A thirty~second blog here...
The doctor, (Dr. Melena Bellin) has just informed us that Casey will be needing surgery ASAP to check the bleeding into her abdomen that was brought on by the heparin.
This surgery should only take about 45 minutes. Will keep you all posted.

Yesterday when I was comparing the pictures of her incision, from right after her surgery to the most recent pictures you posted, I noticed that it looked like blood was pooling down near the bottom of her incision. I hope all goes well, and that she'll start to feel better after this is done. Prayers and positive thoughts on their way!
ReplyDeleteDear Lord, please guild the hands that will help this child heal. Hold her in Your arms to comfort her, whisper in her ear how much she is loved, give her strength, desire and determination in her heart and mind. Lay Your strong hand on her mamma's shoulder so she knows that she is not alone. This I pray in Jesus' name.
ReplyDeletePraying here!

Praying, and praying again.

ReplyDeletePrayers, prayers, and more prayers!
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone...
ReplyDeleteSo much for a 45 minute surgery.
She is out of the whole surgery thing but will not be back in her room for a few hours at least.
The doctor came out and told me that they had removed 2 liters of blood and fluid from her little abdomen.
They were in the process of stapling her closed as we spoke. "Staples" this time in case they have to go back in (then they would only have to open a staple or two instead of the whole incision).
I call bullshit. They shouldn't have made her bleed in the first place. (But I didn't tell him that)
He said they will turn off the heparin for 4 hours and then see how she does when they resume it. This was all because they basically OD'd her on the heparin to begin with.
Go fugure.
Love to all, and again my many many thanks
XOXO
Me
ReplyDeleteOh and they also removed a clot that was a little bigger than a golf ball from her duodenum.
A little late but still adding some prayers
ReplyDeletePoor Casey, and she seemed to be off to such a good start after her surgery too. Well, now she can really start to recover, and this time her doctor better keep a closer eye on her.
ReplyDeletestill praying~for both of you!!
ReplyDeleteDamn Im sorry to hear Casey needs more surgery, fingers crossed that all comes out well.
ReplyDeleteI've been checking in every 15 - 30 minutes. My phone was out in the car. Thank you though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update...still praying!
ReplyDeleteYou both are in my prayers. Maybe this time she will start to recover for real.
ReplyDeleteI am late today...
ReplyDeleteBut will keep continious prayers coming your way!
Love you both!
Casey is in my prayers! Hugs
ReplyDeleteWhat??!!?? Bout time that danged doctor got back into this! I know they are stretched thin but hey....our Casey needed him!
ReplyDeleteI pray they got to the problem and all will be on the mend now.
Love, Hugs and Prayers.......Peachie
Ohhhhhhhh Crap! I am sorry to hear this. I hate even the thought of them having to go opening her up again, much less saying it may not be the last time. I am praying...and while I know how much that helps, I still wish there was something more I could do.
ReplyDeleteI will say a prayer for Casey. Hugs all around...
ReplyDelete*hugs*
ReplyDeleteLawd oh mighty will this ever end???..Of course Casey needs heparin after such a serious surgery and thank God she was getting it or that blood clot could've been much worse, but are they doing PT/PTT lab draws (blod clotting factors) to make sure she doesnt have too much heparin or not enough???..it's so critical to keep tabs on that everyday..I'm sure they are???..You are both in our thoughts and prayers every minute..Love to you xoxo

ReplyDeleteHi all...

*pulls up a chair, grabs a magazine, and waits*
ReplyDeletehehehe
Thank God that Dr. Sutherland will be back tomorrow.
ReplyDelete(We were previously told that he wouldn't be back til Wednesday).
Casey is resting RELATIVELY comfortably. She slept a bit after they got her back to the room...
Then she was up and at em again.
Said it actually hurt less to stand.
Then came the blood draws at about 5-
And some Fentanyl on top of the dialudid. So back to lying down.
The bloodwork came back at 6-
They will NOT be restarting the heparin until at least midnight- Til they can see if her counts keep dropping- Her next draw willbe at 11pm tonight.
Her RBC was around 14 during surgery- (and when she was receiving the 3 units of blood).
They have since dropped to 11.somedamnnumber.
They are checking the PTT or TPP or whatnot- But cannot give the heparin if she still has a bleeder on the inside. (Which would account for her RBC dropping off so much already).
Her heart rate is in the 130's and 140's, and her b/p is pretty good at about 110/70 (High for her, but not alarming like her heart rate is. The nurse said she would check on her every hour to take her vitals.
I am worried sick...
My back and feet are killing me... (And I thought my damn head was an awful way to start the day)...
I am so afraid to sleep until after midnight because if I do not hear the call I will never forgive myself for not being there.
I should have taught Punk to bark when the cell rings...
Love to you all, and many thanks for being with me all day here...
I really don't know what I would do without you all.
XOXO
Me
So... Any questions?
Just one...do you need anything???
ReplyDeletehow are you?
ReplyDeleteYou know where to find me if you need me.
Another friend checked in on last night's conversation. one who is actually familiar with the procedure though has never done it himself.
ReplyDeleteA better mattress?
Other than that, supper would be nice.
hehehe
Pretty well set- Even the front desk took Punk out today for me...
XOXO
Me
ReplyDeleteAND?????
XOXO
Me
Be right back kids...
ReplyDeletePunk is telling me she wants another snowcone...
Or maybe just to go "decorate" another snowbank...
((((((((((Anne))))))))))))
ReplyDeleteSorry I can't offer anything more than hugs & prayers
:-(
Please try to rest...
I know that is so much more easier said than done though...
He thinks that this is more related to the surgery on a weak pin cushion over the actual procedure.
ReplyDeleteHe also says that it is wonderful that they had enough of her own cells to do the transplant as that is the bestest way to have a full recovery with no need to take anitrejection drugs for life and most likely avoid diabetes.
He and Mike have talked and they both agree that the too much heparin thing was a problem and a blessing since it kept the clot small but caused bleeding.
They are both watching the emails and both are telling you to hang in there as it sounds like they are paying attention to the right things now.
Wish I were closer, I'd bring ya something good to eat and would sit and wait for the phone so that you can get some much needed sleep. Is there anyway that the front desk can alert you to a phone call? Like maybe give the hospital the hotel's number so that if they can't raise ya on your cell, someone from the front desk could come wake you up? You definitely need some rest.
ReplyDeleteprayers, prayers, and more prayers going up...
Both of you will be in our thoughts & prayers, Anne. Please take good care of yourself too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping us posted. Big hugs!
I'm worried sick for you and Casey... I sure wish I could be there with you in person, but I'm with you in spirit. How is Greg taking this? Is he planning a trip to be with Casey?
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeletehehehe
No rest for the wicked...
XOXO
Me
And she was WAY weak by the time they finally got to take care of her doing the surgery.
ReplyDeleteConnie was SO right about what she said above. I DO wonder how much could have been avoided had they just listened to me instead of playing this damned hide and seek game from Friday evening straight through to Saturday afternoon...
Please tell the good doctors I say thank you a million times over.
So nice to know that there are even more kindly ears hanging out...
Thank yourself too.
Wonder why they didn't 'catch' that clot on all the US's she had done, or on any of the xrays?
XOXO
Me
ReplyDeleteThank you for the suggestion...
The hospital does have the number here and the room # that I am in too.
Not sure, but I think maybe I could even give them my cell phone to answer.
XOXO
Me
We do always give it the old college try- to hang in there even when we think we can't...
ReplyDeleteNow don't YOU be making yourself sick over this all.
ReplyDeleteWill your spirit please answer my phone then? hehehe
Greg was unreachable today. I ended up calling his friend Buck to get hold of him.
Something up with his phone. Casey was upset too.
He said he would reboot the whole thing- Wouldn't you know it's an AT&T account??? I told him AT&T and Yahell both suck.
XOXO
Me
He has to work this week. Not sure when he will come back to Minneapolis...
You have to rest!
ReplyDeleteNow what would happen if YOU got sick?
Then I would have to come and take care of the both of ya's...
(that wouldn't be a bad thing though, would it??)
hehehe
ReplyDeleteSo does your brother have any more frequent flyer miles?
I don't get sick (knock on wood), just my head and my back.
XOXO
Me
Just got home from work & checked in - hoping to find things much better. WOW! What you all are going through! I work at a hotel & I just know that if the staff there is half as good as ours is - they will be falling all over themselves trying to do anything at all to help out!!!! Sometimes it helps to rely on strangers!
ReplyDeleteAm gonna try to keep up at work!
Hang in there! Your are blessed with so many friends all pulling & praying for you! Count me one of them - I'd be in very good company!
Many prayers to you!
Cheryl
As a matter of fact...
ReplyDeleteI think he might...
You don't know HOW bad I wished my flight would have went back through Minneapolis... I would have missed my connection for a chance to see you and Casey...
This from my regular email...
ReplyDeleteThere really is comfort in knowing that others are having issues with Multiply
____
Annie,
I read in my e-mail about your post on multiply about
Casey having to have another surgery. As always, my
thoughts are with both of you, And I'll be saying more
prayers for her that it goes well, and for her recovery,
and for you for comfort and strength. I LOVE YOU BOTH!
I would have posted on multiply, but I can't seem to
get into my site there for some reason. Only way I have
to keep up on you and Casey and everyone else on
multiply is with e-mail beta, I can read blogs through it.
Hopefully, I can get on the site again soon, but until
then, I'll have to e-mail you my replies. Everyone else
I don't have their e-mail addresses.
Thoughts and prayers are with you and Casey.
Much love and many hugs and kisses~ Susan XOXOXO
Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteIt is very very good to be reading all of these kind words from people that I have not met, but whom I feel I 'know'
I really and truly am blessed.
Casey knows this too.
XOXO

ReplyDeleteAwww
That would have been SO nice too!
But it would have messed up your baby girls Christmas, and I would not have allowed that.

I always admire the strength that both of you possess, Anne. I'm sure all will work out well for you and family. Hugs & kisses to both of ya!
ReplyDeleteOK... am going to eat dinner... Will check back with you in a bit...
ReplyDeleteKnow Anne that I love you and Casey bunches!
Hard to say. internal bleeding doesn't generally just go away.
ReplyDeleteand had they stopped the drugs sooner perhaps the clot might have been more of a problem and or gone unnoticed longer.
Breathe and remember everything happens for a reason. Stay alert and keep doing what you are doing. IT WILL ALL BE FINE.
I will be sure to pass along your message. They don't feel like they know enough to help, but they are willing to listen.
You are welcome. it comes around. You have been there for me.
ReplyDeleteThank you... for everything!
XOXO

ReplyDeleteYou would mention food...

After calling her godmother, and hearing that Casey had texted her not too long before; I spoke to Casey before I fell asleep. She actually sounded pretty good!
ReplyDeleteI do not yet know if they restarted the heparin or anything else.
And must get in the shower early now if I am to catch Dr. Sutherland's visit.

Prayers & Good wishes go with you today.
ReplyDeleteDear Anne,
ReplyDeleteI just got back in town from our trip to upstate NY and thought I'd catch up on how you and Casey are doing. My, you two have been thru it! Girl, ya'll are in our prayers for a speedy recovery and strength/blessings & sanity back in your lives. Being a mom myself I cannot imagine having to go thru all this with one of my kids...so much easier when it is yourself in "the hot seat" so to speak. But God can turn bad experiences into positive ones. I can't help but think that all you have been thru will be used one day to help others in a similar situation. Love and prayers coming your way. Hugs to Casey and of course some (plus a back massage for your aching back and motrin/caffiene for your hurtin' head) to you as well. ly, Sally in sunny San Diego (I had enough snow last week, I'm ready for sunshine again, lol)
Still praying for Casey and you. Keeping the faith as it were.
ReplyDeleteI was without a computer over Christmas and was anxious to get Casey updates. I'm sorry she had to go through another surgery. I lift you both up in prayer right this minute for complete healing, rest for the weary, safe travels on your way home and a long, healthy, pain-free life for both of you!
ReplyDeleteI do hope and pray with your next visit on here you will have good news for us all. Rest when you can.
ReplyDeleteWhat's a little gas among friends??
ReplyDeleteI have this...
And if that doesn't work I also have this...
Now shall I heat up your plate of spaghetti???
On a serious note...
I do hope Casey is doing better today. Prayers are coming your way continually!
Love Ya!
Slurkie
