Casey's Reaction to the Infed Infusion

"Objects in the rear view mirror"

Good Morning-
Friday already- Casey has a doctor appointment for 11; and I am typing fast because there are a few places I have to go also.
I also have yet to get in the shower.

To catch up a bit...

Casey had an almost immediate, and severe reaction, to the Infed. This is why her doctor wanted her at the hospital for this treatment.

St V's

We got settled in as they had taken her almost as soon as we had gotten there!

"Here we go again"

A very nice nurse, Miss Donna-
When Casey had explained about her veins being so shot- and the fact that they have a tendency to roll, Donna told her she would only poke her once. If that didn't work, she would call in the SWAT Team.

"I'll poke you once and call in the SWAT Team

Casey, getting poked...

True to her word, in came Miss Joy-

Cnv0641

Small veins, but she got the IV started at once.

Casey was then given 60 mg of Solumedrol, plus 50 mgs of Benedryl.
These were given to ward off any allergic reactions.
After those are given slowly, we wait for an hour for those meds to kick in and be ready...
We were told that at the end of the infusion Casey would also receive 60 more of the Solumedrol before she went home.
We never got that far-

About 1 minute into the test dose, Casey had a reaction in her arm- This is not a bad thing- just that she needed a bit more dilution.
2 minutes in and her back cramped up terribly.  This is major, and indicative of kidney/renal damage.
Donna stopped this test dose and immediately called Casey's doctor. He stopped the entire process.
Donna could not even flush the vein as there remained ½ the test dose in the tubing.

After watching her for a while, then very shortly we were on our way.

How many ramps have we seen?

Wondering how many different ramps we have been in?

Casey was better, but still hurting on the way home-
But Mama knows how to make her feel a bit better...

Casey at Kelli's

We stopped at Kelli's-

The best prescription for Casey

Casey with the horses-

May following me...

And Miss May following me like a little lost sheep.   hehehe

We finally got back here after those horses got a bunch of loving.
She still felt like crap.

But was made much better...

Greg and Casey
  ... when Greg got here!
Awwwww, aren't they just so cute?!

I will let everyone know what Casey's doctor decides to do next...
She is quite pale once more- and weak too- Such is par for anemia.

I hope you all have a 'wunnaful' weekend!
Love to all

My pictures won't show up on my blog. I hope they show up for you?

Games With Words: The Communication Game

http://www.gameswithwords.org/TheCommunicationGame/index.html

Good Morning;
And get your thinking caps on!

Words are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to understanding what someone says.
Much is left unsaid.

Read sentences and try to figure out what they mean. How good are you at reading between the lines?
This should take you between 2 and 4 minutes, depending on connection speed.

Sentences are very short, and written on a 3rd grade level. So this should be easy for anyone.

One little caveat.
You must include your copy/paste personal score if you wish to comment.

Have fun! I did.

“We have a biological father and mother, but our real father is Tunkashila [Creator] and our real Mother is the Earth.”

Who really gives us our life?
Who really gives us our food and nurturing?
Who really allows us to be born?

We are born through our parents who act as the vehicle of life for the Creator and Mother Earth. Our parents take care of us for a little while and when we are ready we must leave them and be faithful to our true Father, the Creator, and our true Mother, the Earth. Then we need to be of service to the Creator and be respectful to Mother Earth.

Great Spirit, thank you for being my Father. Teach me to honor the Earth.

With respect to the "ground zero mosque" (which it is neither), I have yet to hear ANY Muslim complaining about the YMCA in any town.

To God, I hope you don't mind

To God,

I hope you don't mind, but we would like to talk to you-
There are some things we need to straighten out-

It is about these Christians.
They claim to be from your nation. But man, you should see the things they do all the time- blaming it on you-

Raping the Earth.
Lying.
Taking more than they need -in all the forms of the greed.
They say it's God's will

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but you know how it is. My people have their own ways. We never even heard of you until not long ago.
Your representative spoke magnificent things of you, which I was willing to believe.
And the way they acted.

We know you.
We were being deceived.
It is time for you to decide what life is worth.
We already remember, but maybe you forgot
.

At times they were kind, they were polite in their sophistication, smiling, but never too loudly, acting in a civilized manner; an illusion of gentleness- always fighting to get their way.
... while the people see, the people know, the people wait, the people say the closing of your doors will never shut use out, the closing of your doors can only shut you in.

We know the predator, we see them feed on us, we are aware to starve the beast is our destiny. At times they were kind, they were polite, but never honest.

We see your technological society devour you before your very eyes- we hear your anguished cries exalting greed through progress while you seek material advances -the sound of flowers dying carry messages through the wind. trying to tell you about balance and your safety

But your minds are chained to your machines -and the strings dangling from your puppeteers hands turning you, twisting you into forms and confusions beyond your control

Your mind for a job, your mind for a t.v., your mind for a hair dryer, your mind for consumption.

With your atom bombs, your material bombs, your drug bombs, your racial bombs, your class bombs, your sexist bombs, your ageist bombs

Devastating your natural shelters making you homeless on earth chasing you into illusions fooling you, making you pretend you can run away from the ravishing of your spirit

While the sound of flowers dying carry messages through the wind trying to tell you about balance and your safety.

Trying to isolate us in a dimension called loneliness- leading us into the trap believe in their power; but not in ourselves- piling us with guilt- always taking the blame- greed chasing out the balance- trying to isolate us in a dimension called loneliness

economic deities seizing power through illusions created armies- are justified class systems are democracy- god listens to warmongers prayers- tyranny is here, divide and conquer- trying to isolate us in a dimension called loneliness

greed- a parent insecurity- the happiness- companion- genocide conceived in sophistication technologic material- civilization a rationalization, replacing a way to live- trying to isolate us in a dimension called loneliness

To god we hope you don’t mind but we would like to talk to you; there are some things we need to straighten out, it’s about these Christians they claim to be from your nation but man you should see the things they do all the time blaming it on you:
manifest destiny, genocide, maximized profit, sterilization, raping the earth, lying taking more than they need in all the forms of the greed.
We ask them why, they say it’s god’s will.

Damn god, they make it so hard.
Remember Jesus?
Would you send him back to them, tell them how to kill him, rather they should listen stop abusing his name, and yours.

We do not mean to be disrespectful but you know how it is, our people have their own ways we never even heard of you until not long ago, your representatives spoke magnificent things of you which we were willing to believe, but from the way they acted we know we and you were being deceived.

We do not mean you and your christian children any bad, but you all came to take all we had -we have not seen you but we have heard so much it is time for you to decide what life is worth
we already remember but maybe you forgot.

Look at us, look at us, we are of Earth and Water
Look at them, it is the same
Look at us, we are suffering all these years
Look at them, they are connected.
Look at us, we are in pain
Look at them, surprised at our anger
Look at us, we are struggling to survive
Look at them, expecting sorrow be benign
Look at us, we were the ones called pagan
Look at them, on their arrival
Look at us, we are called subversive
Look at them, descending from name callers
Look at us, we wept sadly in the long dark
Look at them, hiding in tech no logic light
Look at us, we buried the generations
Look at them, inventing the body count
Look at us, we are older than America
Look at them, chasing a fountain of youth
Look at us, we are embracing Earth
Look at them, clutching today
Look at us, we are living in the generations
Look at them, existing in jobs and debts
Look at us, we have escaped many times
Look at them, they cannot remember
Look at us, we are healing
Look at them, their medicine is patented
Look at us, we are trying
Look at them, what are they doing
Look at us, we are children of Earth
Look at them, who are they?

Think.
Be rational.
Be kind.

The Hole...

   This one's for Gritter!
Casey, at The Pumpkin Festival in Thorp.

Good Morning!
I am still catching up so you'd best grab a cuppa coffee, it's a windy one.

Most of you already know that I fell in a hole.
Wasn't my fault-  But I do have the explanation now.

Yesterday afternoon, Kelli and Tim had brought the trailer over- (I'll blame them)! hehehe

Kelli and Tim

While Tim parked the trailer, Kelli and I had wandered over to pick some squash.

Remember these pictures from last Spring?
A little handful of saved seeds, and a little bending...

Seeds   ◊◊◊◊◊◊   Me, Planting seeds May 2010

Those few little seeds I'd saved grew into a lot of beautiful squash!

Humungous Squash
Mmmmmm !!!!
The one on the left is your average store-bought Butternut Squash.
The one on the right must have found some growth hormone in that soil.
(Yes, that is a dime, almost lost, between them).

I've been picking a few of those here and there-
Even leaving some for the neighbors, in their driveway    hehehe
(And keeping some for me too)!

Back to my little adventure- into the hole...

This was no ordinary hole- But not a cavelike opening into the earth either. It was large enough for a small herd of fattened gophers to enter ALL at the same time- But big enough to sink into, and tight enough to entrap my leg.

I swear on my parents graves that this hole was never there before!

Chimney on the tombstone?
A rough winter ahead? -Or is Pa smoking again?
Sure looks like a chimney up there to me?!?!  hehehe

Perhaps the hole is a foxhole?
(I haven't seen any of those beasties since we saw the wolves a few years back).

Not sure, but when the ground(cover), and vines, gave way I sunk clear up to my knee!
Tim had seen the whole thing from the truck- Kelli had been picking squash.

I didn't break anything, but I was injured. (Pride being what it is). hehehe

Punk, nursing a broken heart because Mr. Miller and Miss CocoBeans did not come.

What Happened?
But always vigilant too
She'd heard me squeal; then heard Kelli and I laughing quite loud-
So she was off to check it out...

She didn't even have to dig!

The Hole
Among those wilted, (frozen), squash vines, that dog darn near disappeared too!

She emerged with a dirty face-

Dirty Face-
It's only dirt, thank goodness. Her face did not smell of skunk. Whew.  One day I'll spy something that doesn't belong, and let you know what it is that tried to kill me.
Glad I really didn't get hurt-

Kelli also found this quite entertaining-

Tim and I, Bad Backs
Tim and I -almost twins- with our matching little back braces.
The very picture of health, right! (And how to age gracefully)! hehehe

I'd better close for now- Went to Wouters' Front last night and ordered prime rib.
Didn't get any wash done then, so it's time for me to start emptying my hamper.
Supposed to be another beautimous Sun(ny)day, so I'll hang the old quilts on the line.

Wasn't too good for the Minnesota Twinkies yesterday -the Yanks kicked their butts.
(And our 'wunnaful' Badgers beat those Minnesota Gophers too)!

Hopeful that today our Packers can hold on to beat Washington too!
Go Pack!

Cnv0619
What's on YOUR pumpkin?

Game is at noon, so will have lunch for halftime if anyone wants to come watch with me!
Casey will be heading to Marsha's today-  A bit of help with her biology course.
Maybe they will come out after that.

Time to start attacking that hamper.
Love to all! Have a 'wunnaful' day!

Leaving Minneapolis. (And an update on Casey).

   Taken near to Dinkytown...
A downtown view of Minneapolis from the banks of The Mississippi.

Good Morning All;
A chilly morning, but we are to get to the 70's today so I am happy for that.

As we checked out of our hotel in Minnesota, Punk went to the front desk and patiently awaited her treat.

Punk- Waiting for her Treat from the Front Desk @ Days

She loves this place like no other we have ever gone to.
And God only knows how many places that amounts to from Froedtert in Milwaukee, to Mayo Clinics in Rochester, to, to, to
-

She loves most of the staff too- There are a few she has nothing to do with, (one of the janitors, and one of the desk people). These people want nothing to do with her, so she obliges.

Otherwise EVERYONE there loves her as well.
(And always has treats for her).

Casey, Punk and Pat Chiankhamphet

Punk, Casey and Pat, as we were checking out-

On the corner was a man selling tickets to the Gopher Football game

Need Tickets?
Looks kinda silly too.

We drove past the TCF Stadium- We have watched this entire building be constructed, part by part, since we have been coming to Minnesota.

Nice to see it being used now!

TCF Gopher Stadium

And on toward the Mississippi River banks...

Pedal Pub

From
here,  The Pedal Pub
"Bicycle built for Brew"
  hehehe

Pedal Pub- "Loaded"
Not an empty seat anywhere!
A beautiful day, and we saw a few of these!

"The PedalPub offers tours of different Twin Cities neighborhoods -- mostly bar tours, of course. While it looks like a bar and even has a spot for a keg, state law prohibits drinking on the PedalPub. Its owners hope to get their contraption grouped with limos and party buses, which would allow drinks on board (anything non-alcoholic is allowed). Its newness -- there's nothing like it in the state and perhaps the country -- means the legal landscape is bumpy."

We took a little drive through an older neighborhood.

Casey and Punk- Hennipen Bridge
Punk and Casey- on the banks of The Mississippi River.
Check how Casey has the leash... Punk wanted to jump in so bad!

The textile mill-

North Star Blankets
From here, "The North Star Woolen Mill is a building in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. The building, located in the St. Anthony Falls Historic District, was originally a textile mill for the North Star Woolen Company. The mill was built in 1864 by W.W. Eastman and Paris Gibson on the west side of the west side canal. High quality wool blankets, scarves, flannels, and yarns were manufactured at the facility and it became the nation's largest manufacturer of wool blankets by 1925.

Then to round a corner and see this building...

Pillsbury Mill
From here, "
Pillsbury once claimed to have the largest grain mill in the world at the Pillsbury "A" Mill overlooking Saint Anthony Falls on the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. The building had two of the most powerful direct-drive waterwheels ever built, each putting out 1200 horsepower "

More Pillsbury (very cool) pictures, gallery, and history... here.

Check out the cobblestone streets!

CobbleStone Pavement

After a moment or two of getting turned around, we were headed home!

Old Man River

It is always such a good feeling to cross the bridge!

After speaking to Casey's hematologist in Minnesota, her doctor here has reluctantly agreed to use Infed on Casey... But due to the dangerous side-effects of it, he will only agree to have her infusion done at a hospital.

As I type, he is waiting to hear back from a colleague that will be supervising everything.
She is such a little  rascal, this youngest one of mine - - -  Please think of her often?

My love to all.

'Well you see, Norm, it's like this . . .

Rating:
Category:Other

"A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

From the Back Forty, to Minneapolis- To my favorite spot in the woods.

a hands-on type of love...

     Punk- Happy in the car!

Good Evening all
I can't believe that I haven't updated!
Know that I still have pictures to upload to Flickr from Minnesota-
So that means I am not even caught up with our Minnesota trip, let alone what's been going on since we got back home!
(Perhaps you will see more than one or two updates soon).

In my last blog, I had left off with Punk getting a little love in the hotel room.

But of course there is MORE to that story! hehehe

Know that the only thing I did to them was make the pics smaller- (For faster uploading).

They
remain in chronological order.

Funny Face, I love you!
This of course is CaseyFace- waiting for one of her doctors...
(Cute, ain't she)?
hehehe

After her tests we had gone back to the hotel-
Order a bite to eat- and remind Punk that she is loved.

This generally means a hands on type of love...
"Hands on" means a bit of wrestling to a dog.
hehehe

A little LOVE!
Miss Punk ♥LOVES♥ her Sponge-Bob almost as much as she loves her Casey!

"Gimme it. It's MINE!!!"

Wrestling with Punk
"ALL MINE!!!"

Darn it!  Don't even TRY to hide it on me!

Casey and Punk

"I will hunt you down like the DAWG I am!"

But wait...

Casey and Punk????

What was THAT?

Casey and Punk...

Ummmm    ...
No really!  Stop laughing Casey!  -What was THAT?!?

Somebody ought to be able to tell us what happened? Pretty please?
Love to all.
