are dimpled and weird this year, I told them there were lots of Macintosh, and they are very pleased and excited. hehehe
Love you guys!

Spirometric       Classification

The       normal lung function, when measured with Spirometry, diminishes       approximately 5% every 10 years after age 35 years old.  Therefore, it is       rare for a person over 35 to have a “100%”   In addition, the normal       values for the FVC and FEV (2 of the measurements in a pulmonary function       test) vary depending on age, height, sex and race.  The numbers are higher       for:

  • 35 years old vs 65 years old
  •
  • Taller than shorter builds
  •
  • Men than women
  •
  • Caucasian than most other races.
  •

The number used (FEV1) is a percent of the average       expected of someone of your height, age, sex and race.   It is       expressed       as a percent of predicted.  Any number over 80% is considered normal

Symptoms

Pulmonary Function Tests             (PFT) with an FEV1 result of:

STAGE I

mild

Often minimal shortness of             breath with or without cough and/or sputum. Usually goes             unrecognized that lung function is abnormal

              >  80% of predicted

STAGE II

moderate

Often moderate or severe             shortness of breath on exertion, with or without cough, sputum or dyspnea.              Often the first stage at which medical attention is sought due to             chronic respiratory symptoms or an exacerbation

  50-80% of predicted

STAGE III

severe

more severe             shortness of breath,  with or without cough, sputum or dyspnea             - often with repeated exacerbations which usually impact quality of             life,  reduced exercise capacity, fatigue

  30 – 50% of predicted

STAGE IV

very severe

appreciably impaired quality             of life due to shortness of breath - possible exacerbations which may even be             life threatening at times

Less than 30% of predicted              --
