I was making a chicken salad last weekend- before we went to the lake- At some point (about 1/3rd through baking the chicken), my oven decided it was high time to die.
I doubled-wrapped the half cooked chicken and threw it outside to the garbage dumpster.
Last weeks temps were hi 80's and low 90's so the chicken proceeded to stink up the dumpster. Garbage was picked up on Wednesday.
Even AFTER it was picked up, the damn dumpster continues to reek to high heaven.
What do I do to rid the dumpster of this awful smell??? Bleach hasn't done it.
Vanilla is always good. Put some on a mop and wipe over all surfaces, Anna
Charcoal is on the top of the list of smell deodorizers as it is one of the best absorbent agents that can soak up the bad odor Vanilla Essence: Lemon or Lime Peels Mint Extract This link may give you some ideas about odours Anna.
Personally I dislike community Bins as other people seem to have no regard for other when putting in rubbish, we always wrap food waste then put it in the bin. http://www.airemaster.com/assets/pdf/Aire-Master_Catalog.pdf Dumpster Fresh is a long-lasting, eco-friendly dumpster deodorizer. This product neutralizes odors on contact. The odor-controlling granules are highly absorbent, biodegradable and non-corrosive. Not only do they absorb the substances responsible for odors, the granules suppress gaseous odors. As an added benefit, the granules contain citronella. Citronella oil deters flying insects. Sprinkle generous amounts of granules into the container and repeat as needed or after every service. The odor-controlling product is safe to use in garbage cans, garbage chutes, trash compactors and garbage trucks. Dumpster Fresh is available for purchase in one-pound containers.
Cat litter. It's cheap, absorbent and smells good if you get the kind that deoderize. By now the bin is probably half full if its a multi user bin, then your SOL until then next pick up. By then it should be mighty ripe with your decomposing chicken and.everyone else's who knows what. Good luck and I think Punk might have a few ideas.
Punk is all smiles so get out of the way so she can do her thing!!! LOL
If bleach didn't do it then I would suggest the Odoban or the suggestions Lester gave you for Dumpster Fresh. I think it's good to have some of this stuff on hand in case you get something that needs to go in the dumpster.
I'm not much help but at least I wrote something!! :)))))
Here's the scoop-
