For consumers

* Do not eat products that have been recalled and throw them away in a manner that prevents others from eating them. These products include Austin and Keebler brand peanut butter crackers and King Nut brand peanut butter produced since July 1, 2008. (FDA's web site has recalled lot numbers).
* Postpone eating other peanut butter containing products (such as cookies, crackers, cereal, candy and ice cream) until more information becomes available about which brands may be affected.
* Use FDA's online database to check if foods you're concerned about are on the recall list.
* Call the consumer hotline phone number that may be on any product packaging you have to get information directly from the product manufacturer.
* Persons who think they may have become ill from eating peanut butter are advised to consult their health care providers.
* For consumers with pets, please visit Questions and Answers Related to the Salmonella Typhimurium Outbreak and Pets.

***The recall has now been expanded to include some pet food products that contain peanut paste that was made by PCA. While the risk of animals contracting salmonellosis is minimal, there is risk to humans from handling these products. It is especially important for people to wash their hands and make sure children wash their hands after feeding treats to pets. Further information for consumers is located in the Frequently Asked Questions section located on this web site. The pet food products are also included in the searchable data base of recalled products.

Good Wednesday Morning!
A bit wiped out today- Spent yesterday with a migraine from hell. I had run out of my pills and had a script to pick up at the RX store-
I finally went about 4:30 to get it. I hadn't wanted to go earlier- too bright and my eyes would have liquified in the sunshine.
Not too sure that waiting til dusk was a good idea either because then all the cars have their silly lights on. (Falls under "duh").
At any rate, after a restless night- and one of those pills much earlier this morning, I am alive. (Or at least more alive than I was)... hehehe

We are to be back in the deep freeze for the weekend. But until then have some better temps. Up to about 30 today; which is a huge improvement from last week at this time. I shall try to get outside and chip away at that ice and snow on the concrete that has been threatening to knock people on their backsides as of late.

Speaking of the weekend...

**CASEY'S BIRTHDAY at THE OLIVE GARDEN!**

She is telling me 11AM so that is when we will be celebrating!

Not too sure how many of you have had/have very ill, or seriously injured, children; but I know that in this past year I have prayed more for her relief than ever before. I know too that there are those of you who have lost your children-

The fear I knew- such an ugly thing that came from way deep within my gut, when faced with the possibility of losing her was more than I could even handle at times.

It seems as though I even prayed for this next birthday for her; almost as if it was a magical thing...

Yet even as I type, that sense of magic is not lost.


I know too that there are more than a few of you that live around Green Bay.

Please come and share this magical birthday with us.
I promise to take my anti~anxiety pills, (though I cannot promise they will work). Grr...


Yes, Casey still has pain-
It is most probably from her healing duodenum. Part of that was removed to be able to remove the pancreatic duct. The lower part that is left must now be subjected to the more vicious tummy juice. This too shall pass.

It is not the pancreatic pain that she has lived through for the past 3 years.

Slowly but surely I am getting my youngest daughter back.
But for the amazing grace of God.

My fellow citizens:

I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.

Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because we the people have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebears, and true to our founding documents.

So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans.

That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.

These are the indicators of crisis, subject to data and statistics. Less measurable but no less profound is a sapping of confidence across our land — a nagging fear that America's decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights.

Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America — they will be met.

On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.

On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.

We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.

In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of shortcuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted — for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things — some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long, rugged path towards prosperity and freedom.

For us, they packed up their few worldly possessions and traveled across oceans in search of a new life.

For us, they toiled in sweatshops and settled the West; endured the lash of the whip and plowed the hard earth.

For us, they fought and died, in places like Concord and Gettysburg; Normandy and Khe Sahn.

Time and again these men and women struggled and sacrificed and worked till their hands were raw so that we might live a better life. They saw America as bigger than the sum of our individual ambitions; greater than all the differences of birth or wealth or faction.

This is the journey we continue today. We remain the most prosperous, powerful nation on Earth. Our workers are no less productive than when this crisis began. Our minds are no less inventive, our goods and services no less needed than they were last week or last month or last year. Our capacity remains undiminished. But our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions — that time has surely passed. Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America.

For everywhere we look, there is work to be done. The state of the economy calls for action, bold and swift, and we will act — not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth. We will build the roads and bridges, the electric grids and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together. We will restore science to its rightful place, and wield technology's wonders to raise health care's quality and lower its cost. We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories. And we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age. All this we can do. All this we will do.

Now, there are some who question the scale of our ambitions — who suggest that our system cannot tolerate too many big plans. Their memories are short. For they have forgotten what this country has already done; what free men and women can achieve when imagination is joined to common purpose, and necessity to courage.

What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them — that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply. The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works — whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end. Those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account — to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day — because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government.

Nor is the question before us whether the market is a force for good or ill. Its power to generate wealth and expand freedom is unmatched, but this crisis has reminded us that without a watchful eye, the market can spin out of control — and that a nation cannot prosper long when it favors only the prosperous. The success of our economy has always depended not just on the size of our gross domestic product, but on the reach of our prosperity; on our ability to extend opportunity to every willing heart — not out of charity, but because it is the surest route to our common good.

As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals. Our founding fathers ... our found fathers, faced with perils we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations. Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience's sake. And so to all the other peoples and governments who are watching today, from the grandest capitals to the small village where my father was born: know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman, and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity, and that we are ready to lead once more.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

We are the keepers of this legacy. Guided by these principles once more, we can meet those new threats that demand even greater effort — even greater cooperation and understanding between nations. We will begin to responsibly leave Iraq to its people, and forge a hard-earned peace in Afghanistan. With old friends and former foes, we will work tirelessly to lessen the nuclear threat, and roll back the specter of a warming planet. We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you.

For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus — and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.

To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect. To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West — know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist.

To the people of poor nations, we pledge to work alongside you to make your farms flourish and let clean waters flow; to nourish starved bodies and feed hungry minds. And to those nations like ours that enjoy relative plenty, we say we can no longer afford indifference to the suffering outside our borders; nor can we consume the world's resources without regard to effect. For the world has changed, and we must change with it.

As we consider the road that unfolds before us, we remember with humble gratitude those brave Americans who, at this very hour, patrol far-off deserts and distant mountains. They have something to tell us, just as the fallen heroes who lie in Arlington whisper through the ages. We honor them not only because they are guardians of our liberty, but because they embody the spirit of service; a willingness to find meaning in something greater than themselves. And yet, at this moment — a moment that will define a generation — it is precisely this spirit that must inhabit us all.

For as much as government can do and must do, it is ultimately the faith and determination of the American people upon which this nation relies. It is the kindness to take in a stranger when the levees break, the selflessness of workers who would rather cut their hours than see a friend lose their job which sees us through our darkest hours. It is the firefighter's courage to storm a stairway filled with smoke, but also a parent's willingness to nurture a child, that finally decides our fate.

Our challenges may be new. The instruments with which we meet them may be new. But those values upon which our success depends — hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism — these things are old. These things are true. They have been the quiet force of progress throughout our history. What is demanded then is a return to these truths. What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility — a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation, and the world, duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character, than giving our all to a difficult task.

This is the price and the promise of citizenship.

This is the source of our confidence — the knowledge that God calls on us to shape an uncertain destiny.

This is the meaning of our liberty and our creed — why men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across this magnificent Mall, and why a man whose father less than sixty years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath.

So let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have traveled. In the year of America's birth, in the coldest of months, a small band of patriots huddled by dying campfires on the shores of an icy river. The capital was abandoned. The enemy was advancing. The snow was stained with blood. At a moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people:

"Let it be told to the future world ... that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive...that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet (it)."

America, in the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.

Obama takes office, saying choose 'hope over fear'

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Stepping into history, Barack Hussein Obama grasped the reins of power as America's first black president on Tuesday, declaring the nation must choose "hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord" to overcome the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

In frigid temperatures, an exuberant crowd of more than a million packed the National Mall and parade route to celebrate Obama's inauguration in a high-noon ceremony. Waving and cheering in jubilation, they stretched from the inaugural platform at the U.S. Capitol toward the Lincoln Memorial in the distance.

With 11 million Americans out of work and trillions of dollars lost in the stock market's tumble, Obama emphasized that his biggest challenge is to repair the tattered economy left behind by outgoing President George W. Bush.

"Our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions - that time has surely passed," Obama said. "Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and begin the work of remaking America."

It was a day of high spirits - jarred by sudden concern about the health of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, a legendary Democrat who is suffering from brain cancer. He was rushed from a Senate luncheon in honor of Obama. "This is a joyous time but it's also a sobering time," Obama said. "And my prayers are with him and his family and (Kennedy's wife) Vicki."

Obama wove a thread of personal responsibility and accountability through his inaugural address. He spoke of a "new era of responsibility" and alluded to the inability - or unwillingness - of Americans to adjust to the passing of an industrial-based economy. "Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age," he said.

Two years after beginning his improbable quest as a little-known, first-term Illinois senator with a foreign-sounding name, Obama moved into the Oval Office as the nation's fourth-youngest president, at 47, and the first African-American, a barrier-breaking achievement believed impossible by generations of minorities.

He said it was a moment to recall "that all are equal, all are free and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness." In another racial reference, he paid tribute to workers in the past who "endured the lash of the whip and plowed the hard earth."

Obama's election was cheered around the world as a sign that America will be more embracing, more open to change. "To the Muslim world," Obama said, "we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect."

Still, he bluntly warned, "To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West - know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy."

"To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history, but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist," Obama said in his address, which ran 18 1/2 minutes.

A mighty chorus of cheers erupted as he stepped to the inaugural platform, a midday sun warming the crowd that had waited for hours in the cold. There were some boos when Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney came onto the platform.

The dawn of the new Democratic era - with Obama allies in charge of both houses of Congress - ends eight years of Republican control of the White House by Bush, who leaves Washington as one of the nation's most unpopular and divisive presidents, the architect of two unfinished wars and the man in charge at a time of economic calamity that swept away many Americans' jobs, savings and homes.

Obama called for a political truce in Washington to end "the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics."

He said that all Americans have roles in rebuilding the nation by renewing the traditions of hard work, honesty and fair play, tolerance, loyalty and patriotism.

With the economy in a long and deepening recession, Obama said it was time for swift and bold action to create new jobs and lay a foundation for growth. Congressional Democrats have readied an $825 billion stimulus plan of tax cuts and spending for roads, bridges, schools, electric grids and other projects.

Contradicting the objections of Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton to big government, Obama said, "The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works."

After the ceremony, Obama and his wife escorted Bush and his wife to a helicopter on the East Front of the Capitol for the trip to nearby Andrews Air Force Base and a flight back home to Texas.

In his remarks, Obama took stock of the nation's sobering problems.

"That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood," he said.

"Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened. ... Homes have been lost, jobs shed, businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly, our schools fail too many, and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet."

Outlining goals abroad and putting foes on notice, he declared:

"We will begin to responsibly leave Iraq to its people and forge a hard-earned peace in Afghanistan. With old friends and former foes, we will work tirelessly to lessen the nuclear threat, and roll back the specter of a warming planet. We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken. You cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you."

It was the first change of administrations since the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Bush - following tradition - left a note for Obama in the top drawer of his desk in the Oval Office.

White House press secretary Dana Perino said the theme of the message - which Bush wrote on Monday - was similar to what Mr. Bush has said since election night: that Obama is about to begin a "fabulous new chapter" in the United States, and that he wishes him well.

The unfinished business of the Bush administration thrusts an enormous burden onto the new administration, though polls show Americans are confident Obama is on track to succeed. He has cautioned that improvements will take time and that things will get worse before they get better.

Culminating four days of celebration, the nation's 56th inauguration day began for Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden with a traditional morning worship service at St. John's Episcopal Church, across Lafayette Park from the White House. Bells pealed from the historic church's tower as Obama and his wife, Michelle, arrived five minutes behind schedule.

The festivities weren't ending until well after midnight, with dancing and partying at 10 inaugural balls.

By custom, Obama and his wife, and Biden and his wife, Jill, went directly from church to the White House for coffee with Bush and his wife, Laura. Michelle Obama brought a gift for the outgoing first lady in a white box decorated with a red ribbon.

Shortly before 11 a.m., Obama and Bush climbed into a heavily armored Cadillac limousine to share a ride to the Capitol for the transfer of power, an event flashed around the world in television and radio broadcasts, podcasts and Internet streaming.

Just after noon, Obama stepped forward on the West Front of the Capitol to lay his left hand on the same Bible that President Abraham Lincoln used at his first inauguration in 1861. The 35-word oath of office, administered by Chief Justice John Roberts, has been uttered by every president since George Washington. Obama was one of 22 Democratic senators to vote against Roberts' confirmation to the Supreme Court in 2005.

The son of a white, Kansas-born mother and a black, Kenya-born father, Obama decided to use his full name in the swearing-in ceremony.

To the dismay of liberals, Obama invited conservative evangelical pastor Rick Warren - an opponent of gay rights - to give the inaugural invocation.

About a dozen members of Obama's Cabinet and top appointees were ready for Senate confirmation Tuesday, provided no objections were raised. But Republican Sen. John Cornyn of Texas indicated he would block a move to immediately confirm Secretary of State-designate Hillary Rodham Clinton. Still, she is expected to be approved in a roll call vote Wednesday.

More than 10,000 people from all 50 states - including bands and military units - were assembled to follow Obama and Biden from the Capitol on the 1.5-mile inaugural parade route on Pennsylvania Avenue, concluding at a bulletproof reviewing stand in front of the White House. Security was unprecedented. Most bridges into Washington and about 3.5 square miles of downtown were closed.

Among the VIPs at the Capitol was pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the hero of last week's US Airways crash into the Hudson River.

In an appeal for bipartisanship, Obama honored defeated Republican presidential rival John McCain at a dinner Monday night. "There are few Americans who understand this need for common purpose and common effort better than John McCain," Obama said.

Young and untested, Obama is a man of enormous confidence and electrifying oratorical skills. Hopes for Obama are extremely high, suggesting that Americans are willing to give him a long honeymoon to strengthen the economy and lift the financial gloom.

On Wednesday, his first working day in office, Obama is expected to redeem his campaign promise to begin the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq under a 16-month timetable. Aides said he would summon the Joint Chiefs of Staff to the Oval Office and order that the pullout commence.

And we ALL know what THAT means!

I have a few little whiles- "She" is busy-
She said something about my Casey coming today! And that means that 'she' turns on the warm box on the wall, and puts something in it. It smells really good, (and that makes my spit run funny).

I'm sure she told ya, but I went on a LONG holiday. I think it was s'posed to be my present this year. But after a while it was kinda boring too.

We left my Mama Milly at home, all by herself, with the cat. (That's pretty funny to me).

And that's my very own riding bag!
It has ALL my treats and toys and junk in it!

We drove for TWO potty breaks. And finally 'she' brings us to this other big bedroom.

We have fun for a few days.
And after that, she makes my Casey go away for a long LONG time.

Then she leaves me there every day, (sometimes two, maybe three times a day), saying 'she' gets to go see my Casey.
She smells kinda funny when she comes back every time. Kinda too clean.
Us dogs don't like that smell. It makes us think we are doing something wrong.

That Greg guy that sloppy kisses my Casey was there for a while too.
I had to check his own bedroom every time I came back inside to make sure that he wasn't hiding my Casey. But she wasn't there either.

"She" would make me walk a pretty long way to go potty and poo.
This was the little hill out front.
And it was pretty cold on my paws.

But we didn't see the grass for long cuz it kept snowing!
My she had to go get extra fur to put on and everything.

'She' left the talking picture box on for when she was away. Some kind of animal shows-
Mostly I just slept.

Sometimes the ladies there would come and take me out of this bedroom and have me sit by their big windows by the big doors. They would play with me too. And I could see everyone that came and went. So that was pretty cool. (They really liked me at the place with all those bedrooms). And they gave me treats all the time too!

One day, after a long while, 'she' takes out my big black special collar.
Then she asks me if I wanna go see my Casey! I do! I do!
And I get so excited I almost peed on the floor! But I didn't. (I was very very very good the whole time I was there).
Well ALMOST the whole time anyway...

Once, after my she had gone to sleep, I ate her pie.

I didn't mean to eat the whole thing.
I started just sniffin' some white stuff on top,
And then I had to sniff the stuff under that.
THEN I HAD TO TASTE IT ALL.
And it was SO good.
Even better than Bonz!

But like I said, I finally got to go see my Casey! I was so happy to see her, but I had to be ever so gentle because she hurted. A LOT.

I just gave her lots of kisses then.
She likes that.

I got to go see her again later in our trip.
And then once, my Casey even came to see me!!!!

My "she" practically had to sit on me when I saw my Casey peeking in the door too. But then I 'membered to be so nice again.

My Casey went back to that weird building again. But not for so long this time.

Then we came home.

Now I get to play with Mama Milly all day long- We get in trouble in the house, and 'she' says bad words at us sometimes.
So out we go!  Well only when it's not too cold that is.

We got to play outside yesterday.

And it snowed all day long!

I like eating the snow.

But I got kinda a nose full of it too.

Now, like then, it's time for my nap.

Good Morning;
Again, looks are deceiving. It is sunny and just beautiful outside-
The TV claims 18 below zero, without the windchill figured in.
Our windchill warnings should be past tense by noon. (Hope so).

There are no schools worthy of operating that ARE open. I believe most of Wisconsin schools have had a 4 day weekend.

Good grief.

Back when my kids were in school, we lived out in the boonies. (Even MORE boonie~ish than where I live now). hehehe
There were days- and quite a few, that I did not agree with whomever thought they would be responsible for the safety of my children that day. Most of the time my little disagreement came from the fact that school was not closed. I tried to keep in mind that the principal did not live on Jaworski Road.

Jaworski was one of the last roads in Oconto County to be plowed out. Usually one of the neighbors would at least make a track down the road with his tractor. (This, generally as he came to plow us out). Not that we could go anywhere.

Back to the schools though. Know that this blog will not make me popular with any school administrators.

Do you know that when you do not agree with the administrators decisions that you have every right to keep your children at home, AND that they will have an "excused" absence for it? This is the law.
Use it when/if your intuition tells you something other than what you hear on the TV.

Know too that this was never a popular decision for me- (ALL of my kids LOVED school).
Still, there were a few times that getting to school was not the problem- Getting home was. A few times that the schools had to put their student body up for the night. But my own children were safe, warm and fed at home.

NOTE: My kids graduated in the 1990's.
Clearly this was NOT in the days when the rest of us had to walk to/from school, 10 miles, barefoot in the snow, and uphill both ways.

Know that tomorrow when the sun comes up it will not be as cold.

The dogs are not impressed with the weather either; and have taken to doing their wrestling indoors.

Both are napping at the moment. (Nice, that).

They go outside in record time, and back in a flash, no arguments. And no running around the house at record speed either. Oh wait. They can't even GET around the house with all the snows... Another 3-6" expected tomorrow night.

Speaking of getting around...
Casey had picked her car up on Wednesday evening because she had two appointments yesterday. With my little illness I am not supposed to go outside at this point. (And I still feel like cold caca).
Since Casey was doing better than I there was no reason that I really needed to take her to those appointments.

• One was a blood test for an ulcer.
• The other appointment with "Dr. Mario", her pain management specialist. Sorry but I can never remember his name. He is quite Italian, and so is his name. "Mario" will have to suffice.

With credit due to Old Man Winter, know that both of those appointments have now been rescheduled for next week.

Her terrible tummy pain continues and she has resorted back to using her fentanyl patches.

"Hello Everyone!
I figured an update on here would reach everyone faster! I am doing about the same as I was all day. The pain I have now is stomach pain and it seizes up for seemingly no reason from time to time and that's when it's really bad. I wait it out and continue to keep up on the fluids.
I did steal some of Greg's sesame chicken and that stayed down so a little bit ago I decided to have a microwave dinner. I am hoping that stays down as well. At least a little something to make my blood sugars go back up would be nice. It even seized up on the little bit of jello I had earlier, so it is being very tempermental.
I am hoping this all will pass soon enough and I can get on the fast track to healing again!
Until then I will be waiting things out.
We (Mom or I) will keep you all posted.

Thank you ALL SO MUCH for the thoughts, powers, and prayers!!! I know enough by now to appreciate every one of them and to know they are all being heard and answered!!!

WAUPACA — Several tips and reward offers that topped $12,000 helped county and state officials find the three Weyauwega men they say are responsible for the killing of five deer on a snowmobile trail last weekend.

The first of the men, Nicholas Hermes, 22, of Weyauwega, was charged Thursday with five counts of animal cruelty, and two brothers, Robby Kuenzi, 23, and Rory Kuenzi, 24, both of Weyauwega, are scheduled to appear in court today on similar charges.

Rory Kuenzi also faces a felony theft charge after telling people the snowmobile he was riding that night was "borrowed." Police say it was reported stolen Dec. 26.

The three snowmobilers encountered the deer Friday night near Denmark Road in Lind, about five miles south of Waupaca. Hermes said he accidentally struck a deer, but the Kuenzi brothers began purposely chasing the deer down before running them over.

Hermes said he saw Rory Kuenzi at one point dragging a deer that had been roped to the sled.

Investigators found three of the deer in the field Saturday. A snowmobile had stopped atop one of them and ripped open its stomach, said Ted Dremel, a state Department of Natural Resources warden based in Waupaca County.

A fourth deer had broken legs and was euthanized, and the fifth deer had been dragged from the field and tied to a tree about 25 feet from a road. It strangled itself trying to get free.

The dead deer were two bucks and three does. One was a fawn.

State and county officials, speaking at a news conference Thursday after Hermes' court appearance, stressed the actions are not representative of snowmobilers.

"This is not a snowmobile incident," said Bob Sprenger, president of the Waupaca County Snowmobile Association, which raised a reward fund of $9,000 after the killings. "This is a crime committed with a snowmobile."

The three men could face more than the criminal charges, said state Department of Natural Resources regional Warden Byron Goetsch, because they are accused of killing wildlife.

"A myriad of regulations could apply," he said, including civil forfeitures and conservation charges.

What bothers Goetsch and other wardens, he said, is the apparent increase of "thrill killings" of wildlife, which he described as dangerous and illegal killings, typically out of season and with no intention of harvesting the kill.

He said the DNR just started tracking those crimes last June, and has so far identified 17 similar thrill killings in the past several years.

Hermes was released from jail on a $15,000 signature bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again Jan. 27.
