HealthCare Mad

If you are not reading this and passing it on, you are only a part of the problem.

Good Evening;
You all know by now that I have a back that is worth less than a bucket of poop. So when I cannot be physically busy, I am online and reading up everything I can with respect to this HealthCare bill. It is, (if you haven't figured out already), THAT important to me.
I also feel it is that important to everyone that has 'health' (good, bad, or otherwise)...

I am not eloquent so bear with me.
Know that I write only what I have learned online.

Wilson’s protest against the current HealthCare reform proposal giving coverage to illegal immigrants (which is false), is in direct contradiction to his 2003 vote.

  • The TV is off.

  • The dog is asleep at my feet.

EducationMethinks we all need more of this.
Talk about an education with respect to all I have read... Kind of nice that, if one can really read and understand what they are reading. Free too.

I have been trying to get people to learn. Sometimes I feel that I am failing miserably, but if only one person "gets it" then my efforts are successful.

Most people haven't a clue why they are against the HealthCare reform!

  • In my optomism I believe that if people can just SEE the facts, and understand the lawyer~speak, then we will have a bill that passes.

  • The pessimist in me says that these people are unreachable and unteachable. They have made up their minds about this bill simply because someone or another told them to.
OR,

There are those that acknowledge that "something" needs to be done, but just don't want this particular bill.
Is there not a moral case for HealthCare?

Funny too, that those that are against it, can only cite these weird references of "I heard"... or "I don't like" or...
Not even close to good enough!
I have seen very few ideas, or hardcore examples of a better bill. (Wait that's another blog)...

Cite me something REAL that I can sink my teeth and my brain into.

CITE ME THE BILL, (and not by picking and choosing a few words that "may be" well misinterpreted and not understood by the masses).

CITE ME THE PARAGRAPH you have a problem with. And perhaps that problem can be explained.

It has been brought to my attention that this is not a perfect bill.  I wholeheartedly agree.
But I must also add that if we (as a new nation) had waited for perfection, we would still be under English rule!

Wait for perfection? You're kidding, right?! (Of course, this goes back to telling me WHAT -exactly- you don't like in the 1st place).

"Whatever may be motivating these Democrats, they don’t seem able to explain their reasons in public.
what’s really going on is that relatively [conservative Americans] still cling to the old dream of becoming kingmakers, of recreating the bipartisan center that used to run America...  this fantasy can’t be allowed to stand in the way of giving America the health care reform it needs

This time,
the alleged center must not hold.
"

Waiting for 'perfect' is not going to happen. This, because we, as a people, are not perfect. This, because we, as a nation are not perfect either. We are human, thus we are imperfect. And we always will be.
Get over yourself already!
It should go without saying anything that comes up, thought, written, done, or otherwise, will not be perfect.
Nor will it be one size fits all.

What I find awfully striking is that, to some, nothing will ever be good enough for them to be at peace with.

For those very few, I find you to be of a sad sort. And a terribly arrogant sort as well.
  • Perhaps you have had good health all of your life.
  • Perhaps you have always had a good job that provided you with insurance.
  • Perhaps that same job enabled you to be "comfortable" enough.

Know that you are in a shrinking minority.
That same minority depletes itself daily. Not only in America, but around the world.

Know that my personal definition tells me that you are to be pitied if you cannot learn something constructive every day of your life.

Marie Corelli wrote:
"He who will not reason is a bigot,
He who cannot is a fool,
And he who dares not is a slave.
No slavery is more abject, and no slave is in a more terrible condition than he whose every single brain-cell is enchained to senseless, incomprehensible dogmas; and who makes no effort at all to free himself from this slavery, knowing consciously or unconsciously perhaps, the utter absurdity of the doctrines he professes to cherish as true."

I have learned that 45% (forty-five percent) of Americans went without needed care because of costs in 2007.

"The claim ... that we plan to set up panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens ... is a lie, plain and simple." ~President Obama

As was pointed out on (a) previous blog(s), there is no 'death panel', although I am understanding why the thought of one may scare the bejeezus out of those who are idiotic enough to believe such a thing in the 1st place.
But what I don't understand is why people still see counseling wording as a death threat after having the truth in their face for months now.
Talk about dumb dogs. Wrong. My dog learns faster than that, only having the need to be told about 5 times before getting the hang of it.

If this is a test, way too many of us would flunk.
  • There are Republicans.
  • There are Democrats.
  • There are many other common titles, misnomers.

Funny, the only one I need is "American"...

If your insurance comes through United Health Care, you already have issue with their end of life clause.
(Or didn't you read the fine print there)?

If your insurer is Blue Cross and Blue Shield, they are using your premiums for elaborate parties.

When Private Insurers Claim They Can't Compete Against a Public Health Insurance Option, They Just Make Themselves Look Silly
www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-creamer/when-private-insurers-cla_b_220135.html
"Just conceptually, the notion that all these insurance companies who say they're giving consumers the best possible deal, if they can't compete against a public plan as one option, with consumers making the decision what's the best deal, that defies logic."

The Best Health Care Industry Lobbying Money Can Buy

Money talks and with multi-millions it bellows. The Center for Responsive Politics (CRP) keeps track of how loudly. It says that during the 2008 election cycle, health sector political contributions totaled over $167 million, and for the first time since 1992, Democrats got more than Republicans.

However, lobbying spending is far greater. With national attention on health care reform, corporate interests spent $126 million in 2009 Q 1, and topped it with "the most cash on federal-level lobbying efforts in" Q 2. "The health sector was the No. 1 sector, spending $133 million during the second quarter of 2009. And within the 100-plus industries that CRP tracks, the pharmaceutical/health products industry was again the top dog on K Street, spending roughly $68 million during the quarter."

The biggest contributors included the Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Amgen, and the American Hospital Association. These interests favor mandated insurance coverage but oppose a public option. Big Pharma also wants strong patent protection rights to delay the availability of cheaper generics and no change in the ability to charge high prices. Until health care issues are resolved, lobbying and political contributions will continue at a ferocious pace, and as always yield industry-friendly results at the expense of real change.

That's only possible with universal single-payer coverage, the one true fix off-the-table and not considered, so what's ahead is one of two options - leaving today's dysfunctional system in place or making it worse. Either way, US health care will keep costing more and delivering less. Financial solvency ahead will more than ever depend on staying well because illness for most Americans will be unaffordable. The best democracy money can buy assures it

"Covering the 50 million uninsured and upgrading coverage for the tens of millions who are underinsured will cost hundreds of billions each year. A single-payer reform would make this affordable through vast savings on bureaucracy and profits.

As we’ve shown, administration consumes 31 percent of health spending in the United States, nearly double what Canada spends. If we cut our bureaucratic costs to Canadian levels, we’d save nearly $400 billion annually — more than enough to cover the uninsured and to eliminate co~payments and deductibles for all Americans.

Altogether, U.S. hospitals could save about $120 billion annually on bureaucracy under a single payer system. And doctors in the U.S. could save about $95 billion each year, which they now waste fighting with insurance companies and filling out useless paperwork."

Hard Times And Health Insurance:
How Many Americans Will Be Uninsured By 2010?

Todd P. Gilmer and Richard G. Kronick
In earlier work we demonstrated that increases in the cost of health care accounted for the decline in insurance coverage from 1979 to 2002. Here we examine whether our model adequately accounts for observed changes in coverage though 2007, and we provide an estimate of the effects of the recession on the number of uninsured Americans through 2010. We project that the number will increase by at least 6.9 million.
The estimate does not directly take into account the additional effects of job losses, which are likely to add millions more to the number of uninsured Americans

Please just educate yourselves already!
That means taking the time to read the bill,

Don't bother about quoting the trash that Sarah Palin is putting out there.
(A web search will quickly dispel almost ALL of her claims as FALSE).

THESE ARE NUMBERS OF USA DEATHS PER YEAR

BY CAUSE:

12,000 -- unnecessary surgery
7,000 -- medication errors in hospitals
20,000 -- other errors in hospitals
80,000 -- infections in hospitals
106,000 -- non-error, negative effects of drugs

These total to 225,000 deaths per year from iatrogenic causes! These are IN ADDITION TO the 22,000 people that die every year because they do not have insurance

Using the figures above, that is 677 Americans every day.
28 people have died in the hour that it has taken me to put this out here for you.
Something has got to be done.

As I said, my back is a pile of poo, it is hard to sit for long. Having given up on my back, I am fortunate enough to have my brain functioning, ...most of the time.
My heart is in the right place as well.

As I began, so I will end.  If you are not spreading this around, then you are only and integral part of the problem.
I call that apathy at its finest.

Labor Day 2009 (Better Late Than Never)...

Good Morning All;
Playing "catch~up" once more...
But still haven't wound down from that spectacular game last night either!  What a way to start the season!
Go GREEN BAY! Whoo~Hoo!

For those of you who caught my blip about my dish~tv, my apologies for my sassy mouth. hehehe
But "sheesh" already!  Channel 26 in Green Bay is the absolute worst of all stations too. They will NEVER post a little ticker that says, "we are aware of the problem..."  Guess that is asking too much. And if they change programing? Forget it. You are on your own.
To answer Beep... I didn't stomp my feet. But I sure did cuss.
And that, in addition to the darned game!

Poor little Punk...
She has finally gets over last years Packers Season, (and the Tourette's Syndrome that I develop during football), and up starts another year.
She slaughtered a moth last night- sometime during the 3rd quarter-
Then looked to me as if to say, "ALL that noise for one little moth?!"

Back to Labor Day.

.
.
.
Cnv1126
I lit the fire with one little match!  How very cool!
Miss Ashley had helped me with the kindling-
Perhaps that is why it worked so well!

.
.
Before the day itself, Casey and their friend Brad got to weedwacking and clearing the fire pit. As a tribute to my back, this is the first time this pit has been used this year. They had their work cut out for them...

They had a great drying day as well,
so all the weeds met with the burn barrel fate.

I made the beans and the potato salad- And had bought the wieners too. I made a few dips and other stuff... Salsa, and some chili beer con queso too.

But no energy leftover for me after all that.

Kelli and Tim brought the pups- Poor Tim had to hold onto Miss Coco all afternoon.

But she was real good too.

Then came the surprise of the day for me!

Chuck with Baby Sam... Kelli, Tim; and Greg in the background
.
.
Sam was NOT happy for the first few minutes-
Who knew such a big noise could come from such a small child?! hehehe

After being grumpy for a bit, he cheered right up.  Let's face it, there was food and dogs. What more does a man need?
.
.
Cnv1164
.
.
And a willow tree that would even give him a leaf or three.
.
.
Cnv1169
Poor kid-
He had fallen asleep in the car-
Just not long enough for a good nap either.

Miss Ashley enjoyed the heck out of the weeping willow too-

The kids picked some pears and apples and plums, filling a few bags of goodies. (Which reminds me that I have to call Sue and Glenn to come get some more of their special deer food).

Sorry now that I didn't get pictures of the kids up the fruit trees!

And the end of the 60 year fire...
.

Afterward, we headed inside for a while- Janet helping Casey to bag everything up. (And me plunking down on the couch and staying there for the rest of the night).

My nephew Brandon is a rap artist. Unsigned yet, the contracts he has been offered not good enough.  At 17, he is not only talented, but quite patient with all the legal things too.  He has a brilliant mind, (and can rap, shooting from the hip).
I have never cared for rap music.  But wow, he is good! And if I only had to listen to him, then rap would be just fine with me!
CLICK HERE for his impromptu song, as Casey looked on...
And you had better CLICK too- It took me HOURS to post that to Flicker. (Sorry Slurk).

I'd better close for now and get moving here. To be in the mid 80's this afternoon. I have that spine man appointment then...
Must get Miss Punk outside now before she gets too pent up. (That Tourettes thing just gets her all upset). hehehe

Love to all

Hypothyroid Anyone?

http://thyroid.about.com/b/2009/08/28/fda-future-natural-thyroid.htm
What is the FDA Not Saying About The Future of Natural Desiccated Thyroid Drugs?

Thyroid Disease Blog, Mary Shoman

****The Armour Thyroid and Nature-Thyroid Shortage Information Center:
http://thyroid.about.com/od/thyroiddrugstreatments/tp/desiccated-thyroid-2009.htm

This past Wednesday, August 26th, I contacted the public affairs division of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), indicating that I was a writer and patient advocate looking into the status of natural thyroid. I explained that I had several straightforward questions:

* Is the FDA requiring ALL natural desiccated thyroid drugs to go through the new drug application (NDA) process, or only those manufacturers that have already been shut down?

* Is/will an NDA being required for the main drugs in the category: Nature-Throid, Westhroid and Armour Thyroid?

* If an NDA will be required for the drugs still on the market, will these drugs be removed from the market during the NDA process?

* If an NDA will be required for the drugs still on the market, and these drugs will be removed, WHEN would this be effective?

It took several days, but the FDA finally released an official "statement" in response to my question.

The Agency has not conducted a class action against unapproved thyroid products. As a policy matter, however, we do not discuss potential, pending, or ongoing actions except with the firms and individuals who are the subject of those actions. As information about enforcement actions becomes available it is posted on the FDA website.

In June 2006 the Agency published the guidance "Marketed Unapproved Drugs --Compliance Policy Guide" (the CPG). This guidance outlined the Agency's enforcement policies which we believe are well-suited to protecting the public health without imposing undue burdens on consumers or unnecessarily disrupting the market. For additional information regarding the FDA's actions against unapproved drugs, please access our unapproved drugs website at the following link.

While we waited for the FDA's response, thyroid patients at the Save Natural Thyroid Coalition were themselves calling the FDA's consumer information line -- (888) 463-6332 -- and were being told a variety of things by FDA staff. Some staff at the FDA have said that all natural thyroid was going to be pulled from the market, others said that the FDA denied any involvement at all in natural thyroid, others have said that the measures are currently only applying to the companies already targeted.

What's with all the contradictions? Officially, the FDA leaves the door open to do pretty much anything they want, but doesn't tell us anything that can actually help protect the health of thyroid patients. And then, in one-on-one conversations, their staff are offering all sorts of different scenarios.

Why is the FDA unable to provide clear, specific answers to thyroid patients about this critical issue?

And let's face it, we have a very troubling situation at present:

* Weeks ago, a major "big pharma" insider, Medco, sent a nationwide notice to doctors declaring that the FDA was taking all natural desiccated thyroid drugs off the market, and that doctors should switch patients to levothyroxine drugs
* We currently have an unexplained nationwide unavailability of Thyroid USP, the raw material that is used to manufacture natural thyroid drugs.
* Since the spring, production of three different natural desiccated thyroid drugs -- Biotech, TimeCapLabs and Major -- have been shut down. We know that TimeCapLabs was shut down in response to a publicly available notification letter they received from the FDA. The second-hand information is that Biotech and Major were also shut down by the FDA.
* We have the actual letter the FDA sent to TimeCapLabs, stating that natural desiccated thyroid requires a new drug application (NDA).
* Throughout the U.S., we have dwindling to non-existent supplies of Armour, Nature-Throid and Westhroid on the market, and most patients are now unable to get new or refilled prescriptions for these medications. Given the nationwide shortage of raw material, compounded capsules of natural desiccated thyroid is also unavailable to most patients.
* RLC is saying that it will be at least 90 days before they have any new product (Nature-Throid/Westhroid) to ship.
* Forest, which makes Armour, the most prescribed brand of natural desiccated thyroid, will provide no estimate whatsoever regarding when they expect to have any product available to ship.

And now, we have the FDA responding in a vague manner to a very specific request for information that affects millions of thyroid patients, patients who rely on natural desiccated thyroid drugs to treat a life-threatening health condition.

Am I being overly suspicious or alarmist? It's possible. Am I, as one FDA person apparently told a caller, just "that lady who is stirring up trouble?" I guess that could be.

But given these highly unusual circumstances, can and should we trust that the FDA has our best interests at heart?

Given that the big drug companies -- who have undue influence the FDA -- stand to benefit financially by getting natural desiccated off the market, should we assume that the lack of a clear answer from the FDA is a positive sign?

Should we all just "wait and see" for three months or more if natural thyroid drugs again become available?

What [else] does the FDA know that they're not willing to tell us?

Car Seats. Babies. And Americans.

Good Morning Everyone;
I am not overlooking the fact that there are things to be taken care of. (I am not forgetting that I need to do many things yet).
But I am not forgetting either.
Below is my recall of those terrible moments and days when we, collectively as Americans, truly united.

Not to need another reminder that we need to UNITE, we need only to respect life.

Peace.

September 11, 2001
From the Eyes, and the memory, of a Flintville American

Having just returned from Alabama late on the tenth- (a visit to my daughter,Roberta- son-in-law; William- and of course to see my grandson, Lawrence). I was sitting quite exactly where I am right now... Downloading and editing the zillions of pictures that I had taken from that trip. The photo above was taken on that trip... I was also babysitting my Little Miss Valerie; (full-time at that point). She was all of 7 months old.

I had fed her her breakfast- had brought her upstairs, and she was fast asleep in the magical land where babies go to see God during their naps...

My phone rang. It was Zoe, asking me if I had my television set on. I did not. She asked for me to turn it on right away, that there had been 'a terrible accident' at the World Trade Center. I assured her I would do so as soon as I was finished; and she asked me just to go take a look...

When I did turn the TV on, I saw the 1st Tower on fire- and the reports coming in that an airplane had hit it- A terrible accident... As I was thinking to return to my little office here, I heard even more commotion on the TV- Turning just in time to see the final seconds before the 2nd plane hit... At that point in time, I think my reaction was immediate horror, and thinking fast, I picked up the phone, called the high school and asked that Casey be at the front doors in about 15 minutes. Not knowing what else to say, I used the old standby "she is needed at home." I grabbed Valerie, and most unceremoniously threw her into the carseat, fastening her in securely- and thinking that our president could quickly impose a kind of lockdown of everyone everywhere. I headed to the high school. Casey, still uninformed, was packed and waiting for me- and had NO idea why on earth I would be picking her up from school? I tried to explain, but had the radio on- the announcers were doing a better job than ever I could have... I didn't want her to be away from home should the word come out that it wasn't safe for anyone to be going anywhere...

We filled the tank with gas, stopped both at the bank and the store, and headed for home. After placing Miss Valerie in the backseat of the Buick,I hurried to get all the groceries and things into the trunk.

The drive home is a county road, with two 90 degree curves thrown in for good measure... 3/4's of the way around that 1st corner, we heard this weird noise- Casey said, "Mom, pull over!" Turning to see why Casey would say such a thing, I saw that Miss Valerie's car seat had rolled and was completely upside down! (And yes, it IS funny now, but thinking that she was hurt- for even those few seconds was a sick sick feeling for me). In my hurry, I hadn't buckled the carseat in- (But in my defense, I didn't leave her at the store either)!!!

We came home- even more somber- and watched with horror as we saw the towers collapse. To this very day, that collapse is the single worse thing I have ever seen in my life- Knowing, that as those towers stood, all those people were still alive- that as they fell, all of them were simply gone; most NOT to be found, ever...

And my phone rang and rang and rang... Zoe wanting to know could she come out and stay and to be close to her own little girl- (by about 10:30, Humana had told all of its workers to go home). Jenne called too, and was already on her way out. We watched the TV for a time- then watched outside- We saw only military planes flying over- and low too- And there were none of the exhaust lines that you see trailing across the skies from all the jets and such. The air was calm, barely a breeze- a warmish day for the Eleventh Day of September... And very little traffic even out on the road- an ocassional dump truck, or a milk truck that went through- not too many cars- And the church bell rang and rang...

Later, I received about 4 calls from Roberta- at work in a gas station down in Alabama; and scared out of her wits. Scared to be so far away; and not knowing what would happen during the next while- Scared for her husband, and most importantly for her son... William has been in the Army and the Marine Corps- A "lifer" to the service of our country... He has been to the Gulf War- He has most recently been to Iraq- Someone for our Little Lawrence to be so proud of always...

I couldn't get ahold of Crystal or her family- They were living in Quantico at the time- Russell working at the Pentagon... Many emails later, to find out they were all safe and sound.

And still we held our collective breath all the day long, and the next, and onward- as we waited for even one survivor to be pulled from those towers... to be alive... and there were none...

Not knowing the futures, we made sure that our families and our homes were immediately protected, whatever it took.

In the days (daze) that followed, I know that one of the hardest things for me to do was to remain at home; only wishing I could be there to help somehow. And of course not knowing what it was I could have done anyway... But I could have helped the medics somehow- (what for ? - as no one emerged)... I could have made meals- Served them, not knowing to whom ? I could have helped with the cleanup of these now sacred grounds... But was more needed here for my own little family- ...And when you can do nothing else, you offer your heart and your prayers...

I believe we all did pray, whether we attended services or not. (Whether you 'believed' or not... You prayed, didn't you)?

We not only prayed for the people that had died, but for their families- For ourselves, for our own families, and for our own homes. For the security we will never take for granted another day in our lives. For the security that our grandchildren will now never know.

And we prayed for our America.

And we prayed for our Flag.

Where were YOU?
What did you feel?
(Did you remember to buckle the carseat)???

God Bless Our America .

God Bless Us Everyone...

More on Cell Phone Radiation...

Limit Your Exposure To Cell Phone Radiation

Four billion people around the globe own cell phones. As the market for new devices has grown, so have concerns about the safety of cell phone radiation.

Recent studies find significantly higher risks for brain and salivary gland tumors among people using cell phones for 10 years or longer. The state of the science is provocative and troubling, and much more research is essential.

We at Environmental Working Group are still using our cell phones, but we also believe that until scientists know much more about cell phone radiation, it’s smart for consumers to buy phones with the lowest emissions.

The U.S. government ought to require cell phone companies to label their products’ radiation output so that consumers can do the numbers at the point of sale.

It doesn’t, so EWG has created this user-friendly interactive online guide to cell phone emissions, covering over 1,000 phones currently on the market.

The "Rest of the Story"...

I have to also enclose the rest of the story for you all.

This story was only part of it.

At the bottom of this is the rest of it all... Posted in the dark red.

I would like to thank Oka and Peachie for even touching on the essay in their comments.

Repost of original from Tuesday

A Little Food For Thought...

Essay:  "A Day In The Life of Joe Conservative"
This essay is an original work by some guy.
By John Gray Cincinnati, Ohio -  jgray7@cinci.rr.com - Published July - 2004

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee.
  • The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards.

With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication.
  • His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised.
  • All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance -- now Joe gets it, too.

He prepares his morning breakfast: bacon and eggs.
  • Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo.
  • His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained.

Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath.
  • The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air.

He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to the subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work.
  • It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day.
  • He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union.

If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed,
  • he'll get a worker compensation or unemployment checks because some stupid liberal didn't think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

It is noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills.
  • Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.

  • Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime.
    • Joe also forgets that in addition to his federally subsidized student loans, he attended a state funded university.

Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive.
  • His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards to go along with the taxpayer funded roads.

He arrives at his boyhood home.
  • His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans.
    • The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification.

He is happy to see his father, who is now retired.
  • His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to.

Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show.
  • The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good.
    • He doesn't mention that the beloved conservatives have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day.
Joe agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have."

Note: This was originally published (anonymously) under the title A Day in the Life of Joe Republican.
But this is a misnomer. In the last 140 years, the Republican and Democratic parties have switched sides several times, with one being conservative and the other being liberal.

But labels and party affiliations change.
  • What doesn't change are the underlying political philosophies of liberalism and conservatism, and the fact that the liberals usually turned out to be right and the conservatives turned out to be wrong.

... And so it goes.

* This is where it truly gets scary.
I do not believe this is by the same author.

A Day in the Life of a True Conservative

Joe Conservative wakes up in the morning and goes to the bathroom.

He flushes his toilet and brushes his teeth, mindful that each flush & brush costs him about 43 cents to his privatized water provider. His wacky, liberal neighbor keeps badgering the company to disclose how clean and safe their water is, but no one ever finds out.

  • Just to be safe, Joe Conservative boils his drinking water.

Joe steps outside and coughs–the pollution is especially bad today, but the smokiest cars are the cheapest ones, so everyone buys ‘em. Joe Conservative checks to make sure he has enough toll money for the 3 different private roads he must drive to work. There is no public transportation, so traffic is backed up and his 10 mile commute takes an hour.

On the way, he drops his 12 year old daughter off at the clothing factory she works at. Paying for kids to go to private school until they’re 18 is a luxury, and Joe needs the extra income coming in.
  • Times are hard and there are no social safety nets.

He gets to
work 5 minutes late and misses the call for Christian prayer, and is immediately docked by his employer.

  • He is not feeling well today, but has no health insurance, since neither his employer nor his government provide it, and paying for it himself is really expensive, since he has a precondition. He just hopes for the best.

Joe’s workday is 12 hours long, because there is no regulation over working hours, and Joe will lose his job if he complains or unionizes.

  • Today is an especially bad day. Joe’s manager demands that he work until midnight, a 16 hour day. Joe does, knowing that he’ll lose his job if he does not.

Finally, after midnight, Joe gets to pick up his daughter and go home. His daughter shows him the deep cut she got on the industrial sewing machine today.

  • Joe is outraged and asks why she doesn’t have metal mesh gloves or other protection. She says the company will not provide it and she’ll have to pay for it out of her own pocket. Joe looks at the wound and decides they’ll use an over the counter disinfectant and bandages until it heals. She’ll have a scar, but getting stitches at the emergency room is expensive.

His daughter also complains that the manager made suggestive overtures towards her.

  • Joe counsels her to be a “good girl” and not rock the boat, or she’ll get fired and they’ll be out the income.

His daughter says she can’t wait until she’s 18 so she can vote for change or go to the Iraq War.

They get home and there’s a message from his elderly father who can’t afford to pay his medical or heating bills.

  • Joe can hear him coughing and shivering.

Joe turns on the radio and the top story is a proposal in Congress to raise the voting age to 25.

  • A rare liberal opinionator states that it’s an attempt to keep power out of the hands of working class Americans.

The conservative host immediately quashes him, calling him “a utopian idealist,” and agreeing that people aren’t mature enough to make good choices until they’re at least 25.

Joe chuckles at the wine-swilling, cheese eating liberal egghead and thinks, “Thank God I live in America where I have freedom!

Scary, right?

Shot! In The Back!

Monarch chrysalis...
On the door of the old shed-
Seems late in the season, but the young butterfly will make his upcoming 2000+ mile journey strong and safe.

Good Morning!

Once again, to thank you for your notes... I really am alright. hehehe

I did get the pain shots in my back early Tuesday morning.
The shots were not bad; and if they were, I don't remember, having been given versed (sp), before being shot.
I asked the doctor what he was giving me, and he answered.
I then asked if he was sure it was OK; because I did not feel like winding up like Michael Jackson.

He smiled and said yes, it was fine, and not to worry because HE didn't care to be winding up like Michael Jacksons doctor.
We both laughed. This exchange, just before I warned him that I have a mouth like a longshoreman when I am in pain.
(I noted there were 4 nurses in that OR, in addition to himself)...
Hmmm?

Yes, my lower back is feeling better- MUCH better. (Barely even a twitch)!
But that relief has left the door wide open to be feeling my middle and upper back, and my neck.
Add to that the fact that either the versed
(sp) -or the pain shots themselves have left me with an abominable migraine that keeps coming and going.  I will be going back to bed shortly. The preceding auras have been really bad lately.

Casey said she will be coming out this afternoon! YAY! I love that she calls me in-between her classes at UWGB also. Very reminiscent of her days at UW~River Falls; (all those years ago before she got sick).

Sick.
You knew it was coming...

I stand very proud of President Obama for his effort to dispel all the lies we have been inundated with of late, with respect to our HealthCare.
Hopefully those truths will finally begin to sink in to peoples hearts.  (Hopefully too that pervasive "shout out town hall" mentality will be dealt with too).

To do without Healthcare for any longer is not an option.
We need passage for our many friends and relatives who still do not have any coverage. (For those especially, who are already medically challenged and have no insurance to even afford to go in).
For them, and for all the rest, pray that it happens.

My love to all.

XOXO
Anne

Labor Day was AWESOME!

Good Morning All;
Labor Day was AWESOME!
I still have to get the pictures into the machine here so it will be a while before I am posting a blog about it all.

Not too sure what to expect today with that man that will shoot me in the back. Twice. (The fact that I am even going there, willingly, should tell you much about my state of mind).

But I do know I must get in the shower soon.
I still smell like the campfire, (having been too lazy and in too much pain to even think about a shower last night).

I am guessing I will probably be in a fair amount of pain from all that I have heard.
  • And if I will be, then you should be too.
    • After all, it is only fair. hehehe

Have a "wunnaful" Monday!

Love to all.

XOXO
Me

PS
Here's the article that may/may not cause you a bit of pain. For myself it did, having busted a gut in a few places, and then in the neck- (where I kept nodding)..

Not sure who said it... "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing"
I am finding that the more I read, the more I know.

A Little Food For Thought...

Essay:  "A Day In The Life of Joe Conservative"
This essay is an original work by some guy.

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee.
  • The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards.

With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication.

A THREE YEAR OLD BOY IS SITTING ON THE TOILET.
HIS MOTHER THINKS HE HAS BEEN IN THERE TOO LONG, SO SHE GOES IN TO SEE WHAT'S UP.

THE LITTLE BOY IS SITTING ON THE TOILET READING A BOOK.
BUT ABOUT EVERY 10 SECONDS OR SO HE PUTS THE BOOK DOWN, GRIPS ONTO TO THE TOILET SEAT WITH HIS LEFT HAND AND HITS HIMSELF ON TOP OF THE HEAD WITH HIS RIGHT HAND.

HIS MOTHER SAYS, "WILL, ARE YOU ALL RIGHT? YOU'VE BEEN IN HERE FOR A WHILE.”

WILL SAYS, "I'M FINE, MOMMY.. I JUST HAVEN'T GONE 'DOODY' YET."

MOTHER SAYS, "OK, YOU CAN STAY THERE A FEW MORE MINUTES. BUT, WHY ARE YOU HITTING YOURSELF ON THE HEAD?"

WILL SAYS, "WORKS FOR KETCHUP."
