Leaving Minneapolis. (And an update on Casey).
Good Morning All;
A chilly morning, but we are to get to the 70's today so I am happy for that.
As we checked out of our hotel in Minnesota, Punk went to the front desk and patiently awaited her treat.
She loves this place like no other we have ever gone to.
And God only knows how many places that amounts to from Froedtert in Milwaukee, to Mayo Clinics in Rochester, to, to, to-
She loves most of the staff too- There are a few she has nothing to do with, (one of the janitors, and one of the desk people). These people want nothing to do with her, so she obliges.
Otherwise EVERYONE there loves her as well.
(And always has treats for her).
Punk, Casey and Pat, as we were checking out-
On the corner was a man selling tickets to the Gopher Football game
Looks kinda silly too.
We drove past the TCF Stadium- We have watched this entire building be constructed, part by part, since we have been coming to Minnesota.
Nice to see it being used now!
Tribal Nations Plaza, (and PRIDE), at the Stadium-
And on toward the Mississippi River banks...
From here, The Pedal Pub
"Bicycle built for Brew" hehehe
Not an empty seat anywhere!
A beautiful day, and we saw a few of these!
"The PedalPub offers tours of different Twin Cities neighborhoods -- mostly bar tours, of course. While it looks like a bar and even has a spot for a keg, state law prohibits drinking on the PedalPub. Its owners hope to get their contraption grouped with limos and party buses, which would allow drinks on board (anything non-alcoholic is allowed). Its newness -- there's nothing like it in the state and perhaps the country -- means the legal landscape is bumpy."
We took a little drive through an older neighborhood.
Punk and Casey- on the banks of The Mississippi River.
Check how Casey has the leash... Punk wanted to jump in so bad!
The textile mill-
From here, "The North Star Woolen Mill is a building in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. The building, located in the St. Anthony Falls Historic District, was originally a textile mill for the North Star Woolen Company. The mill was built in 1864 by W.W. Eastman and Paris Gibson on the west side of the west side canal. High quality wool blankets, scarves, flannels, and yarns were manufactured at the facility and it became the nation's largest manufacturer of wool blankets by 1925.
Then to round a corner and see this building...
From here, "Pillsbury once claimed to have the largest grain mill in the world at the Pillsbury "A" Mill overlooking Saint Anthony Falls on the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. The building had two of the most powerful direct-drive waterwheels ever built, each putting out 1200 horsepower "
More Pillsbury (very cool) pictures, gallery, and history... here.
Check out the cobblestone streets!
After a moment or two of getting turned around, we were headed home!
It is always such a good feeling to cross the bridge!
After speaking to Casey's hematologist in Minnesota, her doctor here has reluctantly agreed to use Infed on Casey... But due to the dangerous side-effects of it, he will only agree to have her infusion done at a hospital.
As I type, he is waiting to hear back from a colleague that will be supervising everything.
She is such a little rascal, this youngest one of mine - - - Please think of her often?
My love to all.
XOXO

Thanks for the tour, Pilllsbury rocks!!! Minnesota is beautiful, I went to mount iron once for six weeks, in the winter. I called it the blustering tunders of hell...Ive never felt so doomed and cold in my life. I broke it off with my fiance at the time over it...lmao
ReplyDeleteI think most of us here on your page think of Casey and you often and you both are included in our prayers.
xoxoxoxoxox
I have never gone to a mountain in Winter!
ReplyDeleteNot a skier Sweetie- and no camping (in Winter) for this chick). hehehe
I can only guess at the barrenness of such an 'outing'.
Bad enough I have to take my clothes off to shower in Winter...
XOXO
Me
PS
I would have eaten the fool, then left the mountain.
(OK. that was bad- I was really only joking)...
And there was me thinking that only his lordship took photos of stadiums!
ReplyDeleteLove the pedal pub. That's a new one on me. I'm taking it that if they ever get booze drinking permission there'll be a designated driver? I still wonder about the sanity of people who actually WANT to risk being pedalled anywhere by a load of drunks! How far would they get? LOL!
Sweet Anne,
ReplyDeleteLovely pics as usual. Love the Pillsbury Fieldstone front. I miss cobblestone streets. We had a couple in Richmond where I grew up but they have either been paved over or taken up.
I really hope the Infed helps and she has no drastic reactions to it.
I love you,
oxox,
your snotball
Sweet Mrs. G-
ReplyDeleteOh his lordship surely isn't the only one. (And I have more)! Also, (and of course), many pics of Lambeau Field. I have gone to more than a few Packer Games in my life.
The Pedal Pub was new to us also! But boy!, I bet they make a few dollars too- As long as no one falls off that is.
They were going at a pretty good pace, and laughing and having a grand time!
Very cool to see! (Much like yourself, when you do get around to posting a new blog)! hehehe
XOXO

Thank you my Sweet Snotball;
ReplyDeleteI loved that area of town- so very cool to see- (And the river didn't even stink). That is probably due to the fact that Minnesota has had their share of rain too. Heard one gal on a different blog say that they had gotten too much rain.
When compared to how low the lakes of the Great Lakes are, and even here, the Bay of Green Bay, (not to mention my well); makes the flooding just a wee bit negligible.
We go to St V's on Tuesday to see about the Infed infusions.
XOXO

Yes Minnesota rocks, I should know, I live there/here!...lol
ReplyDeleteWhat part do you live in?
ReplyDeleteNice to go there I am sure- But lately we always go there when Casey is so sick.
It was so nice just to see a few things anyway.
My sister lived in Apple Valley fr a few years, so I spent lots of time traveling back and forth between Green Bay and Minneapolis. (It's a lot more fun when a person is only worried about checking out all the nicer restaurants and sharing a bottle of Blue Nun)! hehehe
XOXO

Sorry about Casey! I live in the country by Mankato just 60 miles south of there!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteSheesh- Some guys have ALL the luck!
hehehe (I wish I lived that close to the UM, sure would save on gas- and hotel, and food...).
Oh well!
Speaking of beds- (was too), it is time for me to throw some jammies on and go watch a bit of TV before turning in
