. . . . . . . . & WHY the fah~reak is it on my screen door?!? . It was about an inch long... And it's ONLY redeeming quality is that it was on the OUTside.
well it does resemble a roach only it isnt one and it does resemble a lotus only it isnt one of those either. It certianly is not a grass hopper. But Anne us country gals in Pikeville catch such mysteries and keep them in jars till they die because we dont know what they eat.....LMAO
Second attempt to comment. It does resemble a roach but it isn't one. It kinda resembles a lotus but it isn't one of those either. It certainly isn't a grass hopper although maybe a cricket. Anyway us county gals catch such oddities and keep them in a jar till they die cause we don't know what to feed them. LOL
I would have to guess a box-elder bug. Looks very close to one of those. I'm a city girl. Yes, I would have squirted something at it. The other choice is Hubby doing something like catching it and letting it go.
lmao punk ate it??? it doesnt look like a roach to me it looks like a spider! My sister lived in the mountains and I made the mistake while staying with her one time to kill a spider that was in her home and she bout smacked me silly said something about its their land and they deserve respect and she insisted next time I see any living thing in her house to capture it and put it back outside, that night I told her husband perhaps shes on too much medication ;)
Yep...squash bug. Its a bug that needs to be squashed! Hehehehe!
I was gonna say it looked like a cousin to the stink bug only with fancier duds on. You know, sorta like the wealthier version of the stink bug who can afford more colorful clothes . :)
It has a REALLY SKINNY head AND neck, (hey I know people like that)! hehehe Sorry, not a squash borer.
My son in law William called this afternoon- A nice long conversation too! (Thank you William)!, He saw this... and had to tell me that ugly guy up there is called either an "Assassin Bug" or a "Kissing Bug." (I think he said they are the same, not sure).
He said a lady down there got bit by one- and lost the whole tip of her nose! (Some kisser)! Gross, none the less...
I will say this... Whatever it is- if I would have had the hiccups at that point in time, I would never get them again. Not ever!
Mimi used to be the same...she holds of spiders now. She got bit by one she was eating, and 1/2 her face swelled up. She didn't learn the first time, she did it once more. Now she stays of the spiders
Here is a little of what it says: "Most Assassin bugs are found in late June to early August, but can be active year-round in the Central Valley of California. These bugs have a long narrow head, long beak (three-segmented), long slender antennae (four-segmented) and an abdomen often widened at the middle exposing the margins of the segments beyond the wings. An adult may reach 3/4" long.
Assassin bugs, sometimes known as conenoses or "kissing bugs," are occasionally found in the home (bathtubs, sinks, drains, etc.). " ________________________________
hehehe I am giggling at the "conenoses" . My bug does have a conenose.
But they think and talk both on that movie Bugs Life! (hehehehehe) Can you imagine what the other bugs are saying about this bug here? He would be the one all the other bugs would point at and call names. Can't you just hear them saying...."Hey thorny butt.... Where's your girlfriend?"
And by this bug here....I mean the one Casey posted below.
Three cheers for Punk the exterminator! My cats are in charge of bug patrol in my house, they don't kill a bug/lizard right away they like to torture it for a half day or so and let the bug/lizard die a slow painful death. Then they leave the bug/lizard remains some place where I'll step on it in the dark. (They're afraid of spiders though, so we're training Doc to take care of those.)
looks like the cousin of the roach....icky
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a grasshopper
ReplyDeleteagrees gross, did you kill it???? city girls kill such things! and no not with our hands, we squirt something on it and run.

ReplyDeleteIt's pretty st00pid then, being it was on the screen?
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteMaybe a VW?
Our box elders aren't that flashy--- But if ya wait a day or two and the sun comes out I can show you one of those up here.
ReplyDeleteIt was already outside.
Here's a site for you... What's that bug! They will try their hardest to tell you the exact type.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.whatsthatbug.com/2008/10/13/spiny-assassin-bug-2/
She will eat ANYthing that makes me go "eek".
ReplyDeleteOk, I don't say "eek" ... But if I startle, she comes to my defense.
Already this year she has eaten about 100 moths- (She has to growl at them first- Then throw herself at them).
They don't stand a chance...
These must have tasted especially good to her...

PS
I think you are right about your sister. What'd'ja do, hit her upside the head with one of your soda bottles?

ReplyDeleteAll spiders have 8 legs.
Yes, that includes shrimp, crabs, and wood ticks...
ReplyDeleteYup

ReplyDeleteScary is what that is, well was. LOL
ReplyDeleteAt least Punk took care of it for ya!
Ewww...ewwww...ewwww! I would hate to be the bug in the bug world to have to kiss that bug if in fact bugs did kiss!

Say that 5 times fast!

ReplyDeleteOops. Not sure if mine had wings?
I would kiss Punk for it, but I haven't been able to bring myself to do it.
ReplyDeleteMaybe after I brush her teeth...
Um... Do bugs really "think"?
ReplyDeleteIn what language?
They don't make noise.
How would that "bee" possible?
ReplyDeleteI had to read it three times to understand it once!
No way I am even trying to speak it! hehehe
From your photo, the brown area with the triangular pattern on it IS the wings.
ReplyDeleteLOL!
ReplyDeleteI "think" you may be right.
But they think and talk both on that movie Bugs Life! (hehehehehe)
