.
Good Morning All!
As I emailed Casey yesterday, and hit 'send', quite simultaneously there was a HUGE crash of thunder...
Being the baby I am, I emailed her again, telling her about the BIG BANG!
Once again, AS I HIT 'SEND', there was another reminder of the storm that was upon me...
Only this time, what I heard/saw was "FLASH/CLICK"...
And we have ALL been that close to a storm, so you know what I'm talking about...
The 'flash' seemed to be outside the window, ~AND in the bookcase next to me at the same time.
Weird.
(And much too close for my comfort)!
I shut down the computer, and unplugged the surge protector from the outlet.
As the sky cleared, I got everything up and running again.
Well, almost everything...
Reminiscent of Yahoo's chronic message that stops you cold in our 360~World, came the message, "there is no dial tone"- WHAT?!?!?
Grabbing the phone, checking for a dial tone, I realized my computer was demented.
There was TOO a dial tone.
Tried again...
Same message.
Dammitallanyway...
that 'flash', seemingly from the bookcase,
had been my modem getting zapped... Grrr.....
I called, and left "Master~Computer~Guru", (aka ~Casey's~ Greg), a message telling him what happened; and asking what kind of modem to buy...
Went to town, stopped for groceries, met up with Casey at the store...
~ AND PROMPTLY FORGOT TO BUY A FREAKIN' MODEM.
(Of course I remembered as soon as I was home).
Yet you ask, HOW am I posting if I forgot to go to Best Buy?
I tried something else this morning; using the phone cord and bypassing my surge protector.
It worked.
I might have whined about the price tag of the Belkin surge protector I have,
(and I'd bought a pretty danged expensive one back when)...
But that surge protector did its job beautifully!
Of course NOW I have to go buy another; but hey, it sure saved my modem, and probably a multitude of other components too.
Funny though that the electricity did not get cut to/from it...
On the way home from town the skies opened up once more.
.
.
not sure why the picture turned out so purple;
it really was black!
.
.
But am thinking that ONLY IN SUAMICO do you see the following driving down Highway 41...
Blurry or not, I think you will 'get' the picture...
.
.
.
It made me laugh!!!
.
.
Still laughing...
.
.
.
There were inevitably a few cracks in the clouds allowing the sun to peek through.
.
.
.
And allowing a hungry robin to collect his dinner...
1/3rd of the fields are disked
And Wery's migrants have already planted some tomatoes.
My own plants, and most of the seeds, are in also-
In time to have a fresh drink of water from Mother Nature.
.
Miss Punk does NOT treat the field workers as welcomed guests.
I used Mr. Millers tie~out to keep her from hollering too loudly about their presence...
.
.
.
She can go plenty far on that lead,
(just not TOO far)!
.
I'd better stop yakking and get started on my house.
(It has been terribly neglected of late, and the cloudy damp day will keep me inside for the most part).
But first, a few more pics for you...
Taken before the rains...
.
.
Wish you could smell what the butterfly is smelling...
.
.
A few bleeding hearts....
.
And yes, from yesterdays blog...- .
.
I only wish my legs would be that color....
"but N-O-O-O!"
.
Time to go "find" my house!
Hope you are all having a 'wunnaful' Tuesday!
Love to all.
XOXO

It sounds like lightening struck your phone line. This is why whenever it even looks like rain I unplug everything connected to my computer. I have DSL so it's sort of like having two or more phone lines at the same time. I've had my home phones go out but still had my DSL connection - go figure, because it all comes in through the same phone line.
ReplyDeleteI've tried to grow Bleeding Hearts before without any luck. The photo of yours makes me want to give it another try. They're so beautiful!
Sure glad your surge protector worked! Lovely pics, too. Good luck with your feet. Love. XOXO,Me.
ReplyDeleteRT;
ReplyDeleteYes, you MUST try again!
Make sure you have them in mostly shade... They are very persnickety that way.
There are some years that they pop up all over the darned place though, take root, (somehow) and get moved to friendlier places...
They don't all make it through winter though...
But YOU would not have to worry about that.
XOXO
Me
Richard,
ReplyDeleteMe too... If it hadn't have worked I would have had to mortgage the farm...
Glad you liked the pics...

Good afternoon Bart! Your flowers are just gorgeous.. I dont recall ever seeing a "Bleeding Heart" before and the other oh my I bet they do smell wonderful!
ReplyDeletePutting Punk on a leash.. thats exactly why the fenced yard at the place in Arkansas. So I dont have to worry about my Nikki taking off after something or someone.. and she would too! I have actually noticed her thinking shes gonna chase cars... I bout busted her butt for that one!
Yep, good surge protectors are very important! They work and if I recall you plug the phone and the computer line into different place than the electric.. that might explain why the electric didnt fail.. just that portion of the surge protector. My problem in Arkansas is a little different.. its not a surge its more like a brown out... they dont protect for that. Or at least I have not found one that does. Darla has lost more appliances than anyone I know because the electricity there is off and on so much. We dont lose so much because we are not there and most of the electric is off or unplugged.
Gettin a farmers tan are ya? Well I have no doubt you will have your summer coat way before long especially if you continue to stay outside as you are.
Hope your having a great day!
Mucho hugs

The joys of going with cable for my Internet connection. I'm off the phone wall (YAY!)...(now across the room). Makes life mucho easier. Still turn things off and unplug during a storm though. Can't afford to replace the laptop as much as I'd dearly love to.
ReplyDeleteI'm grateful you made it through the storm okay.
Those clouds were no doubt a purplish-black. I see that frequently during bad storms around here.
Love your pictures and laughing at the ''blurry'' one.
Speaking of storms, we're supposed to get one tonight/tomorrow. Rain is always welcome...I don't mind storms as long as there's no damage, however this is the time of year for the wicked stuff, sooo.
I haven't had dinner yet so better sign off for now and rustle up some grub.
OXOXOX

Sweet Connie!
ReplyDeleteI hate to hear of dogs being tied up-
But the fact that the road out there is 55mph (which generally means about 70), I take no chances.
Miss Milly is a wanderer... Has been since I got her- So she gets kenneled but cabled too
Those 50 feet are even trying for me.
hehehe
Punk borrowed Mr. Millers lead because she was just doing what she should to protect me.
I couldn't holler at her too badly, but making the mexicans pee in their pants is not nice either...
hehehe
(They do have such NICE posture when she gets away from me)...
Weird about those brownouts too... Thought those happened in the big cities...
We have surges around here- Probably more than most- But when WPS had changed all their lines and such, the farmers had a terrible time way back when...
WPS (Wisconsin Public Service) then altered something that provided for better electricity for us, and many others...
Years back, we had a dog that wanted to chase cars.
Pa called Bob Hamilton- one of his best friends, and asked him to come drive by when the dog was out there. (This was LONG before this was a county road, with set speed limits)...
He had Bob mix a batch of bleach water- 20 to 1, and dump it on the dog.
That dog never chased another car.
Famrers tan?
Yup, that's me. Now.
And I used to lay out all the time when the 3 oldest were small.
Not happening anymore... suffice it to say I outgrew my suit.
hehehe
WAH!!!!
The Native blood does tan nicely though
Love to you both!

Growling at you Cat...
ReplyDeleteI can't get cable out here or I would have changed over years ago.
I have DISH, but that's a zillion dollars a month to connect through. So I just use the phone line.
And if anybody ever complains that they can't get through cuz it's busy, then THEY can pay for another line in.
hehehe
Supposed to rain tomorrow too.
Getting kinda soggy 'round these parts.
Rustle up grub?
Nope no food for me. I lost my lunch, thanks to my head much earlier today.
XOXO
Me
Migraine I take it. I'm hoping this storm system doesn't cause me to have one.
ReplyDeletemeow
I'm grateful I have several choices for an internet connection. I used to have a Dish...hated it so returned to cable under a different program this time around. You're right, Internet through Dish does cost a gzillion dollars. I nearly had heart failure when I saw what they carge. Ouch!
Hope you feel better soon.

I do use peas for my soups...that's the ONLY way I like peas by the way...in soup.
ReplyDeleteGood quality peas should be uniformly bright green, fully turgid
ReplyDeleteand free from defects and mechanical damage. Stems and calyxes should be green. Green peas lose sugars
and flavor rapidly after harvest unless they are promptly cooled to 0 °C (32 °F).
