Sounding out the words is not enough. It is not enough to simply teach our children/adults HOW to read. Far more reaching, we must also teach them to comprehend -and to understand, what they are reading.
Not really. Just that all the people who are so ignorantly repetitious and obnoxious with MISSING THE POINT, then hiding behind it by twisting their OWN words... Gawd. A wonder...
The double entendre is actually learned before age ten; and just by listening to the conversations of others- whether that is of our parents, our teachers, or [gasp] our older siblings/cousins.
(It has to be learned young enough or none of us would ever survive puberty). hehehe
I think most people comprehend, maybe the interpretation is just different.
